Really, really loved this one. And not just because of the manties....however, I liked those a lot.

I loved the banter between Jamie and Tyler. I'm a sucker for any kind of electronic communication.

I loved that this one was pretty low angst when it could've easily been super angsty and drama filled.

Perfect amount of steam. Jamie and Tyler were super hot together.

I'm rounding down because I could've done without that scene with Tyler and Melanie.

But overall, this was a big win for me. Definitely recommend.

Tyler Jackson is an Instagram model. He posts pics and videos of him working out and playing with his dogs. He also likes long terms relationships. This gorgeoooous specimen is described as dark haired, heavily tattooed, dimples, a 6 pack, sexy smirk, smart and I could go on and on.
As Jamie would say: drool-worthy.

Jamie “Roxy” is an ascending star vlogger at the top of his game, he lives and breathes makeup and he has a very peculiar trait: he never sleeps with the same guy twice.

"What if it wasn't as good the second time? Or, worse yet, what if I caught feelings?

Jamie is all sass. He's creative, witty, bold, owns his internet-famous persona proudly and loves to shamelessly brag about his sex life on air. However, he is extremely closed up about his real self and wears his make up as a shield.

His weakness: Tyler Jackson, the shirtless wonder.

"He was HOT. Not pretty or cute, but I'd-let-you-fuck-me-till-I-cried-hot. Ugh."

Jamie has been stalking and ogling following Tyler's Instagram for a long time. In a bold move he makes a comment on Tyler's Instagram.

"Hey, I just wanted to say that your dogs are really cute."

Me: *choking* *cough fit* *snort*
I know... kill me now!

It was a banal comment,Taylor had messages like that often. It was the user name that caught his attention and sounded familiar though. He thought the woman in the profile pic was gorgeous. With a bit of a digging he found out that she was not a she.

Virtual banter happens and this reader loved it!

The guys hit off "virtually" immediately. They meet and fall in a long-distance relationship which is not easy as both guys have a very busy career.

The angst is light, all related with how closed up Jamie is. Nope, no one broke his heart. He just got baggage, a suitcase of issues from the way he was brought up, fatherless and by a mother who was never able to move on.

Contour wasn't perfect in my opinion. The relationship development happened in the same speed things happen in the internet, which is fast, super fast. I need it slower.

I thought of given it a full 4 stars initially but I felt the last 10% was a bit disappointing. I found it rushed. It was all settled too easily for my taste.

Contour explores a very current theme as virtual banter has taken the world in an incredible speed. You have a relationship at the tip of your fingers. That easy. It also gives a little insight about internet-famous life style.

For the ones who are wondering, it is hot.
Totally recommend.

Meg Harding is not an author I've had too much luck with in the past. Great blurbs, just okay stories have been my experience with her books. Buuut we had a breakthrough with Contour!! I was apprehensive about delving into this one, but I'm so happy I took the plunge.

Contour is the story of YouTube makeup artist, Jamie aka Roxy, and Instagram model Tyler. Jamie has always found Tyler hot and his pictures with his dogs adorable. On a whim, he decides to message, and their cyberlove story begins.

Highlights:

-Social media couple. In this day and age, everyone has a social media couple that they follow. I felt that Meg Harding did an outstanding job crafting this story. Their messages to each other were witty and cute; I often found myself smiling while reading them.

-Jamie, he was charming and funny.

-Tyler. He was a Southern gentleman with a big heart.

-The relationship development felt natural as their feelings for each other grew.

-There was no dumb, contrived drama about Jamie and Tyler's relationship. The block they hit was an occurrence that happens to everyday couples and celebrities, and they handled it with respect.

-Dual POVs

-There was character growth, especially on Jamie's side.

-And the look into their future in the epilogue was sweet.

All in all, this a great little book. Contour was a delight to get lost into, and a fabulous start to a new series! 4.5 Stars!

Heeeee! i cant believe i finally finished this! *Sigh*

I ended up liking it a little bit.

Jaimie a YouTube star and Model who posts makeup tutorials videos and reviews beauty products, has been crushing on Tyler an Instagram fitness model after all Tyler is drool-worthy, after his friend suggests he message Tyler, He messages him and from there they start chatting. The texts were hilarious, flirty and cute.

The book was ok but to me, it read like a fanfic of:

Jeffree Starr and Nate, I have watched their YouTube clips. Jeffree is a YouTube star who posts makeup tutorials videos and reviews beauty products, The two met when Nate messaged Jeffree on Instagram. Oh and they have cute dogs too. I could help but compare the two especially Tyler’s wolf tattoo and Nates lion tattoo, Oh I know! I know! I am weird like that, it actually surprises me, how much of YouTube I watch. *SMH*

Jamie’s lips were a soft coral and glossy, his hair a bright pink. His eyes were navy blue today. His cheekbones were prominent—aided by highlighter I knew from watching his videos. They too shined.

description

The only difference between Jamie and Jeffree is the fact that, Jaimie doesn’t have tattoos

Maybe it’s just me or that was the author’s inspiration.

Once I got over the weird in my head similarities which was very hard to do, and the vanity. I enjoyed the story and Manties was a plus.

I’m such a sucker for books where the characters begin their romances in the virtual world, communicating through texts and private messages before finally attempting the transition to real-world dating. It’s a romance trope that just works for me and I’ve had a hell of a good run in past years loving similar books like Dear Aaron by Mariana Zapata and the Cyberlove series by Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell.

I didn’t become quite as enthralled with this one as I did with the aforementioned stories, but considering this was my very first time reading a book by Harding I’m marking it down as a major success all of its own.

The whole idea that people like Tyler and Jamie can make their living (or a very large part of it) vlogging and generally being a major presence on various social media platforms kind of blows my mind. On the surface it seems so unfathomable and slightly pointless, but when I really think about it, I have to tip my imaginary hat to these people because they’ve found a creative way to make a living doing something they love while (mostly) providing countless hours of entertainment for their online followers. I know there are many readers who hate stories with these kinds of themes, and although I may not personally relate to this kind of lifestyle the way others do, I still find the idea behind it quite fascinating.

As for the story itself, I really enjoyed the progression of Jamie and Tyler’s romance. There were some honest and revealing moments scattered throughout, where the characters shared stories from their pasts and faced their insecurities and fears together, but mostly this was a sweet story with minimal angst and just the right amount of steam to keep things interesting.

I’ll be honest and admit that I kind of adored Tyler. He was a buff, tatted up hunk of man, but he was also total sweetheart, loving on Jamie so naturally it made my heart ache. Plus, he’s a dog dude, which automatically wins him sexy/sweet points in my book.

Overall, this was one of those lovely romance reads that I happily found quite moreish, seemingly unable to put it down for longer than necessary over the past 24 hours. That alone tells you all you need to know about my enjoyment here.

I have become so dogdamned OLD!
Reading the sample of this had me rolling my eyes, checking the time every two seconds and thinking up ways to make sure the young ones get an education, so we can leave this "Sardashbian-nonsense" in the dust!

HOW can you make a living posting pictures of your abs and dogs??? (= Just to clarify I'm talking about BEFORE the agencies and product placements come calling:-) HOW? How does that contribute to society other than creating a whole new generation of self-absorbed snapchappers selfiedicks facebloobers tweedledums instabookers or whatever they're called.

Yes, I get that Roxy is good at the makeup-stuff, but he was so dogdamned self-centered, it put me off of him...
I am definitely not the target-market for this one, and it's too bad since I LOVE Meg Harding, but I will go back to her Dinner for One-series instead, that one was a hit for grumpy, old me.

This is one hundred percent a case of It's Not You; It's Me.

I haven't had much luck with Harding's past novels, but I can't resist femme boys who wear dresses and 💄.

I liked the dual first-person POV and the cute 🐕 🐕 🐕.

I loved Tyler who was a Southern gentleman beneath the muscles and tats.

Jamie was harder to like because he put up so many walls and was so looks obsessed (granted, it was his job).

The sex was 🔥 🔥 🔥 and the HEA sweet as pie.

I've read other books that center on virtual relationships (the Cyberlove series comes to mind) that I went gaga over. Yet Contour bored me.

The MCs just seemed so damn young. And there was so much talk of stardom and parties and past sexual conquests. *shrugs* Just not my thing.

I loved this book! It's a brilliantly crafted romance between two guys who meet on social media and it holds up a lovely mirror for anyone who's ever fallen in love over the internet.

It felt special for me because I met my OH online, not through social media admittedly, but via Dark Age of Camelot, one of the first (and still the best imho) MMORPGs.

Both Jamie (who reminded me a lot of the fabulous Manny MUA, an online brand ambassador for Maybelline amongst others. His YouTube channel is full of great make up tutorials), and Tyler felt believable.

Their text conversations both cracked me up with the humour and also provided a neat way for time to move on without having loads of exposition.

There's a wee bit of very hot sex, but the vast majority of this narrative is just the establishment of an emotionally connected young couple who both have to overcome fears to reach their HEA.

The epilogue, like the cover, is gorgeous.

**MANTIES** Got your attention? Yeah, the blurb should say that because I would have been in line for it so fast. lol

I saw the blurb on this and I really wanted to read it because I am so into relationships that start online. I didn't think I would have time to read and review so I passed it up. Then it came up again when I was between books and just couldn't find *that* book to get me over a book hangover hump, so I grabbed this one up. So freaking glad I did because I loved it!
It isn't too angsty, but it was a fabulous start to a series. Jamie has a makeup youtube channel and he is doing pretty well for himself. He is gender fluid. He has been following Tyler on Instagram and they start messaging back and forth. *swoon* Instagram and Youtube love! Yes, please.

The relationship develops online at first. They have so many text conversations and those are my absolute favorite. I love texting communication. I loved it in all of the Cyberlove series by Santino Hassell and Megan Erickson - especially in Mature Content and in Tell Me It's Real by TJ Klune.

When Jamie and Tyler finally meet their chemistry is fairly explosive. The author handled their first face to face interactions so well. With awkwardness and a degree of uncertainty at first, but then they spend a bit of time together and it is perfect.
Considering this is a shortish story, their relationship and the storyline flow well. They are open and actually figure out how to communicate with each other. They each have a strong support system, which I adore. While Jamie is reluctant to commit to an actual relationship, something he has never done before, Tyler is a serial monogamist and is exploring how to handle distance with a person who may be a flight risk. Then they figure out how to compromise so their fledgling romance has a chance.

I really enjoyed how their story unfolded, the risk Tyler took with his heart knowing he may end up on the losing end with someone who was so commitment phobic and Jamie's willingness to open himself up was lovely. I am looking forward to the future of the series, getting more backstory on the side characters and hopefully some check-ins with Tyler and Jamie.

I’m slightly addicted to a particular beauty vlogger (Manny!) and when I saw Harding’s newest release was about a YouTube make-up star and a sexy Instagram model falling in love, well, I couldn’t get my hands on it fastest enough. Roxy is a sassy sexy makeup aficionados. He sends a cheeky message to an IG model he’s lusting over and *boom* a texting long-distance relationship is born. Jamie is a high-maintenance diva with a carefully guarded heart. Tyler is fond of the fierce Roxy exterior but wants to have exclusive rights to the hidden Jamie core. They have some tricky twists and turns to tackle to be together and I highly suggest you hop on the ride.

What's to like:This is a fun low angst romance. I can’t deny I adore having my heart ripped to shreds and put back together again but there are times I crave a smooth ride. Jamie and Tyler provide just enough friction to start a burn, that quickly transforms into a raging fire. I loved their text convos! They kept the story flowing while simultaneously moving their relationship along. They begin a little flirty and soon morph into…more. I loved the secondary cast, each and every one! And the dogs! I was smitten with Tyler’s fur babies and couldn’t get enough of their show stealing moments. I enjoyed the down-to-earth vibes. They may live the celebrity lifestyle but I relished in the simple moments.

What's to love:It’s easy to love Tyler, everyone does. He’s solid inside and out. He’s a southern boy ingrained with manners and respect. He is an absolute joy. Roxy is just as delightful. Jamie on the other hand is camouflaged, making him harder to see and understand. Thankfully, Tyler is relentless and stubborn in his mission…which is to win Jamie’s heart, trust, and faith. I loved witnessing the unveiling. It was sensual, sweet and steamy. I loved how Tyler loved Jamie…in every shape and form. Jamie is genderfluid and confident in any face as long as it’s not bare. But Tyler demonstrates the beauty of unconditional love regardless of the packaging. And I promise it will melt your heart.

Beware of: Shades of tea, dishes of snark and a last course that will make your teeth ache. You might want to grab a fan, cuz this baby is H.O.T. And a series? Whaaat? Can’t wait for more!

This book is for: If you are a fan of digital stars and love your romances with sweet and heat, this is one you don’t want to miss!

Well! This might be my most favorite book I have ever read from this author! What a delight this story was, right from the start.

I love the idea of the famous YouTube makeup artist and the famous Instagram hottie getting together through online interaction and then meeting in real life! And I adored these guys - loved Jamie and Tyler together so, so much.

I loved their chemistry and their banter before they met, and then how easy they fell for each other and fell into a relationship, despite them both wanting to keep it easy.

I could definitely read more about these guys, I want a YouTube/instagram wedding between these two! With a flash dance proposal from Tyler!

* 3.5 stars! *

This is very cute story. I actually finished it in one sitting, so that should tell you how much I enjoyed it. I’m a HUGE fan of makeup, I buy way too much, and watch a lot of makeup tutorials on YouTube. So obviously a book about a makeup guru is going to catch my attention. Also, the blurb mentions a ‘shirtless wonder’, so that made me even more intrigued. ;)

The story revolves around Jamie, a makeup artist and a YouTube sensation, and his fellow social media star, Tyler, a model who gained international fame by posting pics and videos of himself shirtless, and hanging out with his dogs.

It all sounds really superficial, and it kinda is, but behind their famous facades, both of the MCs are very likable, and their banter and chemistry is what made this book so enjoyable.

At the beginning of the story, we learn that Jamie has a little crush of Tyler. He could sit and watch his pics and videos for hours, but he didn’t really plan to do anything about it. That is until his bff and PA suggest him to send a message to the instagram hottie, and see if he might be interested.

Jamie initially refuses the idea, but very soon after he gives in and contact Tyler with one awkward message.

Now, let’s move on to Tyler...

7D6BDE8F-540A-48EB-9E5A-64F184E3B80B.gif

Yep. He’s dreamy. He’s hot obviously, but he’s also charming, funny, kind and smart. And oh so smitten with Jamie, it was adorable.

Their relationship is purely virtual at the beginning, because they live so far apart. But their texting is one of the best parts of this book IMO. Their banter was awesome, and I loved how they got to know each other through the messages.

When they finally meet, sparks fly, and they have some very hot sexy times. They also get to know each other even better, and soon they become a couple. But they have a few issues to deal with before they can reach their HEA. First is the long distance situation, and second is Jamie’s fear of relationships.

I did have some issues with the story, and that’s why I didn’t give a higher rating.

Yes, this story is cute and engaging, and overall I enjoyed the storyline, but it was a little flat IMO, I was missing some depth and conflict. I know that this book isn’t supposed to be angsty, and that’s totally fine. But even in other fluff stories that I read and loved, there was a depth that I just didn’t feel here. Even the way the main conflict was resolved felt too easy and rushed.

However, I enjoyed this book and it’s exploration of social-media-culture and virtual relationships. So many relationships start on the internet these days, and I enjoy books that explore that new reality.

Recommended if you’re in the mood for a light, easy and sweet romance.

This is a 'nowaday' story of two Instagram celebrities, between Tyler and Jamie. Two inta-celeb reminds me a lot of these guys... JOey and Danny boy. Le sigh.

This is a light adorable everyday story, very low angst, just the usual when two people falling in love and have to manage the long distance relationship.
Jamie never had a real relationship, never slept twice with one guy, and when he met Tyler, it's something like ' a shock culture' for Jamie, a whole new dimension of human relationship.
He tried though, because, man...Tyler is a dream come true.
And the most important thing, he adored Jamie with or without his make-up!
Never questioned Jamie's choices, he's just adored Jamie. Awww...
I loved the banters between them, especially the messages, it was funny, witty and very fresh.
My only complain is the making of make-up tutorial vlog, it felt too long (blame me, I don't wear make-up.LOL).
Overall, this is fun to read and enjoyable. I liked it.

3.75 stars rounded up

Jamie, from Los Angeles, a beautiful young man who loves his make-up, sex and not afraid to tell people about it but pretty reserved and private about his own personal life, and definitely never been in monogamous relationship. And Nashville boy Tyler, who is pretty buff and muscly, with his dogs, who wants to have dates before sex!

It's pretty much the story of falling in love in the digital age, a.k.a. via YouTube video and Instagram. Even the chat also happened via Skype or texting. Yep, no more old-fashioned love letter these days.

But it's cute, and it is pretty angst-free. I was worried that there would be some sort of huge conflict between the two young men due to their long-distance relationship, but there were really none. I really enjoyed it -- especially because of the opposites attract factor :).

Thank you very much to Signal Boost Promotions for providing a copy of the novel in conjunction with the blog tour.

Check out the Contour blog tour here.

My brain while reading Contour was basically just an endless omgthisissocutesosoftsopureimdying. 😭

Needless to say, I really, really enjoyed this light, fluffy novel. Contour by Meg Harding was my first 5-star read of 2018, and I can guarantee I’ll love the second book in the series just as much.

I don’t feel like I can adequately explain my love for this novel, because every part of it was just amazing: the characters, the plot, the writing, the romance. Everything worked so well together, and the entire story just flowed so naturally and beautifully.

The characters were nuanced, three-dimensional, and realistic. Jamie is a gender fluid YouTube makeup artist – he has been obsessed with makeup ever since he was a child – and is unduly influenced by his mother not to get too close to a man because he will inevitably rip your heart out. He flits from fling to fling, which has worked for him, until he starts an online relationship with Tyler, an Instagram model.

Tyler is honestly a pure cinnamon roll who deserves all the happiness in the world. He is an Instagram model who mainly uploads photos with his labradors, and he is genuinely a really nice guy. He’s also bisexual (so this book automatically got 5 stars for me – I’m kidding)!

I absolutely loved the way their relationship develops – from harmless online flirting to catching feels, to deciding to meet up. Each part of their journey evolved wonderfully and naturally, too. And trust me when I say this book is realistic (because there’s nothing I hate more than an unrealistic contemporary) – when Jamie and Tyler meet for the first time, there’s awkwardness between them, but the more they get to know each other, the stronger their relationship becomes. Contemporary romances are one of my favourite genres, but it’s so rare to find a perfectly balanced novel in terms of realism, romance, storyline and writing – Contour is definitely one such novel for me.

The book is definitely character-driven, and within the first few chapters, you will be head-over-heels for both Jamie and Tyler. There’s not a lot of angst in Contour: it’s basically two people learning to overcome their personal issues – one’s a commitment-phobe, the other is monogamous, but also has family issues – before they realise that they are perfect for one another. But what I love most is how Jamie and Tyler are seperate people outside of their romance: Jamie is a successful makeup artist who gets the opportunity to create his own line, and Tyler starts expanding his modelling outside of Instagram. They have ambitions and goals in life, too, which is equally important as a romance.

Harding’s writing is flawless. She so effortlessly gets into her characters heads and makes it clear which MC’s perspective we are reading with strong character voices. The writing style perfectly matched the tone of the novel – the pages just flipped by!

Meg Harding’s Contour has plenty to love: witty banter, two fantastic MCs, lovely background characters who I really want to see more of, humour, and a beautiful romance. It is perfect for fans of Santino Hassell and Megan Erickson’s Cyberlove series!

Please, do yourselves a favour and get your hands on a copy of Contour today! Meg Harding is definitely an author I want to read more of now!

I'm certainly not totally unbiased when it comes to this book since I've got an early copy & had the honor of being part of the beta-process. Nevertheless the book held my attention right from the start when I first heared about the blurb, the vague idea, and the finished product was even more amazing. :3

I loved Jamie right from the start. I loved his fierceness, his attitude. He is a genderfluid YouTube make-up artist, is famous and well in the business. He is known for his critiques about make-up, and flies like a colorful butterfly, never really settling down, always seeking for attention - and loving to be in the spotlight.

He is fascinated by the Instragram male model Tyler, who is a charming, natural guy from the South, presenting his abs together with his adorable dogs. Not only Jamie is swooning over him. Tattoed and well-prepped he is a wet dream for many people.

What I dearly loved about the book was the balance between the chats where Jamie and Tyler get to know each other better and when they actually met. The chats had the necessary natural flowing, nothing was forced or stocked and you could totally go with them. They were charming, sweet and in one word: adorable. When they were together this adorable behaviour was even more visible and palpable.

The parts were balanced by those from Tyler's and Jamie's POV, written in first person, the reader got the insights, the struggles and the deeper feelings of the both characters. We also get to know who's around the two guys. Both Jamie and Tyler have amazing supportive friends; Jamie with Lorelai and Mattie in his corner, and Tyler with Dan. I loved how many times these friends were the voices of reason, the ones who could literally talk honestly with and about them, who don't fuss or sugercoated things.

The book was hard to put down, hard to stop while reading because of the great flow, the natural development between Jamie and Tyler. From becoming a random chat romance to a solid relationship, first a long distance one.

Jamie is several times struggling with his feelings for Tyler, not that he doesn't like him, but he is scared to commit to other, is scared to let his barriers down. I especially loved the vulnerability Jamie is showing and how he is using his make-up as a shield, as his mask to hide his physical (mostly in the past) and mental bruises, how he tries not to show his flaws, his (in his opinion) "ugly" parts. And I loved how Tyler is looking all behind this and supports him loves him for himself.

Total recommendation, 5 out of 5 stars for this. I dearly loved Jamie and Tyler. :3

I enjoyed this book! I appreciated that while there were lots of ways this book could have been very angsty--it wasn't. Instead, it was a sweet slow-building story about two people falling on love.

Some have reported that they couldn't get into this book because both MCs were youtube/instagram stars and their text-based relationship seems foreign and even a little superficial at first I get it. It still *boggles my mind* that anyone can create a career based on nothing more than narcissism and access to a camera. But their careers, relationship challenges, lifestyle felt authentic for both MCs. And despite the above, they were likable--in large part because they were kind to one another, comfortable in their skin, and while they both got scared at times--neither of them shied away from going after what they really wanted.

All in all, it was an enjoyable read. It's currently free on KU and worth a read. Recommended!

This was quite enjoyable. I started reading and couldn’t put it down. The guys were sweet together. Their banter (mostly by text) left me with a cheesy grin. The smex was hot (manties!) My only niggle concerns the contrived relationship angst. Considering the lack of angst through the majority of the book, it felt unnessesary. I could have done without it.

I would definitely recommend this book.

Pretty much pure fluff. There's no true angst. But the couple was cute and they had a decent journey to each other. I liked Jamie's dynamic with his mother, I wish it had been more present. The MCs' friends were all great. I'm hopeful there's a certain pairing coming there.

These two really charm one another. What they expected to be a weekend tryst turns out to be more. The chemistry between them is intense, and they agree to continue their long-distance communication. Jamie’s closest friends advise him to keep building his connection and make a trip to visit Tyler. And, it’s just as awesome. Thing is, Jamie’s been raised to believe love is a waste of time, and Tyler’s been hurt before. They’ve agreed to no strings, but they can’t help growing closer, especially as they connect more and more frequently in person.

I loved how sweet this one is. Jamie’s irreverent, but honest. His shameless pursuit of Tyler leaves him feeling oddly vulnerable. It’s contemporary in a big way, all the digital connections and constant posting and looking for adulation from the anonymous masses. Tyler may feel he’s been lucky to make a living off his looks, but Jamie’s always had bigger plans; his blogging is a means to a better life. Tyler and Jamie both have images to maintain, and it’s interesting to see how much thought goes into their work. It felt authentic, and the translation from text, to talk, to in-person interactions was interesting. The conflict was low, and the passion was high. I couldn’t help feeling the bubbles of anticipation whenever they were about to meet after a separation. That’s a whole new experience for Jamie, as is his interest in continuing to see Tyler. Their unexpected romance was fun to experience and the resolution lets the reader know these two made a lasting connection, despite their physical distance.

I wanted to like this more than I did.

I thought the characters were interesting, but I guess I just didn't feel the connection between them was strong enough to justify the ending. Maybe the ending was just rushed?

I liked the beginning with their flirting, but once the initial sexing was done... I didn't really care all that much, because I didn't completely believe they were that important to each other.

The first half was totally worth reading, though.

this book kinda reminds me with one of my favorite books; Mature Content, but not so much tho, MC still the best book about YouTubers and cyberlove so far. This book is relationship focused but not challenging and sometimes too easy. But i like the fact that this book shows how social media especially instagram made us insecure. it was so real and so happening.

Jamie has that absolute confidence on screen, the make up empire to be, as well as the always changing hair color, that make a popular YouTube star. It might just be me but I thought this story had a definite flair of Jeffree Starr to it. Even to the point of Tyler refusing to have his waterline touched (which Jeffree’s boyfriend, Nathan, did on one episode). But I digress. Jamie’s mom, a stripper, taught him the magic of make up when he was a little boy and despite bullying and taking crap for it, he loves it and has made it a part of who he is. He has turned it into a big time moneymaker, with two awesome best friends in Lorelei and Mattie, and shares his make-up, love life, sex life and himself with his fans. Except he keeps things, like his real eye color, to himself. He’s also got a big crush on Tyler Jackson. Tyler is a Nashville based Instagram star model who is ridiculously cute with his dogs and so kind with his fans. Maybe it’s the obscene cuteness of the dogs that brings it over the top but Jamie wants to sleep with this guy.

Except when they start to message, that’s not how things go. They end up talking. And talking. And getting to know each other. Jamie may be open about sex but his heart is incredibly guarded and no one is getting past that. When Tyler has a shoot in LA, they get a chance to meet in person and it was awkward and sweet. “Super weird. Like, I know you but not really…… This almost feels like a blind date. I wasn’t expecting that.” Made perfect sense and while Jamie was all about just hopping into bed, Tyler demanded a date. The cutest date ever and even Jamie had to admit he had a good time.

These two embark on a cross country long distance relationship that is made more difficult by their schedules and by Jamie’s inability to admit anything besides a one off is a good thing. They have a ton of messaging, which I loved.
“Jamie: So you have a cold and you’re mansplaining.”
“Tyler: It’s not a cold. It’s the end of my life flashing before my eyes. I can’t breathe. I can’t eat. It hurts to move.”
OMG, #mancold and I was laughing through it.

Things aren’t simple for these guys. Tyler is the braver one, wanting to make it work and talking things out with his best friend, Dan, who is utterly awesome. Sometimes I was so frustrated with Jamie, who was sort of taking advantage of Tyler being so incredibly patient. Jamie wants things he doesn’t think he should want, even when Mattie and Lorelei try to talk to him. Lorelei, so wise, has to let Jamie know that when you go into a relationship thinking it will fail “Thinking that is as good as planning it.” When she tells him, “It’s okay to get hurt. It won’t kill you and you will move on. A broken heart is not the end of the world” it’s like an epiphany moment for Jamie. No risk, no gain.

A deal with Lush (jealous, because I love them!) and maybe a make up line are on the forefront as well and that adds just more stress to the whole thing. They both travel, they both work hard in nontraditional jobs. What to do?

I loved watching the development of the relationship and the maturation of Jamie. They both have mother issues and have to grapple with that but I think Jamie had the farthest to go. The man that can say, “I don’t need him to be happy, if I’m being honest, but I’d like him to be around to share in my happiness and add to it” has grown a lot.

As a side mention, I was very worried about what would happen to Dan and was very satisfied with the outcome there!

I think this is gonna be a new fluffy feel good favorite for me because i truly enjoyed the low angst aspect of it. i liked that jamie and tyler are very different but they had so much chemistry in and out of the bedroom. i liked that the big romantic gesture that cemented their relationship was done by jamie who is afraid of breaking his own heart and giving someone unworthy of his trust the ability to hurt him especially since he grew up with a mother who learnt that lesson from his dad.

i also love that tyler is a soft hero who doesn't pressure jamie into a relationship, gives jamie the pace he wants, as casual as he wants it to be. he also had such a refreshing attitude about jamie's sex life and how open he was about it. i loved that he planned most of the dates and was clear about what he wanted but also was flexible as much as possible to keep jamie comfortable. there were these moments where jamie'd say something about not liking something and tyler immediately respected his wishes and i just liked that a lot.

the friendships are great too i love that both of them have support systems in the shape of friends and not family because uh friends are great.

i want a book about every friend getting their deserved hea.
