Since my childhood, I've been passionate about fantasy. After reading many stories of epic struggle set in worlds of magic, I've decided to create a world of my own. The Seven Isles is the result.
The final book in the Dragonfall trilogy. Ben finds himself torn by the emotional struggle with his urgency to kill the dragon but having to watch has his world is savaged by the dragon's minions and Ben's close friends are slowly and methodically being killed. Homer, his wonder dog is also a mystery to Ben as Homer saves Ben several times in ways Ben never thought possible. A fitting conclusion to a good trilogy, packed with action, adventure and emotion. The book is definitely a page turner. I highly recommend the entire series.
The first book was interesting and action filled . The second was good till 2/3 rd, when newcharacters came in and it went downhill. The book was full of nonsense fillers which did not gel and I could not finish it. Wasted my time. The whole story could have been condensed in one book.
Wow, I'm stunned at the emotions this book elicited in me. David Wells, you're a Genius. Thank you. This trilogy is a rollercoaster. Everything I love about SciFi /Fantasy you took and expressed it in this story.
You just became a member of my top 3 Author list. The other two being Robin Hobb and Tolkien, of course. You booted Patrick Rothfuss to the curb (of course the fact that he'll never publish his 3rd book in my lifetime might be a factor...😈😡).
I have Kindle unlimited and this series was recommended. Thought it would be a nice light read between Sanderson & the other "longer", lengthier(?) Writers... AND RISK FREE because, it's free. 😉
Finished in a couple days but it was anything but light. I highly recommend any and all READ THIS TRILOGY, you won't be disappointed.
Torn on the star rating -- first two were decent, and really the third was interminable with way too many battle scenes that you stop caring about the details. Otherwise an usual hero coming of age story set post apocalyptic as a twist. The book has a twin rivalry plot with good twin bad twin and the hero good twin is so one dimensionally good you even dislike him by the end. Gave it a three because it has a good setup and don't want to discourage a new author but maybe closer to two since characterization is so so and female characters should improve to beyond serving meals and one fighter. Read Robin Hobb instead
I sort of like the series, the story was good but I got tired of how many stupid mistakes Ben makes. Of course, I knew Ben would lose someone he loves because he refuses to kill Frank, of course, I knew not fighting the Warlock and instead of powering him by giving him what HE wants would mean trouble at the end. AND why does Ben not explore and practice with his abilities, HE is a WIZARD after all, why would you fight magic with guns and tech. I feel these elementary mistakes by Ben are just to prolong the story. which is why I give it 2 STARS.
It’s set up well for another trilogy but the story itself just feels to easy. The fights with the dragon are penultimate without being meaningful. There’s very little character development aside from Ben and his Dog. The main characters are continuously saved purely by chance and by side characters that feel all too much like the previous saviors. I wanted so much more from this series. I’m going back to read the Sovereign of The Seven Isles again to make sure it was as good as I remember
Rarely does a fantasy trilogy get better as it progresses. Dragonfall transcends this trope by actually leaving the best for last. Being specific is too much of a spoiler, but some of the things one expected to happen do - the hero does win the battle, but how he does it is actually a little unexpected. And while any story like this tends to gloss over how many people die, the author makes some choices that actually make you notice that battles against great odds have consequences.
I loved this story. It made me laugh, cry, gasp in outrage, and cheer out loud!!!! The story of Homer and Ben is a fun ride with enough realism to draw the reader in and keep them reading until the wee hours of the morning. I am still sad there wasn’t even One good dragon, but I loved the story and characters so much that it makes up for it. Keep writing!!! I want to read more!!!
I have always loved stories about dragons, since my first adventure into The dragons of Pern. But all the Dragon stories I've read have been about good dragons, one's you could and go into battle with and not against. So having the Dragon be the villain is different. But Mr. Wells story is so engrossing with twists and turns, that keep reading thru all three of the Dragonfall series 123.
I really liked the first two books, MC progressed, plot progressed, world was interesting. Then we come to this mess. I don't recognize the MC, it feels like a different story from a different author. In this installment the MC seems to have forgotten most of the progress he'd made in the first two books and there are just too many unresolved conflicts, then the story bogs down in pointless battle grinds. I'm out at at 33%.
Lots of action which I like but I felt irritation with Ben in relation to his brother. His hesitation in different occasions had some of his love ones killed. I'm not happy with the end, it make me feel sad an empty. Also it felt like he really didn't accomplish what he set up to do. Who knows, the warlock was very powerful, I doubt he will stay put in his dimension and come back to challenge Ben again.
Now that I have finished the trilogy of the Dragonfall, I can honestly say it was the best series I have ever read. Excitement and interesting characters have made this series unstoppable when reading. After each book I just had to see what happened with the next book. This was well worth reading.
The third book mostly met my expectations. The characters continued to grow, becoming more interesting. The despicable characters never disappoint and it’s a delight when they get their well deserved bad end. Homer is probably the most captivating character but who doesn’t love man’s best friend?
This, the third and final book, in he Dragonfall Trilogy, was very good. Everything was wrapped up satisfactorily. I can't say too much without giving it all away. I do think the folks stayed in tunnels much too much. I hope you will read these books and enjoy them as much as I did. Happy Reading.
I really enjoyed this series. I especially liked the relationship between Ben and his dog Homer; it really represents the bond between a dog and their owner. It actually made me quite jealous 🤭
This is the first book I’ve read in a long time that’s made me cry. I definitely needed some extra cuddles with my dog as I read the last chapter 😢
I'm new to the fantasy genres. This book was so captivating. The interactions between the lead characters was built quickly whereas each event pulled you in. There is continuous action and suspense throughout this trilogy. I'm glad all three books were comp!eyed prior to me starting this read.
This book was by far the best book I’ve read I a while it was an original series mixing WiFi and fantasy my two favorite genres. This book is filled with action adventure and much more.
There is not too many authors that can evoke emotion quite like Mr. Wells. I discovered him by accident and really enjoyed his Sovereign series, but Dragonfall brought out emotions that I felt like I was indeed right there with Ben. Good job
I chose this rating because this author writes with a crisp style that moves the story along while filling out characters as well as setting scenes clearly. He places the reader squarely into the time and action without overtly embellishing.
I have read the 3 books oh what a great story from the start. It's was very hard to put down. The characters were so realistic those of you that red these books will enjoy them immensely
I'll give this what I consider high praise: the end was great and unexpected. I knew it was ending but as we drew closer, I saw no satisfactory option. I'm pleased to be surprised.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves an adventure, a true warrior, and a very human hero. I could not put the trilogy down until I had reached its conclusion.
The series was entertaining, exciting, emotional and I would recommend it to anyone who wants fantasy and sci fi expertly intertwined into a tale that you can't wait to get to the end but at the same time doesn't want the story to end.
Each book in the trilogy grew in imagination and entertainment until I couldn't stop reading till the end Absolute must read for anyone wanting a break from this word
Tears for all the lost. A wonderful tale of love lost and found, an epic battle between good and bad, and quite an interesting ending. This is my first delve into David A. Wells but it won't be my last. I love Homer!
Couldn't put it down. This series was a,excellent read from the first to the last. That yoh for sharing your imagination with us, as well as your skills in writing this series. Highly recommended to others who love magic and dragons.
