I KNEW BETTER. MY HEART DOESN'T CARE...

This wasn't supposed to happen.

Marshal Howard is a death wish wrapped in mystery. Over six feet of hulking muscle that screams leave me the hell alone. Cold, rude, insanely overprotective single dad.

Everyone in our little town warned me to stay far, far away. I didn't listen.

I answered the Castoff's nanny ad because no one else would.

I got too close.

I saw through his vicious reputation.

I found the impossible.

A call to reckless nights entangled and on fire. My destroyer in every kiss. A man who's turning my heart inside out, making me a fool.

So what if his pillow talk tears the stars from the sky and lays them in my trembling fingers? I haven't lost my mind.

If it was just the bad blood with him and my family, maybe we'd work through this. Maybe we'd find paradise. Just me, him, and that adorable little girl.

But surprises come in threes. Like the lines on the pregnancy test.

How do I love this beast and have his baby when Fate keeps giving us a big fat middle finger?

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow - A single dad romance with heart! Total stand alone novel, an alpha male protector off his chain, and a heartwarming Happily Ever After.

horrible writing style. struggling to keep track of story and take issue with character development. don't understand nor believe all the 4/5 star reviews. just because a reader gets an ARC doesn't mean they have to automatically give the author rave reviews. I'd settle for honest ones.

Seems I’ve hit a wellspring of angsty books lately and Surprise Daddy is another. This is not a book like the title suggest. It’s full of inner emotional struggle, familial crisis, self- discovery and of course romance.

Sadie has heard of the Castoff, Marshal Howard, and the disgraceful exhibition he presented a few years ago before getting into a huge fight with her brother. Meeting him is a frightening and exhilarating experience for her. In need of a job she forces herself into Marshal’s life and that of his young daughter. She needs just a few months before she will be able to get the job she’s been working for. Surely she can put up with his rudeness until then.

Marshal is struggling to keep himself and his little girl together. Everything he does is for her with the exception of the plans of vengeance the ghosts from his pasts whisper in his ear. He doesn’t need a sexy redheaded nanny interfering with his plans and yet before he realizes he’s doing it, he’s opened up his home and soon his heart to her.

There were several times I found inconsistencies in this story or a lack of true motivation or understanding for the actions of the characters, but overall it was a unique plot that had me hanging on to learn how Marshal was going to handle his emotional and moral dilemma. The secondary characters were a bit chaotic and I would’ve really liked to have had a better understanding into the family dynamic. Mia was cute and charming with responses appropriate for her age. I wished she had had more page time.

I enjoyed the interactions between Sadie and Marshal and there’s no denying their bedroom antics have the ability to set your kindle on fire. My heart hurt for him and the struggle he faced. I wasn’t sure which way he would go in his thirst for justice. I also loved that once he recognized and expressed his feelings for Sadie he was all in. The ending was sweet and touching and everything you could want in a romantic read.

This is an honest review of an advanced copy

❤~🌟~❤3.5 WILD AND CRAZY STARS❤~🌟~❤!

Wow. What can I say about SURPRISE DADDY other than it threw me for a complete loop! It’s a SEXY, SWEET, VOLATILE, ANGSTY, INSTA-LOVE tale that set my heart in overdrive!

There is nothing hotter to me than a single daddy story, and this one featuring a GRUFF, GROWLY badass ex-soldier named Marshal who deflowers his daughter’s sweet nanny and then proceeds to lose his jaded heart in the process certainly COMMANDED my attention! That said, it was nothing like what I expected from the cover and blurb. It was much DARKER, and more HEARTBREAKING and EMOTIONALLY EXPLOSIVE than I anticipated with shocking twists I never saw coming!

Nicole Snow has a very captivating writing style. It’s vibrant and evocative, brimming with emotional depth and sensuality, and it completely CONSUMES you. She sure can pen a topsy-turvy love story that’s brimming with feels and angst and blazing hot passion! I relished the off the charts chemistry between the sheets—and out of it—between Marshal and Sadie. These two just SMOLDERED from page one and incinerated my kindle with their panty melting hotness!

But fair warning: There is no slow subtle build in this book. It's full throttle intensity with romantic milestones unfolding at a warped speed, and you better strap in tight because there’s oodles of OTT melodrama, a dizzying array of off the rails antics, and your head will be spinning once everything reaches a fiery head!

OMG…I adored Sadie...she was sweet and sassy with an aching vulnerability and a big beautiful heart and the poor girl was smack dab in the middle of her own crazy family drama—involving her jerky brother Jackson and her mentally deranged mother--that consumes a lot of her time. This family gives new meaning to the term DYSFUNCTIONAL! And her young charge, little Mia aka Honeybee, was a heart melter and a total scene stealer!

The character I most grappled with was Marshal. To be honest, I have such mixed feelings about this big, tough, VOLCANICALLY SEXY man-beast. On one hand, he exudes all the attributes I ADORE in a moody broody, fiercely protective single dad. He is so dang sweet and doting toward little Mia my ovaries nearly combusted! And beneath his angry, volatile a-hole behavior lurks the damaged heart of a broken soldier, a deeply bereft man ON THE BRINK who’s is so haunted by the past he cannot see beyond his grief, rage and mind numbing despair. And boy when he let's his walls down this man is capable of some serious loving!!

That said, I struggled mightily to understand Marshal at times because, well, he was kind of a MANIAC! His diabolical plan to off Sadie’s brother, Jackson, who he blamed for a botched military coup that left his three teammates dead, was so sick and twisted--and unpatriotic—it just didn’t sit right with me.

And it also bugged me that he seduced the heroine, his daughters beautiful and innocent, nanny, all the while working behind the scenes to destroy a member of her family. Look, don’t get me wrong. I felt for the guy, truly I did, I mean he oozed as much torment as he did testosterone, but it was hard to reconcile the sweet and caring daddy/besotted lover with this crazy ex-military man who was bent on vigilante justice.

But who doesn’t love a redemption story and as his beloved Sadie sagely pointed out… ”There’s a good man in there –even if he struggles to find his way out, sometimes.” And glory hallelujah, he sure does! For the sake of Sadie and his precious little girl he does EVENTUALLY see the error of his ways and lets love, not revenge, cleanse his toxic soul and make him whole again! But the road to peace and redemption is long and arduous, and that a*swipe Jackson proves to be a mighty big obstacle in their road to happiness!

But of course, after going to hell and back, happiness does come for our beleaguered duo—and adorable Honeybee--and the HEA was so sweet and breathtakingly romantic it brought tears of joy to my eyes! And I am happy to report that the dastardly Jackson gets his just desserts!

Bottom line: Although SURPRISE DADDY caught me off guard, and I did struggle with some elements, I was so enthralled with this wildly entertaining book I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. I look forward to more angsty, insta-love tales from this amazing author!

So, so bad. This book started off great but then just went downhill. Insta lust that never felt like anything more. I never believed they had any connection other than in bed. I skipped most of the sexy scenes because they were lame. We are stuck in Marshall's internal dialogue where we go around and around in circles of angst and bitterness. He's sleeping with Sadie while

Sadie was a ditzy doormat. Just going with the flow hoping that things with Marshall will turn out to mean something. She lets her brother boss her around to the point of being ridiculous. He even takes her phone away for 2 weeks as some sort of punishment and she meekly lets him and doesn't even complain. I don't know any sisters that would let him take it that far and let him get away with it. With all those teenage years of sibling fighting practice she should be good at telling him to stuff it.

I skimmed and skimmed and very nearly dnf. And the ending was stupid and a waste. And the "surprise baby" doesn't show up until almost the end. But they did get their HEA.

Marshal Howard has a reputation around town as being gruff and protective of his daughter. He doesn't mince words and wont let anyone harm his daughter. When he advertises for a nanny, he never expects Sadie to show up for the job. He quickly realizes she is the sister to his enemy but not only that he is attracted to Sadie. One thing leads to another and Sadie is in his bed where he has no plans of letting her go. All seems perfect but Marshal is keeping a secret and it could tear everything they are building apart.

Excellent. I felt for Marshal, the whole town turns on him without even trying to find out what was behind a one time rant. I liked Sadie a lot, she doesn't back down where Marshal is concerned. You know when you pick up a Nicole Snow book you are bound to be entertained.

Marshal Howard is good book boyfriend material. He's rough around the edges, grumpy and standoffish to everyone but his little girl. He has secrets and a past and no room in his life for love.

Sadie is sweet but spunky, slowly beginning to stand up for herself and what she wants throughout the story. She is definitely a likeable character.

There is some action and surprises, a touch of suspense, and a fair couple doses of heat. At times it got me quite emotional. In the end, I loved it all. This was a great read by a great author.

4 hot stars. This was so much more than the description let me believe. The tenderness, the angst, the love, the insanity... it is all there😳. This book kept me guessing. The MCs definitely went through an emotional roller coaster in finding their HEA. Enjoyed it so much!!!

I really should have heeded the one-star reviews. This was just painful. The heroine was worse than a doormat, the hero was disgusting, the villain was the most cardboard of stereotypes. The only reason I’m not one-starring it is that I actually managed to read the whole wretched thing, which makes it better than some of the drivel I’ve suffered through this year. Barely.

Surprise Daddy by Nicole Snow is a fantastic story about love, secrets, and my favorite-redemption. Marshall Howard is the man women are warned all about-as the one to stay away from but sometimes those are the men you need in your life. He comes across on the outside as tough, sort of cold, and growly but on the inside—but when it comes to his daughter and his woman, he is warm and caring.
Sadie is a twenty-one-year-old college student who put her college on hold to come home and take care of her mother. Her older brother didn’t want any part of that and in order to get Sadie home, he emotionally blackmailed her to do so. She ends up becoming a nanny to Mia, Marshall’s 4 yr daughter . Marshall and Sadie have this wonderful connection. Marshall is hated in the town and it is not reputation that he deserves. Marshall is a terrific mechanic but due to how he is treated, he puts his nose to the grindstone and just freezes people out except his daughter. When Sadie comes into his life, she refuses to believe in the rumors and treats him with kindness. Their love was the insta-love kind. While there is romance between Sadie and Marshall going on, there is also story based on how Marshall is treated like he has the plague. So its full of angst , anger, action and passion. I enjoyed the character interaction between Sadie, Marshall and Jackson. I loved little Mia, she was adorable. I will say the romance part seemed to jump into warp speed from the time Marshall met Sadie to when they started their romance but that’s ok, I just would have liked more interaction between the main characters before the romance fully started. Other than that, really enjoyed the passion and the chemistry between Sadie and Marshall that played out; for me in this book, there were many positives that outweighed the few negatives that showed up. I look forward to reading what Ms. Snow writes next.

I'm a fan of Nicole Snow and with this book I got a chance to voluntarily review an ARC of this. This is the romance story between Marshal and Sadie. Marshal has a painful past where his team of comrades dies during to a wrong call by Jackson at a combat and Marshal seeks revenge. Sadie is medical student and she is called back by her father when her Mom suffers a breakdown as she is not able to get an inspiration for her paintings and Jackson is Sadie's brother. When Sadie comes across a post by Marshal for nanny to take care of his 4 year old daughter, Mia , Sadie applies and gets the job. When they are close their attraction sparks and their relationship turns more than professional with hot turn outs. What will happen when Marshal comes to know Sadie is Jackson's sister and there are many questions in their relationship will that all be answered and how they reach their happily ever after is the story. This is amazing book with lots of suspense and surprises. I just loved it.

Marshal is just a ball of joy, "he breaks the kiss, more reluctant thunder hanging on his lips. “Happy effing New Year. Had to make it count. Now I think we'd better both turn in.” I really liked this book, I loved Marshal the man was like a grizzly bear all growly on the outside and then all smooshy where his daughter and woman were concerned.

Surprise Daddy by Nicole Snow a surprising five-star read. As always Nicole Snow has written a sublime read, Marshall Howard is a man that people tell you to avoid, but sometimes those are the men you need in your life. He is well written and gruff at times but he is also great and someone I would happily curl up with next to a roaring fire. This is a great sweet read with enough passion and drama to keep you hooked.

Kinda dark but heart warming too

Sadie brings so much sunshine into Marshal’s life. And Mia is pure innocence. This is a somewhat dark romance in that it deals with the true nature of what most retired military deal with especially those who lost brothers in war. Glad to see that this hero finally found much deserved peace and happiness.

This was okay. I mean I adore me some insta-lust and and insta-love, but this did fall a bit short for me. I had a hard time buying into Sadie falling for Marshal because her inner dialogue just didn't seem to lead me that way. Marshal came across loud and clear.
It was short and entertaining. Good enough for the three stars.

Surprise Daddy by Nicole Snow

Marshal Howard doesn’t care what locals or anyone else really thinks of him. The only thing that truly matters to him is his daughter, Mia. This story was hot. Once I started reading it, I struggled to put the book down for any amount of time. Nicole Snow draws you into the story but also keeps your attention. I enjoyed reading this story. I loved Marshal, I loved Sadie/Sarah and Mia. This story is full of family struggles, personal struggles and all the things life can throw at you but Nicole managed to make it all work together, I love her writing.
Marshal is perfect book boyfriend material. He’s got mystery, loving father to a little girl and sexy; what more could a girl ask for? Ha I loved Sadie, I loved how even though she sacrificed things, she still stood up to do something she wanted to do. Even if it’s something no one in the town will do because it’s for the Castoff; the guy that caused issues in a small town that kind of thing never happens in.

*I won an arc copy from a giveaway, this is my honest review after reading the book.*

This is quite an exceptional story about secrets, love and a chance at redemption. Mia is the only person who can keep Marshal grounded especially when the whole town turns against him, but Sadie shows him what true love is. Sadie gives up her dreams to return home to look after her sick mother, but after six-months needs money, life and hope. Jackson cannot turn Marshal in, keep him away from Sadie or stop him from telling everyone the awful truth; but Jackson will finally be held accountable for his actions. All in all a gripping story that I enjoyed reading and would have no hesitation in recommending.

It is only Sadie’s second week of on-the-job training at the clinic, but when Marshal makes an appearance with his daughter Mia, she hopes he doesn’t recognise her name. Marshal and her brother, Jackson, had had a fracas a few years back and there was bad blood between them. Sadie has heard so many rumors about Marshal, the man the town calls the Castoff; that he is cold, dangerous, crazy, even if he is an exceptional mechanic. Then again it was surreal watching the tenderness he has for his daughter. Sadie has been unpaid help for the last six months; the good, faithful, dedicated daughter who put her life on hold to bail out a family crisis, but what choice did she have after Jackson twisted her arm. Sadie now needs money, a life and hope and so when she sees Marshal’s advertisement for a nanny she applies. Marshal lives off the grid, deep in the woods by the bluffs. He has plenty of work lined up through New Year’s but wonders how he has managed to keep stable for so long while raising his 4-year old daughter. But Marshal has secrets and nothing will shut up the ghosts in his head, not until they have justice. There are a million reasons why employing Sadie is wrong, but Mia likes her new babysitter and that is a plus. As time goes by, Sadie spends more time with Marshal and Mia, eventually moving in with him, but it doesn’t take long before Jackson finds out. Marshal knew there was something familiar about Sadie, but how could he forget Jackson had a little sister. It was Marshal’s fault for triggering the fistfight; anger had gotten the better of him and it had set him back years. But the truth hasn’t changed, nor the seething need for justice. The town hasn’t been fair to Marshal or Mia and Sadie wants to make it up to them; to be his nanny, to earn his trust, his money and his respect, but all Marshal sees is an opportunity he wouldn’t otherwise see. Another opportunity presents itself when Sadie’s mother finds her artistic muse in Marshal and Mia, while he has found a different inspiration in Sadie, a beautiful, headstrong woman; Sadie calls to him to be a better man, to suppress the hate, venom and impending violence he is concealing. Could there be another way Jackson can pay for his crimes? So many things are hidden in Marshal’s eyes; his anguish, his secrets, the demons from the past that are always there, but there is something else Sadie sees, a future. Everything is brought to a head when Jackson and Marshal start to throw accusations at each other, leaving Sadie caught in the middle. Jackson has poisoned Sadie, planting lies, terrible doubts and half-truths; Marshal had underestimated him. Marshal knows he and Mia should leave town but how can he leave Sadie behind, not without her knowing, not without an explanation of his vendetta against Jackson. Can Sadie look past Jackson’s lies and forgive Marshal; is there any love left in her heart? And what of Jackson’s confession; now broken and being held accountable for the very first time. There is so much common ground between him and Jackson, why couldn’t Marshal see it sooner? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

Surprise Daddy bannerI, believe, I may have found another book boyfriend.  Marshal Howard is flawed with some rough edges. He’s an emotionally haunted man with dark, scarring thoughts that run through his system. He is the town ‘castoff’ (literally, this is one of the names the town calls him).  Marshal may have given up years ago, except for the one piece of sunshine is his life. His four-year-old daughter, Mia. When Marshal is in ‘dad mode’, holy heck, is he one tender, caring, loving and sexy man. He was sexy before in his tainted and broody stage, but when he goes into to dad made, watch out for exploding ovaries!!

Sadie is a twenty-one-year-old college student, who was guilt tripped into dropping out to come home and help take care of her mother. Her older brother couldn’t be bothered to help, so he did what he needed to do so Sadie would come home. Sadie is a very sweet girl, who when able to is able to display her spunky ways. There are issues at home where most everybody walks on eggshells. It’s when she takes a job for the ‘Castoff’, that her true personality comes through. She is Mia’s new nanny, and there’s wonderfully touching scenes between the two.

This is a very multi-dimensional book. It is a romance; however, it is also an angsty, action packed, emotionally brooding read with surprises built in. I enjoyed this book, but there were some plotline issues with inconsistencies. The story pace overall was well paced. However, there were a couple times that seemed to be rushed. I felt that I might’ve blinked to long and missed something. Somethings didn’t feel like they made sense, for example, Sadie’s phlebotomy student position. It almost felt like it was written to just get the initial interaction between Sadie, Marshal and Mia. The last two things that felt out of place, is the actual title of the book and the cover itself. I am COMPLETELY not complaining about the model, because he seems to fit the Marshal mold. Keep in mind, this book is angsty, broody and emotional, I felt like the cover a little too bright and cheerful (brightness wise).

Overall, there were many positives that would overshadow those few hiccups. The interaction between Marshal and Mia, was completely swoon worthy. His love for his daughter is completely evident and show you his true heart underneath all that hurt, despair and pain from ghosts past and present. Once you are done reading, you get a nice ‘Ahhhh’ moment. All issues have been tied up with a little bow and all is as it should be.

I’m really struggling with this review, so let me just put it all out there. Surprise Daddy is the first book I’ve read by Nicole Snow. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’m going to be honest and say I’ve never heard of Nicole Snow before, which isn’t a bad thing by any means. Word of mouth or social media is sometimes how we find our next favorite author. That being said I don’t know if I would consider her a favorite of mine, just yet anyway.

The writing style of this author, or at least this book since I have no frame of reference for any of her other novels, is not one I usually enjoy. It is written in 1st person POV and at times it rambles on so quickly I lost track of what was happening. Now I will admit, this is only the 2nd author I’ve read that uses the 1st person POV for storytelling. 99% of what I read is the standard 2nd person or even 3rd person storytelling with secondary character interactions. With the previous novels I read using this format, it took me a few pages of the 1st book to catch on but then it was easy to keep track in the subsequent novels. In Surprise Daddy it took me almost a full chapter to get the flow and even then it moved so fast sometimes I lost track of who was talking. Little Mia would sometimes get lost in the adult narrative and I would have to re-read to see her little girl wisdom in the story.

Surprise Daddy is a novel about Sarah “Sadie” Kelley and Marshal Howard. Sadie is back home trying to get herself established after leaving school to help out at home. Marshal is ex military and the town outcast trying to raise his young daughter as a single father. Sadie applies for a job as nanny to little Mia and gets involved with Marshal and sees the stigma he carries. There is also a backstory between Marshal and Jackson (Sadie’s brother).

I must admit the strong warring character personalities of Marshal are a little off-putting and far apart at times. He is a hard-nosed, rude talking, arrogant, know it all who dotes on his daughter. He rudely speaks to each person he encounters in the first few pages while sweet talking Mia. He obviously struggles with who he is now but it seems so manic sometimes I find it not realistic. Then it takes only a few speaking up moments by Sadie to get him falling in love already with her, sweet-talking her up and down. I’m all for the fall in love fast scenarios but even this one seemed rushed. And it so randomly comes up that she is a virgin, didn’t understand that one but it didn’t have a great impact on anything anyway.

This book has some typos, missing words, spelling errors etc. Reading an ebook I never know if that is just typing input errors not reflected in the paperback etc but it’s all I have to reference at the moment. There are lots of nicknames in this book, some good, some cute, not ignorant and rude. Marshal calls Sadie “Red”, the town calls Marshal “castoff”, Marshal calls Mia “honeybee”, Sadie calls Marshal “crasshole” it goes on and on. I’m not sure I am a fan of having a character have that type of stigma associated with them to where even Sadie’s parents call him “castoff”.

I would have liked to dive more into Sadie’s mothers mental issues and see if we could better understand her. She seemed to only have a placement as a conflict back ground player.

I did look at some other reviews after I finished the ARC. I did see a few that mentioned Surprise Daddy wasn’t written in the same style as some other books written by Nicole Snow. Even though this book had me confused and trying to stay focused throughout most of it and some places felt extremely rushed, I would probably give the author another chance to wow me. This story had potential, loads of potential but I didn’t feel like it was addressed well enough to make me invested in this story.

If you drool over alpha, grumpy bad boys with a heart of gold, you will LOVE Marshall

I have been slowly making my way through Ms. Snow's backlist and I have to say, I have yet to be disappointed. Surprise Daddy's characters have a similar feel to those in her newer books. Broken bad boys who have been done wrong, harboring a major chip on their shoulder and keeping the world at bay with their surly, growly, grumpy attitude.
I have to say, as a Daddy's girl myself, Marshall with his little girl Mia stole my heart. He's overprotective and sweet, the perfect girl dad.
Right alongside that sweetness and light, there's tension, angst, frustration, rage so thick and heavy. Stuck in the middle of it, unintentionally at first, is innocent Sadie. Although I will say, she may be sweet, wholesome, innocent, and seem naïve, but beneath all that, this woman is fierce, perceptive, empathic and exactly the right light, goodness and positive force Marshall needs fight his demons. There's also a slow burn tension between the two. The slow burn adds to another kind of tension within the pages. Marshall is fighting his attraction, but Sadie is determined, making resistance futile. Even from early on, a reader can tell that these two are meant to be. They just work together in all the wonderful and important ways. The complications and conflicts are set aside, yet won't be ignored. Ignorance only lasts so long and the tension of those layered conflicts and complications builds and builds and builds until everything combusts and breaks apart.
The other characters in this book are equally interesting and integral to Marshall and Sadie's story. Family adds to the complications while ghosts perpetuate the conflict. Everything is intertwined and causes Marshall so much anguish even as Sadie soothes and quiets, lightening the darkness. Sadie's brother is a major conflict for both Marshall and Sadie, creating havoc for everyone, not just our beloved couple.
Overall, for all those reasons above and so much more, this book a pulse-pounding, heart racing, nail biting, edge of your seat, sweaty, swoony read. Marshall, through Sadie's love for him, his love for her and his little Mia, is able to pivot his off-putting single dad grumpy attitude into sweet, sexy, filthy talking growling alpha husband and dad.
If you have never read a Nicole Snow book before, Surprise Daddy is a great stand alone to give her books a try. I personally LOVE this author's books and happily, excitedly and honestly share my love for each one. Something about this author's writing and storytelling style just speaks to me. And as an avid romance reader, HEAs are a must have. This author always delivers!

"You slayed the demons. You gave me hope."

When I saw the cover for this story and the title; I thought it was going to be a romantic comedy; lighthearted and fun. It was sweet, but emotionally dark. I want to start by saying that I am not sure that the title fits this story: there is a “surprise pregnancy” but it was near the end of the story and was almost a secondary story line. Also I felt like cover should have been a bit darker in its visuals as this is not a “bright” story (at least for me). These are little issues that did not affect my rating, just thought I would mention in case someone is buying the book by the cover.

Review:
What a beautiful and emotional story of the personal aftermath of war! This is a story of what some people have to live with, deal with, and suffer through when they are asked to live with the choices of war. This is a darker story, not in actions, but in emotions. It is contains a bruiting cold alpha male, a young beautiful and persistent woman, a sweet smart child and a fluffy (albeit fat) cat.
This is the story of Sadie and Marshal. Sadie is a student who has an encounter with Marshal and is driven to know more about him. She is determined, smart, and full of love. Marshal is the town outcast. He is cold, crass, and emotionally absent (to all but Mia; his daughter). From the first meeting (maybe their second), there is an instant spark between Sadie and Marshal; it starts as an angry determined spark, but there none the less. I enjoyed reading the budding romance between these two as it was built on and enhanced by understanding, unconditional love, trust and faith in each other. Sadie holds her own against Marshal and does not let him get away with his emotional distance, she challenges him and proves there is more to life than his painful memories. I have to say I fell in book lust with Marshal at the 4% mark, and only fell deeper as the story went on. I do believe he found his forever in Sadie.

This is more than a romance; it is a personal journey into the path of healing; with a bit of revenge on the side. I loved Sadie and Marshal, but the secondary characters; especially, Sadie's mother, grew the story to be more than just a common romance. There are many difficult issues that are faced in this story: PTSD, revenge, hatred; along with many strong emotions: anxiety, anger, fear, passion and love. There is a bit of humor, some sweetness, and a swoon worthy scene or two. It felt emotionally dark at times, as I could feel Marshal's pain, and I wanted to help him get his vengeance; but the story was beyond my expectations. I did not put it down; I crawled inside the story and lived there till the end.

The outcome of this story is sweet if a bit rushed at the end. Most of the action is in the last few chapters and conclusion of the story. If I had to make one change to the story it would be that I would have loved more action throughout the story mixed into the budding romance. I also would have loved an extended epilogue a few years later; out of pure curiosity to where the characters are now.

Nicole Snow has never disappointed me in her works. She has proven to be a universal writer and perfected whatever story she decides to write. This was just another wonderful story and worth the read. I received and ARC and am leaving an honest review.

A Hot Romance That Will Make You Go....WOW

Holy help me, I LOVED this story!!! I love Nicole Snow's books and this one is no exception. The cover is just as delicious as the story. A dark and emotional romance that deals with a man bent on revenge for his brothers that didn't make it home from a mission and a woman bent on bringing light to his dark soul. Marshal and Sadie are the perfect example of how light and dark go together. You can't help but to fall in love with Marshal and his rough personality knowing he will do anything to protect his daughter and those he loves. Sadie (Red as Marshal dubs her) is kept in the dark by everyone and is flying blind through this story finds roots with Marshal and Mia. Her family is a side story with their problems blends well and adds to the suspense.

Sadie is working towards being a phlebitis as an intern when the office gets into a tizzy because HE is here. The HE in question is Marshal Howard, aka The Castoff and Papa Bear, with his precious little girl Mia. Marshal is the ultimate alpha male, tall, dark, handsome, full of muscle and covered in ink but is also rude, demanding, gruff and growls. Ohhhh and he needs a nanny. Sadie "Red" applies for the nanny position and is flat out told no until Marshal needs help in a pinch. The sparks between the two could start a forest fire, but it would be dangerous and foolish to explore. Marshal has been shunned by the town because of a drunken fight by the towns "hero", (Red's older brother) but they don't know the whole story of what really happened that horrible day in Afghanistan. Marshal lives with the ghosts and is making plans of revenge to put those ghosts at peace but each day spent with Red puts that revenge further from his mind. Red is a caring and passionate woman that takes no crap from Marshal and puts him in his place more than once. When these two finally come together it's sooo explosive and right even with Marshal's demanding ways and dirty talk. Just when things are finally going right Red's brother opens his manipulating lying can of worms and everything comes crashing down forcing Marshal into hiding with Mia. Can Red fight through her hurt and pain to see what is real and reach for the love Marshal has for her before it's too late?? Marshal isn't the only one with a secret!!! Must one click and read today!!! Can't wait to read more from Nicole Snow!!

Marshal Howard has his precious daughter, Mia into the doctors office because she is sick and the doctor has determined that she needs blood work, but wants Mia and "Castoff" daddy out of the office ASAP. The nurse that's up to do the blood work happens to be a student nurse by the name of Sadie Kelley, but she really doesn't want to do it because she's afraid that Marshal might recognize her. So before he comes in, she slips off her name tag so that he can't see her last name. Marshal and Sadie's brother Jackson had some problems a couple of years back, so she doesn't want him getting upset with her while she is doing the blood work on his little girl. When Marshal leaves the doctors office one of the other nurses is taking down some small papers and tells Sadie to trash them. Of course she wants to know what it is and the nurse tells her that he is looking for a nanny and she had already told him that he couldn't put those up in their office, so they had to come down. Something made Sadie keep one of them and the next day she went and applied for the nanny position. Marshal remembers her and there's no way he's going to hire her, none. Except that at that exact moment something happens and he has to have the help, so he said okay this will be your trial run, starting now. Within days Marshal has decided he would be lost without Sadie, she doesn't know that he's using her to exact revenge on her brother. But he also doesn't realize that he is fighting a losing battle because Sadie has worked her magic on him and she is now under his Skin and he doesn't want to let her go.
I have read some other books by Nicole Snow, all of them being her MC series. I think there were two different sets and I absolutely loved those series, that is what I mainly like to read about. That being said, I really enjoyed Surprise Daddy. It was a different kind of book than what I was expecting from her but it was a very pleasant change. I felt like the characters in this book fit together perfectly, with the right amount of sex appeal, the right amount of fight, and the right amount of love. You have love, laughter, and happily ever after. What more could you ask for. I would recommend this book to all over the age of eighteen and please enjoy.

This is the first book I’ve read of Nicole Snow’s and I wasn’t disappointed!

Sadie is a young, feisty woman, who just wants to find her purpose in life, when she is guilt-tripped by her brother Jackson, to come home and help her Dad look after her Mum, who is mentally unwell.

Jackson is an a$$, he not only guilt-trips her into giving up and coming home, but he acts like he can dictate to her how to live her life. He's an arrogant, rude jerk, who treats her like dirt!

Sadie’s gets a job training at the clinic and it’s there she meets Marshal, when he comes in with his daughter Mia.
Marshal is hot, gritty and alpha through and through, but is also cold and rude! However, Sadie is young and sassy enough to not take Marshal's cr@p!

Marshal who is known as the town outcast, but is actually very much misunderstood, as the real reason Marshal is moody and cold, is that he’s living with the aftermath of being at war.

Sadie hearing that Marshal is looking for a nanny for Mia decides to apply, despite hearing all the rumours about him. Marshal not knowing who she is at first and Sadie hoping he doesn’t recognise her name,
as Marshal and her brother, Jackson, have bad blood between them.

Mia though is instantly drawn to Sadie and watching the tenderness Marshal has for his daughter, she knows there’s more to this man than meets the eye.

Sadie spends more and more time with Marshal and Mia and eventually moves in with them, but it doesn’t take long before Jackson finds out and then h€ll breaks loose!

Marshal knew there was something familiar about Sadie, but how could he forget Jackson had a little sister, could he keep her as his nanny and still get the revenge he feels he needs as he can't deny the chemistry between them, but will this become a problem?

Everything is brought to a head when Jackson and Marshal start to throw accusations, leaving Sadie caught between them both and being brainwashed by Jackson, what will she do why she realises she’s pregnant with Marshal’s baby?

Will Jackson pay for what he did?

Can Marshal see passed who Sadie is related to and make a go of things?

Or will he pack up and leave town to start afresh?

Cheesy title should have been a clue that this is one of those churn em out authors. As in pushes out a book every month or two. Means they just can't be very good because they clearly can't have that much effort put in to them. The writing proves that with the many grammatical problems, too many wrong words used, punctuation errors, no editing or proofreading done and repetitiveness, like she calls him Mr Castoff like 10 times before page 7. Then the weirdest thing, the author clearly has a very iirritating habit of writing things in threes-

'He's cold. He's dangerous. He's crazy.'.

'Her beauty. Her innocence. Her cliche'

'War. Mistakes. Murder' and 'Screwed. Blued. Tattooed'. I don't even know what "Blued" refers to?

I need hope. I need money. I need a future'.

'Our best became a clusterfuck. Our best got good men killed. Our best was a completely preventable shit' and

'Not until it's over... Not until he's....  Not until his hands.."

'So hot... So wild... So hard..'

'Happy, Soft. Freeing'.

'Taken. Filled. Stretched'. And

"Natural. Comfortable. Right'.

I could give more and more and more, x3 x3 x3, but OMG enough! Those last two examples of three's were on the same page, in the same paragraph!

There was at least some semblance of a premise, soilder gets other soilders killed, a surviving one vows revenge but insta-lust with his target's younger sister gets in the way, as does a cute little daughter. But mostly I was bored. I did like the little girl and some of the scenes with the H and h but honestly the heated scenes were too ridiculous. They became so unbelievable that they were simply stupid and by 56% I was rolling my eyes and struggling to make myself keepreading.

I don't mind authors using smut to sell their books but the scenes have to be at least kinda plausible otherwise it's just a lack of substance. Took 4 breaks during the reading of this because I was bored. Honestly its a novella, a basic plot, no depth to anything, insta lust/insta-love, and the need for vengeance all wrapped up neatly and easily and quickly. So 2 to 3 stars max.
