So much of this book is great, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that at the beginning of the book when he is dressed like an elf/town crier he said he felt foolish to be dressed like someone from old Victorian times. The Victorian times happened until the early 20th century and it encompassed queen Victoria’s life. So at the time he was dressed like that it still was Victorian times. I wouldn’t normally say anything but it is a pet peeve of mine when historical romance writers don’t get their history right. Not to mention at the end when they said she was going to give birth on her due date, they just knew what season the baby was coming not a specific day at all having said that I wish I wasn’t so anally retentive when it comes to things like that. I still found this book to be very good and loved the romance but thought the surprise could’ve been executed better. All the trouble they went through just to be like here is this and then here is this. So skillfully arranged just to be like Wham! Bam, but either way I thought it was an enjoyable story for the most part. I would definitely recommend this to those who like mail order bride stories as this one is a better one than most of the trash out there.

Set in the Victorian Era, it speaks as if the Victorian Era was ages ago. A big deal made of "Victorian Era Town Crier" costume—the one era documented as having no town criers. (They are back in places now for touristy reasons.)

There were a few emotional points, but mostly it was just cute. Holly is sacrificing her future happiness to save her four younger sisters from being placed as orphans and, most likely, separated. She is resolved to this choice even after falling in love with David. And David goes about doing everything right in the wrong way, upsetting the young, very pregnant widow.

The story barrels along to the predictable happy ending, leaving everyone, even the reader, with a sappy smile.

Amazing story.
Another heartwarming story amidst the joyous celebration of Christmas. This is an amazing story about Holly who is going to be a Mail Order Bride so she can rescue her four sisters. When the train is robbed and she is injured David comes to her rescue and her journey is delayed. What started out as journey that she had to make to save her sisters turned into the best thing that had ever happened to her. I would definitely recommend this amazing, uplifting story.

This is such a sweet story. A widow who is expecting a baby at any time was on the train was robbed and she was hurt. David who was hurt by a woman has said he will never marry. He is the one who found her and helped her.
Holly Bell needs to be married before the end of the year to save her sisters from the orphanage. She is promised to a man and California a miner.
Well things have a way of changing so I recommend you read this book to see all the twists and turns and happy endings here.

What a wonderful Christmas story. This story was especially great because all of the brides from Wichita Falls and Mill Ridge series and their husbands were included in the story. Christmas and a surprise wedding what more could you want? As with all of the books I've read by Cyndi Raye, I would highly recommend this book.

A quick well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Mail order brides of old are good to look back on how life was at one time. This is about David finding his cousin Lily and moving to Wichita Falls where he ends up meeting Holly who is trying to make a better life for her and her four sisters.

A sweet clean Christmas romance, which includes a train robbery, Mr and Mrs Santa Claus and all the Wichita mail order brides, plus some cute puppies. This was a prize and the review is voluntary.
