As snow begins to fall in Sequoia, things have settled into a routine. Both Jaguar and Rebekah have opened their businesses, the merchants on Main Street are preparing for the Christmas sales season, and Zion has moved forward with her plans to open a second Caffeinator location. Her relationship with Tate has progressed, even if they find it difficult to get time alone, and Logan seems to be settling in.Just when they think everything is nearly perfect, a mysterious man appears and throws everything into chaos, threatening Logan’s future and dragging Zion and Tate into a new mystery. With the stakes as high as the snow drifts, Zion must help Tate solve a murder that reminds her of the reason she came to Sequoia in the first place.

The ZION SAWYER COZY MYSTERY series is a delight to work on. And CAFFE MACCHIATO is no exception. One of the things I love about ML Hamilton's work is the depth of character, the detail of locale and the incredible use of humor. CAFFE MACCHIATO has all these and much more. Hamilton has a remarkable sensitivity to her heroes AND her villains. In every story there is an opportunity to encounter real humanity; to wonder if I would actually make different choices if it were me in that situation. This is most clearly illustrated (and in riveting fashion) in the interrogation scenes and criminal confessions. As for the story - it's Christmas time in Sequoia and a stranger comes to town. Tate wrestles with his past and his present as he attempts to be a role model for his young employee at The Hammer Tyme. We see developments with Zion's 'ex'. And new businesses are springing up like snowflakes in this mountain town - each with as clever a name as the last. I want to live in Sequoia!
( Format : Audiobook ) "Dead men can't work." Christmas is coming to Sequoia's and, at !ast, the first show has arrived heralding in the start of the tourist ski sezson. The stores are getting busy and Trixje, in the shop next door to the Caffeinator, suggests another winter festival like the successful summer one they have just had. But Zion is too busy: she has to get the new coffee kiosk ready to open and help get her friend Rebekah's apartment finished so she can have her own home back: only the will she and new boy friend Tate have any privacy. All seems to be running smoothly in the little town until Zion's father calls her, desperately unhappy about her mother's new obsession, a man arrives to make life difficult for Tate's newly fostered son, Logan, and a death throws all of them into confusion.Sent
M.L.Hamilton's ongoing stories from Sequoia's get better as the series continues, not so much for the murder mysteries themselves, but in reconnecting with the inhabitants, watching as they grow and interact together. It is possible to read each as a standalone story but much more enjoyable if taken in sequence because of this. And once again, narrator Kelley Hazen gives each of the numerous characters extra personality and life by voicing each seperately: she is astonishingly good at this, with individually performed renderings for male as well as female protagonists. There is emotion and laughter in these books, just as there would be in real life - and, of couse, a mystery to solve.
I was fortunate in being freely gifted with a complimentary copy of Caffe Macchiato, fourth in the Zion Sawyer series, by the rights holder, at my request. Thank you. This is such an enjoyable series, always a pleasure to return to Sequoia's streets. As a bonus, at the conclusion of the book, there is a short preview taste of the start of book 5, Americano. I'm looking forward to it.
"Caffe Macchiato" is another good installment in the series. As we visit Sequoia for the fourth time, we know exactly what to expect: a fast paced plot, a murder which hits close to home for Zion and Tate, and some good twists and turns on the way to a satisfactory ending and the solution of the crime, with yet more background stories of the personal lives of most of the characters that we've got to like throughout books 1-3...:)
Ms Hamilton doesn't disappoint. Her characters live - they develop, they go through their personal ups and downs, and they learn from experience, sometimes the hard way, that life means constant change, with a lot of surprises for us on the way to the end (whatever that end may be). The murder case, as always, is engaging emotionally and makes us keep fingers crossed for Zion and Tate and their investigation. And the town of Sequoia, with its colourful citizens, becomes even closer to our hearts (I really feel like I'd like to move there:)).
Narration by Ms Hazen is great, as in all the books in the series. She keeps up the steady pace of her reading, with great voicing of individual characters and a fantastic balance between the narrative and the emotional... A job very well done:)

This novels stand out feature is it's vivid portrayal of the coffee shop setting. Hamilton's attention to detail and in describing the aromas, sites, and sounds of Caffe Macchiato creates a real atmosphere that brings readers into the heart of the story. The protagonist is the charismatic and relatable Jolie Bloom. There is the "Caffee Macchiato" regulars, detective Damon O'Shea, Brianna Winston- Beaufort and Elena, Jolie's best friend that are the main characters in this read. The plot revolves around a murder that occurs within the cozy confines of "Caffee Macchiato" which prompts the coffee shops co-owner, Jolie Bloom, to take on the role of an amateur sleuth to solve the mystery. The mystery itself is well crafted, with plenty of surprises and red herrings. The narrative gradually reveals the secrets hidden beneath the surface of this small town. The pacing is great, with a gradual buildup of tension that keeps the pages turning. The novel combines elements of cozy mystery, small town charm, and the inviting atmosphere of a coffee shop, making for an engaging and enjoyable read. The reader goes on a journey of discovery where the love of coffee, friendship, and the pursuit of justice interacts in a captivating and satisfying story. I highly recommend you add this novel to your TBR list.
Caffe Macchiato was another great read by M.L. Hamilton. This is book four in the Zion Sawyer Cozy Mystery Series. Things are finally settling in Sequoia. Jaguar and Rebekah have finally opened their businesses and Zion is looking to open her second Caffeinator location. Her and Tate are growing as a couple even though they don't have any alone time. Tate and Logan seem to be getting along well with their new relationship as foster father and foster son. There is one person who is looking to get their way but things don't go as he plans when he is discovered dead. I enjoyed reading about Zion and Tate looking into the murder. I can't wait to read more of what happens in Sequoia.
Check out this next book in A Zion Sawyer Cozy Mystery series. All your favorite characters in Sequoia are back, and the relationships continue to blossom. Logan is a central character in the story.
M.L. Hamilton does a great job of building on the characters she has created. I’m so invested in this series... I feel like I really know the characters.
Kelley Hazen is a master narrator. She brings each of the characters to life with different voices and mannerisms. It’s always a joy to listen to her performances.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very entertaining. Life has settled into a nice pace for the residents of Sequoia. With the first snow of the season comes trouble for Tate and Logan. That trouble leads Tate and Zion into another murder case. The characters and the story line is so enthralling you just keep listening much longer then you intended. This combination of author and narrator never fails to draw you into their world. Hopefully Book 5 will be ready soon.
Zion's friend Rebecca shows up for a visit and then Zion learns that Rebecca has quit her job. Rebecca ends up giving Zion ideas for her business and decides to open her own business in Sequoia. Logan's father Mitchell Baxter shows up and is awarded supervised visitation with Logan and then ends up murdered. Tate helps with the investigation and finds Logan's half brother. The editing was good but ending wasn't really a surprise. Am really enjoying this series; love the characters in Sequoia. Highly recommend this book and the series.
Surely this is not the end of Zion and Tate! Boo hoo! Book number four has been delightful! Knowing it’s the end doesn’t make the end actually arriving any easier.
A thoroughly delightful series with a cast of characters that makes one just love to pick up the book. Jump into the town of Sequoia with Zion and Tate and enjoy the warmth generated through the fellowship and love these characters share for one another.
Very contrived with little suspense. I have read every book Miss Hamilton has written save the zombie series; her writing has become predictable and the characters are less interesting. Not sure I will read anymore of her books.
Skin's family keeps her on her toes with tidbits from their younger days. Interesting and hilarious. That's foster son has more family come to town. Of course their is a murder that keeps everyone on their toes. Will Zion and Tate ever have time?
I started the first book in the Zion Sawyer series not knowing anything about the author or the series. After I finished the first book I had to continue until I had read all of the books in the series. Fun and easy to read mystery series.
Been reading this series from the beginning. I’m invested in all the characters and all the new ones that come along. Loving this series and the mysteries that come along. I hope ther are many more names of coffees so this series can continue.
As always ML has kept me riveted in Sequoia with my favorite couple next to Peyton and Marco. This whole series has grown with each book can't wait for the next one.
Uma narrativa de detetives que coloca em teste a paciência dos protagonistas, bem como em cheque suas capacidades de enfrentamento dos próprios demônios. Muito bom.
Really enjoying this series. Each book adds more depth to the characters. Mystery is enough to be entertaining but not too easily solved. On to book #5!
Another great cozy mystery. I love how M.L. gets all the community involved. Now with the new installment there will be more mystery to solve. Love it.
