She dismissed me. That was her first mistake. She thought I was a nice guy. That was her second. She had hope. That was the final straw. I am Onyx Blake. I’m a powerhouse in an ugly underworld only found in her nightmares. She’s going to learn quickly, I’m not the man to let anything go … Including her.
Authors Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele team up to push beyond the boundaries, crossing a line into a deep, dangerous, and forbidden world. One where no one escapes, even if they beg to.
This is the Power Chain Series – a four book series of interconnected stand-alone romances. Series reading order: Power Chain PowerHouse Power Player PowerLess OverPowered
USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Chelsea Camaron is a small town Carolina girl with a big imagination. She is a wife and mom chasing her dreams.
She writes contemporary romance, erotic suspense, and psychological thrillers. She loves to write blue-collar men who have real problems with a fictional twist. From mechanics to bikers to oil riggers to smokejumpers, bar owners, and beyond, she loves a strong hero who works hard and plays harder.
I was glad I’d read the free prequel first because if not I’m not sure I’d have stuck with this. Onyx is not a particularly likeable man, he’s ruthless and unyielding. It was only the glimpse of his youth from Power Chain that made me continue beyond the first chapter.
This book had been recommended by a friend and I can see why she loved it so much. She loves a strong alpha male who remains strong right to the end of the book.
Unfortunately I didn’t love it quite as much, for me it was a very mixed bag.
The more I read the more I grew to like Onyx and by the end of the book I was a little in love with him. I struggled a little early on with him constantly telling us how bad he was. I mean I’m not arguing with him I just didn’t need to be told so often.
Toryn. Where do I start with her? I got a little fed up with her trying to work out what her sister was doing with Onyx. I mean it was glaringly obvious. I don’t mind her not being too bright but her constantly asking was driving me nuts. I mean seriously what else would a rich happily married woman want.
My sister had everything in her grasp. She had an adoring husband, a beautiful home, and money. She always said she wanted to go to Hawaii at some point, but Onyx was no travel agent. Malcom and her had friends they saw regularly, but none stood out to have a connection to Onyx.
So it’s obvious what Kennedy wanted especially considering that...
She expelled a long breath. “You know we wanted to have kids. We tried the natural way, and I found out that I’m completely infertile.” She sniffled on the other end, and my heart broke for her. I did know this because I rushed over to comfort her after the doctor’s appointment that day.
I started skimming at this point because I was so sick of Tarryn being clueless. But once everything came out I settled back in and then came the big surprise (well I thought at the time it was a big surprise but that shows what little I know). It seemed a little OTT but I continued on and I was enjoying it for the most part. Okay Tarryn was still annoying me but it wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle.
Then near the end of the book came a huge totally unbelievable OTT moment.
Honestly it was too much for me, it was near the end so I continued on but I just think this book had enough going on already it didn’t need this (in my opinion).

This book was a pleasant surprise. The story is exciting in a different way. The authors lead the reader to suspect something tremendous, but the answer is something very different.
Torryn McAllister was in trouble, so she went to her sister, Kennedy, for help. Some time ago, Kennedy had married Malcolm. To Torryn, he was a difficult man to decipher, but as her sister was happy, Torryn was not involved. The fact is that he was very rich and thanks to this, they were able to give a decent burial to their mother 8 months ago.
Upon arriving at her sister's house, Torryn sees that they had visitors, two men. One was a lawyer, the other was mysterious in a way that fiddled with Torryn's guts, and worse, she was involved in a mysterious negotiation.
The nature of this negotiation, as well as with what this mysterious man whose name had a history behind, Onyx Blake, is the focal point of the plot, so you will have to read it to find out.
For now, the only thing Torryn knew was that: => She would be under the custody of Onyx for six weeks; => Onyx Blake was not a man she should play with.
Onyx was a very wealthy businessman. It was not always like this. His past was as black as his name. He was focused and disciplined. And now that he'd tasted Torryn's taste, he'd hardly let her go...
I loved the story and could not drop the book until I finished it. Can not wait for Onyx' friends stories. 5 stars
Onyx Blake is a man you will love to hate and love all over again. He's a power house and Torryn is so much more than Collateral - read for yourself to find out
When I read the description I said ‘Ooohhh.’ Then I saw ‘going darker than ever before’ at the end of the description I said ‘Yes, Please’...well, let’s be completely honest, when I saw Ryan Michele was starting a new series with Chelsea Camaron (and author I haven’t yet read but have on my TBR list) I said Yes. Please. The ‘going darker’ simply had me making grabby hands at the book and I devoured PowerHouse. It had my brain feeling like with was playing a weird mix of Jai Alai and Frogger (I know, wonky, but go with it) as I did my best to keep up with the cray cray going on with Onyx and Torryn, but I devoured every word until there were no more words to read.
So, the whole Onyx and Torryn making my brain hurt with their crazy has me in a strange spot with them because while I didn’t absolutely love them, I was fascinated by them and their reasons for doing things, or not, and their reactions. I swear I’m still trying to process it all. But what I had to give them major kudos for was they were 1) Absolutely honest with themselves, even when they argued with themselves and 2) They were determined to get their way ~ whether they did or not...well, you have to read the book to find out.
Now for their relationship...when it comes to dark romance anything goes and the smexy between them was nuclear, and they never denied it, but the whiplash was real between these two. It made for an interesting ride, an extremely hot, don’t bother with wearing panties because they will simply self destruction once these two get going ride, but a very interesting one and while I still question the sanity of their love, I can’t deny that they are definitely meant for each other.
I kinda feel as if my review is more random and verbal vomit-y than my norm, but that’s what the book did to me. It got me all kinds of key’d up and it’s a testament to the author’s creativity. The writing was engaging, seamless and well paced and I enjoyed the dual 1st person POV. The setting of the story was quite interesting because you have that moment where you think you know what’s going on, only to realize that you have no clue whatsoever and when it’s all revealed, it’s actually kind of a mindfuck, a good one, but still a mindfuck. I did have one of my “Wait. What...seriously’ moments towards the end, and yes in the midst of all the crazy, I had one that brought me up short and I still have an issue with, but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the book. And as for the secondary characters...there are three I really, REALLY, want to know more about soooooo bring on the next in the series!

The hero is a super alpha-hole, which normally is my jam. Unfortunately the actual storyline was too anemic, and the payout wasn't worth the amount of belief suspension required.
This book was just okay for me. It was too dark at points, Onyx was too much of an a**hole for me to even remotely like him enough for redemption. Torryn was a doormat for most of this book and I had little to no respect for her. Stockholm Syndrome became a concern for me. The whole concept was a bit contrived for me and I really didn't like either main character much at all. I am not a fan of people being ruled by their libido's and not having enough fortitude to stand up for themselves. Onyx was just too much of a bully and had no respect for anyone. When it came out what he did for a living, I was even more confused. I usually like both of these authors but this one missed the mark for me personally.
The first in a new series, this was a good start. Makes me wonder if the others are going to be as good as this.... Being raised in difficult circumstances,Onyx’ friends are the only people that matter to him. Torryn loves her sister, the only family she has left after their mother died. But her sister, and her brother in law, have made a deal with Onyx and he’s come to collect.....taking her as Collateral. While there is chemistry between them, there’s also a lot of tension. He’s starting to feel things he doesn’t want to,and she has the same problem. Fastpaced, wellwritten, this was a story i enjoyed reading and i want to find out what happens to his friends.....
I received this book from the authors for an honest review.
What the actual EFF did I read?? OMG these ladies totally blew me away. I love a good anti-hero book thanks to Ryan introducing me to the genre a few years ago. She grabbed me, shook me and said “Woman you need to read THIS BOOK!!” So yeah, I was excited to see her and my Sister Wife team up to write one too.
First up, Dane…. I am just sayin’ (AND I told CC), I am all over him like White on Rice ladies so yeah don’t even think about it. I am straight up warning you away NOW. I am super claimy with my book husbands. Ok back to Onxy….there is absolutely no reason why I should but I love the hell outta him. As CC told me…He is a dick but a dick with a heart 😊 #NiceTagLine
Onxy is everything you need to say away from. He does illegal business but it’s also kinda good illegal business so that makes it ok…..Yeah total stockholmed with him I tell ya. Torryn AKA Collateral is just that…..she was in the wrong place and the wrong time with the wrong people. She is forced and then agrees to stay to help her sister. I mean when you find out why she openly agrees to say with her kidnapper, you would stay too.
I can’t begin to get into the plot because that would spoil EVERYTHING for you and trust me, YOU NEED TO EXPERIENCE IT. Onxy and Torryn are a hell of a couple. They both push and pull. They both love and love hard. They both are loyal to those they love and they both are lost with out the other.
The plot is insane and once you think you know it all, it gets a whole new level of insane. Then you think ok its all good, I got this and then BOOM more crazy. This book was not one you could put down. Be ready to sit and read, read, read each and every page like I did. After I was like WHOOOOOAAAA and then I immediately messaged CC to say WHAT DID YOU DO TO ME!!!!!!!
Wow… I am a fan of both of these amazing authors and this is dark. This pushes the boundaries of what is right and definitely crosses into illegal but I could not stop. I devoured Powerhouse. I could not stop reading.
I was invested in Onyx and Collateral (aka Torryn). Their story was one I had to know from beginning to end. At their first meeting there was no doubt that there was more to their story. I loved the twist that their story took and never saw it coming. I loved the snarky attitudes, the quick attitudes, and the full flamed heat between them. There was so much heat between these two that I could feel it coming off the pages.
The Powerhouse series is one that I cannot wait to read more of. I am excited to see what else Chelsea Camaron and Michele Ryan can bring to the pages.
I absolutely loved this story which focused on Onyx and Torryn. I pretty much loved ALMOST everything about them, lol. The storyline was INTRIGUING, the story flowed almost perfectly for me with the exception of the very end, wink, wink, I wasn't all that crazy about the last 10%...... I, for one, am NOT one for the "separations" at the end of a book especially where it didn't need to be. For me, it was too long of one (albeit shorter than some I have read but still it was not necessary in my opinion) and I wasn't all that keen on the way they came back together either. That's just my opinion.
All in all, a great read and I am HOOKED and can't wait for the rest of this gang's stories!!!!!!!!

Onyx is the broody alpha ahole you love to hate and hate to love. He's a bad guy and makes no apologies. He owns who he is and there is no in between with him. What you see is what you get. I love when Chelsea embraces her dark side and when her and Ryan Michele write together magic happens. If you are looking for a hero who is rough around the edges but has a sweet spot for his one and only then read this book :)
I really enjoyed Powerhouse I'm a fan of both Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele so to see such talent create brilliance is amazing . My emotions were all over the place while reading this , I always love going into a book not knowing what to expect and that is what I got with this story . Don't want to give to much away because I want you to experience Powerhouse if you want a little incite on the hero you should definitely get Power chain it's a little novella prequel . Lets just say Onyx and Torryn don't meet in such a meet cute kind of way the undeniable attraction between them was instant they couldn't help their intense connection that cause a lot of steamy sex scenes . Onyx is a very powerful hero who likes things a certain way and any one who wrongs him better run far far far away , he shows alot of power in the bedroom if you know what I mean and he could be kind but in a different way that I can't get into but it made me swoon a bit . Torryn was a good heroine even though she did frustrate me at times she never lost her sassyness and did a very selfless thing so I thought she was very brave . I can't wait to see whats to come in the Power chain series especially with the way it ended need it like right know please . If you are new to Chelsea and Ryan they are definite must read authors . copy provided for honest review **************************************** hero=10 heroine=9 secondary characters=9 Chemistry=10 steam=9 romance=6 humor=3 darkness level=5 action=4 mystery=5 enjoyment=10 angst=3 story line=10 Story ending=10 character development=10 pacing=10 cover=10 stars=5 would I recommend this book=yes would I re read this book=yes would I read future books by this author=yes
Ryan Michele and Chelsea Camaron are phenomenal apart but together they are explosive, raw, sexy, and bleed emotion. These two authors are already favorites of mine and go-tos when I want an mc romance but holy smokes this new series... different, darker, edgier, grittier... their absolute best work yet y'all!
I'm not sure what I was expecting with that intriguing synopsis but what these ladies gave me was nothing like I expected...at all but only in the best ways.
Powerhouse is the first book in the Power Chain series and yeah it did not let me down, delivering an powerful, intense, twisted romance that gripped my heart, left me on the edge of my seat, and set my body on fire. I moved through this book, digging deep in the journey, getting lost from cover to cover. Every word and every single unforgettable moment between Onyx and Torryn captivated me wholly and completely.
If your looking for the secrets from me then keep on moving... this is an experience... one you just need to take and trust they will get you there. Onyx is the one you love to hate and Torryn... well you need to read to find out.
If you like your books sexier, edgier, and a little on the dark side then I definitely think you should run to buy this one!
Holy. Wow. What the fluff did I just read? This book was a runaway train of crazy.
When I saw Chelsea Camaron & Ryan Michele were writing a new series, I was powerless against them (see what I did there?). I love a good anti-hero book but wow we wow, Onyx Blake is something else entirely. He's the guy you're scared spitless of but secretly can't stand being away from. He's like oxygen, too much of makes you feel lightheaded but you can't live without it. His soul is black, bleak and ruthless. No one dares defy him. Oh, a couple people might try but they don't live to tell the take.
Torryn McAllister is just collateral on a deal gone wrong. Onyx holds all the keys to her world and she's his prisoner. She hates him with every fiber of her being, except for the ones fiercely attracted to him. He's a cold, ruthless, shell of a man and no one has the power to change him, least of all someone he calls collateral.
I loved and kind of hated this book. There are parts that I truly couldn't stand but they explain the crazy and are all part of this weird, fascinating package. This couple couldn't be more f'ed up if they tried but couldn't possible belong anywhere except together. The magic of these authors is that I walk away from this book not even sure how I feel but still want, scratch that, NEED, the next book in the series... like yesterday.
This powerful writing duo of Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele have done it again. Just when you think the couldn’t possibly top their last book they exceeded my expectations. I knew it would be an awesome read but this was mind blowing!! 5 stars isn’t enough. The story of Onyx and Torryn is so much more than your typical romance. It’s deep dark twist and turns have you on the edge of your seat! It’s an emotional roller coaster ride. Right when you think oh yes I know what’s coming BOOM you don’t. But no spoilers from me go get it now. You won’t be sorry. The chemistry is down right on every of the hottest I think I have every read oh I’m still talking. GO GET IT NOW! You won’t be able to lay this book down until the end!
Wow how to start this review... Well with a WARNING!! This is not a light sweet romance. This is a dark, dirty, dangerous, emotional and hot as Hades! Oynx is definitely an anti hero and Torryn is a strong loyal woman and sister. The story is intense and at times a little uncomfortable. But it will keep you captivated until the very end. You will not want to stop reading and the anticipation for Paxton's story will have you pre-ordering it (if able just not in Amazon yet). Hea, no epilogue but has a free prequel you can get that helps understand these four tortured boys turned into powerfully hard men.
PowerHouse (Power Chain #1) by Chelsea Camaron and Ryan Michele is a different and unique kind of romance. It is a little raw and shows the dark side of a man who has made his life along with his most trusted friends and people live in fear. He is used to taking what he wants and anyone be damned to stand in his way. The writing is clever and engaging and I loved to hate the a*hole of main character in this story. Just when you thought you knew where the story was going, the authors took a jump and a twist and pulled you along to a completely new way.
A brand new series by Chelsea & Ryan. Didn’t quite know what to expect, but boy, what a whirlwind of excitement and scary thrills. It was as a dark and gritty tale with many violent and bloody thirsty situations and intense sexual play. Onyx Blake is the guy you love to hate and he’s as scary as the devil himself. There’s so much I want say but I can’t with out letting some spoilers slip. I’ll just say this was an amazing ride, I was hooked immediately from the start, you don’t want to miss this book, it was a great read. It’s a stand-alone, and I can’t wait for the next story. This is going to be an awesome series.
This was sooo much more than what I was expecting. I went in thinking I was gonna read one thing and I ended the book completely taken by surprise, but I surprise I absolutely loved. Great read!
Totally my favorite author This was my type of novel. Not a very impartial review. I like to read dark, complex characters that come from a woven past. Here begins the four best friends who have grown up together coming into adulthood The Onyx character was typical dark and brooding. The Torryn part blows me away. A great book in every single aspect!
I didn't know what to expect from this book. And now... Well, the name for sure fits this story. It was powerful, ominous and gritty. It kept me on my toes. I was so tempted to check answers of secrets further into the story. But I hold myself back. Barely. Glad that I did that. Each piece needed to fall in its place on its own time. I can't wait for next book. This series going to be catchy.
OMG I loved this crazy dark twisted amazing emotional story about Onyx and Collateral. I couldn't put this down.i would give 10 stars if I could.Gimme Paxtons story.
After reading the introductory super short novella I went with an open mind to read the story and find out more about Onyx.
The she story concept just did not work for me, the characters contradictory, at times frustrating. Torryn most of the time childish and immature. Some of the dialogues made me just cringe really!? Is she saying that???? So naive and out of reality is she? Oryx was supposed to be portrayed as badass but Torryn made him unconvincing character. They did not fit together. I could not feel the chemistry apart from sexual lust. I'm afraid the authors did heroes huge disservice, both became for me not likeable characters and I lost my interest in their fate pretty quickly. The storyline far fetched, they surrogate baby business just really poor choice for Onyx's bad illegal business. Would he really kill to get money from prospect parents?! Really bad choice of business type for an underground criminal. And Tyrren worrying about health of surrogate mother and child that would be bought by her sister just so so silly and inappropriate.
I skipped big chunk of the book because the whole story was a big disappointment. I do not intend to read the next story,if it goes along the same lines its waste of my time. It surprises me two authors (!!) could not see the weakest point of their own work, really shame.
What can I say??? The prequel just flat out sucked me in!!!!
Do trust when I state, I was not disappointed. I also enjoyed the new twist and a bit shocked. I never once thought about a book leaning this way to riches when the undertones are dark.
PowerHouse is book one in the PowerChain series. I really enjoyed this book and had a difficult time putting it down. This book moves fast and keeps you wanting to keep turning the pages. I personally would struggle to find a stopping point if I had to close it for any reason. This book is a little bit on the darker side. I would suggest reading the free prequel before hand. I read it after and it would have helped understand a few things if I would have read it before. At the time that I got the prequel on Amazon it was free. For those that are sensitive readers, this book may not be for you. When the book first starts, you get a glimpse at the violence in Onyx Blake. I was really expecting a much darker a story from the description, and while there was a few dark spots overall it wasn't that dark in my opinion. Onyx was dumped off at birth and stuck in an orphanage until he became old enough to leave. While in the orphanage he became close with 3 other boys and they made a plan of how their life was going to go after they were able to leave. And the four of them were determined to be successful, and they were that. Onyx is dealing with a client and his wife and things aren't going very smoothly and the sister barges in, in the middle of her own little crisis. Onyx sees her and is interested right from the get go, but she has no interest in him regardless of his looks. Nobody dismisses Onyx and he makes a snap decision to take the sister as collateral. Don't want to give anything away, so you have to read if you want more then that. The characters were mostly enjoyable-- there were numerous times I wished I could have smacked Onyx. He could be a real jerk, at first I didn't enjoy his character, he was just too much of an a$$, but then as he spent time around Collateral AKA Torryn, he started mellowing out, but the jerk side would resurface. Once you get beyond that, there was good chemistry between the characters. I did like how strong Torryn was, they needed that to balance out the alpha and jerk that is Onyx. I think the authors did a great job of setting the stage for the stories in the book, and can't wait to see how Paxton's story unfolds, since you get a minor sneak peak of the beginning of his story in the last chapter. Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!
