This collection of stories was penned between the author's two major published works in his Epik Fantasy series. It is here on these pages where the author worked to sharpen his craft. Like a blade to a whetstone, rising wordsmiths learn to work language to a razor's edge. William's voice strides towards autonomy between each of the acts in this novella.
"The Great Ranger" is an exercise and training in writing. It is a treat as a reader to get to see this process--to get to watch an author explore and stretch beyond personal boundaries. It is impossible for me to ignore the potential for this novella to become something more. If anything, "The Great Ranger" promises the depth of character, slight of humor, and intrigue of plot that William is capable of.
A balance of somber energy and some literally laughable situational humor, this novella is well worth a read even as a standalone title.

It is worth noting that I took so long to read this because it is only avalible in text-form. I usually do all of my for-fun reading on audio due to having to read a ton for work. I finally got a free weekend to dedicate to this one!
