Marina Carter was ready to take back her life. She deserved more in life than a loveless relationship and a cheating fiancé. Without a thought, she packed her bags and escaped far away to a private island to plan her new life. Sun, fresh air, and sandy beaches proved to be just what she needed. One thing she hadn’t plan on, was spending the day with one Gage Marks. He helped awaken a part of her that she thought was long forgotten. Her summer escape proved to be more than she could ever imagine, but her time with Gage would come to an end soon. Their steamy night together would not be enough for either Marina or Gage. Marina is excited about what the future may hold, but will her past let her go?

Plot: Marina finds herself on a tropical island after leaving her cheating fiance. She takes a chance and chats up Gage, a sexy stranger at the bar. They definitely hit it off, but what happens when her fiance comes back for her?
Commentary: Cute, steamy lunchbreak-length read. I do wish we had found out how Vin knew where she was going to be, but otherwise, I enjoyed it!
This was totally a cute short story. Caught my attention and had me hooked. Totally a good book if your looking for the cute book and the heat and passion.
What does a girl to do? When you catch your cheating fiancé having a BJob with another woman. This man who has abused her emotionally, verbally, & threatens he can do Whatever he wants... & still thinks he can marry her. Over her dead body! which could very well happen. Marina decides to take a flight to the Bahamas to enjoy a little fun & stay away from scandal once everyone knows of her engagement being broken. Her friend Claire is the only one who knows where she has gone & she tells her BFF to have some fun with a hot guy!! Marina jus wants a breather from her world crashing. Little did she know that Claire was right on the money with her having fun... She meets former seal Gabe Marks & owner of a security company. He sees Marina on the beach & is determined to get into her pants. He is a one nights stand kinda guy. Marina changes all that in one day. Not with just her sexy curvy body. Her inter beauty & honesty intrigues Gabe. She feels the chemistry between them to. However hearing what Marina has gone thru, he doesn't feel this ex is going to give up. Call it his Spidey instincts' of being a seal & having to protect, surveying & watching out for people, countries who need protection from controlling, threating, criminals. Marina is not out of the woods.
Gabe puts the data into his brain... He needs to make some calls about this ex. He needs to get this back ground ASAP on this asshole.
Unfortunately it can't be fast enough because Vincent finds his Fiancé while Gabe is making his contact on getting the back ground check. He walks in the hotel to witness Marina being dragged & beaten. Gabe is a gentlemen, treats woman with respect, desired but never forces, or is violent with a lady. It's just not done as a seal!
Thank god for Gabe coming when he did to save Marina. She literally got her knight & shinning armor at the right time. Will Gabe & Marina have a future? Especially when he has a meeting with her father with regards to hiring Gabe's team for security. Read the short hot story & find out.
I thought Summer Escape was pretty well written and Peyton Banks is a talented writer. There were minor grammar mistakes, but nothing that distracts. For 'my' tastes, I found the plot too in-depth and the sex scenes too brief. I'm sure that's fine for many, but I'm here for the smut. And the way Banks described the bedroom scenes, I just know Banks would do an incredible job expanding on the detail there. For those wondering, I would guess that there are 15 pages of plot before a two-page sex scene, and then returning to the plot. Again, just my own tastes here, but I would like 7-8 pages of storyline, 5-7 pages of sex, and then moving forward with 2-4 pages of storyline and 5-7 pages of each sex scene. Specific? Yes, but I have particular tastes!
This was a quick hook up for me and for the characters in this novella. They fall in lust at first sight and that led to a protective affinity on the part of the alpha male, as he desires to pursue a future and longer lasting relationship. The female has allowed herself to be a pawn for use by her father and her shady cheating fiancé. She ends things with the fiancé and he follows her, as she has become his cash cow! Her Alpha hookup defends and protects her and a bond and new love interest is birthed!
This was a story that I found For being so short I really enjoyed it. The characters were good and pretty believable. The storyline about a bad fiance End Turn turning into a monster like man Was this was about. An author who can write a story that's short Kind of sweet and a little bit funny Letting letting you enjoy it in a very short time is a remarkable author in my opinion. And this author does that and this book.
Marina and Gage find a little time to spend together after Marina's lifr falls right. She knew her relationship was not right. She was going to take ownership of her life when a better door ooened for her. She walkec away to clear her mind in the beauty of the islandd. There were a few unanswered questions, some missing words, and a good friend.
short and sad, this did not get interesting until the pages abot the hotel scene. the rest of the book was a complete dud. not like her other series. i think i will not be purchasing anymore single books form you they loose a lot in the writting, i will stick with the mafia books they are your best work
This novel was a whirlwind of a book and a romance, too. I loved it! Marina found herself, Gage went from one-night stands to dedication to one woman (Marina), and the sleazy antagonist got what was coming to him. Kudos to Peyton Banks for writing a great read-me-in-one-sitting novel! Encore, encore!
Oh I do enjoy a short novella. This one left me wanting more. This one could easily be continued in a longer book with more of Marina & Gage's story together and then a series around the security business. I'd love that! Overall, I'd read another Peyton Banks book. I gave 4 stars because even though it was short there was so many typo's and words missing from sentences.
Summer Escape is an escape I was in need of. It was short, to the point and refreshing. Quarantine find, it was a good choice and chance to discover new authors. I liked this story and author. Good break from series entanglements.
Read this if you’re stuck at the dentist’s and you need a 30min read that will make you chuckle it’s so ridiculous. Everything happens so fast with this one I’m surprised punctuation was even used.
This was good given the length of the story, however it left me wanting more details and more of the story. Why did Marina put up with Vin's cheating? How did he find out where she was at? What happened when they returned home?
I really enjoyed this book. It’s well written and keeps you wanting more. My only complaint is that it wasn’t long enough for my liking. Other than that it was a very good book. I will definitely be reading this again.
Summer Escape by Peyton Banks – After catching her fiancé cheating, she goes on a trip to clear her head. Lucky for her, the owner of a security company is also taking a much-needed vacation when her ex comes after her! Happy Reading!
A well written debut novella: A quick, fun and easy read for your lunch break. I'll be looking for more from Peyton in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
