A Short Story Collection Based On The Stellar Works Of Budding Writers In India
A story you wish was NEVER narrated to an eight-year-old. Old letters of a dead father, what secrets could they hold for a long lost daughter? A chilly December morning and a lone gravestone - changed the day and someone’s life. A seemingly ‘ideal marriage’ in an old city smelling of love. An aging alcoholic superstar finding a magical cure for his incurable baldness. From middle-class Government quarter to a posh Neeti Bagh bungalow, was there a price for this!
Life would have been very different for the characters in these stories, but for the choices they make. Read these stories to know what they did with their choice. You many see a reflection of yourself. Spine chilling drama and suspense, quirky, funny and awkward moments, poetic love of hopeless romantics and a lot more is packed in the pages of this collection.
Short stories are always light to read. When you are not in a mood of reading something intense, you can pick up a short story and finish it up in a few minutes. For those who are excessively into reading, short stories work as fillers. You can pick them up in between the serious novels to relax your mind. I got this book as a review copy by the WritersMelon and here is my review of it.
The book began with a story of a mother telling her boy about his father who died years ago, rather, was murdered. And then there are different stories of different topics. The genres vary, the writing styles vary and even the intensity of the stories varies. There are emotional stories, thriller stories, and even sad stories. So, this book contains stories for all moods.
About the stories, I did not find the titles of most of the stories very much impressive. It was the reason why I was not interested in reading most of the stories as there was no curiosity reading the title. Some stories are amazing while some are just an okay read. But there is no doubt that all the contributors did a good job. It is just that the writing style differs and the stories of every genre are not liked by everyone. The cover of the book is good because the covers of anthologies have to be abstract and not related to a particular story.
You can pick up this book if you want to read some short stories. Do not expect some amazing stories that will leave you awestruck. You can find some light stories in it.
