Signs of Love #3

Gemini Keeps Capricorn

Rate this book
Sometimes, one stubborn Capricorn is all it takes… to drive Wesley Hidaka to crazy, flirtatious lengths.

Wesley loves annoying his RA, Lloyd Reynolds. He just can’t help it. Lloyd is focused, decisive, grounded. He has this amusing ability to follow rules.
Of course Wesley wants Lloyd to break one… or three hundred.

Sometimes, one smirking Gemini is all it takes… to have Lloyd laying down the law and marching Wesley straight back to his dorm room.

It doesn’t stop Wesley teasing again. And again. And again…
But damn. Lloyd doesn’t crack easily. He’s full of principles. He’s unshakable.
He’s the perfect friend to have when Wesley needs help. Like with his truant brother and his old high school principal.

Sometimes, one little lie is all it takes… to find Wesley fake-engaged to his off-limits RA.

What can he say? It seemed like a good idea at the time…

“Gemini Keeps Capricorn” serves up a double shot of cluelessness, with a side of rock’n’roll and topped with a slow burn HEA.
It can be read as a standalone.

"When did you know I liked you?"

"When you realized I was your best friend."

This is just too adorable for words,

-Super cute,

-Sexy-the ultimate slow burn which this Author does so well,

-Great banter,

-Fantastic supporting characters.

Lloyd is Wesley's Resident Assistant and they've been kind of skirting around each other ever since they met.The attraction between them has been bubbling away right from the start but they both seem determined to put obstacles in the way of anything happening between them.....

Lloyd takes his role very seriously,he wants to do things by the book and that doesn't involve starting something with someone under his charge and all the backlash that might cause.

Wesley likes to tease and flirt with Lloyd but, after all,it's written in the stars that Gemini and Capricorn aren't compatible....right?

Oh,how I loved these two together.Like I said no one does a slow burning romance better than Anyta Sunday. Her characters and story telling just have me completely engaged and sometimes(and most definitely in her books)the burning sexual chemistry is just as good to read about - it's tantamount to her writing that an abundance of sex scenes are not always necessary to make a book sexy. She does her own brand of sexy that works for me every time.

Could be read as a standalone but, don't because the previous books are just as delicious, especially Leo Loves Aries.

Highly Recommended.

I've been having weird issues with Anyta Sunday recently, and they've been bumming me out. I've been so up and down with my ratings for her stuff, and usually she is super consistent. I was even hesitant to even try Gemini Keeps Capricorn, but I loved Leo Loves Aries, so I decided to take the risk.

As I started Gemini, I got a sinking feeling. What's with the way that Anyta Sunday has been starting books lately? It was just... crazy, right from the start. It's like the first part of the book has been chopped off and we are thrown right into the madness. I had no idea what was going on, and the banter felt disorganized and nonsensical. I felt like the beginning was a hot mess, and I was really disappointed.

But then things got a LOT better.

The romance of this book is what really won me over. It's a slow-burn, though the flirting and tension is there from the start, and when the two finally realize what they've been building to, my heart just about burst. I LOVED how this book ended, and even though the writing was still slightly off, the emotions just jumped from the page, and I couldn't help but be swept up in them.

As they say, all's well that ends well, and this one ended VERY well!

This third installment of Anyta's "Signs of Love" series was all about feel-good fun and the oooooooh so slow burn.

Wesley Hidaka was a law student, with almost zero passion for the law, but a burning passion for annoying his dorm's resident assistant, which knew no bounds. If there were rules to be broken, he was the first in line with a raised hand all but screaming, "Pick me, pick me!"

Lloyd Reynolds was studying advanced mathematics, in hopes of becoming a math teacher and, eventually, a high school principal, which was a complete fit for his serious, rule-following demeanor. If there were rules about to be broken, he was the first in line with a palm raised actually screaming, "Do NOT even think about it!"

Aaaaah, yes, a match made in heaven, right?

Yet, somehow, Wesley and Lloyd helped balance one another out and they actually, against all odds, worked. Mostly.

I adored the playfulness of this story, which reminded me more of the first book in this series dynamic-wise than the second book. Wesley lived to get under Lloyd's skin, but not in a malicious way.

Lloyd was a master at not letting his affection for Wesley show, mainly due to the university's policy against RA's and residents having "hot, lovin' relations" , which would have gotten Lloyd summarily fired.

So bring on the insanely slow burn, which was right up there with my all-time favorite Anyta story, "rock".

Although the relationship progress here sped forward at a fairly glacial pace, I was never bored, as Wesley and his brother, Caleb, were both such handfuls, losing interest was never on the table here.

Aside from the burning "will they or won't they" question, most of the drama arose from Wesley's interactions with his overly-religious, homophobic mother and Caleb's tendency for high school truancy. That tension kept things lively, but were thankfully kept in check in this moderately-angsty read.

The steamy bits were kept to a pretty bare minimum, with only a few stolen kisses and one on-page sex scene, but the UST was pretty off the charts, so I didn't really feel that anything was amiss in that department.

This story is only loosely tied to the previous books, but we do get a few cameo scenes from book 1's Jamie, one of Lloyd's professors, and Theo, my two favorite series characters to date. So yes, this story can 100% be read as a standalone.

For the fun and flirtiness alone, I'd rate this one at around 4.5 stars and highly recommend it to any fans of Anyta's slow burns, which she does amazingly well.

** NOTE: Anyta also posted a video play list for the songs in the book. : )

I had such a difficult time getting into this one, and I really struggled with the first half. It kind of seemed like we were dropped straight into a relationship I didn't know anything about yet, but was expected to love already. It doesn't work like that, and it happened way too often that I was more than a little confused about what was even happening.
The thing that confused me the most was the ridiculous amount of banter, which sometimes just felt like overkill, and other times just didn't make sense to me. That said, the banter could also be charming at times, and definitely had its cute or humorous moments as well.

Lloyd and Wesley live in the same dorm room; Wesley as the resident flirt and life of the party, and Lloyd as the diligent and patient RA. They are opposites in almost every way, but they have been best friends for almost three years; basically from the moment Wesley started living there.
It is obvious that they are both wildly attracted to each other, but Lloyd refuses to act on it because it's forbidden for RAs to hook up with their residents.
Thus follows a long journey where both men are close in every way, and are basically boyfriends already, but without any of the physical intimacy.

All in all, I thought Lloyd and Wesley were both likable characters, and I especially thought Wesley was very sweet and precious, but something about the writing and/or pacing was just off, which made it a little difficult for me to fully connect to their relationship.
I also didn't love the fact that the only reason they weren't together for all this time was because Lloyd chose his job over his feelings for Wesley. I really wish he would have prioritised Wesley in that... He supported and took care of him in every other way, so it’s not like he didn’t love him enough, but still. It didn’t seem like a good enough reason for them to be apart the entire book.

This series brings me joy, alhough I’m not into astrology. But who hasn’t read their personality profile according to the Zodiac? I speak like the sceptical Virgo that I am: even if it’s not accurate, it’s fun!

Wesley has convinced himself that he, a Gemini, and Lloyd, a Capricorn and the resident assistant on his floor, aren’t compatible. Wesley believes (but does he really?) they’d have bad sex, which of course doesn’t stop him from tormenting Lloyd every chance he gets.

Wes loves to get under Lloyd’s skin. He flirts with Lloyd, borrows his condoms, and pretty much hates on all of Lloyd’s short-term boyfriends.

Lloyd fixes the running toilet on Wesley's command but tells Wes he doesn't have a pretty face.

*spoiler alert* Me thinks Lloyd doth protest too much.

Lloyd is a responsible guy. He doesn’t want to start something with a resident under his care. But he sure spends a lot of time with Wesley.

This mating dance has been going on for over two years! Can you imagine the UST?

There’s almost no angst in this story. The conflict relates to Wes’s younger brother, Caleb, losing his motivation to excel at school and Wes’s awkward interactions with his conservative, religious mother.

Like the other books in this series, Gemini Keeps Capricorn is the very definition of slowwww burn. And I mean tortoise SLOW. There’s no steam until the 90 percent mark. I was expecting this, but I still found it a tiny bit frustrating.

Even so, I really enjoyed the story. The epilogue was crazy sweet, and Anyta’s coffee quips made me laugh.

I don’t suggest skipping the other books (because they're awesome!), but this one can be read as a standalone.

This is the third book in this series, and so far I have loved every single one... this one included ;)

One thing is for sure though. Anyta is the queen of slow burn, and when I say slow...I do mean sloooooooooooooow ;)

slow-down-o.gif (320×200)

Normally I am not a real big fan of the "extreme" slow burn, but for some reason, this never bothers me as much, when reading one of Anyta's books. I still got frustrated at times though.

Anyways, this book is about Wesley and Lloyd. They have known each other for some years and have become really close friends. Where Wesley is all about the fun and games, Lloyd is all about the rules. I love a good "opposites attract" story ;)

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor opposites attract gif

These two have some great banter and chemistry going on, but Wesley is convinced that the two of them are incompatible. Want to know why ?? Because he's a Gemini and Lloyd is a Capricorn.... of course !!!

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor of course duh gif

Wesley is convinced that they would have terrible sex !!

"He's a Cap. The sex would be bad."

All this does not stop him from flirting with Lloyd though... It's pretty obvious these two want each other bad !!!

Me, My, Mine

I really enjoyed this one, but I must say, that it also fustrated me a bit. I love a good slow burn, but I would have liked a bit more steam.... I could have done with a bit more time, with them being an actual couple ;)

That said, Anyta did it again !! Highly recommended ;)

Yay! Gemini Keeps Capricorn (Signs of Love book 3) is now up for pre order.
Blogger/ IG friends—you can now sign up for ARCs and promo ops here.

SO, yeah. Wesley and Lloyd. Lloyd and Wesley. What a fun pair to write! It felt so good just letting loose and being playful.
I listened to A LOT of rock ’n’ roll classics while working on this. So if you like to get in the mood check out some of these:

Elvis Presley – Blue Suede Shoes

The Surpremes –You Can't Hurry Love

The Kinks – You Really Got Me

Elvis Presley – Hound Dog

Elvis Presley – Jailhouse Rock

Elvis Presley –A Little Less Conversation

John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John – (from Grease) You're the One That I Want

Listening to music really got me in the writing zone. There are some lindy hop dances that also were very inspiring to me, and they'll be divulged in an upcoming guest post.

Writing the first rough job was a lot of fun, but it was only half the job.
So much valuable input came in the next stages from beta-readers, sensitivity readers, developmental editing, in-line editing, proofreading and cover design.

Writing a book really is a team effort, and I want to thank everyone that helped to bring Gemini Keeps Capricorn to life.
Thank you Hubby for brainstorming with me and giving me your feedback. Thank you Teresa Crawford for working me through some plot queries while on holiday! Thank you Devil in the Details for your constructive feedback on the plot and our fun Skype session.

A big cheers to Vir who test-read version one of the story and gave me awesome feedback. It was definitely necessary to cut Subtle-Coffee! haha. I also loved finding how similar our tastes are in books and TV shows! Thanks for the encouragement (and thank your hubby for his awesome craft book recs!)
Also, go Buffy!

Another big thank you to HJS editing who worked magic on the manuscript--and that while being sick! (You're awesome, as always!) Cheers also to Labyrinth Bound for proofreading! Special thanks to Melanie Ting who sensitivity read Gemini. Wesley and I appreciate it! <3

And to Vicki for reading for stray errors, and my dear Sunne for always being there and rocking quality control. ;-)

Natasha. You are crazy talented and I love your work. I can't gush enough! Wesley is perfect. ;-)

Finally, Wesley and Lloyd.
Thank you for keeping me thoroughly entertained.
I enjoyed spending time with you!

4.5 super feel-good stars.

One of the slowest burns I've ever read, masterfully delivered by Anyta's writing. This is a sweet everyday story full of cute nonsenses, funny moments, love and friendship.

This third installment in the signs of love talked to me louder than  Scorpio hates Virgo. Much louder. It is true that  Leo loves Aries is still my fav but because, to me, Theo and Jaime's story is difficult to beat since I conceive it as the happy place of the slow burns.
But Gemini keeps Capricorn is very close to book one, battling it with some great and killer weapons:

- Friends to lovers
- Fake boyfriends
- Forbidden love or love against the rules.

The result? A winner with two adorbs as protagonists that complement their differences perfectly, melting opposite personalities as if they were mixing vivid colors, creating this way a bright and shinny common place (cheesy, I know and I'm sorry but it came from deep inside xD)

Horoscope and coffee connect the dots in this everyday story between a guy who stops in every yellow light and a man who simply doesn't see them. The playful and Mr. Right. Spontaneity vs. perfection and thoughtfulness. A man who mess with Rubik cubes to have the other setting the right color sides immediately (I loved that passage)

Wesley is so absurd in his thoughts and behavior that I couldn't avoid falling in love with him.
He doesn't get one single thing about what is happening around him. Oblivious doesn't start to describe him. Or maybe is just he is in deep denial but whatever Wesley is, he gives patient and stoic Lloyd some good and entertaining moments and some exasperating ones too. He is so clueless that even neon lights guiding him would have been a waste of light.

One of the biggest strength of this story (aside the cuteness of the whole thing) is the humor. It has a hint of the refreshing scent Whedon doted his Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And I'm meaning this precise show and not Whedon's work in general because the delicious sarcasm is melted with the absurd train of thought of Wesley and, to me (y'all know I'm a bit weird) that's part of Buffy's charming. intelligent humor impregnating the dialogues with some smart characters whose intellect doesn't affect the ridiculous of what they think or do. Totally Wesley if you ask me.

Anyta is a master of the slow burn, that's for sure but I dare to say this story is more about friendship. About bonding. About the steps they follow from the beginning when they share a comfortable camaderie to the "oh my gosh you're my best friend" epiphany.
The process is so nice to witness and loaded with tons of sweet, sexy and funny moments, that when the love revelation comes you're so ready, so in tune with Wesley and Lloyd, that you feel all as a natural and very welcome ending. But let me warn you: the neon signals are needed all the way to the HEA.

A few highlights before I go:

-Theo and Jaime are in the house ladies and gentlemen!! And it was great to see them! I loved this couple.
-The Hidaka Brothers are physically yummy and I'm superficial enough to admit the exotic looks of these two make me drool all over the place. Hot! But since I'm a deep person (yes, I am) I should note here that I loved and enjoyed their relationship like crazy. For me, one of the stronger things in this book. There is so much love in there and it was beautiful to watch.
-The last 20% of this book is so, so sweet. It's about friends, it's about dreams and it's about LOVE. Some parts of the end reminded me to an 80's movie. It has that sweet oldie scent.
-The little drama with the principal and Wesley's mother was precisely that: little and I'm so thankful for it. Sometimes you just need to relax, smile and have fun with a good book and that's precisely what this story gave me.

Highly recommend!

I couldn't help wanting to give this book another chance after re-reading book one yet again. And shockingly, I actually liked it more this time around. It didn't start out well, but then I just kept going and it got better as it went on. I really enjoyed it and it made me smile today. I was pleasantly surprised by this re-read.
New rating: 3.5 stars.

First read review:
This book felt too much alike the first book in the series. But I just didn't feel this one. The story centers around barista at Me Gusta Robusta, Wesley ‘Wes’ Hidaka, the Gemini, and his RA (Resident Assistant) Lloyd Alexander Reynolds (24), the Capricorn. They have a great friendship. One of them is completely clueless that their friendship is technically a relationship. Overall, the book was cute sure, but boring. The writing this time around didn't work for me :O Though in book one I enjoyed it quite much. So damn strange.

“Why haven’t you jumped Lloyd yet?”
“When we first met he had a boyfriend. Then when he was single again, I had a boyfriend. Then he had a boyfriend. Then I had a fling. Then he had another boyfriend. Then—”
“I get the picture. You both being single at the same time is unfamiliar territory. What other excuse do you have?”
“Our sex is destined to be bad.”
“You might have some legit reasons after all. What else?”
“He’s my RA. He’d say it’s against the rules. And . . .”
“And?”
“I haven’t caught him full-on smiling at me yet.”

Other characters:
Caleb ‘Hazelnut’ Hidaka (17), Wesley's brother. They have a good relationship. Though their mom is a bit of a homofobia/homophobic.
Suzy, one of Wesley's close friends and his co-worker at Me Gusta Robusta.
Molly ‘MacD’ MacDonald (18?), one of Wesley's close friends and roommate to Suzy. Wesley's co-worker at Me Gusta Robusta.
Cathy, Lloyd's mom. Cute woman.
Aunt Tabitha, a bitch. I feel sorry for Lloyd.
“Hundreds of fights are ahead of us, Wesley. I’ll still want you around at the end of them.”

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (New Adult) Contemporary Romance (M/M)
Series: - Series, (Can Be Read As A Standalone), Book Three.

Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Lloyd Alexander Reynolds.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Sure.

"Keep being grumpy with me. Fight with me. Tell me when I overstep or say something stupid. Do whatever you have to do. I don't want to be thrown out of your life."
"Hundreds of fights are ahead of us, Wesley. I'll still want you around at the end of them."

the way i thought Theo (Leo Loves Aries) and Percy (Scorpio Hates Virgo) were oblivious characters, but Wesley out here making them look the opposite bc it was already 70% in the book and he really thought the other mc, Lloyd, was dating some other guy when, this whole time, Lloyd was referring to him. 😭
description

no but honestly, this was the book i was most excited for, not bc of the blurb, but bc i'm a gemini so i was hoping it wouldn't disappoint...and i was correct. 😌 as oblivious as Wesley was, i loved how clingy and flirty he was. he was like an actual puppy and it was so cute to see Lloyd not being able to resist him!! the fact that they were complete opposites, i loved seeing them get into all kinds of situations, especially with Wesley's younger brother, Caleb, involved. 🤣 the scene when they first kissed was hilarious and cute at the same time. idk if it was bc he was a gemini or just his personality in general, but i thought Wesley was such a relatable character to me (minus the flirting bc i could never-) and i connected with him.

if i had to describe Wesley and Lloyd's personalities, this dialogue literally says it all:
"He shouldn't have given in to his attraction," Lloyd said as they parked outside a cafe a few blocks from Party Palace.
Wesley clambered out, mumbling, "He shouldn't have gotten caught."

also, i just had to include this scene bc i found it hilarious how Lloyd was confessing straight up in his face but, Wesley being Wesley, he still can't get the hint:
His whole body burned with sudden need to find a boulder and hide under it. "You know how much I love talking. But"—he started walking backward toward the cafe entrance—"I have to get back to the thing. That makes the coffee. Because I have to be a man. I mean, man it."
"Wesley," Lloyd said in amused exasperation. "I want you."
"The coffee machine wants me more."
"Wesley!"

i mean- he's relatable, but also?? 😭

Seriously, one of my favorite series ever! I can't believe that I'm giddy AGAIN over a book in this series, especially one that follows Sunday's typical recipe of ullllltttttrrrraaaaa sloooooooooow burrrrrrrnnnn. Where the little bit of steam happens in the last 10% of the book.

But I'm giddy, I tell you.

The UST alone is enough to keep me around. When you combine that with the banter? #ded.

Wesley Hidaka is an undergraduate who lives in a dorm. Lloyd (not the sexiest name for an MC, but I couldn't care less) is Wesley's RA on his floor.

Sunday throws us right smack in the middle of a years-long something going on between these two. Over two years of banter *cough* flirting and foreplay *cough* have transpired before we enter the scene. And I loved it!

It took me only a few chapters to realize that these two are both totally in love with each other, that neither of them realize it yet, that neither of them thinks the other feels anything, and that EVERYONE else knows (and has bets going on how much longer Wes and Lloyd will last before they get together).

"You have the ears of a dog when it comes to our RA."

I was confused by so many secondary characters, only at first, because not only are there multiple names introduced all at once, but because Wes has a nickname for everyone too. It only took a couple of chapters to orient myself.

Wes lives to torment Lloyd. In a fun way; never malicious. And Lloyd practices patience on an hourly basis with Wes around. Not only because of Wes's antics, but because he might grab him and rip his clothes off at any moment.

Wes is very concerned with how incompatible he (a Gemini) and Lloyd (a Capricorn) would be, as far as their astrological signs. Me thinks thou dost protest too much.

Wesley snorted. "Do you think we're fucking or something? We're not. How many times do I have to say it? He's a Cap. The sex would be bad."

Wes runs to Lloyd for every thought, every anecdote, every question. And Lloyd does the same, in his own way. But that just means they're close friends, right? Snort.

And Lloyd is clearly only hung up on the fact that he could lose his RA job if he starts a relationship with one of his "charges."

"How long have we known each other?"
[...]"I don't know. Two years, three months, and about seven days?"

Yeah, Wes, you don't want him at all.

The book is FUN! Every chapter felt like an adventure. It never felt too YA/NA for me. I highlighted the crap out of lines, and the banter alone had me smiling like a loon for most of the read.

Fans of the series won't be disappointed. Book 1 is still my favorite (JLM FTW!), but this just as good as Book 2, if not a little more so.

Highly recommended!

Anyta Sunday is the queen of the slooooooooow burn, and Gemini Keeps Capricorn has some smoldering UST and a clueless MC who is the last to know how he feels.

Wesley is in his last year of undergrad and has been focusing on law. He's not excited about that, though, and can barely make himself actually do the work. However, I don't think it is his studies that keep young Wesley going, anyway. That title would go to one sexy RA, by the name of Lloyd.

Lloyd runs a tight ship keeping his residents in line (and alive, no thanks to one resident who is a complete disaster in the kitchen). Keeping the lead RA, Ryan, off his back is a challenge, too, so Lloyd tries to just fly under the radar and not break any of the rules -- particularly the rule about not sleeping with a resident, no matter how much he might want him.

Rules. According to Wesley, Capricorns live for rules, but Geminis (like himself) live to break them. Their courtship is kind of a cat & mouse game where Wesley protests quite much, while still - not so secretly - bates Lloyd. Meanwhile, Lloyd tries to keep his sanity around Wesley.

Wesley is the last to know that he really and truly wants Lloyd.

I really enjoyed this quirky edition to this series! I loved the banter, the games, and both MC's never failed to make me smile. And if you're a fan of the slow burn, you will not be disappointed, in the least. These boys will torture you with their UST.

Gemini Keeps Capricorn is nothing short of entertaining and it made me happy the whole time I was reading it.

This series is a pure joy to read.

When I pick up an Anyta Sunday story, I know, unequivocally, that I’m about to be faced with the most perfectly-paced slow burn romance out there. In my mind, she’s unrivaled in this area.

Then there’s the epic banter – only a rare few authors capture this kind of magic in their character interactions. The dialogue is always fun and playful, filled with innuendo and flirtatiousness that knows no bounds. It serves to keep the reader fully engaged and eager to soak up the next words uttered.

The characters themselves are also extremely well-developed and relatable. They’re the kind of people I want to be friends with, pure and simple.

This particular installment is a new adult college themed M/M romance. The MCs, Wesley and Lloyd, have been friends for years, with Wesley being an unenthusiastic law student but passionate barista who flirts shameless with Lloyd, his college dorm RA and (yet to be acknowledged) best friend.

As usual (for this series), there is a lot of flirty banter and plenty of romantic undertones to every interaction Wes and Lloyd share. Lloyd is a rule follower, and as an RA he is forbidden to get involved with any dorm residents under his care. In contrast, Wes is cheeky, fun-loving and most certainly not a follower of rules – if anything, he enjoys actively breaking them. He also trusts in the powers of astrological compatibility, and although he secretly adores Lloyd, he believes that Gemini’s are most certainly not compatible with stubborn and straight-laced Capricorns…. Right!?

Watching Wes and Lloyd dance around each other on their slide into epic coupledom was a joy to witness. Wesley’s sassy personality shined through here, stealing the show and adding to the fun, as did the great cast of supporting characters that surrounded Wes and Lloyd during their completely oblivious mating dance.

Gemini Keeps Capricorn has been another solid win within a series that has continually been a delight to read. Considering there are plenty of star sign pairings to still play with, I hope there are many more stories to come in the Signs of Love series.

I was sent this book as an advance copy by the author. All opinions are my own.

Anyta Sunday’s contemporary romances are among the few I enjoy, and so far I’ve always enjoyed every single one of them. I especially love this series despite my complete lack of belief in horoscopes or anything of the like.

The two main characters are gay men and they’re both aware of their sexuality from the beginning of the novel, which is something that not always happens in this type of books, so it was a welcome change. The entire story is narrated from Wesley’s point of view, and even though we don’t get Lloyd’s, the two sound so different and unique that we can almost hear Lloyd’s narrating voice in our head from a certain point of the novel on. That is something that speaks for the author’s excellent characterization, which can be somewhat hard to achieve sometimes in contemporary and “slice of life” contexts.

This romance had some of my favorite tropes, including a seriously and painfully clueless guy, friends to best friends to lovers and a good old fake engagement (which is something I hadn’t seen yet if not in fanfiction). This last element isn’t too strong, which is something I loved because overusing it would make the whole story seem less realistic.

I loved both Wesley and Lloyd and the secondary characters. I really appreciated the page time given to Wesley’s problems with his family and seeing how he helped his brother, but I did feel like his mother’s homophobia and straight up ignorance was a little bit weird and just over the top. I mean, English isn’t my first language but I’ve never heard anyone referring to being gay as “doing the gaying” nor would I find it natural to put it that way (I mean language-wise). It was something that distracted me from the reading experience because it’s something I could only see as used ironically on a shitpost on twitter or tumblr and idk, I’d much rather a portrayal of homophobia and microaggressions (if those need to be present in the novel) be accurate to what happens in reality to most lgbtq+ people. The way Wesley’s mom talked sounded a lot like an infantilization of homophobic and homomisic people and I KNOW that it’s not the way the author intended it to be, but that’s just how it felt to me.

Other than this, I pretty much liked everything else. I only found it a little hard to get into it at the beginning because I was reading it during a huge reading slump and I felt like some references were lost on me and I didn’t get some inside jokes, but once I got past the first quarter of the book it ran smoothly and I enjoyed it.

Those few problems are what prevented me to give it five stars, but it’s still very much worth reading if you want a really cute and at times hilarious romance (I was reading it pretty late one night and I had a few loud laughing fits – I think my neighbors hate me by now). Also you don’t need to have read the previous two books in the series because they’re all standalones (although characters from book one make a very welcome cameo).

I really enjoyed the books in this series so far, and this is a highly enjoyable addition to it.

So why did I love this book?

1. Wesley: he is incredibly cute and so full of life! Yes, he may come across as flirty, but you know that at the bottom of his heart he is a really good guy (just the way he looks after his brother shows that!). The way he keeps ‘annoying’ Lloyd made me grin from ear to ear – their banter was written with so much panache.
What was most hilarious though is his total oblivion when it comes to figuring out his feelings and his relationship with Lloyd. Talk about having NO idea!

2. Lloyd: Good God, is that guy patient! In every single respect. From putting up with Wesley’s teasing to keeping his emotions and desires under wrap – he would certainly score full marks on every Patience Test out there!
Although we didn’t get his POV, we could see clearly how much he likes Wesley, and how he is falling deeper and deeper…

3. Which brings me straight to the UST. This book is virtually dripping with it. So good! Be warned that ‘nothing major happens’ between these two until about 90%. Be also advised that the way they get there is very well worth it and a lot of fun!

4. The ‘coffee laced’ quotes at the beginning of each chapter were really chuckle-worthy!

5. Loved all the secondary characters , too. They’re well drawn and interesting, but never take away from the MCs.

6. Looooovely cover . XD

So, if you’re needing something fluffy and cute in your Christmas stocking (or indeed at any other time of the year when you're in the mood for something that'll warm your heart), look no further!

"Hundreds of fights are ahead of us, Wesley. I'll still want you around at the end of them.

*Swoon.*

This is hands down my favorite book Anyta Sunday has ever written. She is the only author in my life who has written some of the best slow burn romances to date. And Gemini Keeps Capricorn took slow burn to a whole new level.

The chemistry, the banter, the romance, the characters were some of the best I have seen. Like my heart is a mushy mess. This book was honestly the most adorable thing ever.

Wesley snorted. "Do you think we're fucking or something? We're not. How many times do I have to say it? He's a Cap. The sex would be bad."

I loved how Wesley and Lloyd balanced each other. One is more playful, the other more serious. They just worked. And although there was never anything too steamy until the end, I was never bored.

"When did you know I liked you?"
"When you realized I was your best friend."

This can definitely be read as a standalone. The characters from the previous books are loosely tied to this story so there won't be any spoilers if you haven't read the previous books. Up until this point, Jamie & Theo always had a special place in my heart, and they always will. But this is easily the best book in the series so far.

I really do hope that Anyta keeps going with this series. I will never get bored of these characters.

Talk about a slow burn. The guys didn’t get together until 90% of the book was over. However the banter between these two characters is hilarious and the wait was well worth the wait. This series is fantastic. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Again, I won’t be bringing anything new with this review. If you like Sunday, if you don’t mind a slow burn and appreciate witty repartee, then this should satisfy.

Wesley has somewhat, née a lot, been crushing on his fellow RA for months and months, and his friendly gregarious playful nature can’t help but flirt with the steady, stern, no nonsense Lloyd, despite all the star charts saying Wesley and Lloyd could never work. However, there comes a point when friendly crosses over to something so much more and though Wesley may not know it, Lloyd is fully aware of all his charm and is just biding his time until Wesley gets a clue.

This was highly enjoyable, sweet and silly, with great dashes of swoon thrown in as Lloyd remains Wesley’s rock in his crazy hectic life, and in turn Wesley brings some mischief and fun into Lloyd’s.

Still nowhere near close to my love of Leo Loves Aries (apparently Jamie is stuck upon an indestructible pedestal without his knowledge or consent), I liked this more than it’s somber predecessor which was no real slouch to be honest but just wasn't clicking with my expectations. Regardless, I eagerly look forward to what’s in store for the next astrological alighted pair that Sunday has up her sleeve!

I'm so happy with this!! I'll admit, at first it took me a bit to truly get into it- I don't know why that was, but I wasn't 100% invested for the first 30% or so.

Luckily, things changed for the better! This was a cute and funny story, with the slowest of burns (I know that's usually Anyta's specialty but she really hit it out of the park with this one- it was sooooooo slow that I almost thought there wouldn't be enough time in the end for a satisfying wrap-up; spoiler alert: I was wrong).

I'll let you in on a tiny little secret: even though their relationship was gloriously developed, and I lived for every step of the way, I just have to say this time, it was easier for me to get invested in the characters individually, it just came faster than it was for me than it was to be on board with their relationship- even though I was always rooting for them, anyway!

Now, other than our MC's (who were glorious, by the way!), there really needs to be a mention for the secondary characters (and for the dynamics that all the cast gave place for there to be): I really enjoyed reading about Wes and Caleb, they were super adorable brothers, and their interactions were priceless. Also Caleb and MacD, ohmygod, can I have a book about them next? Please and thanks! They so deserve their own story- I loved them both so much.

I'm just so glad I got to read this early! It was the kind of fluff I'm always looking for- and it couldn't have come on a better time!

Anyta Sunday is the best! Keep 'em coming!

"Gemini Keeps Capricorn" is the latest release of author Anyta Sunday and it's a slow burn all the way! It's a sweet story about an RA and one of his residents. There is banter, there is attraction, there is a fake-relationship and the most oblivious best friend ever.

Lloyd may have played his role in that obliviousness since he just assumed things and was never straightforward until the very end. There was a hilarious missunderstanding but thankfully it wasn't the source of unnecessary drama or angst. It got resolved fairly quickly and easily.

Wesley was a flirt, an outgoing character that didn't like to follow rules and once he put his mind to something he didn't back down. He was very protective of his brother and supported him in everything. They had an amazing relationship and were very close. I didn't like that Lloyd was more flexible with the rules with Wesley than with everyone else. It didn't fit with his personality as a responsible and rule-following person. He treated Wesley differently and showed favoritism which I guess can be excused up to some point but here I thought that Wesley really took advantage of Lloyd's affection for him and his reluctance to treat him like any other resident. At least Lloyd wrote him up at some point, so that's something.

Lloyd and Wesley had known each other for years and were friends already when we met them. Wesley flirted all the time with Lloyd but nothing had ever happened between them. It's against the rules and Lloyd doesn't want to risk his job. I liked the banter between those two and it's a bit hard to imagine how they could have gone on for so long as only friends when they obviously have so much chemistry. Lloyd was the mature one of the duo, responsible and clear-thinking. He was very sweet with Wesley and he was very rarely able to say no to him. Wesley was the oblivious one here. He couldn't understand what he felt for Lloyd so he concluded that he was just his best friend and that's why he felt the way he did. He was also kind of obsessed with horoscopes, refusing to even entertain the thought of a relationship between them based on the lack of compatibility of their star signs alone.

The friendship between the two of them was easy and seemed natural. They gravitated toward one another and didn't want it any other way. A big part of the book and their relationship was coffee. It was Wesley's job, Lloyd's obsession, his friends' and brother's common ground. There are nicknames based on coffee preferences and there is coffee as a reward for doing something. I don't like coffee so I can't relate to the need to drink a cup in the morning before the day starts but I liked the funny quotes at the beginning of each chapter.

The secondary characters were a bit frustrating to me. There were very present in the story and often the plot moved depending on their lives and not the MCs'. I was glad that they all ended up happy but a lot of the time it seemed like they were stealing the spotlight. Also, what's the deal with Me Gusta Robusta? I love that name by the way, but who was the owner and why did Wesley and two of his friends that worked there along with him could come and go as they pleased, open and close the shop, host events there? Were there no other employees there? No boss? It was a bit confusing.

My favorite couple by far remain Jamie and Theo from Leo Loves Aries and I was so happy to see that they make a guest appearance here! There is also a nice surprise about what their plans for the future are like. It made me so happy to see them again and know that they are as perfect together as I remembered them to be. I think their story is due a re-read!

I took a break after the first two Signs of Love and yet this one still didn't really work for me. Also I made a new shelf for this experience : pretty boy is clueless af because wowwww. So lost.

There was some sweetness here, and again I love the boy we don't get a POV for more than the one we do get, but I also felt like Sunday just threw us in the mix for this one. Once again it vaguely connects to characters from book one but way way too loosely and I felt there was less structure or foundation for this one on the whole. I often felt I was missing passages or full chapters or was an unfinished story. The author just played a little too loosey goosey with this one for my liking.

This was so funny and I really like it!! I really like the writing of this author. Light, delightful and funny as hell 👌🏽. Lloyd and Wesley are so good together 😍. But I don’t know why Theo and Jamie are still my favorite people of this saga. Their story was perfect. A slow burning romance too but I didn’t felt it was so slow...it was just perfect. In this, it became very long in the two third of the book...I was getting tired of Wesley (sorry...I really like him tough ❤️) and I wanted to shake Lloyd. They are crazy together ❤️. PS: Gavin: you’re the best! McD’too!

I didn't like it

I liked Wesley, he was funny, I even liked grumpy Lloyd , I just felt it was missing something. I kept waiting for something to happen but nothing really did. I was bored.

I am going to blame myself for this one, the two books I've read today were utter crap so maybe its transference. Yup, that's it. Anyta Sunday doesn't do boring, what was I thinking.

first re-read : upping the rating to 4.5 stars

As Book 6 of the series is being released in June, I'm getting back to this lovely one💕
I already liked this novel the first time I read it, but having read Book 1 and 2 in a row just before, I found too many similarities in the general idea of denial to enjoy this third one to the fullest. This time I simply LOVED it and I'm giving it 5 Goodread stars because this couple is just killing me.

4.25 "playing my flute" stars

This was such an entertaining book. I love this series so far. Anyta Sunday's characters always manage to make me smile and wish them luck in life and love.

Despite being marketed as a fake fiancé story, it wasn't too trope-oriented, which gave readers the opportunity to explore the core of Wesley and Lloyd's relationship. They've known each other for years, so it was mostly a friends to lovers novel. I loved their banter - more like Lloyd suffering through Wesley's endless snarky and flirty comments, but never wanting out of it😉

Then Wesley became a contender for the most clueless man on Earth 🤦‍♀️ I think this time it was worse than with Theo and that's saying a lot! It was funny seeing everyone betting on their relationship's future for years. The side characters added a lot to the story's dynamic and made it better. I loved Caleb so much and MacD's sarcasm was on point.

The fake fiancé trope still lead us to visit more serious topics like homophobia, family's acceptance, siblings' bond and power privilege. It was nice having some of these problems addressed once again, while the characters still keeping a positive insight into life.

So I liked this book but, at the end of the day, its similitude with Book 1 hurt a bit my interest, especially as I read both in the span of 3-4 days. If I read it as a standalone, I'd probably have rated it higher.

Edit: I finally rated this novel a bit higher because it seems "clueless" is kind of a signature style for Anyta's books and I'm in for it.

If you're looking for the most clueless guy who doesn't realise he's in a relationship this is the book for you 😂

Wesley is SO oblivious!!!!

I didn't like the mum or the school teacher - honestly I'd have preferred the brother's drama to be cut out and more focus given to the relationship once Wesley realises he's in one 😂

I am loving this series so hard!
My book inspired nails for this book:
Gemini Keeps Capricorn

Is there another author who can write a slow burn so well? Where I am so engaged in the characters that I don't really notice the lack of steam until it happens.

Wesley and Lloyd have known each other for a couple of years. Lloyd is Wesley's RA in the dorm, which makes Wesley strictly off limits to the rule-abiding Lloyd. But lately, their friendship has been deepening and Lloyd is losing the battle of keeping things platonic.
They have known each other for years. Can you imagine being a friend hanging around that UST for years? Considering their chemistry, I doubt I would have been able to resist locking them in a closet together to put myself out of the misery!

Then we add in the banter and this book is on point. Wes and Lloyd are both so fun. Their interactions with each other and the people around them is fluid, seamless and natural. I had so much fun reading this book that I read it in one sitting.

The tone of this book is similar to Leo Loves Aries with a slightly less clueless MC. Wes protests his compatibility with Lloyd a bit too much, but he is trying to convince himself as much as everyone else. Except, he is the only one who seems to be falling for it.
These two genuinely like each other and do little (and big) things to show how compatible they are. They support each other even when they are just friends and it makes their romance all the more believable.

And then we are gifted with the sweetest epilogue.

I obviously recommend this book along with the whole series!
