I'm not a fan of hunting, especially the modern version of it in this country, and I don't believe in killing animals for sport. However, like it or not, the chase has been a huge part of England's country heritage, and this is what this little book celebrates. Written in the 1920's, it's full of little anecdotes, poems, quotes and stories, some taken from literature or the modern press of the day, some first hand accounts. Some are better than others, but it's a nice thing to dip in and out of. A love of the countryside does come through, and I can get behind that, even if they purpose for being out there is a bit morally corrupt! Worth dipping in and out off, especially as we're just entering those beautiful Autumn months so beloved of the fox-hunter, past and present.
