The last in the Lost Chamber trilogy is a vast improvement over the second one. Dempsey explores the myth of Noah's Ark in this book and uses it as a basis for his villain's nefarious plot. The finale of the book is very reminiscent of the Last Crusade (3rd Indiana Jones).

What I liked about the series were the treasure hunting parts, they were well researched and mostly well written. The characters were likable as well. Though Sean himself is rather bland, Joe and his wife, on the other hand, were more interesting. I should mention some inconsistent character development. When did Joe's wife become a hacker that used to work for the FBI? And if she is good enough to break into Golden Dawn's secure network, how come she doesn't know how to hide her IP address so that the bad guys won't track her?

The action scenes, which mostly consisted of car chases and shootouts, weren't that well crafted. When reading the second book, I would at times only read a few pages and then put it away. I had a much easier time with the third.

Overall I would have given this book a higher score. However, there were some problems with the writing or rather the editing that never improved. Here are the worst offenders:

(1) Using the same trope over and over again: While Sean Wyatt is described as the classic badass hero, which is further emphasized by having every book start with an assassination attempt, I never could figure out why Golden Dawn was so scared of him. There are multiple scenes in which Sean and his friends would go to a location to search for a new clue; the enemies followed them there without Sean being the wiser and surrounded them. And every single time they only got away because of some hidden escape route, while the enemies patiently waited outside. The author used this setup at least five times.

(2) Follow-up mistakes: the author seemed to be completely unable to keep track of his own story. As an example, there are two particularly aggravating mistakes between the second and the third book.
The first concerns Will. At the end of the second book, Sean watches as Will makes his escape. Later it is revealed during a conversation that Will works for Golden Dawn. At the beginning of the third book, however, Sean is surprised to discover that Will is alive and working for Golden Dawn.
The other one concerns Adriana's father. In the second book, Sean confronts Adriana about her father surprising her. But in the third book Sean knows nothing about Adriana's father.

(3) Redundancies: This is similar to the second mistake. Sometimes the author would say something and a few chapters later the reader will be told the same thing again as if the author couldn't remember whether he's mentioned this before. An example would be some inner monologue from Will. First, he explains that the Prophet has killed two members of Golden Dawn via bronze bull. A few chapters later he says that he was surprised to find out the Prophet about the bronze bull execution.

Each reader has to decide for himself how much he values a consistent plot and a credible character development. Personally mistakes as those mentioned above drive me insane, which is why the score for the third installment still is this low. Given that this trilogy was the author's first foray into writing, it remains to be seen whether I'll chance another one, hoping that he improved over time, in order for me to enjoy the treasure hunting parts.

The Last Chamber - a review by Rosemary Kenny

A fascinating and thrilling adventure in the style of several well-known book and film franchises - think Indiana Jones meets Ethan Hunt, meets Dirk Pitt and you've got quite a good idea of the slightly-flawed yet engaging hero who is Ernest Dempsey's Sean Wyatt.
Together with heroine Adriana Villa, Wyatt seeks to find the long-missing Last Chamber, created by the Knights Templar in order to hide the fabled Tree of Life, from the unrighteous who merely seek its powers for their own use.
Naturally there's an evil mastermind determined to seek and possess the incredible powers for himself, who attacks Sean, Adriana and their team at every opportunity, before admitting to his mercenaries' failures and deciding to stalk Wyatt to the sacred source of God's gift of eternal life.
Will Sean and Adriana survive to keep the sacred power-source safe for future generations? How will they overcome their many trials and the constant danger posed by their adversaries? Buy your copy of the Last Chamber (and parts one and two) and buckle up for a fantastic, thrilling, unputdownable story that you'll love!

The Last Chamber is book three in the Sean Wyatt series and the end of the Lost Chambers trilogy. When Sean, Tommy, and Adriana go to a museum to meet an expert to help with their search, a bomb goes off, leaving Tommy badly injured. Sean and Adriana get him to safety and then go to the home of the expert to protect him from the bad guys and begin their search for the Tree of Life and Noah's Ark. Meanwhile, Lindsey and his team are searching with their own expert. The story moves between the two teams searching in Armenia and Turkey, and Joe and his wife on their own mission back in Atlanta.

The writing is OK but could use a good editor. The author tends to use words repeatedly, such as lathered, the Arab, and the Spaniard. The words either don't work in their context (his voice was lathered with sarcasm) or they pull the reader from the story. Some of the action sequences are quite good, but there aren't enough of them. There is a lot of talking and exposition, sometimes with the explanations given at least twice (once for Sean's group and one for Lindsey's). Hopefully with a better editor and some seasoning, the author will shake some of these habits.

I'm not a particular fan of the ending. I didn't find that it tied in with the events in the first book nor did it fit with the biblical backdrop it was drawn from. It is also very difficult not to make comparisons with this trilogy and the Indiana Jones movies. The author seems to borrow heavily from those stories, especially Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

This series, so far, has been fairly family friendly. Overall the books aren't bad. The author does drop a few clues here that leads to the next book in the series. We'll see where it goes.

Finally, the last one in Lost Chamber's trilogy.

What an INTRIGUING and INCREDIBLE RIDE!!

The story picks up right where it ended in the second book, and this time, we are finally at the location that has been the crux of all the chambers, the myths or legends described in the first book by Wyatt's friend Joe, EGYPT.

This time I felt the pace was too fast, and the Golden Dawn was a step ahead of our archaeological hero, which was not expected because of all the events leading up to this moment it was the other way around situation. About this secret society Order of Golden Dawn , in the first two books it was emphasized in a way that they were some kind of true religious group who wanted to fulfil the life's destiny by finding the Tree of Life, but it turned out not to be and that they were only following this for monetary value which came as a great surprised to me.

One more unexpected fact unearthed in this final chapter was the link to Noah's Ark or let's just say, the reason for the existence of chambers was Noah's long-lost Ark. The author has done really good research by connecting the dots from native American Indians to the ancient Egyptians to the biblical era and to Noah's Ark.

The conclusion really came to an end, however, I am still left with some minor questions, like where was the actual TREE OF LIFE as it has been the main crux behind why the chambers existed and all the pre-ancient historical riddles that were solved to get to the final chamber, but, in the book, the author has only described one and it didn't happen to be THE TREE that it was supposed to be and a total opposite instead. This was where I felt something was missed, additionally, there have been anomalies that seemed a bit implausible.

Anyway, the overall trilogy was good, entertaining, adventurous, and full of mind-blowing historical facts mixed with cool fast-paced action.

I really wanted to give 5 but 4 stars, (-1) for minor unsatisfactory parts and some left unsolved I guess.

In the final book of the trilogy Sean Wyatt and his friends are attacked and his friend, Tommy, ends up in the hospital. The rest push on to try and find the final chamber. They believe it holds the tree of life and need to get to it before the Prophet and his gang get there. The Prophet wants to gain immortality and then kill off most of the earth's population so he can rebuild the way he wants. He believes there is too much wickedness in the world and it needs to be cleansed. He owns a pharmaceutical manufacturing business that he intends to use to help kill off people. Sean and his friends team up with a reluctant professor and then a group that is dedicated to not allowing the Ark and Tree of Life from falling into the wrong hands (or any hands). Sean's friends back in Atlanta helps discover the secret behind the pharmaceutical company and risk their lives to stop them.
The story is filled with lots of gun battles, fight scenes, some romantic tension, and lots of trying to figure out ancient clues and escape being killed by booby traps. A bit of Indiana Jones action thrown in the story. Good descriptions of scenes and characters although some of the characters backstories seem to be repeated a few times. Interesting interactions between characters such as Will's relationship with the Prophet, it is an employer/employee relationship but also mentor/mentee and almost a father/son. The Prophet is obsessed with what he believes is right and will do anything to see his plan thru including doing things he despises in others.

Mr. Dempsey has shown growth over the first three books of the Sean Wyatt series. As we read along, the writing becomes more fluid and the environment becomes more real in the minds of the readers.

In this third book, ED has finished the first trilogy of the stones/ chamber saga. It was a good read except for when things were conveniently presented without any foreshadowing. Give your heroes more vulnerability. Also, I would have liked some back story to some of the characters. The relationship between Will and Kaba with Lindsey indicated a lot of potential and then it remained unfulfilled. However, it was not a bad book if you want to pass your time.

P.S. Suppressed guns don't just give out muffled puffs when fired. I am tired of adventure, thriller writers assuming the Hollywood magic to be the truth.

Also, please show your manuscript to your friends or ask your editors to do their work because the number of grammatical and typographical errors is just enormous.

Sean Wyatt is a great guy! That's what comes over in these pages, and that carries a lot for me. I care about what happens to him and his co-adventurers. That's half of the writer's battle in winning my favor. Plus the story is fun, fast-paced, and inventive. It is also very clean of heavy sexual innuendo and profanity. Those are big pluses for me. Nevermind, that it is very far-fetched with some predictability. The twist at the end is very good, but it would've been better without the final "reveal" about immortality. That was disappointing and too way out there for my suspension of disbelief, but I appreciate that he does not undermine the Bible but adds only suppositions, which may not be plausible, but at least they aren't outrageously opposed to my Christian beliefs. Well done. I will continue the adventures with Sean Wyatt to see where Mr. Dempsey will take me next.

He Saved The Best for Last

The last Chamber by Ernest Dempsey, is the last book of The Lost Chambers Trilogy and as far as I am concerned it is the best so far. In book two, The Cleric's Vault, Dempsey, admits he was experimenting with some different writing styles, trying to find his own groove as a writer. While I enjoyed the story , I found his experimentation distracting . It clearly did not work for me. I am pleased that in The Last Chamber, he has finally settled into his own style. He has found a way to juggle several different groups of characters, in different locales, without losing the reader (and himself) in the process! I believe part of the thrill and mystery of the trilogy is that besides the main heroes,Sean Wyatt and his longtime pal Tommy Shultz, there are at least two if not three other organizations hot on the trail of the treasure of The Lost Chambers at any one time. And the reader is kept guessing who are "the Good Guys" and who are "the Villians". The book is full of exciting plot twists, across many continents, involving some very different theories about some familiar world mysteries such as the Pyramids at Giza and Easter Island. Keep it all straight and flowing without a hitch, is a gift that until I read The Lost Chambers Trilogy, I thought belong to Clive Cussler or Tom Clancy. But Ernest Dempsey has earned the right to stand with the greats with this book, The Last Chamber.
If you love history and have wondered about some of the great mysteries of the world, I know you will love The Last Chamber and the rest of the Lost Chamber Trilogy. I think there is a little bit of Indiana Jones in all of us and Ernest Dempsey touches that ,allowing us to explore the world from the comfort of our favorite reading chair! It has been said that you always save the best for last and with The Last Chamber, Dempsey really did!

Series was Exciting; This was a Entertaining Ending

Ernest Dempsey wrote a really enjoyable and Exciting series. I had fun reading each book. However, the thing that I found appalling was the serious lack of good editing in each book. I came across words that were incorrect. I found the wrong words in places. And I even found a spot where a capital letter S was seemingly dropped in the middle of a sentence for no reason. Honestly, it was like no one actually proofread these books, but simply ran them through spellcheck, which missed many errors. Maybe it is pretty if me to point this out, but I feel that if an author expands his/her talents to create a book, an editor ought to employ his/her talents in proofreading that creation in a likewise fashion.

Why?

Why did I invest all of this time into this series? I keep saying these could be movies with Tom Cruise in them and... yeah that tracks. I got all of the way to the end just for the author/characters to forget the entire purpose of their expedition...

But in a book where two married characters -- and we're talking they've been married quite awhile -- don't know that one worked in cybercrime at the FBI, what can I expect? No, really. Suddenly a wife just drops she used to work at the FBI (but also leaves traces of her digital footprint to lead right back to their computer... guess this is why she doesn't work there anymore).

I just... I'm upset.
Thanks Tricia for recommending this trilogy. It was, at the very least, an entertaining ride!

Mr. Dempsey writes adventure well. Some of the plot is taken from an Indiana Jones movie but that’s okay. The reason why those plots worked is because they are fun. The most implausible part is the writer’s sense of geography. In the first book it was clear that the author had never driven the North Georgia roads he took his readers across. There is no way to get from Cartersville to Brasstown Bald in 45 minutes. The same with the drive across Turkey. Nonetheless, this is a fun story with lots of thrills, great characters and plenty of suspense. Looking forward to the next trilogy. (Sean better not mess it up with Ariana. She’s too good for him and she saves his bacon repeatedly.)

I enjoyed the first two books in this series well enough, but this one was even better. The author has a way of spinning the story, weaving history with modern day happenings to come up with a great story.

I really like Sean Wyatt. He makes a great character for these books, a kind of Indiana Jones type guy.

This author was recommended as a male Christian fiction author, but they aren't really fiction. They are clean and have some Bible and Christian talk at times....and fairly good on language. This one had a few uses of "pissed", which technically isn't a curse word, but is one I don't use and prefer not to read.

Exciting, non-stop thrills. Sean Wyatt and associate are on a race to find the last chamber in the ararat mountains but so are Lindsey and his crew of mercenaries. What he doesn't know is that it is a matter of life and death to find it before Lindsey unleashes a vaccine that will kill Billions of people and wipe out the human race. When he finds out nothing will stop him. He asks for help from his friends back home to get a sample to the CDC and they become targets also. This is an exciting don't put down thriller you don't want to miss.

Fitting end to this trilogy and a great start to the series. I don't know whether other books are part of their own series like this or not. But this was completely different to the books i have read. And finally the chamber was found by Sean, and I really don't get the idea behind benching Tommy for this final mission after all this was his mission to start with. And Mac and wife were a surprise addition and the action sequence was so enjoyable. Let's see what happens to Sean, Emily, and Tommy in the future. Onto the next one. Definitely recommended.

Well it started off well enough. The premise was interesting in the first book but by the last book the whole storyline made no sense. There were random facts and theories thrown together without any coherent background story.
As the third book in this trilogy seemed like the author had loat interest in his own plot and didn’t know how to finish.
The final reveal was so anti climactic and no follow up back ground epilogue nothing.

If you are interested in a fast paced adventure without worrying about consistency and accuracy this could be interesting but TBH nit worth the read at all.

If you live in Florida and haven’t read Last Train to Paradise, you have no idea how difficult or easy it was to tame this wet, humid, abundantly beautiful peninsula at the turn of the 20th century when Miami was only an outpost on the southern tip of the state and known as Fort Dallas. Henry Flagler was the innovator who brought life to the state. After reading this book, I’m proud to live in a county that commemorates his name.

I love these books. They are like a cross between Indiana Jones and Ancient Aliens. (you know the AA format - the start off with facts, be mostly reasonable, then speculative, then once they hook you, totally jump the shark format-but since these books are fiction, that's ok)

This was written in 2013, but the virus the pharm company came up with had me thinking COVID. Since I enjoy a good conspiracy theory, I'm now wondering who was it that read this book and made the virus come true?

Book was a non-stop adventure. The characters are all well developed and easy to associate with their passion.

I definitely would recommend this book to anyone. Each character is very relatable and understandable why they are so motivated. I gave the book 5 stars because it is totally entertaining and the storyline is easily believed as the story line in our life of Covid unfolds.

Dempsey delivers!

The characters are lovable and the action is heavy. The suspense and mystery are over-the-top! Just what I'm looking for in a good action adventure thriller! Ernest Dempsey always delivers. I learn something new about history with each book. Or I should say about the mysteries of the world!

Good ending but too slow getting there.

I really liked the pace and story line of the first book. The second book slower down but was still a page turner. This one seemed to take forever to get there.

It did, but to me seemed more of a sigh of relief. It was a good ending, but....

Are there any mercenaries left

This series is enjoyable, the writing is getting better and better and the blend of breakneck speed of action, the race to save the unsuspecting world from a madman and the myth surrounding the Ark makes for a great read. I admit it - I'm hooked! Looking forward to the next one.

Loving this series!

I’m really enjoying this series so far! Archaeology is one of my favorite subjects and these books have done a great job of mixing action, suspense, mystery and archaeology all into one. I love the main character and am looking forward to reading the rest in this series!

Love it! 'The Last Chamber' gave an insight to Sean and Adriana's beginning relationship. The locations and information of history combined with the story is always exciting and a learning experience. The series was very interesting with lots of interesting information some of which is true and some fiction but fits like a good true story.

I really enjoyed this book and its another great adventure with Sean Wyatt. Really the only complaint I have about the book is that sometimes in this book the characters will suddenly have a new skill that has never been mentioned before that is perfect for the difficult situation they face. Other than that this book is great and exactly what I'm looking for in an adventure story.

An archaeological / religious adventure.

An interesting take on Noah's Ark and the tree of life. This book flowed more easily from one subject/ adventure to another, unlike the previous book. I look forward to reading more from Ernest especially what happens with Sean's future plans.

Great read! Again you could've ripped the story from the pages of this he news. Archeology, greedy oligarchs who will stop at nothing to get what the want. Sean Wyatt is like a tougher version of This Indiana Jones. The series is a must read...

Another good Book.

He writes with such a good eye for detail. Every one of his characters is well described and the dialogue really good. Will definitely read more of this Authors books.
