Paisley checked this out for a school biography assignment and I was curious about it. It was such an enjoyable read. Walt was not just amazingly creative, he was amazingly resilient and hard working. It was great!

Well, without him there would be no Micky Mouse. I liked this book a lot, being able to see how he came up with the ideas and the stages of his work is very interesting

Walt Disney: Drawn from Imagination by Bill Scollon, 133 pages. Disney Press, 2014. $8. Content: Language: G; Mature Content: G; Violence: G.

BUYING ADVISORY: EL, MS – OPTIONAL

AUDIENCE APPEAL: LOW

This book tells the story of Walt Disney from his childhood through to his death. The book concentrates mostly on Walt’s artistic skills and his business adventures and doesn’t give a lot of personal stories. Walt’s brother Roy helped Walt accomplish his dreams, even when it seemed crazy-such as making an amusement park. Walt’s attention to detail and passion for movies started one of the most loved production companies in the world.

I wanted to love this book, but I was disappointed that there wasn’t more about Walt’s personal life. It was interesting to read about his successes as an artist and I loved that his brother Roy was such a huge support, but I felt like this was just a basic timeline of the Disney business filled in with little summaries. I’m not sure this book could hold young readers attention.

I am a huge Disney fan. So, reading this was fun. I know most of the things that was written in this book. But it was fun to read it still, to refresh my memory. 4 stars.

This book goes through a timeline of Walt Disney's life. It goes through Walt's insipiration for his movies and his ideas to create an amusement park. His brother, Roy, was very supportive in his ideas and helped him a lot along the way. Walt grew up very poor and his family moved quite a bit. I thought this book was an interesting read, however it was not as informative as I thought it would have been. I knew most of the information already and the new information was not as informative as it could have been, such as his ideas and motives to create an amusement park. I think this would be a good book to read for someone wanting to learn about Walt Disney who does not know much about him already.

What a truly wonderful biography! This book is an inspiration to all those who read it. Today it can be hard to look at Walt Disney movies and theme parks without any other thought than success. This book shows the challenges that Walt Disney had to overcome and those who helped guide him (positively or negatively) along the way. He was presented with twenty-two Academy Awards and hundreds of other honors. Walt always had a can-do attitude even in his lowest days and has said that “ If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember that this whole thing was started by a mouse.” He has left this world with an incredible gift of perseverance and encouragement. Children of all ages are sure to benefit from Walt Disney’s life story, always “dream”.

Well, I can't say that this book had anything new to tell me, after Ive read "Walt Disney - An American Original" by Bob Thomas last year!😆
Still, this book was a summary of Walt Disney's life in a very light and delicious way, with cute illustrations on each head chapter, and small facts and curiosities throughout the whole book!
For young kids that want to learn about the man behind the mouse, or for people just starting diving into biographies, this short book is the perfect way to start!
I've read this book in one sitting, and was still fascinated by the life Walt Disney had and glad to remember some of his stories through this biography!
Walt Disney was a force of life, a creative genius who never gave up on his dreams, an inspiration for me and many others throughout the decades! His dreams are now our dreams, and his magical word still lives on, all thanks to the mouse that started it all!
A light, fast and absorbing book ,to read with a cup of hot chocolate and some Disney soundtrack on the background!💕

This book was a good one. It was pretty short, so for people who, well, don’t like short books, this may not be the highest on your list. It was an accurate representation of his life, however, and for people who complain about small font, there’s no need to worry. This book has pretty big font. The book, being a biography, did not have any unrealistic qualities.

So this biography is clearly geared towards children and young readers. However, I found the content interesting, factual, and engaging. The tone of the writing was very well done. It was written almost like a story while still having enough facts to be a well-rounded biography. Very great writing!

Walt Disney: Drawn From Imagination is the story about Walt Disney’s life. Through this book we get to see Walt’s early life and how that lead him to become ‘Walt Disney’, as well as how his childhood inspired what we know as Disney. This book gives a lot of behind the scenes information about Walt Disney that many people do not know.

I love Disney and this book allowed me to learn more about how everything started. Getting to see Disney’s upbringing and the experiences he had and how it molded and inspired him was inspirational. It was also cool to see how those experiences helped him eventually develop the park aesthetic, specifically Main Street USA. Walt’s attention to every little detail really helped in his success. This book also shows how his determination is what led him to be the person he became, there were many times where he could have given up but did not.

Some books I could pair with this one would be Who Was Walt Disney by Whitney Stewart. Through this the students could compare the information they learned in both and see what was the same and different. Another book that could be paired would be The Disney Book: A Celebration of the World of Disney. This can help bring some of the concepts in the book to life for students.

A quote from this book that I think really encapsulates Walt Disney is “If we lose the detail, we lose it all.”
