Dame is inconsistent in this book and by the end you do not think of Dame as this cool successfully mogul. He rambles, holds grudges and he even admitted himself in the book he is not humble. The book comes from audio transcriptions from conversations so many of the ideas aren’t concise and all over the place. I gave a two for the artwork and the first hundred pages that did focus on Culture Vultures.
It is interesting to hear that the same figures in Hip Hop have burned a lot of people. I stuck with it from a Rap history perspective but this does not add much outside that the Hard Knock Tour was Dame’s and not Def Jam’s 🙃

Great read.. Lots of Gems in here. If you’re not a fan of Dame Dash, you wouldn’t understand.

This book really humanized Dame Dash. He's often looked at as the bad guy. The truth he's just the most outspoken. It's a great read.

𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗩𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲s is a mildly entertaining book of conversations by Dame Dash that attempts to expose individuals that make millions of dollars by exploiting the culture of hip-hop. Some of the topics of conversation includes music, money, movies, business, family and health, along with a host of others.
I think Dame is a very smart man and has a lot to offer. He dropped some gems in this book. However, I also believe he is his own worst enemy. 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗩𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲s provides clear examples of how much he fights against everyone. He seems to think he has the answer to everything, and is unwilling to appreciate anyone else’s opinion. He’s a hot head. And that is not good for business.
I found his continuous use of the word “pause” absolutely ridiculous. The fact that he feels the need to say “pause” after every sentence that he believes could possibly be mistaken for a same-sex sexual innuendo, is juvenile and totally uncalled for. No fifty year old man need to say “pause” in the middle of every conversation...I mean who does that? Dame...that’s who🤦🏽♀️.
My favorite chapter is the one titled “Aaliyah”. I agree with everything Dame says about losing a significant other, and how it has affected his life. Unfortunately, Dame and I share that experience in common, and he captured my sentiments exactly! He also states that he will not share his story about Aaliyah until her family gives him their blessing. He has respect for them, and does not want to cause them anymore pain. I loved reading that. Thank you Dame🙏🏽.
A bunch of good black and white pictures of Dame along with his family and friends can be seen throughout the entire project.
It took me months to finish reading this book. I kept starting it and then stopping. It didn’t keep my attention. But that may have been because I had already listened to the audiobook months prior.
I enjoyed the audiobook so much more than the hard copy. Definitely way more entertaining. The musical soundtrack coupled with the conversations made for a great production.

This book is awesome. If you really pay attention to the chapters each one holds jewels that entrepreneurs can exploit. I will keep this in my reference section and took a ton of notes from this book. Easy read and definitely worth the price...

January 17, 2019books like this help me to know how to treat people, how to distance myself from people who want what they can get from you. not everyone is like that, it just puts up a wall to people who have no soul.
