Based on the caterpillar-chrysalis-butterfly metaphor of Hidden Wings, this book offers spiritual insights and wisdom from the likes of Teilhard de Chardin to help us explore what it means to be an agent of spiritual change in our own life and that of the world around us. Written as more of a handbook full of spiritual exercises than Hidden Wings, Born to Fly also includes a five-week study guide which readers may choose to study over a Lent period.
As someone who watches the catipiller/ butterfly cycle of life every year in my garden it was fantastic to read this book while watching the actually physical stages taking place right in front of my eyes. It's a loving moment to be remembered that when change comes it's not the end it could just be the beginning of something beautiful. Just as the catipiller has no understanding of its potential to become the butterfly; often we don't fully understand our own potential until we are in the moment of change. The workbook that accompanies this book is well worth working through too get the full wisdom and understanding in the pages.
