Fourteen-year-old Dylan Reynolds is anything but happy when his parents decide to move the family to Traverse City, Michigan. Suddenly friendless and angry, Dylan decides to run away from home, and has a chance encounter with a traveling hypnotist.
The hypnotist, a pompous man who calls himself Dr. Dark, is more than willing to show Dylan forgotten details about his past. But Dylan’s world is turned upside down when he recalls a memory of himself when he was a baby, seated next to another toddler who looks exactly like him.
Confronting his parents, Dylan learns that he was born an identical twin, and that his brother, Derek, drowned when they were little. Dylan is shocked by the news, but is even more shocked when Derek’s ghost suddenly begins to appear in his bedroom each night, eager to bond with the brother that had long forgotten him.
However, Derek isn’t the friendly ghost Dylan assumes him to be. As Dylan learns more about his dead twin, he quickly realizes he’s missing a crucial link in his brother’s story—a link darker than anyone can imagine...
This was a very interesting "ghost" story about a 14 year old boy who thought he was talking to the ghost of his dead twin brother. Great characters and narration. I really liked the story all the way through. I can't wait to listen to the next one!
This is the first Scare Street book I have read or listened to by this author but it will not be the last. Imagine that you found out at age 14 that you had a twin brother who died as a toddler. Then imagine that said twin begins to visit you at night. Finally, imagine that your parents adamently denied that this twin ever existed. It would seriously mess with you. This is the reality for Dylan Reynolds, who on top of all that has to deal with his family's move to Traverse City, Michigan (although living in the same town that has Cherry Republic as a major retailer does have its upside). As it turns out, however, Dylan's twin is not the benevolent spirit he first appears to be and things get really interesting from there. I enjoyed the Audible.com version of this book and the overdubbed vocals used in parts of the book added an entirely new level to my listening pleasure. It was positively haunting. There are at least two more books in this series and I plan to dive headfirst into them.
You have a family move to another city. Their 14 year old is very unhappy that he has no say in the move. He is a good student with friends who now is alone and unhappy. He isn't adjusting well to the move. One day after an argument with his Mom he takes off on his bike which is a defiant move for him. He ends up at a bookstore with a hypnotist lecturing. He is hypnotized. He runs off from bookstore. Now back home and things begin to happen. He begins to see the twin brother he saw when hypnotized. The storyline is well developed with believable and interesting characters. Now, the twin starts visiting you. You have to read this book to totally see and feel the effects of this. This book is a must read. I could not put this book down. There are so many twists. I highly recommend this book.
Dylan is moving to a new town which has the normal complications a 14 year old is expected to suffer. Unfortunately, he decides to have a small outburst of angst and winds up at a bookstore with a speaker on hypnosis. After an unwilling hypnosis, Dylan starts experiencing visits from an unexpected source.
No spoilers, but it's an awesome riveting story. I would definitely recommend this to any horror fan.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't know what to expect when I first read Ghost Mirror, but Chelsey Dagner delivers with this one. Dylan, as a character, reminds me of a time when we were all younger and saw demons in every corner. It's a book that reminded me that the shadows in my bedroom truly do hide monsters. A great read, and I enjoyed every page of it :)
Beset by a demon, Dylan is not sure how to cope, or what his parents will think. He does everything he can until he is deemed dangerous, and lashes out at a fellow student at school. As his parents start to understand, and then deny what is going on, Dylan is left struggling for answers.
What an interesting read. Kept me interested until the end.
14 year old boy moves to a different city and has a hard time adjusting. He starts seeing a look alike boy in his mirror. Book went smoothly through what the boy was going through. If you like ghosts, demons, you will like this.
Wow! I enjoyed this, can't wait to read the next book in the series. When Dylan and his parents move he finds a Hypnotist That shows him a "repressed memory", everything goes down hill from then on. I received a review copy, all of the opinions are my own as I choose to reveiw.
I enjoyed the character, though more character development would really make the story better. I stayed up late into the night to finish the book. Worth the read.
When this book first started I was not sure I was going to like it . Then it had me hooked and on the edge of my seat . This is one of those books that shocked me
I wasn’t expecting this story that began simply with a normal teenager not want to move and ended like ‘The Exorcist’. In between was a storyline filled with surprising and shocking twists. It was hard to believe what was real. All this made up a sinister goodread. For me, an entertaining read, though not my kind of book, I continued till the end.
