This series is brutal to its characters. Hell, this series is brutal to its audience. Fushi is immortal, but everyone around him - everyone he loves - most definitely not.

Geez, more heartbreak...
So it is a couple of years later and things have settled down. Fushi is becoming more and more human and everything seems like it is going into a positive direction. Just when love begins to bring two characters together the creature attacks Fushi at a party. All hell breaks loose and death...well it rears its ugly fucking head once more.
Poor Fushi being immortal lives through so much pain. Is this what life is? To show us that death is painful more for us than the people who die? It sure feels that way. With so much devasting moments we end on a more hopeful note turned into a brutal gladiator style arena fight. I love how wild this series jumps to different tones and eras.
A 4.5 out of 5.

This plot is interesting, and the character development and exploration of loss is so well done. That being said, it’s painful to read!

yoshitoki oima is a genius at creating likable characters and then boom... bye bye.
(i picked this series up after ages and now i'm just hooked so i need to keep reading. also, i've realised i really do miss reading for myself and in a way, that just makes me love reading for myself so much more now. i tried to carve out the time to read after class today and it worked. i need to do this regularly for the preservation of the little sanity i have left in me. WE'RE SO BACK BABY)

The progression of Fushi's growth doesn't always make sense to me, and I'm currently having trouble gauging where he is from an emotional standpoint. This volume ultimately went the way I expected it to go, but I was surprised by the emotional impact it had on me as I didn’t think I was all that attached to some of the newer characters.

I'm not quite sure what to do with this comic anymore.
Unlike book 3, this one was back to being good, but I'm seeing how long the series is, and I'm seeing how things just keep happening like in the end of this book here, and I'm not sure I'm interested enough to want to read on. It is interesting ish, but I don't think about it outside of reading it, so I don't think it's holding my interest anymore.
So yeah, guess only time will tell if I pick up the next book or not.

“Tú eres la única entidad especial de este mundo”.
Hace un tiempo, cuando estaba en la tienda de cómics, una de las dependientas me comentó que el tono de "To your eternity" era casi mitológico, casi bíblico, y no es un mal apunte por cómo esta historia va creciendo a partir de su premisa: una esfera que una especie de dios envía a la Tierra y que se va reencarnando en diferentes seres: un lobo, un niño, una niña... Todos ellos mueren, pero sus cuerpos siguen vivos a través del espíritu de esa alma errante creada por una divinidad. Poco a poco, la mezcla de magia e historia de crecimiento conforma un mosaico de relatos muy interesante.
En este cuarto tomo, asistimos al final del arco argumental que comenzamos en el tercer tomo, cuando la esfera Inmo y el niño enmascarado Gûgû se hacían casi hermanos, mientras a su alrededor aparecían personajes como la joven Lyn, la anciana Pioran y el abuelo licorero. Más fascinante, si cabe, es lo que se trama tras ellos, gracias al Observador, la especie de divinidad que creó a Inmo para proteger el mundo y los seres llamados los Golpeadores, que buscan acabar con él.
Es una obra magnífica, que sabe conjugar algún toque de humor y costumbrismo con el amor, la épica y el drama. Va tomando forma poco a poco y tiende una serie de misterios como hilos conductores: ¿quién es el Observador? ¿Cuál es el auténtico destino de Inmo? ¿Qué pretenden los Golpeadores?
Por supuesto, a los mandos continúa la mangaka Yoshitoki Oima con lo que eso significa. ¿Que qué significa? Un dibujo magnífico, una historia llena de magia y, sobre todo, un drama que en este cuarto volumen golpea con fuerza (por supuesto), antes de llevarnos a una nueva historia sobre esclavos y coliseos.
Para concluir, "To your eternity" es uno de los mejores mangas actuales por su dominio del drama, la fantasía y el aire mitológico que consigue sin naufragar en ningún instante.

Volvemos a los mismos problemas que el tomo anterior. No he sentido ninguna conexión emocional hacia ninguno de los personajes de la aldea, y por fin he comenzado a dilucidar el porqué. Parece que este arco es un rehash pocho del anterior. Es más tranquilo durante la primera parte, la más original, pero en la segunda repite exactamente el mismo patrón que en Ninanna, sueño del Más Allá incluido. Presenta las suficientes diferencias como para no resultar igual, pero no puedo dejar de ver varios capítulos y tener una sensación de déjà vu constante. Esto no sería un problema si esa idea del ciclo de conexión emocional-muerte sin fin se hubiera explorado más, pero la verdad es que no añade muchos elementos nuevos a lo que ya sabíamos de Inmo. Hacia el final del arco, a partir del cumpleaños, todo va cuesta abajo; Ôima comienza a abusar de conveniencias de guion y plot devices a un ritmo excesivo. A partir de ahí, bueno, empieza la prisión. Todo se acelera demasiado de repente en el último capítulo y se abre una trama que, sinceramente, no me da buena espina.
Por lo demás, tampoco es un mal tomo; tan solo uno extremadamente mediocre. El dibujo sigue funcionando sin destacar demasiado y los poderes de Inmo apenas han comenzado a explorarse. Solo espero que vuelva pronto la chicha: ni grandes cataclismos (como el que, por desgracia, parece anunciar este tomo para forzar tensión) ni Golpeadores ni distracciones, tan solo una historia sobre un ser que debe ir creando conexiones emocionales para aceptar sus pérdidas. La premisa es brillante y por eso mismo me apena que Ôima no profundice en ella.
Por lo demás, tampoco es un mal tomo; tan solo uno extremadamente mediocre. El dibujo sigue funcionando sin destacar demasiado y los poderes de Inmo apenas han comenzado a explorarse. Dieser Manga macht mich fertig! Wie oft kann er denn noch mein Herz brechen... aber die Story ist so interessant und krass, dass man nicht aufhören kann zu lesen! Ich muss mir dringend den nächsten Band zulegen! Gugu x Lynn forever! <3

Break out your tissues, you’re going to need them! A re-occurring theme in To Your Eternity is the growth you experience from pain, hardship and loss, and this volume nails that home in a very heartbreaking way. The series definitely has a very melancholy feel and you realize from the very first volume that there aren’t going to be happily ever afters, but this particular one was very emotional. I think every volume just continues to get better and better. I see some parallels to Kino’s Journey a bit, which I also loved, despite it’s dark and melancholy overtones as well. There are some lessons to learn through it though and a journey that continues to surprise and engage. Highly recommended all around!

Se me hace súper triste que Fushi sea inmortal. La historia es buenísima y te hace sentir demasiado, pero siento que se repite un poco la fórmula, espero pronto leer el siguiente
