The strategies are fine, but you can get similar ones elsewhere. I’m most appalled by chapter 2 (most recent copyright 2021) that references race relations, gang violence, violent video games, and the deterioration of the traditional family and moral decline as reasons we need cooperative learning to fix education. It sounds like “politically-gentle” conservative patriotism.
Worse yet, you don’t get the book until you sign up digitally at the workshop. You’re already signed up for the indoctrination before you can read the book and figure out what they are really about.
I had to read some chapters of this book for my ESL Pedagogy 1 class, and I liked it. It was very informative and helped me understand the concept of Cooperative Learning. However, I have seen in my practicums that CL isn’t used, which made me wonder if CL is really effectice, therefore destroying the main idea of the book…
