A Shameless Little Lie

Rate this book
I did it. I admit it.

I fell in love with Silas. My bodyguard. My protector.

My new informant.

We’re playing a cat-and-mouse game. I’m not sure whether I’m the cat or the mouse, but I can definitely tell I’m in a trap.

A trap with no way out.

I’m not who everyone thought I was. The truth is out there, finally turning the lie about me inside out. I am the shameless little lie. It’s finally been revealed, and now even more people want to kill me.

As a presidential campaign hangs in the balance, a delicate web of international relations and economic stability at risk, power becomes more important than anything else.

Even my life.

Especially my life. I’m a nothing. A no one. Just a tool, remember?

But tools can be used to open locks. Cracking open the truth and exposing it could change the balance of power. Tip the scales. Make a presidential campaign turn on a dime.

Too bad Silas doesn’t believe me when I tell the truth.

And that may make him the biggest tool of all.

A Shameless Little Lie is book two in the Shameless trilogy by USA Today bestselling author Meli Raine.

description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
What can I say about this book that I didn't already say about book one (A Shameless Little Con)? Not much to be honest. This one was just as fantastic as the first book. The writing remains phenomenal. The pace was perfect. The plot was super engaging. The twists and turns will make your head SPIN. Seriously...I don't know who to trust? Who to believe? Who is lying? Who is doing what and why? Gah...it's a mind f-ck for sure. And of course, we are left hanging with yet another whopper of a cliffhanger.

~HERO~
SILAS...I adored Silas in this one...until I didn't. He opened up more. He apologized. He stood by Jane. We seemed to be headed in a more positive direction in regards to Silas's character...until he went and ruined it all. I wanted to kick him in his a$$. That said, I am hoping that there is more at play here and things are maybe not as they appear. Because if there isn't, and he just reverted to the Silas of book one I am not sure how Jane (or me the reader) could ever forgive him.

~HEROINE~
JANE...I still very much ADORE Jane, but this poor heroine just keeps taking the hits like a well-used punching bag...oy vey. It really is relentless and after two books of her being everyone's favorite chew toy, my patience is starting to thin a little. If I was Jane at this point, I think I'd tell everyone to f-ck-off and go live on a deserted island for the rest of my life. I am really hoping that in the last book Jane gets vindication in a HUGE way. I want people groveling at her feet (cough DREW & SILAS cough). I am not sure anything less than that is going to satisfy me.

description

~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
Like in the first book most of the secondary characters are carryovers from the HARMLESS series. And I'll be honest this author is REALLY killing Drew's character for me. I loved him as the hero in the other series, but in this one, he is such a complete A$$hole. We also meet a couple new characters (Duff and Lily) both intrigued me. Especially Lily as my spidey senses say there is more to her than meets the eye. I guess we will see.

~HEAT LEVEL~
Low to Medium. There are a few sex scenes in this one and they are mildly erotic. The frequency of them felt organic to the story. The couple had good on page chemistry as well.

~ANGST LEVEL~
High. I literally spent most of this book with teary eyes (lol). I am not sure why this one felt more angsty than the last book, but it did. Most of that angst stems from practically everyone still thinking the worst of Jane. Like I said, this poor girl can't catch a break and then to have the person you opened up to the most turn their back on you and treat you like crap AGAIN. Ugh...yup, cue the waterworks. Her inner thoughts alone broke my heart through the entirety of the damn book. Aside from that, there was no OW or OM drama and we find out a bit more about their sexual backgrounds. Jane was a virgin (groan) and Silas hasn't been with anyone in three years.

~IN THE END~
It was amazing. I loved it. I can't believe I have to wait patiently again for the concluding book. I think this author is trying to kill me! Fantastic writing. Tons of feels. Twists and turn galore. An intricate and unique plot. Intriguing and well developed characters. What more can a reader ask for? Therefore yours truly is going to give this one two HUGE thumbs up.description

Boy oh boy. This is not turning out like the harmless series at all. It's almost like its a different writer. The female lead in this series is childish, selfish, stupid and lacking all common sense. She doesn't learn from anything that happens and does the same stupid thing over and over. The internal monologues the MC has are so long, it is WAY over the top. I am now playing at 1.45 speed and skipping entire sections without even missing a thing from the actual story. I really wanted to like this series like I did the first one, but frankly its a let down. There is very little story line and too much filler. I want to slap Jane silly the majority of the time. I am ONLY sticking it out since I spent a credit and I want a resolution to the story.

I honestly don’t know what I can say about this book other than if you read book one, you know you have no option other than to grab this book immediately. The second installment of this series was even better than the first. A riveting thrill ride full of emotional turmoil and a host of unanswered questions.

The danger continues to build and it’s impossible to know who to trust. My emotions were all over the place, heartache, frustration, confusion, and more. Once again, we are left desperate for more, only this time, the stakes are even higher and I have no idea what’s to come.

A Shameless Little Lie picks up where the first book, A Shameless Little Con ended. This outstanding read with a great storyline, well-developed characters, plot twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat, secrets, lies, betrayal, mystery, angst, and lots of feels, will have you turning the pages in this fantastic story.

I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

Just.... whoah.

Yeah, that is all I got for you on that one - I mean really cheese and flipping crackers that was one hell of a ride; I may or may not still be falling down for this. Seriously it was a swift kick to my gut, I am beyond conflicted.

As always Raine does not disappoint. A Shameless Little Lie is as powerful as its previous. The plot continues to grow into such a complex and depth defying multitude that my head is still spinning from the plot twists and turns. Engaging doesn't even skim the surface. Every chapter is a page turner in its own right, by the end of each scene or pivotal moment that changes the balance of the characters dynamics I am left craving more.

The pace was absolutely phenomenal, I cannot gush enough. Every moment I am left with a cluster fuck of details and not one can I connect. Seriously I cannot trust anyone - everyone is a possible threat or liar. Answers leading to more questions and more drama.

Again, just wow.

Yeah, I am being serious, that is where I am with this review.

So what did Raine give the reader this go other than more pieces to the puzzle that is the never ending catastrophic plot? Well lets see - A Shameless Little Lie continues on with our amazingly fierce heroine, Jane as the perspective. She is our only light in this tunnel feeding us nuggets as she discovers the truth. My sweet little Jane. Oh how I wish I could just snuggle her up. She is the target and everyone is lining up for practice. I mean I get it, the rumors and everyone being fed so many different stories while Jane is sitting there screaming to defend herself or sinking in the corner wishing to be invisible. There is only so much a reader can take.

Then we have the delicious, misguided yet swoon worthy Silas. Oh my lanta how I really want in his head. If that is one thing missing is to just KNOW what and why he ticks the way he does...  Silas is such an amazing character, really he is. He is the anti-climatic sympathetic hero. That is the best way to describe him. One minute he is there, and I mean he is balls to the wall all in and then at the peak he is pushed to a point where he coils away. My heart cannot take it.

Silas's push and pull really affect the romance. Silas finally believes Jane isn't guilty of anything that is happening (or is he...) really trusting her to the point they dive head first into this all consuming, just powerfully beautiful relationship. They revolve around one another and it just just breath taking. Of course their chemistry may be this steam rolling adventure but there is still this huge issue between them - Jane has a careless strike in her when it comes to taking risks to figure out the truth while Silas moves more and more towards the left side as more lies are spread.

This puts a tremendous trust issue between Silas and Jane. It was catastrophically huge at the climax of the plot while I choked on my own tears screaming: WHY? Surprisingly in the midst of the romance that is deliciously toxic to my optimistic swoonage, the secondary characters that some hits and more flight in this novel. I love the developments I am seeing with Lindsay and Jane - just interesting might I say.

Bottom line I am in love. I can't stop, won't stop gushing about this book, hell this series. I have completely devoured it! I do believe my heart is still pounding from that cliffhanger. Yep - it is definitely still pounding. I need more! So this is me... I am heading to A Shameless Little Bet and I am ready for the ride of my life.

A Shameless Little Lie is a continuation of Jane and Silas’ story and A Shameless Little Con does need to be read first.

What a rollercoaster ride this series is turning into! Picking up where the last book finished everything in Janes life seems to have been a lie...and it’s only going to get worse. This book is jam packed with mystery, betrayal, secrets and lies.

My heart broke for Jane in this instalment. Seriously the poor woman can’t seem to catch a break. With things going from bad to worse Jane has no idea what’s true or even who she can trust. Feeling completely alone, been fed lie after lie, been set up repeatedly, there’s only so much she can take before she takes things into her own hands.

With plenty of mystery, action and sexy times, I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down and definitely recommend the Shameless series. I can’t wait for the final book.

My goodness talk about your wild and pulse pounding adventures this story just keeps getting juicer with each installment and the twist just keep coming out of nowhere. This book picks up where the first left off and ends on yet another intense cliff... Riveted to the edge and excited for more.

Silas and Jane's story just grabs the reader by the heart strings and does not let go.... emotionally thrilling, action packed, edge of your seat journey filled with lies, betrayal, danger and the feeling of never knowing anyone you can truly trust.... can't wait for more.

This book is so well written and has so much going on all I can say is READ, it's a great addition to the series! Lots of twists/turns and suspense, when you think you know, you may or may not be right!! Start at the very beginning, with The Harmless series, better understanding of back stories.

A Shameless Little Lie is book two in Meli Raine’s Shameless series and continues the story of Jane Borokov and Silas Gentian.

It’s been two months since I read the first book and I did worry that I would forget some of the back story. Surprisingly, I did manage to recall much of it but I think overall I would have preferred less time between the books.

Jane’s notoriety increases to stratospheric levels but with Silas by her side, there is some comfort to be had from the bleakness that is her life.

Outside forces present plenty of twists and turns but this book was more about Jane and Silas’ developing romantic relationship. I enjoyed getting to know more about Silas and the chemistry between the characters is hot.

I felt there were some slower sections in the book; there were some highly poetic and overly philosophical passages of prose.

Again, Raine finishes the book with a brilliant cliffhanger. Bring on book three!

It's going downhill fast. There is too much internal dialogue and it's too repetitive. Some parts are just lacking reality; i. e. why would anyone walk barefoot on a floor covered with broken glass? As much as I like the story itself I can't wait for it to be over.

How could she finish the book like that! Leave me hanging!!

Just to say though that Silas believed the worst in Jane far too quickly.

Bring on book 3

This one went a bit downhill for me, after the first book in the series. I feel like Raine has some major problems with her series:
- too much repetition (not just within this series, but this whole plot of nobody knowing whom to trust is a direct copy/paste from her Harmless series)
- too much unrealistic scenes
- too many ridiculously horny people walking around, as if they're teenagers
- too many wannabe tough guys who are always on their freaking phones!

Yes, I got petty towards the end, but this really bothered me. Every second sentence of these security dudes involves them texting. Is that realistic? Probably not. There were just many little things that bugged me and together they just really brought the overall quality of the book down.

I also continue with my disappointment of how Drew has turned out. If anyone should have an open eye and ear for manipulations, it should be the guy who went through it all himself. But he is just constantly convicting Jane of crime's although he has no proof and his marriage to Lindsay had me more than worried. Basically he has taken on the job of her father by telling her where she has to go and when she has to go, giving her no freedom. And the only thing Lindsay does is whine about it to Jane and bitch at Drew.

OMG! Talk about ending a book on a cliffhanger!! There's no bigger cliffhanger than the one the author pulled here and I just hope that we don't have to wait too long for the next book to come out.

After that massive secret was revealed at the end of the first book, there's now so much more to consider going forward for everyone involved. But Jane doesn't get the time to process the big reveal because she can't even catch her breath when after every blow the next already awaits.
'”At what point do people break to the point of no return?”'

I'm still in the dark about who is behind all of this and who wants to hurt Jane, but names were mentioned and questions arose, so we'll see what will be revealed in the last book. I definitely have assumptions though.
'It's so easy to make someone believe a lie. And so hard to convince them of the truth.'

I really wish I could've given this book a full star rating but as great as it was in the beginning and how awesome it turned out to be in the end, it was a bit dragging in the middle and lots of the thoughts and words put in between conversations felt a lot like fillers, which gave the story a slow pace and had my thoughts drifting off a few times.

The Story:
Jane is still under protection due to all the death threats and attempts of hurting or killing her, but who protects her heart and sanity from the web of lies spun by her enemies and the media? When nobody believes you and everyone turns against you what life is there left to live?
'This is all nothing but a lie.
A shameless little lie.'

Thoughts:
As I mentioned above, I liked the beginning and I loved the last about 20% but the story was rather slow most of the time due to very long and drawn out scenes and thought processes. I loved the quick conversations but the ones where after every spoken word a few paragraphs of thoughts followed, those just killed my mood.

I'm furious at Silas and I wanted to slap him so badly and shake some sense into him. I really hope he'll make up for this in the next book.
Now you can see how emotionally invested I am in this series =P
'Everything in my world is upside down. And there's a monster out there no one else sees, coming for me.'

Closer to the end it got very mysterious and tense which had me break out in a sweat *HaHa*. I really can't wait to finally get to the end of this series, although it will make me sad to once again say goodbye to these characters.
'Pain can be a source of comfort when chaos is your only alternative.'

A Shameless Little Lie is a beautifully heart-stopping and wildly magnificent journey of forced self-discovery and breathtaking hope that will strangle and unleash your heart at the same time. Every reader will run the full gamut of human emotions as you are led into a dangerously complex and beautifully multi-layered romantic suspense like nothing you have ever or will ever read. This is romantic suspense at its utterly finest. This is an epic adventure that even in its second book is still winding up for more brilliant and mind-numbing twists and turns that lead up to the final jaw-dropping reveal. This is utter literary perfection!

Jane finds herself facing an impossible truth. This truth came from a lie that festered her entire life. It stole everything she ever worked for with a silent vengeance. Now, she doesn’t understand how she can go on without first figuring out who she now is. Her bodyguard Silas confesses that he wants to help her instead of interrogating her which comes as an even bigger shock to her already frazzled heart. Jane finds herself drowning and only finds her center with her only loyal friend Alice. Through the gentle yet persistent challenges that Alice presents to her, Jane is able to find what she craves – a haven and a hope. Will that be enough to protect her as she searches for the truth behind all the lies in order to reclaim a life free from scandal once and for all?

I was utterly mesmerized as I watch Jane evolve from a crying, huddling mess to a woman who stands tall and finds the courage and determination to begin taking her life back piece by piece. She is incredible as she begins to build a new life completely free of her old one. With the help of Alice and Silas, she is able to figure out who she really is when she is completely stripped bare by those who should have loved and protected her. I stand in awe of the stunning woman who is emerging from the ashes. She is becoming an unstoppable force that will find that which she desperately seeks. She will find her redemption, and she will emerge from the fire pure, refined, and untouchable.

I stand in absolute awe of the extraordinary literary talent of Meli Raine. She is a fierce and truly unstoppable force that I have come to greatly admire and appreciate! I can’t get enough of her highly creative and stunningly wild imagination and heart. She doesn’t settle. She conquers, imagines, and delights. She is pure genius, and I hope to always have the privilege of savoring and experiencing her stories!

Up All Night w/ Books Blog

Another thrilling book in the series, Meli Raine does not disappoint. Just like the first novel, A Shameless Little Lie holds just as much action and drama, if not more, than the first novel.

The big secret. The one that people and gossip blogs have speculated for years is true. Jane is the Senator’s daughter. Senator Harry Bosworth had an affair with Jane’s mother. One simple blood test was all it took for Jane’s world to come crumbling down around her. The only saving grace in this whole mess was that Silas was there to help her pick up the pieces. He has been her pillar of strength through this entire experience. He has turned into her safe space where she allows all of the negative thoughts and comments to slip right off her skin like they don’t matter.

Now she has to figure out how to handle her new father and the relationship that he wants to form with her that Jane has very little interest in creating. If she thought that before these events her life was entirely controlled by other people, then this is next level. Slowly losing all of her freedom, Jane begins to crack. This isn’t a life that she should be forced into living. The worst part of it all is that the attacks are getting more and more aggressive. Her attackers somehow are receiving more personal information, working form the inside, and finding ways to place attacks in the inner circle of her security. The places where she should feel most protected no longer exist. Suddenly more information is tipped off to the senator’s people, and Silas goes cold to Jane once again. Questioning everything she thought she knew, Jane desperately attempts to get her life back to a form of normalcy she recognizes.

The reader starts to see Jane become a more dynamic character, and Lindsey starts to become a more prominent figure in her life not only as a friend again but as a sister in some sorts. The relationship between Silas and Jane gets even more hot and steamy than before with some slight Fifty Shades like elements thrown in there that makes it that much more interesting. Overall I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and can’t wait to see how the trilogy wraps up.

OMG, I did not see that coming!

A Shameless Little Lie is book #2 in the Shameless Series by the talented Meli Raine! Meli has a way of writing the draws you in! A Shameless Little Lie is full of suspense, twists and turns, it will leave you guessing! Note this book ends in an unexpected cliffhanger and is told in Jane's POV!

Jane's entire life has been turned upside down. "Senator Harwell Bosworth, the man expected to be the next president of the United States, is my father. My entire life, I have been let to believe that my father filled himself when my mother was pregnant."

Not only that, but she has fallen quickly for Silas how was hired to protect her, and Silas feels the same. "Silas, take me home and screw me until I can't remember a single moment of what just happened back there in that meeting." "Revenge sex, angry sex, call it what you want. When I make love with you, it'll be for all the right reasons."

The chemistry between Silas and Jane is hot, "I didn't know that a man could touch me like this, so masterful and bold, yet make me feel delicate and worthy at the same time."

Things come to a halt between them when Silas thinks he has credible information that Jane is not who she says she is. Although Jane has been keeping a few secrets from Silas, she hasn't done what she's been accused of. Everyone close to her seems to be dying, and Jane is the one taking the blame, now she's left living alone next door to the man she loves.

Things take an unexpected turn when Marshall goes off the record and fills Jane in on why her father didn't marry her mother and how Monica helped him rise to where he is today. Marshall also gave Jane a warning and told her to protect herself. Lindsey also feeds Jane information to help her protect herself.

"My father was wrong. Silas isn't the inside saboteur."

I can't wait to read more of Silas and Jane's store in A Sameless Little Bet.

At the end of Book #1, we were left with the cliffhanger of discovering Jane's father which we see the results in Book #2 and Lindsay is still left wondering who her father is. Silas and Jane's relationship is starting to improve, that is until more "tips" come in and start pointing her as the person behind Silas's sister Tricia's death. When will the hits for Jane stop coming? Can't the people around her see that she is innocent, just like her mother was? Or are they wanting to make her look as guilty as her mother, so like her mother they can kill her without people wanting to care? After Tara's death in Book# 1, Jane wants more answers and when Mandy reaches out to her, she jumps at the opportunity to meet up. What will happen when Mandy reveals that Lindsay wasn't the main target all along and that five years ago Jane was supposed to be the intended target? What is so special about Jane? I have to admit, I am getting freaking annoyed with Drew and think that there is something odd about him. As he seems to be the only one who still thinks Jane is guilty and it makes you wonder if he is the mole. The book ends on a major cliffie which had me thinking maybe I am on the right track with Drew Foster. It's like did he marry Lindsay because he loved her or did he marry her so that he could have top access to the Senator and secrets? I am now eager to read the last book as OMFG Please let Silas be ok and live arghhhhhhhhhhhhh and also is Duff really Jane's secret informer?

Wow Wow Wow! Those are the first words that come to mind after reading this book! Then comes so good, amazing, I want more and when is the next book coming out! This is the second book in this series and you need to read "A Shameless Little Con" first to fully understand Silas and Jane's story. This book picks up where the first book left off...with a cliff hanger...I will warn you now that this book ends with another cliff hanger and WOW what a cliff hanger it is! Silas and Jane's story is fast moving and so exciting, it kept me reading and thinking that this really can't be happening to Jane! Everything that she thought was her life was a big LIE, nobody is who she thinks they are, the only person that has remained true to her is Alice! The pages of this book are filled with mystery, tears, shootings, romance, sadness, some sexiness, betrayal, more secrets and more lies. While reading I kept thinking was no no no this can't happen, who would do this and why? Before I knew it I was finished the book and wanting the next one " A Shameless Little Bet" so I can find out what the reason behind all of this and for what purpose! If you want a great mystery series this and her "Harmless" series would be the one's I would recommend! I want to thank Meli Raine for giving me the opportunity to read this book in advance of its release.

A Shameless Little Lie is not full of little lies. It has large, blow your mind, hate all character big lies. I finished this and in all honesty, I hated all of them except Jane. I do not know who is telling the truth and who is telling a lie. One asks how is Jane not losing her mind? Jane has turned around and become my favorite character of this entire series. She really has become the pivotal character in both the Harmless and Shameless series.

Lindsay and Drew did my head in, I am not sure what their game is? Silas went from hot to cold and again I have too many questions. Duff is a character who has more questions hanging around him as does Lily.

Meli Raine is amazing how she manipulates the secrets. As a result, there are so many moments leaving you lost and second-guessing characters motives. Interesting was finding out more about Jane’s upbringing and how the Senator played a silent part.

The pace of the story and suspense is woven perfectly for me and I had a feeling a major change in the game would occur. Did I suspect the final move, no I did not?

Silas and Jane’s sexual moments were intense, emotional and passionate. At times I felt teary for Jane as I knew her happiness would be short-lived.

As a reader, I really need Jane to find peace as I feel as exhausted.

A Shameless Little Lie is the second of three parts in the ‘Shameless series. It continues with more of Jane and Silas’ story and if you haven’t read A Shameless Little Con yet, then you need to do that first or you’ll be lost. Part two picks up where one left off with Jane reeling from the news she was delivered at the end of that book. I felt really badly for Jane in this book, what with all the mystery surrounding her. Lies and secrets still abound and this story is so fast-packed and exciting it’s all just a roller coaster that you have to hang on to and ride it out. Poor Jane, life is not her friend, and she really can’t trust anyone.
After finding out the truth about herself, Jane has to come to terms with it all. She relies heavily on her friend Alice, and Silas when he admits he wants to help her too. Jane found her strength with these two in her life, she changed from being a scared girl to a fierce woman. But, will it be enough to protect her from any more surprises that are certain to crash into her world.
As always, the suspense is well mixed with the smexy fun times too. I truly enjoyed reading this book and was sorry to reach the end, because… noooo. More waiting!!!! Book three can’t come soon enough.

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Standalone: No - ends on a cliffhanger
Part of a Series: Yes, Book 2 (of 3) in the Shameless series which takes place after the Harmless series (Which you don't need to have read (I haven't, yet) but would probably be even better if you did)
POV: Jane
Steam Level: Rather warm
4/5

Holy Bejeebers! I know that this book would end on a cliffhanger and holy moly did it end in one. It's quite the doozy and I'm glad the A Shameless Little Bet comes out soon. A Shameless Little Lie starts right after A Shameless Little Con ends (also a cliffy but not quite as much as this one). A Shameless Little Lie is a fast-paced, wild ride. No one can be trusted and everyone has something to hide. The tension amps further. Meli Raine's writing sucks you into the story. You can feel Jane's emotion from love to despair to terror to comfort. A Shameless Little Lie was quite the emotional rollercoaster. I cannot wait to see what happens in A Shameless Little Bet, and really, really need to read the Harmless series and then reread this one.

I received an advanced copy of this book for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Where to start on this one by Meli Raine. This is the second installation of the Shameless series and what a doozy it was. Yes there is a heck of a cliffhanger but Meli absolutely does not disappoint. The entire book had me riveted and unable to put it down just waiting for the next twist in this crazy, suspenseful story. Silas is truly one of my favorite Meli Raine characters but Jane is slowly becoming a favorite. There is a scene with Jane in the shower where you hear all her inner thoughts, feel her all-consuming pain both physical and emotional that absolutely captivated me. I kept re-reading this part because there seemed to be so much to grasp in this one scene. The rest of the book was just as captivating. The chemistry between Silas and Jane is amazing but watching Silas come to terms with Jane's truth is truly difficult because he has so many others whispering in his ear. Do these two even have a chance at a Happily Ever After? I'm not so sure but I have to say the ride is absolutely worth it. Bring on book 3 and more twisted roads please. I can't get enough of Meli's writing.

In this second installement in the trilogy, the search for the truth takes a sinister turn that makes the story very exciting. It was difficult to figure out exactly what was going on. The continuing story arc involving the mastermind behind a series of murders was always in the background, helping to make this a suspenseful and addictive story with many twists and turns and an ending that is rather surprising.

Jane’s biological father identity has been revealed. Her relationship with him is understandably tense. Together, Silas and Jane are perfect for each other, you really felt the trust and the connection between them. Silas breaks through every defense Jane has got. In his line of work, he’s trained to lie for tactical and strategic reasons. Yet, he keeps his promises and believes Jane is innocent. There is hope for Jane as she re-establishes a friendship with Lindsay, but she is still plagued by uncertainty and fear. The path to Jane and Silas’s happy ending is riddled with obstacles and danger.

I liked how this story developed and am looking forward to the conclusion of this trilogy.

A copy of this book was provided to me by the author.

As the Shameless series continues Meli Raine puts forth an amazing continuation of this story.

I literally could not put my kindle down once I started reading this book.
So many plot twists, one minute it's happy then the next it's dodging bullets and trying to figure out who the bad guy is. There's mystery, tears, sadness, romance, betrayal and it would seem, a lot of lies.
Poor Jane seems to always be in the middle of things she has no control over or even knows anything about. This is indeed a bigger roller coaster than I had imagined plotting best friends against each other.

I would suggest before reading any of the Shameless series you first read the Harmless series since it's the beginning and where a lot of situations mentioned originate and will help to better understand when they are mentioned.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC of this book and can't wait until the next book, A Shameless Little Bet, comes out and hopefully answers some of the questions in this pulse pounding mystery.

I don't think I have ever read a book as warped as this one. (I mean that in all the good ways. lol ) Poor Jane has already been through so much. Branded a traitor on pretty much every continent. Flooded with e-mails, messages, and videos on how the world wants to decimate her. She is being persecuted on all fronts for things she did not do. Now she finally has 3 people on her side and one hanging in the background at a distance. But when more so-called evidence starts to flood in and she finds out that her and her best friend Lindsay's lives are all lies, she does not know how to hand onto any piece of herself. When a powerful enemy makes her fear everything and everyone When the man you love turns on you and you lose the one other person who grounds you, how can you keep your sanity in an insane existence? More shocking surprises arise. Death keeps coming for her and some get caught in the crossfire. An explosive ending that makes you want to cry, scream and throw the book await you Shameless Little Lie. Pardon me but I have to go read Shameless Little Bet now to see what happens next!!!

Shameless Little Lie by Meli Raine. Shameless Little Lie is the 2nd book in the Shameless Series. If you haven’t read Shameless Little Con yet, then you need to do that first or you’ll be lost. This is a first time read for me by author Meli Raine. This series had me hooked and I loved the characters, and their stories. Shameless Little Lie had me hooked from the beginning to the very end, it flowed so effortlessly, I found myself completely mesmerized by each and every page. This book picks up where the first left off Silas and Jane's story. Jane knowing the truth about her father complicated her situation even more. Jane was a scapegoat everybody wanted a piece of and she wasn’t ready to trust anybody, even Silas was out of the equation and with a big twist in the events seems like she was right. This was not only outstandingly good, it's full of action, Passion, domamence, control, it's possessive and captivating. I honestly truly can't wait for the next book

Man can these books get anymore intense.  After finding out that her father is not who she thought he was, Jane is now trying to wrap her head around it and pick up the pieces.  Silas is slowly having a change of heart in all believing all the lies against her.  But will it be enough?   As Jane decides to give him a piece of her that no one else has ever had, more lies roll in  and strains the budding relationship.  When death comes knocking and she loses someone close to her, Jane wonders if she can take anymore.  When will the puppet master shows his face?  Will  Jane be the next to die?

This book is like an intense roller coaster ride.  Twisted as hell.  Full of lies, betrayal and suspense.  This book keeps you guessing with an ending that shocks you to the core.  The story is steady paced and the characters intense.  I am like a mad woman reading this book, as soon as it was done I was picking up the next one A Shameless Little Bet.  I can't wait to see how this all ends.

OMG this book will leave you with your mouth hanging open completely speechless. It picks up right were Shameless Little Con leaves off. Jane and Silas begin a relationship but of course there is a huge monkey wrench thrown into it. Senator/Daddy continues to try to control both Lindsey and Jane but both strain against it. Jane gets a big surprise from Alice. Reliable sources continue to give tips/leads that Jane is the mastermind behind it all. Jane gets text from her source. She tells Lindsey. Marshall gives Jane a gun in order to protect herself and Lindsey sends her a secret message leading to more to go with the gun. And then the last page comes and you are left stunned, not knowing exactly what do with what just happened, running everything you think you know through your head again, trying to make it make sense but you will remain baffled until Meli releases book 3.
