Filler stories unrelated to the actual Re:zero storyline, these range from mildly cute to boring to annoyingly stupid. The first story, which re-tells the end of the adventure in the previous volume through the eyes of one of the village children, starts out promising but ends up somewhere between perplexing and down-right insulting. The cover art is super-cute, but skip this if you want an actual plot that doesn't make you feel like you've just sacrificed most of your brain cells and probably your dignity with them.
Some might complain that this volume is not as important because it is basically "filler stories" but I would argue there is nothing wrong with seeing what happened to the characters found in this chapter or see what our main cast of misfits will experience before the action changes pace when chapter 3 begins. Of course you probably don't need to read this volume to enjoy the next chapter but I enjoy the cast of characters and have found the potential of future allies or possible enemies to be interesting. After all there is nothing wrong with character development where it doesn't interrupt the main story flow. My only regret is I found no actual Rem and Ram catgirls within the pages. It is a nice cover though. :)
My favorite part would have to be the look on Beatrice's face when Rem mentions she has been recording her time in diary format about Subaru and her sister and she is shamed she is only up to volume 6 (even though Subaru as only been there for roughly a month.)
Auto-concluding stories, but with implications for the future of the characters. They were quite nice. Rem is more of a protagonist than Emilia and has a kind of adoration for Subaru. Nice drawings.
