This book succeeded in what it set out to accomplish: give an insight into Jacopone's life as a notable Franciscan figure. My rating is not higher due to a combination of reasons: the editing of the writing itself is poor (numerous misspellings and typos), the overly-romanticised narration can feel inappropriate for a christian book, and the inclusion of poems by Jacopone throughout the text is a little distracting.
Overall, I would recommend this book to: Christians who want to further their knowledge of medieval papal history, and/or historical biography enthusiasts.
