Hector a réussit à nous faire vivre tantôt la joie et bonheur, tantôt la détresse et malheur de Rémi par ces locutions qui vont droit au coeur.

Một trong những truyện đầu tiên mình đọc. Vẫn nhớ mỗi mùa hè lại ngồi ở balcon tầng ba, đọc từng trang sách. Suốt những mùa hè cấp 2 là như vậy, mà không hiểu sao lần nào đọc lại cũng khóc. Một câu chuyện giản dị, mộc mạc nhưng lấp đầy tâm hồn thơ bé khi đó.

I really liked the book!! I remember watching the cartoon version of it when I was about 9 years old ( in the cartoon version rémi was not a boy, but a girl, and I don't know why they did that but my sister says that they probably did because a girl would bring more sympathy than a boy) , so the story of remi -boy or girl- marks a big periode of my life. the only reproach I have about the book is that the caracters seem to be monodimensional. the villain is pure evil, and the good people are pure good!!! it kind of takes off the realism that should have exicted in the story, seeing as it is not a fictional or fantasy book!! another reproach I have ( ok maybe I don't have just one reproach :D) is the description of the places rémi and his companions passed by, it's good to try to help the reader to get set in time and place with the story, but hector in my opinion was taking a bit too far!! I've never been to France so I don't know more than 90% of the places mentioned in the book, and that made me sometimes skip a lot of pages in order to get to the point where there are actual events!!
Overall the book is GREAT!! I really recommend you read it, if you feel like sobbing, crying, or need to go to your sad place, this is the book for you!!! Enjoy it!!!

I read the simplified version for B2 French language learners, and man.... I think I missed out on a lot! I did not find any of the emotional connection or awe that so many other people did who read the original! Instead everything seemed very bland, and none of the characters were that complex. However, I did enjoy the beginning with Vitalis, but I found the ending to be random and unengaging. Oh well.

TOME 1: c'est l'histoire d'un petit enfant Remy qui vivait tranquillement avec sa mère Barberin dans le village Chavanon, mais au retour du père Barberin, Remy découvre que la mère Barberin est sa nourrice et pas sa mère biologique, le père qui vient de perdre son travail suite à un accident décide de mettre le pauvre Remy dans une hospice. mais les choses sont changées et Remy était loué à Vitalis un vieux homme qui est devenu son maître.les deux voyageaient dans les villes et faisaient des présentations comédiennes avec les chiens de Vitalis et le singe "joli coeur"afin de gagner de quoi manger, à l'arrivé au Toulouse Vitalis était arrêté par la police car il n'a pas cédé aux ordres d'un policier,Remy se trouve seul sans son maître et obligé de gagner sa vie,la chance lui a souri in recontre madame Miligan et son fils Arthur, ces derniers le traitaient bien il vit avec eux ses meilleurs jours de vie,mais à la libération de Vitalis Remy devait le rejoindre et la séparation de cette dame et son fils s'imposait, les jours passèrent avant que Remy ne s'habitue à sa nouvelle vie avec son maître, la situation financière de celui ci devient critique après la mort de ses deux chiens et les événements malheureuses se succédèrent. un jour le temps était sévèrement froid, Vitalis et son maître et Capi cherchaient à s'abriter mais inutilement, ils s'adressaient enfin à la porte d'un jardinier mais Vitalis était mort de froid et Remy tombait malade des dizaines de jours avant de se rétablir, il restait avec la famille du jardinier ou il travaillait rudement, cette nouvelle famille le traitait comme un membre d'eux, et comme si la séparation était lié au pauvre garçon, celui ci se trouvait encore une fois seul après la ruine de ce jardinier. que va devenir Remy ? une existence nouvelle s'ouvrat devant lui en avant!
TOME 2 : malheureusement ma lecture au deuxième partie était pleines de ruptures, les événements principales tout court sont :
- l'accompagnement de Mattia et Remi
-l'inondation à la mine, et le sauvetage de Remi et quelques mineurs
-la rencontre avec mère Barberin et la vache que Remi et Mattia l'ont offert
-mort du père Barberin
-recherches de la famille du Remi
- Remi sans famille se trouve enfin en famille avec sa mère anglaise et son frère Arthur
A la fin j’étais heureuse du rassemblement de la famille et tous ceux qui ont connu Remi pendant sa misère et j’étais trop émue car Remi n'a pas oublié son maître Vitalis "je ne vous ai point oublié, je ne vous oublierai jamais, soyez-en sur; si dans cette existence périlleuse d'un enfant perdu je n'ai pas trébuché, je ne suis pas tombé, c'est vous que je le dois, à vos leçons,à vos exemples, o mon vieux maître!et dans toute fête votre place sera pieusement réservé:si vous ne me voyez pas, moi je vous verrai.

as long remy is in company of vitalis all is well. but soon as they enter paris and vitalis dies life goes on but the story dies as well. highly recommended when loosing a friend.

Sans Famille is a sad comedic book. It’s full of unfairness, bad luck, and people who either help or hurt him, sometimes both. There’s a cruel randomness to it all, like life, but there’s also warmth in the connections he makes. It’s the kind of story that reminds you how rough things can get, yet somehow, there’s always a reason to keep moving forward.

If Remi didn't give up, why would you?

Không gia đình là một câu chuyện xưa cũ kể về  em bé không cha mẹ, không họ hàng thân thích tên là Remi, đi theo một đoàn xiếc thú gồm có chó, khỉ, rồi cầm đầu đoàn ấy đi lưu lạc khắp nước Pháp để kiếm sống. Sau đó bị tù ở Anh, cuối cùng tìm thấy mẹ ruột và em của mình. Em bé Rêmi ấy đã lớn lên trong gian khổ, vượt qua những trận bão tuyết khắc nghiệt nhất, những con đói đến mơ màng đầu óc. Cậu bé cũng rất dũng cảm và kiên cường khi chung đụng với mọi hạng người, sống khắp mọi nơi, "nơi thì lừa đảo, nơi thì xót thương" nhưng vẫn giữ nguyên những nét đẹp sáng giá trong tâm hồn mình.

 Remi đã tự lao động, kiếm từng chút tiền để mua bánh mì, để sống qua những năm tháng cực nhọc ấy.  Khi bắt đầu là dưới quyền điều hành của một ông già từng trải và đạo đức - là người ảnh hưởng rất nhiều đến cách sống và tư duy của Remi sau này - cụ Vitali. Tuy nhiên thì về sau, cậu bé tự lập và không những lo cho mình mà còn bảo đảm việc biểu diễn và sinh sống cho cả một gánh hát rong từng khốn đốn ấy. Đã có khi em và cả đoàn lang thang mấy hôm liền không có chút gì trong bụng. Đã có khi em suýt chết vì cái rét buốt vô tình của nước Pháp năm ấy. Đã có khi em bị lụt ngầm chôn trong giếng mỏ mười mấy ngày đêm. Đã có khi em mắc oan bị giải ra trước tòa và bị ở tù.

Và cũng từng có lúc khi em may mắn được nuôi nấng đàng hoàng, no ấm. Mặc dù vậy thì ở đâu, với cương vị là ai, trong cảnh ngộ nào, em vẫn rất nghiêm túc theo nếp rèn dạy của ông già Vitali giữ phẩm chất tốt đẹp nhất khi làm người. Đó là không bán rẻ sự ngay thẳng, gan dạ, tự trọng, thương người, ham lao động, không ngửa tay xin xỏ, không dối trá, gian giảo, nhớ ơn nghĩa, luôn luôn muốn làm người có ích… của mình cho bất kỳ hoàn cảnh nào hay bất kỳ ai.

I was living with Remi over the last week. It's hard to explain how excited I was when Remi made it to London. The whole reading experience was gentle with a few occasional surges in emotion. Part of the book was included in my schooling program years ago but only till now have I finished the whole book. The story was told by a third party, which was very popular among other French novels of the same period in history. Remi is a great character, throughout his adventure, all of his good personalities were developed thorugh extreme poverty, loyalty, friendship and love. Perhaps each of us at some point in our life would find a little 'Remi' in ourselves, always resistant in hardships, thrive in creativity, live for friends and most importantly, believe strongly that there will be a happy ending waiting for us. Hector Malot has successfully given us a "positivity shot" which we all need in life.

J'ai vu les dessins animés avant avoir lu le Roman, il y avait quelques années de décalage entre la lecture et le dessin animé et je peux dire que j'étais fascinée par l'imagination de Hector Malot son style qui va droit au cœur ses mots bien choisis ses personnages plein de vie. J'ai pleuré énormément lors de la mort de Vitalis et encore plus lorsque Rimé a resté tout seul sans amis ni Vitalis.
Je n'étais jamais si touchée, si émotionnée...un vrai succès!

First read the book when I was 8 and absolutely hated the first half of the book since it was just depression. It was just page after page of sorrow for a little kid. The latter half of the story was better where things were going in favour of the protagonist.
Re-read the book now that I'm older and I have come to appreciate the first half of the story. It just made the ending that much more satisfying.

Ce roman est l'un de mes favoris, un roman qui m'a causé tant de peine et qui a fait couler mes larmes avec chaque développement, Rémi le petit qui a été oppressé et mal traité après avoir connu la joie d'avoir une maman, a été enlevé de cet atmosphère et mené pour vivre la vie des rues, et avoir le sol comme lit et le ciel pour couverture.
Je me rappelle avoir vu y'a des années le dessin animé basé sur ce roman, et j'ai eu les mêmes sentiments de détresse en lisant le livre.

This was one of the first books i 've ever read , and one of the best as well . The story is simple , but so touching , it stays with you for a long time and you thing about when you go to sleep and when you wake up . It's about another era , when life was more difficult .

This book is very emotional. I really liked it! But I wasn't to please with the ending. I read this book in French as a young girl,but I don't think I understood it. I think everyone should read it ; regardless of the age!

I've read it many times. It's the first book may mom's bought for me. It arouses my fantasy. I can't count how many times I've dreamt about Remi and his life. I see as if I were him, had adventures, strived to make a living,....

I grew up with this book it was nice to read it again. A charming tale about a boy with no family who moves from place to place, trying to find a home and who's tale is laced with tragedy, until he finally finds the life he dreamt of.
