"... you have seen better days, Thanos."
you have indeed, haven't you?

Looks like Thane got what he wanted: to see his father as miserable as he once was —powerless, without food and leading a dying life in exile. But wait, who is that?! Is the epicure, voluptuary little brother of the Mad Titan, Eros the Starfox, going to be his life-saving angel? the answer is: APPARENTLY.
Funny... the reason for the death of half of the universe is dying; but if he dies, so will the rest of the universe, following him to the doomed well of afterlife. so he needs to be saved. This is called CRISIS

"I will wipe you from this world like the accident you are, Thane."

This gives a general view of what kind of a father Thanos is. Therefore, who on the moon of Titan expects him to be fooled by the promise of a life of peace — with the Avengers! for the sake of some excitement or plot twist, we could enjoy some more of the trial part with more complex psychic mind-games. I don't imagine I'm the only one who thought the trial was short and too easy, and simple.

I have a serious complaint for the writers by the way, about Eros. The writers keep killing him and omitting him whenever they want or don't need him anymore in any issue of any series, completely wasting such high potential his character has. He, actually, deserves a few series of his own under his name but if they are not giving us that, at least treat him as he deserves in others' comics.

"ALL THIS TALK OF DEATH PLEASES HER, FOR IT IS SHE WHO HAS MANIPULATED EVENTS. IT IS SHE WHO HAS PULLED THE STRINGS OF THESE TWO GODS. IT IS DEATH HERSELF WHO HAS CAUSED ALL OF THIS TO HAPPEN FOR REASONS ONLY SHE CAN KNOW."

"Thanos is Destroyer, Thanos is King. Know him. Fear him... THANOS HAS RETURNED."

The final battle of the son and the father, two gods of terror and death confront each other in the land of lost gods. Following the epic battle in the last issue, here the witches free the bird of phoenix away, meaning, leaving Thane naked of power, only as who he is. Now Thanos, known NOT for his mercy or life-sparing, does not kill his son —but punishes him in a worse way...
The art and graphics have looked totally marvellous up to this issue and the plot was as brilliant as it could get; dismissing some minuscule faults.

P.S: kind of a spoiler, thanks heavens Eros is back I was MAD!

Starts off very strong with Thanos scraping by as a mortal. But quickly changes into a quest for Thanos to get his power back, followed by two issues of dust 'em ups and a return to the status quo. I would have liked a much longer exploration of Thanos as a mortal. I felt like a lot was left on the table to quickly reset everything back to normal.

This was such a great ending to the whole run and a solid read!

So we pick up with Thanos as he is trying to rebuild himself but there comes challenges and just seeing the broken Thanos was so awesome ad kinda lends humanity to the character in a way but then comes the others to rescue him and his plan to go to the God Quarry and meet with the Witches of infinity and how he gets his powers back is the whole story and when Thane comes to finally kill his father, who will win? Plus the mysterious nature and real power of God Quarry revealed.

One of those volumes which really ups the ante on the whole revelations and nature of Thanos because he doesn't lose, and he always finds a way back, or a way to win and even if the probability is 0 he will win ad I loved that aspect of him and those cool one-liners that the author gives him here was so awesome and like really zeroing on the nature of Thanos aka he is "Inevitable" and that automatically is a reason to read this book!

This was a solid close to a pretty damn fun series. I do know Coates is taking over but this felt like a close for Jeff's story.

So Thanos is out of luck. He's stranded on a planet and awaiting death. A couple of bums even beat the shit out of him that's hot pitiful he is. So what happens? The crew who was on a mission to kill him goes to fucking SAVE HIM. Why? Because Thanos sun has the power of the phoenix and that bitch is insane. So now Thanos must travel to the end of the universe, meet some witches, and get his power back.

Good: The whole issue of Thanos dealing with WHO he IS is fantastic. It's such a cool what if I can't help but love it. I really started to enjoy Thanos brother in here too. Gamora and big dude fucking was a fun little thing to add. Thanos has a couple of great lines as well and the final showdown is fun.

Bad: The fight was fun but it was just two issues of Dragon Ball z level of fucking each other up. Kind of gets a bit boring. Also the ending kind of starts same where it began. It felt like it could have never happened.

Overall while not the greatest series of the year it's one of the more entertaining. For 12 issues this is worth checking out and sounds like the new series is even better. Check it out! 3 out of 5.

"The God Quarry" is the second volume of the Thanos series.

While the first volume was excellent in terms of story and art, this second falls a wee bit short. The artwork, while still good, is not of the same quality of the first volume. The story? While decent it devolves into the usual splash pages of fight scenes. Is it bad? No it is not. But is a bit disappointing after the quality of the first volume.

Thus Thanos and his fight against his son, Thane was fun it wasn't anything amazing. Good enough art and a good enough story make for s three star comic.

Thanos the Mad Titan is mortal. And his son, Thane, is hell bent on killing him, and he has the Phoenix force. This volume is a quick and pretty addictive read, but nothing special.

[Read as single issues]
Thanos has been laid low, and now Thane is finally free of his father's influence. Unfortunately, the power of the Phoenix isn't without its own corruptions, and when Lady Death makes her move, Thanos's enemies must unite to revive the Mad Titan and stop his son from destroying the universe.

After the first volume of this series, I wasn't sure where we could go next. Thanos had been beaten, and that kind of seemed like it. But of course, Jeff Lemire had something else up his sleeve. By shifting the villainy towards Thane, he actually makes Thanos seem sympathetic...for a while, and his interactions with his brother are especially good. The change that Thanos goes through in these issues, and his ultimate resolution, are just quintessentially Thanos. Lemire just gets him as a character.

The concept of the God Quarry itself is a really good one, and works well as both a set piece and a plot point that helps resolve the overall story. These twelve issues together form one cohesive unit, and I'd have been happy to leave things here.

German Peralta replaces Mike Deodato for these issues, and I think I actually enjoy his work a lot more. Deodato is sometimes too dark or overly rendered, whereas Peralta's linework is a lot more solid; I do miss his super-CGI look from his earlier work, but he captures Thanos's misfortunes and his triumphs with equal skill.

If you're looking to introduce a newbie to Thanos, this volume (and the first) would serve you pretty well.

I had a lot of fun with this one. Seeing Thanos laid so low was interesting to see. The volume was light on dialogue and heavy on the action...making for a very fast read.

Nothing too deep and crazy. Just Thanos and the Phoenix beating the shit outta each other...some great artwork...space witches...spaceship sex...everything a growing boy or girl needs.

We all know who Thanos was. But who shall he be now? The answer is clear. Thanos will be what he has always been. Thanos will be what he will always be. Thanos is destroyer. Thanos is king. Know him. Fear him... Thanos has returned.

Another solid volume and further evidence Lemire is an underrated writer for his craft. I'm starting to see he is gaining traction with the Black Hammer series and it's great to see. Marvel are very lucky to have such a talented voice and he is unafraid to take Thanos Vol 2 to those darker fringes. The one-two arc is very apparent and we are left with Thanos in a comfortable position, I now discovered that there is a book three.

Why the 5?

I enjoyed the arc and the fun of the series. Thanos must team-up with the people who helped destroy him, because he is a lesser evil compared to his son Thane. Not a crazy defining plot but it is fun and Lemire is a twisty writer so Marvel were super lucky to have him. I enjoyed the artwork and strong defining characters. The book didn't need to be this great, it's not the central Marvel series, but it's a solid volume and leaves Lemire's arc complete. It appears as though a new writer has jumped on board which is fitting, Lemire's arc feels complete.

Po prvej knihe dosť veľké sklamanie. Komiks, ktorý neurazí, no ani nenadchne...

Deodato tomu strašne chýba. Od Lemirea som čakal omnoho viac, kor po prvom diely.

Well, this was fun!

Thanos has hit rock bottom. He's dying, he's powerless, everyone hates him and he's basically a space hobo. But the old mofo is not done yet!

His idiotic son Thane is now wielding the power of Dark Phoenix and went full retard on the whole universe. Nebula and her entourage feel kind of stupid since they helped Thane to defeat Thanos so guess what?! Now they have to team up with Thanos to get rid of Thane!

So there will be traveling to the edge of the universe, some deep shit conversations, some fighting, really cool (and short) "what-if" part where Thanos is a member of the Avengers and mainly Thanos being a supermassive a*hole!

Looking forward to volume 3!

(2.5)Sam Wilson pancakes mmmmmm. Nothing remarkable really, they even changed artists which bummed me out. Honestly the writing is ok but feels generic, if I had to guess I wouldn't guess Lemire that is for sure but hey its marvel. So the big showdown between Thanos and Thane, its fist fight for the ages... i guess. My favorite part is the setting of the 3 sisters in the black hole with all the burnt out god husks, was a good setting and I wish they did more with it but it was a cool highlight. There was even some romance (gasp!) lets just say Nebula gets what she wants. Overall it was ok at best.

Super cool!!

Feels like old school Cosmic Marvel. Some fun less used characters like Nebula, Eros and Tryco are part of this, and we get into Thanos’ psyche. I never loved Thane... but he’s pretty fun here. As an added bonus, this also involves the Phoenix.

I like it when cosmic marvel delves into some deep, trippy, metaphysical cosmic abstract lore, and this definitely does that. I enjoyed it.

A must for any fan of the Mad Titan.

In this volume Thanos must regain his powers and battle his son, Thane, who now possesses the power of the Phoenix. The fight is epic but a bit short. The art is still very good, and the artist had a tough act to follow in Mike Deodato in the first volume. Overall this is a good series and a must for Thanos fans.

I don't know that I'd ever give five stars to a villain-focused story like this. I just don't go for the villainous protagonist in comics, although I've seen it work (if rarely) in other media and perhaps once or twice in comics...Anyway, if you do go for that kind of story you may enjoy this even more than I did.

What's here is solid storytelling and great art. Lemire makes Thanos intriguing, and his journey through these two volumes is fun and interesting to follow. It sticks to the character we know, and yet deepens him and shows him in a different if not a new light exactly. This volume picks up where the last left off, ties up all the loose ends and gives us an epic cosmic-powered smack-down between Thanos and Thane. I like the introduction of the God Quarry as an element of the Marvel Cosmic Universe, that's pretty darned original and cool. I could see any number of solid stories growing out of the seed Lemire's planted here. If it's not quite the rift that Abnett and Lanning introduced, it is a fascinating new concept.

So cool if not exactly likeable characters; exciting story-telling; a great comic book climactic comic book smack-down, and a couple of interesting new world-building wrinkles for the MU to play at. It's a solid story worth reading, especially if you enjoy Thanos or the cosmic elements of the Marvel Universe.

It got better...kind of.

Lemire still doing his best Starlin impression. That's fine.

The God Quarry concept is interesting, but feels a bit convenient in how it was utilized.

German Peralta and Rachelle Rosenberg make some gorgeous art that is without a doubt the best part of this book.

It was a run.

Thanos is all mopey until he decides to fight Thane and they beat the hell out of each other- also Starfox, Nebula, and Tryco are there. German Peralta gets some cool art done in with the sheer scale their battle has. Thanos does Thanos things and that's it, you've probably seen this all before.

For a Thanos book, this might be like 4.5 stars, but I don't feel like I could recommend it to someone new to comics, so within the medium, it gets a solid 3.

I read Thanos Vol. 2 as single issues through Marvel Unlimited.

So originally I wasn’t certain about the idea of Thanos getting his own series. Giving a villain his own series can really go one of two ways; either it’s interesting and amazing, or it’s absolutely horrendous and ruins the popularity of that character.
I’ve got to say that this Thanos series fits firmly in the former category. I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I have, but I’m hooked. I actually bought the third volume, instead of waiting for it all to come out on Marvel Unlimited…though admittedly I partially did that to support the authors involved in it, because they’re amazing.
I will say that if you’re planning on reading the Infinity Wars plot then this might be a good read for you. I’ve been reading those issues as they come out, and I have to say I couldn’t be happier that I read this volume when I did. It informed me of a relevant piece of information at exactly the perfect time. So keep that in mind.
