Sleepwalker: A Keyhole Novel (The Keyhole Novels Book 1) by Sarah A. Kenney is a short story that will keep you wanting more. Right from the first couple pages I wanted to read this book and do nothing else. When I started reading I wanted to know what the "accident" was that had happened. There is never a moment of relaxing. I feel so bad for the main character, Ashley, who seems to go from one bad event in her life to another. It was so well written that I had no trouble envisioning everything that was happening.
I think the ending was one of the best that I've ever read. Just when you think it's over....surprise! And the surprises just keep coming. I actually finished the book and sat there saying whoa, why, how and mostly what?
I feel as though I should write more for this review, but at the same time if I do I might give away the story. Just trust me. If you love short stories, thriller and horror books, this is a definite read.

This book is written in a first person's view named Ashley who is running away from Michigan to Chicago with her high school boyfriend, Cody. After four years in Chicago, she received a phone call from her brother, Aaron who told her that their aunt May has passed away and has willed the farmhouse where both of them grew up together, to Ashley.

Ashley has no other options but to leave for Michigan, the place she once ran away from because she has no money and no job in Chicago. She didn't realize that returning there will revive her past that will haunt her. It's like things in the past demanding for the settlements to be made.

This book is a must read if you are planning to have some spooky read haul. I have to point out that this book is a psychological thriller which means there are murder and rape involved in this book. They are still considered as mild to me but my opinion may differ to you. If you want to get scared and experience sleeping with your eyes open, then grab this book! To those who can't take reading any levels of violence, then you better skip this book. Don't say I didn't warn ya.

This book was given to me by the author for my honest review.

So the bones of this are interesting. I think with a good editor and publisher it could be great horror novel. There were a LOT of plot gaps and I found it really confusing. Lots of repetitive words sentences that sort of drove me bonkers. But to be fair, short stories are really difficult to write and flesh out given that you're not writing 400 pages worth of 'story'.

So two stars because I think this definitely has potential.
