The time has come to defeat Shadow, the evil fairy pony, once and for all, and Zoe returns to Unicorn Island to help. But her best friend, Astra, the fairy unicorn, is in terrible danger, and only Zoe can save her... A thrilling addition to Young Reading Series Three, for newly fluent readers who are ready for longer stories.

Finally, the last one in this series! No more of these unicorns for a while, thank goodness! Kiddo loved these, and of course she loved this one to. I was just glad this was the last one in the series. And predictable, it followed the same concept as the others... sort of... In this one, Astra Zoe's good friend joined the dark side! I will admit, that even surprised me a little. Hence the extra star here. So a bit cred for that. After that though, it followed the same predictablity as the rest of the series.
Only thing I was bothered with this series when reading it aloud for my kid was that during this entire time, you found out NOTHING about Zoe's life in the real world! Only how she got to the magic island with the fairy unicorns... NOTHING else!!!
At least with Narnia you found out a bit about the kids life in the real world... *grump*
Fun and inviting to read, this really is ideal for newly independent readers. It felt like it might be the final in the series (it's the sixth) but if there are more I will happily read them. A nice touch about these books are how the colour of the illustrations match the colour of the cover, so in this case, black and white with splashes of orangey-yellow. Previous books were purple, sky blue, pink, green and ice blue. The colours match the titles too - yellow for Star Spell, green for Enchanted River etc. It's very pretty.
This one the plot gets better and is not as predictable as the first few books. Great beginner chapter books to read to your child or for them to read to themselves. I'v read the whole series aloud to my daughter and now she is re-reading them to herself.
My daughter and I love reading Zanna Davidson's Fairy Unicorns series! The stories are action-packed with a great formula for young girls: unicorns and magic, a secret world that a little girl can enter, an evil pony to overcome. There are positive, useful themes, revolving around making friends and being brave and being true to yourself to overcome negative forces. The illustrations are beautiful and the book format is gorgeous: hardcover with a ribbon bookmark. I taught my daughter how to open the book using the ribbon bookmark and she was delighted to learn this trick. Great quality reading for six-year-olds. We are reading the Fairy Ponies series next!
In the 6th book of this series the King promises to defeat shadow once and for all.But Zoe realises Astra is acting a bit strangely and gets told that she has been enchanted by shadow from their last adventure when she gave the spellin anger & only Zoe can save her. When Zoe saves her they work together on a spell & they go a reverse spell on shadow when he says a spell to the king about loosing powers which instead turn to him .And finally happy away from shadows evil.👿

Overall, it was a solid ending to a well-written series. My daughter loved every one of these books. I felt like they were a bit repetitive, but for this age level, they had a nice amount of adventure, magic, and whimsy. I would recommend this series to any elementary aged girl who likes unicorns and/or fairies.
I read this with my daughter. She loved this series. Recommended for “girls” aged from 6-9 years. My son listened from the next room and enjoyed it too. It’s a perfect book as an introduction into chapter books, with just a few words that your child might need help with.
This is the end to the Fairy unicorns series and now my daughter wants to start them all over again on her own giving it a solid 4 star rating. They are all just a little too similar/overly repetitive in its vocabulary for me and I would like to give it a 2 star rating.
It is a very magical story and it has a very happy ending. Mostly everybody is very kind. Zoe is a human and everyone else is a unicorn. I enjoyed reading this book and I want to read the other books of Fairy Unicorns too.
Probably the most interesting of the lot (at least from the perspective of themes) but the resolutions are still quite absurdly effortless. … Oh gosh, I fear I’m starting to care. 😂🤦🏻♂️
