My first job with the Cerberus MC was to grab a girl from a seedy bar. Easy money, right?
The moment I realized the blonde I was hunting wasn’t around, I ended up captivated by a redhead dancing on the stage. With her striking features and sinful body, I knew she was trouble, but that didn’t stop me from making her mine that night.
When I learned that she WAS the job, everything became clouded.
I was only looking for a one night stand, but when the dust settled and she ran, my only desire was to chase her.
Should I risk my job, and quite possibly my life, in order to have her? Would she even stay if I caught her?
Marie James is a mother of two boys and wife of 17 years. She's spent most of her life lifetime living in central Texas, with only short stays in South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida. Her passions include reading everything under the sun and sewing, although she doesn't get to sew much these days!.
Writing has always been a passion and she's enjoying every step of the journey!
Hound, as his first job right before becoming a Cerberus MC member after getting out of the military, hunts down Gigi, Kincaid's (the Cerberus pres) wayward daughter. Kincaid's book is the first one in the original Cerberus series if you want to start at the beginning of the whole story, but it's probably also okay to just read this as a stand alone, though you might miss some nuances because all of the older Cerberus MC guys have already had their books.
Back to the story...so, how does Hound get his name (maybe he's a hound dog? maybe he's good at tracking? maybe both?). He's an older guy who is just getting out the military (he knew Bax, Gigi's uncle, from overseas), and Gigi is an old 21 or so. They are full of smexy talk and bed Olympics, before they get back to the Cerberus club and after.
So, sexy story. The MC stuff might go over your head unless you've read previous books and know that they're a club that specializes in rescuing women all over the world. But, then again, if you just want to read this for the sexy fun, it's probably okay. These books are a very quick read, but I enjoyed it. It's a 3.5 for me, but I round up, so it's a goodreads 4. I do recommend starting at the beginning with Kincaid.
It's been a good book week for me, with two of my favorite "auto-buy" authors releasing titles. We got a taste of Hound at the end of Lawson and that was just enough to drive you mad. After that first chapter I couldn't wait to find out how this book would play out. One of the things I was most looking forward to was seeing how Kincaid would react to one of his girls finding love. His reaction was priceless.
This is an age-gap romance, but there isn't much emphasis on that once things get heated up. Hound does have a secret that comes into play. There is tons of action in this one and I think it really added to the story. Gigi is such a brat that she's hard to relate to at first, especially if you witnessed her antics in previous books. That being said, I warmed up to her fairly quickly even when she didn't always make the best decisions. I know I haven't said much about the plot, but SPOILERS!!! The next book was hinted at in the last chapter and I CAN'T WAIT!
I received an advance reader copy of this book that I have chosen to review.
At first I really wasn't sure I was going to like either character in this book. But then I fell in love with them as they fell in love with each other. Georgia (Gigi) is a brat who fights her parents on everything. Hound is a retired Marine trying to get a job with the Cerberus MC. It's a great book for those you like insta-lust as well as... well never mind I don't want to spoil it. Warning though I ugly cried some.
Let's just say that I've read so many books this last couple of years that sometimes I think that I can't get anything new but this woman is the bomb. And to top it all I'm about to embark on another MC book... Sweet... Marie James knows what she's doing. Every single book from her is intense, breathtaking and hot. Hound is the second book from the Cerberus MC 2.0 and Jesus... What a book... One question first... Have you read the Cerberus MC series? If not I totally advise you to read them all in order and you'll see why... This books explores the lifes of Hound and Gigi. Gigi is on the run. She's stubborn, rebeld and wild. She's always defying her parents but the day she up and left, leave them desperate to get her back. Always on the run, she doesn't stay to long in each city, she's always moving. But can she be happy? How can she find hapiness if she doesn't take a chance to find it? Hound is the alpha male type because being a former Marine left is tools on him. He's bossy, and doesn't take shi*** from no-one. He's given the task to bring Georgia Anderson home and doing so he hopes he can become a part of the MC family. But... How can you find someone that doesn't want to be found? How can you change if you don't really want to? Is it possible to love this series even more? And that's just the beginning because after this book I need to know more about the rest of the family. The plot is superb, very well written, intense, wild and hot. It's amazing that every piece fit while reading it. There were parts of the story that I wanted to get in and slap someone... Jeez... Stubborn people. The interation between the characters is raw, primal, intense and so wil. One minute they were good and the next... Let's just say that you'll get lost reading this book and will want to kill someone if they make you stop reading... Been there and done that. The story progressed smoothly and quickly and because of that I was hooked from the beginning. Marie James you continue to surprise me. I'm even more eager to know more, to read more. Please tell me that Ivy will be your next book? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
4 stars for - Hound - book two in the Cerberus MC 2.0 Second Generation by Marie James. This is a spin-off of the original series - now featuring their children as adults - it can also be read completely separate from the other books. Georgia (Gigi) Anderson left home because her parents Kincaid/Emmalyn always wanted her to be more like her twin sister. Not wanting to go to college was unacceptable to her parents so she decided to leave town and not look back. Working in strip clubs for cash wasn’t ideal, but it paid the rent and she was only qualified for so many things without a degree. She should have known there was something different about the gorgeous man that was watching her from right in front of the stage, but she wanted him something fierce. Jameson (Hound) Rawley is the new guy at Cerberus. After spending seventeen years in the military many of which were Special Ops he finds the job he’s tasked with boring. Sitting at a strip club and drinking whiskey while trying to locate someone seems to be a cake walk job and it would’ve been if he didn’t mess it all up. Hound was appreciating the pretty red head that was on the stage when he should’ve had his head in the game. Now his entire life will change due to a moment of weakness. This was a good edition to a series that I think will be even better than the original. As an added little bonus for people like me who happen to love storylines that cross over from other series - fans of the New Camelot Trilogy by Sierra Simone - you will absolutely fall in love with President Colchester AGAIN after reading this book! Can’t wait to read Griffin’s book next since it seems like he’s in a world of trouble!
Firstly, if you have never read a Marie James book before - where the hell have you been? I have never yet been disappointed with anything she has written.....and Hound is no exception.
I always worry when I am reading part of a series that the stories may become 'same old, same old' - definitely not the case with the Cerberus MC series. Marie James brings new and exciting storylines to the table, each and every time.
This book drew me in right from the very start and had me picking up my Kindle at every opportunity. My reading time has been cut drastically lately but I devoured this book in less than half the time it has taken me to read others. I adored Hound - he is such an 'alpha' character and the chemistry between him and Gigi was amazing. They didn't fall instantly in love - it was more insta-lust and a bit of a slow-burner to begin with - it took a while for them both to admit their feelings for each other.
As with other books in the series there were plenty of red hot scenes, lots of sexual tension, a nice helping of angst, parts that were filled with emotion and a little bit of humour thrown in. I absolutely loved the interactions between Kincaid and Jameson - they had me chuckling at times. But mostly, I just love the camaraderie and sense of 'family' around all the Cerberus characters. This book is up there with my favourites of the series - loved it!
Although there is a big age gap between Hound and Gigi, I didn't find this too taboo or sleazy. For me it helped that she had been living independently and working, rather than still being a young adult reliant on her parents. Whilst it says MC, this is a group of ex-military guys who work as mercenaries but always on the side of good. They aren't MC in the true sense of the word and don't deal in drugs, run guns or live life on the edge of the law.
I liked both main characters and could 'feel' their chemistry and connection. Gigi and Hound's relationship is very sexual and this is one very steamy read. That didn't bother me, but I would have liked more of the book to be about how they built their relationship after returning to New Mexico. We had a lot of insta-lust prior to this but once they were back at Cerberus HQ I didn't really feel their relationship deepening. The time line was also a little jumpy and unclear at this point.
However I thoroughly enjoyed the story and was hooked from the first page. I flew through the book and really didn't want to put it down. I like the author's writing style, enjoyed the plot twists and didn't want the book to end. I'm happy to recommend this book.
So I peaked a bit at the other reviews for Hound by Marie James and surprisingly, much of the problems of the first few chapters were not a problem with me. Maybe because i never read the previous Cerberus series until the second generation came around, or maybe because i don't expect anything specific from this author (and not in a bad way, because sometimes expecting too much can bring disappointment, right?) basically i dive right into Marie James' books expecting and hoping to be wowed and then floored only because so many love her books.
Let's start off with saying: wow. I'm floored. I really do love her books. Having read Lawson before Hound, i knew who Gigi was right from the get go, and yet, reading Hound, you realize that really, you don't know her at all. She's a complicated woman who does know what she wants and needs, only people mistake her actions as anything other than wanting to be accepted. Jameson is that for her. The man that takes her for who she is and not who she should be because her father is the MC president.
This book is hot. And i do mean hot. There are no holds barred and compared to when i read Lawson, there is no introduction in the teenage years - maybe the fact that i didn't read the first original series helped me forget that they are the children of other members, and for that i'm really glad because i can truly appreciate the journey that i go through with this story and i couldn't get enough. I was literally keeping my eyes open with my fingers because i was falling asleep but all i wanted to do was keep reading and find out what's to happen to this couple. So yeah, i will for sure be keeping my eyes opened and peeled for the next book in the series because i need to find out whose story we're getting next.
I will probably be about the only person that will say this but I had a serious problem with Georgia after her and Hound's first encounter. From the point that she was returned home until she leaves again I wanted to strangle her. She is such a brat that I swear I wanted Hound to dump her....utill!
I really enjoyed this well written story line. Cerberus is still doing their thing and along the line, Hound's job becomes his obsession. One strong willed, sexy as hell young woman that he is charged with bring back home. He wasn't supposed to screw her up against the brick wall in the alley of the club she was dancing in, he was supposed to return her to her parents, the President of Cereberus MC! Hound is a few years older than Gigi, but he can't help the pull she has on him and the fact that she can take everything that he gives to her. She's perfect for him and when he finds out that she is pregnant, he's after her again. He won't push her to make a decision that she doesn't want to make, but he does let her know his feelings. Let the fun begin, because she has to tell her daddy about this too!
From that point I really began to love this couple and wanted them to succeed so much. As his job and her pregnancy progress there are sweet moments, heart stopping moments and a moment so scary that you will be biting your nails to get through it.
Marie James never fails to deliver a book that will have you riding the edge of your seat with the suspense of the storyline and fanning yourself from the heat between the lead characters.
Truly a wonderful read and one that I Highly Recommend~!!!!
I had a little trouble with this book at the very beginning, and the first few chapters were hard to get through. It had nothing to do with the author, the story, the writing, or the series. I just didn't like the personalities of the main characters. I have to say it: I didn't like Jameson or Gigi to begin with. Jameson seemed to be a heartless mess at the beginning of this story, and Gigi seemed like a spoiled brat, that was just trying to worry her parents. However, the further I read into the book, explanations came about for the way they were acting , and I started looking at the characters from a different angle. The groundwork laid in the beginning was necessary for the story, but was tough to get through because I really wanted to knock some sense into Jameson and Gigi!
After getting through the beginning of this story, it really was great. There were so many emotions throughout, that I found myself laughing one minute, and crying the next. There was so much going on in this story that I found myself intrigued and couldn't put down my kindle. Between the love story of Jameson and Gigi, the background stories, as well as all of the ongoing action, I never knew what was going to happen next.
Despite the issues I had at the beginning with the characters, this story was well written and the characters were well developed. The story line was interesting, enjoyable, and definitely unpredictable. The best part, I think, is that even though I didn't like Jameson and Gigi at the beginning, I was rooting for them by the end of the story!
After 17 years in the Marines, Jameson “Hound” Rawley is out and looking for a new career. He’s hoping for a spot in the Cerberus MC, but needs to prove himself first. His mission is to retrieve the President’s 20-year-old daughter Georgia, and bring her home. While searching her place of employment, he is captivated by a sexy red-headed siren. Not the girl he’s looking for and with her nowhere in sight, he decided to ‘hit that’.
Georgia “Gigi” Anderson can’t wait to be 21 so she can go to Vegas and become a dancer. She has no intentions of living at home with her parents and under the thumb of her controlling father. She knows he’ll never stop trying to find her, but she’s determined to live her life her way and not in the shadow of her twin sister.
What can I say about Hound other than I really liked it. It’s emotional (and if you know me, you know I’m not a fan of emotional stories) but not in the typical way. It’s a real life, coming to maturity way. It’s also sexy as all get out. OH MY Hound and his kinks!! My only complaint is that it just ended. I almost felt like part of the book was missing. I know some of this story line will pick up in the next book, but I felt like I smacked into a brick wall wondering what the heck!? Due to that I can only give this book 4 stars (4 hands down the pants though!)
“I came home early and found him asleep with a body pillow. He’d put a thong and bra on it.” BWAHAHAHAHA oh Lawson!!
The next generation of men and women from the Cerebus MC goes from strength to strength... Hound is a lust ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy which is perfectly fine until business, in the form of Gigi, gets mixed up with his pleasure...
The Cerebus family are just what a family should be loving, supportive, protective but they also challenge their members to be better; to rise above the mundane..the interactions feel real even in the darkest moments the humour and camaraderie shines through.. Hound and Gigi embark on a tortuous journey of self discovery ..I love the the premise of this book and the fact that both Hound and Gigi provide their own unique perspective on events.....each has a very different world view ... from their first sordid encounter in a back alley the sexual chemistry between these two is sizzling....
I love this book and the characters that dwell within it’s pages. ....the lead players are united by friendship and family. ....One by one I have fallen in love with the men in this , and the previous series, and Hound has joined those ranks....as the end of the year approaches I can safely say that Hound is one of my most favourite reads of 2017.......... I received an advanced copy of this book from the author....
If you want a book that will leave you not only satisfied but reminds you why you enjoy reading, pick up a Marie James book.
Every story of hers I've read holds a special place in my heart. They are full of memorable characters and enthralling story lines. They're the kind of books that will have you losing sleep just to get one more word read. And when the last page is turned and you know you have no more book left, you're torn between cursing her name and singing her praises. Hound was a prime example of all that.
I knew from the moment I got a taste of this book at the end of the previous one that this book was going to be fantastic. But I wasn't prepared for what I got. I laughed and felt joy. I had tears and a broken heart. I got to revisit favorite characters from books past. And even got an amazing tie in to another series I love.
Saying that I enjoyed this book doesn't begin to say enough. I absolutely loved it. And once again Marie James leaves me hungry for the next book with that teaser at the end. I can't wait to see what more she has in store.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, anger, sadness, secrets, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Kincaid (Cerberus MC, #1) SINdicate Kid (Cerberus MC, #2) Shadow (Cerberus MC #3) Dominic (Cerberus MC #4) Snatch (Cerberus MC #5) Lawson (Cerberus MC 2.0 Second Generation #1)
This is Gigi and Hound’s story. Hound is on a job in order to get into the MC but he can’t find the girl. When he meets another girl at the bar he is smitten. One night might just not be enough. He knows she is trouble but does not realize how much trouble until the truth of who she is comes out. She is the job. What can he do now finish the job or risk his own job? Can he chase her down and if so will he be able to let her go? Will the difference in age matter when it’s all said and done? Will he be able to have everything he wanted from her? Or will he end up losing everything for one night with the woman he never knew he needed.
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I love Marie James' brilliant writing style, but I was conflicted when going into Hound to be honest. Not about him per se, but Georgia aka Gigi was a bit of a brat in my mind already, so that's what I'm talking about. There shouldn't have been a moment of worry though, but I'm not going to go into too much, as I don't want to spoil anything. Basically, Hound is a retired Marine, trying to get into Cerberus, with his first job to bring Gigi home, and of course, it goes a bit sideways. I've read the whole series beforehand, and of course, the Second Generation as well, but Ms. James, once again, blew me away. There are many layers to Gigi, which aren't known until I got to really know her in Hound. And while this book was full of angst which had my eyes threatening to leak more than once, it also had a lot of humor, as Hound was beleaguered when it came to Gigi, their flammable chemistry that wouldn't be denied, his feelings, and his job with Cerberus. Plus there was twists added in to make the f-bombs flow loudly. Once again, another masterpiece by the very talented, and addictive Ms. James that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
So i love Marie James back in the Kincaid - Kid and Shadow days. I’m not saying i don’t love this series. I do. Why .. because you still get to see what the guys are up to. Hound is the second book in this standalone series. If you want to catch up go grab Lawson first.
Hound is a retired Marine looking for a family. Trying to set his place in the MC he is to go fetch a girl by the name of Georgia Anderson. The girl dancing on the stage isn’t her and his pick up is no where in sight. The red head on stage will just have to occupy his time.
Gigi or Orphan Annie wants the man giving her his eyes. Little do either of them know that one encounter will lead to a whole lot of trouble.
The first few chapters i seriously was flabbergasted - I was giving myself the face palm just because of .... yup no spoilers.
This one is a good read. Love the banter on all parties and the characters are well written. Click it up and enjoy! Thank you for the ARC - Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets!
Good lord woman... you and these Cerberus MC Men.. I love that you are doing a 2nd Gen.. I knew Georgia Leigh Anderson(Gigi) was going to be a handful... Giving her daddy and mama a hard time.. and then there is Hound.. good lord that man is a fine specimen.. Gigi and Hound had quite a rollercoaster of a ride, and I enjoyed every single moment of that ride. The chemistry is these two had was off the charts hot.. and I may just look at the dirty alley walls a little differently from now on.. Seriously Marie is one of my go to authors... I have LOVED every single book she has done!! Here is to hoping for a Griffin book.. Hell I would love even a Izzy book... she may not be actual Cerberus kid but her (spoiler) daddy is a new Cerberus man..
If I could give this book more stars I totally would!! I’m obsessed with Marie James writing!! Sparks fly the minute Hound and Gigi’s eyes meet. The sexual tension was thick and hot! Their book had lots of ups and downs. When I meet Gigi in the other 2.0 book I didn’t think I would like her but I really did in this one and really got to know her more. I shed quite a few tears and some laughs and loved the surprise crossover from another book trilogy that I absolutely love!! So if you haven’t picked up a Marie James book before then you really need to get on it!!! Fingers crossed Griffins book is next!!! Arc generously provided by author for honest review
Wow, this book is so well written you can feel all the emotions of the characters, I cried, laughed and cheered throughout this book. And didn't know what to expect.
I loved Gigi, she is strong headed, and stubborn. She cares deeply for her family, but she doesn't want to be a disappointment. She loves her family, and her life. She works hard, and doesn't take any trouble from anyone. She is sassy, and feisty.
I loved Hound, he is alpha male through and through. He doesn't care for the consequences. He is strong headed, and cares deeply for his family.
I loved this book, and recommend the original series and this series.
I loved this book. I swear I laughed so hard so many times and I cried like a big ole baby. I mean ugly cried. I wasn’t fond of Gigi in the beginning but she changed so much half way through like it was a totally different person. And Hound (fans self) he’s an alpha male that has if I remember correctly 7 piercings and is a former marine. Then we get to see some of my favorite characters from this series and also from the American Queen/American King books. One of my favorite MMF books. I’m going to be so sad when this series is over. I’ve come to love this big family.
At first I was worried I wasn't going to enjoy it much bc Hound was a douche and treated Gigi like a whore bc she was a stripper and assumed she was a random lay
Then Gigi was just a hot mess throughout the book with the running away and stripping and drug use. Then she becomes pregnant and seemed like their new relationship would be loveless but things changed completely.
They fall in love Then I was literally in tears when I thought he died. Luckily everything turned around. So happy he was able to survive, see his teen daughter, and of course his new daughter and now is engaged to Gigi. So happy they both have growth and things are looking good!

Yet another incredible MC book from the talented Marie James. Hound is out for himself and not looking for anything more when the universe conspires against him and not only has him longing for a girl but the daughter of the President of the MC. What starts as a simple mission (bring Gigi home) becomes complicated between banter, stubborn mindsets and emotions/chemistry. The chemistry is perfectly written and this books in general leaves you wanting for more. I can't wait for the next one as I think I am in love with all these characters
I am a big lover of second generation stories, especially when done right...and this series is done right!
Hound is hoping to be the newest member of Cerberus MC. He has his reasons for wanting to belong and it's location is a key one. Georgia (Gigi) is one of Kincaid's twins....the one that bucks him at every turn. Hound is being tasked with bringing her home from her latest "run". When he doesn't find his target he finds the night's entertainment.... and thus begins the story of Hound and Gigi.
I loved this story. At one point my heart was pounding so hard.
Another winner by Marie James. Hound is given his job by the MC to bring Gigi home. Little does he know the trouble he is getting involved in. Gigi finally meets the man who tames her. As Hound and Gigi get to know each other, they see in each other a love that grows. This book gives us funny moments but also emotional ones that tear at the heart. I loved this book . Can't wait for Griffin
Hound is a great addition to the Cerberus MC collection. Marie James does an awesome job with love story between Jameson and Georgia. She shows just how true love can calm a person down and make them want to build a life. She also shows that no matter what true family is always there for you. This was an awesome read.
Another great sequel for this series. I knew Gigi was going to be a handful but Hound was the perfect guy to tame her wild actions. The author did an excellent job showing the he was a full member of Cerebus but a loving man at the same time. Each narrator did excellent jobs bringing the characters to life too. I'd give this 4.5 stars if I could.
This book was flipping amazing!! The chemistry between Georgia and Hound was off the charts as Marie once again does an amazing job. I couldn’t put it down until I finished.... and the ending... well all I can say is....wow!!
I just can not rave about this author enough. It's almost like your watching a movie with words. I must admit I do like a whirlwind of emotions why reading, Ms. James finds hidden turns and propels you clear to the other side of your experience.
Wow! I really loved Hound and Gigi's story. Hound was exactly what Gigi needed in her life to help her understand that not everything she believed growing up was true. And Gigi was what Hound needed to show him that it's never too late to find love.
