Wisp

He looked at his arms now. They were thin and fragile. It was a sign of age, the frailty expected with time. Young people weren’t supposed to be that weak.

Their days with her were the golden age. They called her Wisp.

A very short story. (Approximately 8 minutes reading time.)

A very sweet and heartwarming story. Little Wisp totally captures your heart, as does that gorgeous cover.

I found the flashbacks rather confusing, as there wasn't much differentiation between present day and the man's memories. I had to keep stopping and backtracking to determine what time I was in. There were also a few typos that pulled me out of the story, but those were my only complaints.

All in all, very poignant!

This was such a sweet short story, and I'm so glad I finally got a chance to read it! It's a very quick read, but in spite of that, I was able to connect with the characters. It was also very thought provoking! I have yet to be disappointed by any of Paul Willis' stories!

(This is actually a surprisingly coherent review for having been written at 5 in the morning...)

For being so short, this was so sweet. Though there were few details (how old was the main character? Why were he and the girl sick? Some questions are left unanswered), it kept the story simple, and didn't lack because of it. The Christian element was done exceptionally well; I really liked the verse.

My complaint was that the memories were often difficult to distinguish from the reality. Since I felt most of the story was a memory, though, it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

This little story was so sweet and heartwarming and sad and touching all rolled into one! I was nearly crying at times, but it has excellent lessons and a great Christian message. Highly recommended to just about anyone and everyone!

This is more of a vignette not a short story since it was so short and had more emotions than plot. But it still had a good message and was well written.

I don't usually enjoy such sad stories, but I did enjoy this one. It was solemn, but touching. My only complaint was that the transitions between present and past got a little confusing a few times - a gap between paragraphs would have easily solved this - but other than that, it was a very sweet little story with a good lesson.
