THE FIRST SIGNS that I might like writing -- and that I might be slightly competitive -- appeared when my year two (or first grade) teacher, Mrs. Holland, asked my class to write and illustrate our day. Mine read like this: “The Red team beat the Blue team, 1 to nil. And I won.” The next 47 entries covered my exploits on the soccer pitch while growing up in Ipswich, England.
In South Carolina as a teenager, my dad told me that I could get paid to watch sports provided I could write about it. Sounded easy enough and by the time I was 16, I landed a job at my town’s daily newspaper and had a column on Major League Baseball players from our area. I also covered my first riot there at a sporting event -- and it’s safe to say I was smitten with journalism.
After graduating from one of the best journalism schools in the country, I took a job as a sports editor in South Georgia and learned firsthand about the passion of high school sports in rural America. I thought I knew before, but I didn’t. This was another world.
I also had the opportunity to cover major sporting events like the Olympic Games, the World Series, the Super Bowl, and the Final Four. It was a thrill!
But nothing was as thrilling to me as uncovering the truth in investigative assignments. I once broke a story about a prominent southern football team’s NCAA violation -- and found out the violating coach had committed suicide only a few months earlier. The story won a national writing award and stoked my desire to write about these issues. It made me realize that the sports world was just another fantastic backdrop for drama.
After writing non-fiction books with athletes, for athletes, and ghost writing for many others, I decided to enter the world of fiction writing. It had been something I wanted to do but never found the time. So, I made the time--and had a blast in the process.
I’m not out to become the next Faulkner or Hemingway -- I’m just out to tell a good story. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them!
NO WAY OUT by R.J.Patterson. Brady Hawk 12 Brady Hawk met up with Fazil in the last book. In this Brady is being hunted, by Fazil not so much to kill Hawk but the mind game of having won the game. They still haven’t gotten Tommy back, and now money first. Plans didn’t go as they were suppose to. Fazil got more hostages and wants to negotiate and get Hawk to work with him. Mission help kill the president, they didn’t expect this. Al Hasib hideout,a cell, would they be alive after being taken there. A fantastic tense plot, the stakes are high, without Alex to help, even higher. A mind game at its best. Will Hawk, get Alex and Blunt out alive, great reading, for those that are reading this series,
Karin Fazil is Brady Hawks worst nightmare. A extremely lethal and highly elusive terrorist mastermind. Hawk is the primary player for the President of the United States secretive team . An highly lethal assassin. Fazil holds as hostages the only two people in the world he cares about and is threatening to kill them if Hawk fails to do his bidding. This is a highly suspenseful and action filled thriller. Enjoyed immensely!
Brady Hawk is at it again in a new thriller. The Firestorm team is after terrorists who are trying to buy an ICBM. When Alex and Blunt are captured during one of their missions, he has to find them and figure out how to get them out. Lots of action and intrigue in this great thriller. I highly recommend it.
How stupid are some people thinking they control people all the time.
Great read. Finished just in time for bed. What a great storyline. Trying to get Hawk to help with the assassination of the President. While kidnapping Alex and JD. I like the way the story moves forward covering all aspects of the story with nothing getting lost. Can't wait till tomorrow to get on with it!
When Blunt and Alex are kidnapped by Karif Fazil, Brady Hawk is manipulated into doing Fazil's dirty work. Hawk needs to be at his best to save both Blunt and Alex, as well as keeping president elect Young alive.
So many things are going on before the election. Will Young win. Kidnappings, and all kinds of horrible. HAWK stops an attack on Airforce One and more. Ready to start the next book.
When the terrorists up the stakes, it's up to Hawk to figure out a way to save several people. It's an intense story that you won't want to miss. I would recommend this book, series, and author.
I couldn’t get with all the unexplained changes that affected the plot of this book. Not going to put out any spoilers, but you’ll catch it immediately.
