After his mother's accidental death, Tareeq Cooper and his father move to the lakeside town of Springbrook. Tareeq isn't adjusting well to a dreary town where it appears to rain every other day. He wonders if he will ever get his social life back. That may soon change after meeting Mia Wayne. An unpopular and strange leader of a high school misfit group called the "Blue Crew." Mia is immediately smitten with the new comer and wants more than anything to get close to him. But something isn't right about the girl. Mia is hiding something; something that could endanger Tareeq. The mere mystery and unpopularity of Mia intrigues him, making him want to be around her even more. Once Tareeq uncovers Mia's secret, will he be able to escape the grip she has over him before it's too late?
Hi!!! I'm Chanel Harry, you know the budding author that wrote Skin Witch?! Yeah that book is epic you should check it out if you love vampires of a different breed and origin!
Anyway, I live in The Bronx which is a lovely borough that birthed Hip Hop in NYC. I am currently working on my next piece of epic literature, Reverse Kingdom!
Thanks for visiting my Goodreads page and oh yeah, don't forget to pick up Skin Witch: Tales of Soucouyants on your way!!!
This is another one of those "Yes, I totally judged the book based on the cover" reviews. Because, let's be honest, I love mermaids. If you put a mermaid on your book cover, chances are I'm going to read it. This cover particularly intrigued me because it isn't your typical sweet mermaid in sparkling seas. Chanel Harry's mermaids are dark, powerful, and irresistibly enchanting. Tareeq Cooper and his father have just moved from Brooklyn to lakeside Springbook, and he is not feeling it at all. His enthusiasm for his new home diminishes further when he encounters a strange group of girls, known to the rest of the school as the Blue Crew. They're odd. They're too flirty. They're magic. And they just might be murderers. Regardless of warnings from friends and concerned members of the community, Tareeq finds himself falling head over fins for the ringleader of the Blue Crew, Mia Wayne. I especially enjoyed this book because, like I said, it's different. It's mystical. It's new and diverse. And it left me excited and eager to read the second installment.
I don't even know how to review this odd story. I'm all for paranormal books but this book was just unexplainable. These mermaids were responsible for not only the death of the main male character, Tereeq, but many other unsuspecting m a lens in their town. Knowing how his father suffered with the loss of his wife due to these mermaids but your friends sacrificed his life to save yours just for you to go back to Mia the Mermaid and live in this underwater kingdom never to resurface again. Nah bruh! Even in a fantasy world that's farfetched! Why make your father suffer with all that he had left with his wife, his o lymph child?! For love, a manipulated love! It wasn't genuine. Just stupid!
Chanel has outdone herself with this book! I loved how she told the story of Mia, a mysterious creature and the relationship that evolved between her and Tareeq. The true identity of Mia was shocking along with the unforseen ending. Who would've thought... I'm hoping for a part 2!!
