The promise of adventure.
The life of exploration.
The lure of the Stream and the sea.

The Enterprising Kraken crew is lazing in the sunshine after they narrowly escaped the events in City of Thirst but they can't catch a break as they are faced with the Salt Sand King's army. Fin is the only one who can first see them and actually remember them. After Fin points out, Marrill and the other crew can spot them too but they soon seem to forget some of them. Interesting!

Turns out that Fin is one of the Fade, part of the group called Rise and Fade and no one remembers Fade and that's why they are an unbeatable army. They were all there to get Fin as they have been looking for him for years and Fin finds out that he has an actual family but he still doesn't feel as happy as he thought he'd be. He refuses to leave with the Fade and decides to stay on the Enterprising Kraken.

After they escape the Salt Sand King's army, One of Fade girls decide to stay behind as well. Fin doesn't trust her but he also wants answers. Marrill gives her a name, Fig but can't remember her like she can remember Fin. Fin gets a lot of answers and I was all too happy for him. He further finds out that Fade are the weak parts of Rise. Each Rise has a Fade and vice versa and that's why they are an unbeatable army as long as their twin Fade is alive, a Rise cannot be killed. Each Rise has a name but they don't give Fade a name, they don't even treat them like people and all the Fade are kept in pens until they are needed by the Rise. Rise are more memorable as well.

Enterprising Kraken crew gets to Maragham's castle and they are engaged in a game where the Salt Sand King's army also comes and participates in the game. Fin finds out that Fig sent them a message and they are after the wish orb to raise the Salt Sand King. Fin feels betrayed. They win the game but the rules change at the last minute and the Lost Sun of Dzannin arises. The Lost Sun takes Serth as his vessel and he destroys everything in his path. The Lost Sun cannot be stopped but the crew tries anyway.

They go to The Knot of the Coiled Rope where Coll got his tattoos long time ago. Coll didn't want to go but they needed the ink from a creature called Sheshefesh. They are successful until they lose Coll in the process.

You'll say you're free, but you'll never be free!

Remy becomes the new captain and they all get to the Font of Meres and a lot of revelations are made. The Lost Sun is stopped but at a huge price. I suspected from the beginning of this book and we finally find out who the Master of the Iron Tide is.

I have had a lot of complaints at the end of the second book but all those were addressed in this. A lot of the loose ends are tied at the very beginning of this book and I was glad for it otherwise I might not have enjoyed this as much as I did. Fin gets the answers he was seeking all his life. Marrill becomes better in this and she didn't annoy me at all. Coll still remains a mystery for the most part. Remy was pretty good in whatever time she got here. Naysayer was barely there but he made me smile anyway. Even Fig was good. I loved the art and that ending. I am looking forward to the next one.

I have waited so long for this book. And finally I have gotten to read it. Eee. This book was worth the wait. I just loved it so, so much. I do feel that it was way too short, though, lol. Waiting for book four will be torture. Because this book ends in a pretty bad place, and I am dying to know what happens next. Cannot wait.

I can't describe how much love I have for this series. They are just such amazing books. And gosh, the artwork. It is beyond stunning. And it all fits so well with the story. And I just love it the most. The writing in this third book was all kinds of awesome. I loved reading every moment of this book. It was simply so good.

There is so much I loved about this one. I'm not sure where to begin. There is tons more magic in this third book, and it is all incredible. And awful too. And I loved reading it all so much. This book is the darkest of the three, I think. Maybe the saddest one too, at times, at least. There is just so much happening at all times. And then there was that ending. I don't even know how Marrill and Fin will fix all of this. Gosh. But I know that they can. Because these two characters are the most amazing. And oh, how I love reading about them both. How I adore their friendship. It is the sweetest thing. I hope that they will one day be more than friends, though, hih. Crossing my fingers for that. Though I worry, because I'm very unsure how these books will end. Ack.

This whole book is an adventure. And I love that so much. Reading about Fin and Marrill is just the best thing. I adore them both so much. And I love getting to know them more and more. A lot of this book is about Fin, and his past, his family. There are so many things that got revealed. And my heart is breaking because of it all. I just love Fin the most. And I want him to be loved the most too. And I just. I need other people to remember him too. Hmph. But yeah, I really loved getting to know about his family. Just, sad.

I love that Remy is still there. She is the most awesome babysitter, lol. I really adore reading about her. She's fun. And shipping her and Coll so much. Ack. There is also more about Coll in this book. I loved that too. But I am so, so worried as well. Gosh. But yeah, learning more about Coll was all kinds of fun. Yet pretty awful too, because his past is not good at all. Aw. But even so. I adore Coll. He's an awesome character to read about. Him and Remy are both the sweetest. I still love the Naysayer, lol. He's great.

This book is also more about the old wizard, Ardent. I'm unsure what to think about him now. He was a lot more cold in this book. And that bothered me. I had so many times where I didn't like him at all. Aw. But other times he was all kinds of awesome too. Hmph. Ardent just spends all his time searching for the love of his life, Annalessa. And I did feel for him. Because some of the things he found out was heartbreaking. But I'm also really upset with this man. Hmph. He was a bit too obsessed, I think. And that made him bad.

There is a lot of new characters in this book. Like this new girl, who like Fin cannot be remembered by others. Marrill names her Fig, and oh, I loved that so much. At first I was worried that this new girl would come between Marrill and Fin, since he's spending time with her, but that never happened. And I'm so glad about that. I also hope beyond words that Fin and Fig won't become more than friends, lol, because that would just break my heart. Aw. Anyway. I did adore Fig. She was an mostly awesome person. Yay.

There is this one thing that bothered me about this book, though. Which makes me a bit sad. Aw. See, the summary says that Marrill and Fin will be without Ardent and Coll in this book. Yet that was not the case at all. They are with them all the time, until the end of the book. In the next book, they will be without them. But I kept waiting for it to happen in this book, because the summary said so. How rude. But still, despite that misleading, I loved the book the most. And I didn't mind that part. Just a little bit annoying.

I'm not sure what else to say about this precious book. I loved it beyond words. It was such an amazing third book. Eee. I just cannot wait for the next one. Hoping that book four won't be the last one. Fingers crossed. I never want to stop reading about Fin and Marrill. Just hoping that the wait for book four won't be too awful, lol. Shadows of the Lost Sun was the most gorgeous book. Full of adventure and amazing characters. This book broke my heart so, so often. I loved it the most. Go read these three books. Now.

I didn't like this book as much as the first two books in this series, but it was still a fun story. Like the previous two books, there was some interesting information and plenty of action in this story. Also, I was surprised by the ending, but I liked it. It was my favorite part of the story. It has me looking forward to the next/last book in this series.

I still like most of the characters. My favorite is Naysayer, but he wasn't in this book much. I liked Ardent the least. He let his obsession get the best of him and made poor decisions because of it.

🧭⚓🍁Shadows of the Lost Sun🍁⚓🧭
After stopping a powerful wizard from releasing the Iron Tide, Marrill and Fin want to find his mother. However, Fin's people find him first with a secret motive in mind: They want to steal a magical orb off of their ship. As the group get separated, a shocking revelation about Coll is brought to light. Ardent faces a moral struggle, and Fin realizes something that will forever change his life. Now having to bargain and survive the Rise and Fades, and as the undeniable fate of the Pirate Stream is drawing closer, Fin and Marrill must figure out a way to prevent the prophecy's spine-chilling message.

I enjoyed this book better than the other books. This book had shocking revelations that I did not predict, but I entirely enjoyed it! Similar to all the other books, this series is bursting with imagination from creative world-building and action-packed plots. Although I wish that Marrill's character could be focused on, as I feel she has some important aspects of her character that need to be explored. Her mother's illness feels a lot like a plot device as it only comes when needed but doesn't seem to be focused on enough.

Fin's character is gaining more and more layers. I think his character is really being explored. The plot twists were shocking but unique, and the world-building was well structured and vast. Our cast of different characters help keep interest in all their different personalities.

Though some points of this series have been filler, other moments are done to perfection.

Oh NO you didn't! How could you leave the ending like THIS?! No pressure or anything here--okay, who am I kidding? MUCH pressure here!--I need you to wrap all of those nasty, loose ends together and bring about a HAPPY ending, PLEASE. Things are looking very grim.

Thank you Ryan and Davis for ruining the real world for me (and our dinner a couple of times when I couldn't tear myself away, haha). Oh, me oh, my. Talking cats and dragons and danger around every turn! What will this world come to?

Boy, I'll tell you what, this series keeps throwing me for a loop. I need to read the last book ASAP. I'm glad we get a satisfying backstory for Fin's family. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that.

I think by this point, one of my favorite characters is Marrill's babysitter. That girl is devoted to her job. She may be confused sometimes, but she knows how many kids are supposed to be on the ship. Plus, her with Coll just makes me happy. Her character development has been wonderful to read. It really makes me wonder what is going to happen in the last book, not just with her, but with all the characters. Some of them are from the crazy world they are navigating, but the two girls are not. Are they going to be able to get home? Even if they can, will they actually go?

It's a good thing book four is already out, I hate having to wait for my questions to be answered.

I would put this series as higher middle-grade. What I mean, is that there is a lot going on and a lot of word play that those at a higher reading level will enjoy. Readers not quite to that point will still enjoy the story, they may just miss some little details. As far as I'm concerned, as long as a reader has reached larger chapter books, they will enjoy this series. Heck, I'm in my 30s and thoroughly enjoying myself.

I picked this book up on Monday and finished it on Tuesday. I couldn't put it down. It was so exciting and well done and it's a good thing I have book four already because I need to read it immediately.

Awesome Things
• More Pirate Stream places. They never fail to amaze. My favorite this time was the Dream Weavers.
• The concept of the Rise and Fade. That was cool.
• Fin and Fig's character arcs. It was so sad learning what Fig had gone through but I loved how she overcame it in the end.
• That plot twist.

I can't think of any bad things from this book, except maybe . On to the final book.

Our plucky band keeps trying to save the world. Some people leave the band. Some people join. Old mentors and navigators are lost; new mentors and navigators are found; one character has a very believable villain turn; another has a slightly less believable hero turn.

I was annoyed last time that there didn't seem to be any particular reason for the girl-from-earth to be on the magic boat in the Pirate Stream; that it felt like any well intentioned kid could have filled this spot. This time she did some things that not everyone could do.

It plays (gently) with themes of monomania and loss. One character wants another so bad that he turned into a monster. Another challenged the foundation of her society to save her child. Both occasion meaningful loss.

Also, our characters sail into a giant sentient mollusk. that's gonna be fun.

I almost gave up on this book.

Not because it was bad, but I just wasn't getting swept up in the magic and crazy world-building like I did in the other two books. Honestly it wasn't until Coll's pov that I really fell back in love with this story because uhm, Coll.

Coll glanced at Remy. She stood gripping the wheel, ignoring it all as she steered them away from the void. Her quick thinking and daring had saved their lives. And he had no idea what to say. So he gestured at the Steam-doused cacophony. "This is why we don't leave things lying around the deck."

Like I said. Coll.

I was hovering at a 3 star rating when The Twist happened and it gave me life so here I am with 5 stars and no 4th book (。•́︿ •̀。)

Having read the first three in the series, I can say this is probably ranked second in terms of how good it is. The first one was the best just because of all the world building. This one is second for all the gut punches it throws. Don't go in with unicorns and butterflies in mind. With that said, it is still fairly light hearted. The best thing I've found with this series is that it doesn't dumb down the drama, tension, and heartbreak for kids' sake. I appreciate that. Children are smarter and more emotionally intelligent than people give them credit for. It's a much deeper read than I expected and I'm so glad it does that, while still having some laugh out loud moments. Can't wait to read the final book.

Still fun, still imaginative, still cleverly written. This one has more of the feel of the first book, but that may just be because the crew is back out on the open Stream again. Maybe I just waited too long between books, but I did find some of the plot threads hard to follow, so hopefully I can keep up well enough to actually understand whatever happens in the next/last book! I still love the effervescence of John Parke Davis and Carrie Ryan's writing. They really have fun with the way words are used to tell a tale and I think more children's books need that.

Amazing. The thrilling third book of the Map to Everywhere series held me captivated with every turn of the page. Filled with heart-wrenching plot twists, emotional scenes, and clever and laugh-out-loud humor, the book kept the lovable pace of the other two books. There's not much I can talk about without spoiling everything, but this book was phenomenal. If the fourth one doesn't come out soon, I may die from the anticipation that the cliff-hanger ending left me on!

i NEVER TRUSTED that man. I NEVER TRUSTED HIM.

*ahem*

The plot thickens, wild and wacky hijinks appears, and some really impressively intense stuff about the nature of personhood, real strength, a duty towards truth, and what it is appropriate to sacrifice to save someone you care for, all make their appearance.

Also a menacing and sentience mollusc who infects sailors with stories and binds them to itself with living ink.

Middle Grade is the grade, you guys.

Where the first two books were more of an exploratory adventure, this really kept the pulse going with its intense overhanging threat. Some new characters added to the mix kept things interesting between the existing characters and the final revelation, though seen coming, was quite the kick in the teeth. As before, this book contains some wonderful illustrations that really do help immerse the reader in the world on the Pirate Streem.

The third installment in the Map to Everywhere series is a lot darker and less funny than the first two. I also found it much more confusing, although that may have been because I was so excited to read it that I finished it in about three hours. I was disappointed by the plot twists, which undermined the foundation that the first two books had laid. I am almost afraid to read the fourth book.

As with the other books on the series this one is full of adventure, humor, and imagination! Even as an adult I’ve greatly enjoyed these books. This one is action packed and is difficult to put down. The pace only quickens toward the end leaving you breathless and awaiting the next book. Can’t wait to read Iron Tide Rising!

This was a great third installment to The Map to Everywhere series! Fin and Marrill, along with the lovable, oddball crew of the Enterprising Kraken, go on another whirlwind adventure to save the Pirate Stream. There’s new friends, a still-troublesome Naysayer, and one very angry Karnelius. Secrets are exposed, quests abound, and adventure is high. I couldn’t put this book down!

The Rise (the unbeatable army) knows about the wish orb. They are playing Margaham's game to win it and free the Salt Sand King.
Marrill, Fin and the rest of the crew of the Enterprosing Kraken are trying to prevent the Rise of the Lost Sun. Utter destruction of the magical Pirate Stream will occur if the Lost Sun of Dzamin escapes. It seems to be finishing what Seeth started all those years ago.

My favorite part was when the Fade managed to stop the Rise. My least favorite part was when Ardent turned out to be the Master of the Iron Ship, and he used the wish and released the Salt Sand King. I was not expecting that ending.
