My daughter and I flew through this one and cheered one of our favorite characters on to victory. We were so excited to see this series created some gender equality between girls and boys when it came to knighthood. There is something so cool about the dynamic between the main characters and how, in a way, Clara and Lucas are now more equal than ever before.

I can't wait to see her growth as this book definitely elevated her character.

I figured I'd come back to reading with an easy read, picking up this series right where I left it, and it's not bad. There's another competition in Wrenly and Prince Lucas isn't a two-faced jerk in this one. A prophecy has been revealed that the age requirement for a dangerous competition will be lowered so little kids can enter, which is basically the opposite of what happened in Rowling's 'Goblet of Fire.' The prize is to become the thirteenth knight of Wrenly. Prince Lucas does not compete. Just his best friend, another boy, and a bunch of idiotically clumsy adults. It's a pretty good book for the first read in months. 3 stars

My Review: This book in the series focused more on Clara than on Lucas, though I love the way he supported his friend throughout the story. Definitely a book about girls doing everything the boys can do, which is important for kids in the target audience to see demonstrated. It is also about making the right choices, choosing to let anger go and about being a good sport and team work. And of course there are dragons! I think young readers will enjoy this book as much as I did.

199 pgs. Another fun adventure awaits Clara and Lucas as a mysterious knight comes for a special ceremony. Clara decides to participate in a special contest that involves a new dragon. Kids who already read this series will especially enjoy this one. Highly recommended for Grades 3-5.

Read aloud to R & J. One of my favorites. But when will the thirteenth night play into the rest of the series?

Lucas and Clara and their giant friends were in Flatfrost and they heard a horn. Their giant friends didn't know what it meant, so Lucas and Clara told the story. They hurried back to the castle and Clara signed up to try to be the thirteenth knight. There were three challenges. Clara won, so she got armor and she got to have a dragon to ride on.
