New York Ever After #1

Christmas at the Little Knitting Box

Rate this book
Perfect for fans of Sarah Morgan & Mandy Baggot.

Christmas is coming and New York is in full swing for the snowy season. But at The Little Knitting Box in the West Village, things are about to change …

The Little Knitting Box has been in Cleo’s family for nearly four decades, and since she arrived fresh off the plane from the Cotswolds four years ago, Cleo has been doing a stellar job of running the store. But instead of an early Christmas card in the mail this year, she gets a letter that tips her world on its axis.

Dylan has had a tumultuous few years. His marriage broke down, his mother passed away and he’s been trying to pick up the pieces as a stay-at-home dad. All he wants this Christmas is to give his kids the home and stability they need. But when he meets Cleo at a party one night, he begins to see it’s not always so easy to move on and pick up the pieces, especially when his ex seems determined to win him back.

When the snow starts to fall in New York City, both Cleo and Dylan realise life is rarely so black and white and both of them have choices to make. Will Dylan follow his heart or his head? And will Cleo ever allow herself to be a part of another family when her own fell apart at the seams?

Full of snow, love and the true meaning of Christmas, this novel will have you hooked until the final page.

I was drawn to this book because of the cover and NYC setting. I was a bit hesitant about the knitting part. Fortunately, the story worked out pretty well overall.

This reads like a typical holiday movie. It's a sweet storyline, and Cleo and Dylan are likable. The vivid setting descriptions will transport you to NYC and Connecticut during Christmas time.

Overall, I enjoyed this story about family and new beginnings. I'm not quite sure I'll continue on with this series, but I'm glad I read this one. Perhaps I'll try something else by this author instead.

I was first attracted to this book by its beautiful cover.

Christmas at The Little Knitting Box is a story set in a close-knit community and is as cosy as a woolly jumper.

I loved the shop, and was dying to have a good old rummage around it. I was able to imagine the colour, texture and smell of the balls of wool as if they were in my own hands. My full-time job is selling novelty craft buttons online, so I couldn’t help but imagine having my very own novelty buttons corner within The Little Knitting Box. I also loved that Cleo (who I spent the whole book calling Chloe in my mind) had the nickname Buttons, as I’m known as Auntie Buttons to the little ones amongst my family and friends.

This is an overall feel-good romance with a great mix of characters, a strong focus on family and a festive feel to it.

Now where did I put those knitting needles and that learn how to knit book of mine?!

5☆ A warm Romantic feel good read, that's full of Christmas magic

When I first see Christmas at the Little Knitting Box I was so excited as it bought back so many beautiful memories of knitting with my Nan.
She taught me all the stitches. Even when I lost a few lol!
Unfortunately my Nan is no longer with us and reading this story might just inspire me to find my knitting needles again!  Well that's if my rheumatoid let's me lol But that's for another time!

The Little Knitting Box is a treasure box of all things beautiful. From the delicate alpaca yarn, to the beautiful buttons.
Cleo has literally thought of everything.
All of the Little Knitting clubs where people just come to socialise it's a place I wish i could visit. There are so few of these gems around now!

Cleo is now running the Little Knitting Box for her Grandpa Joe after her Grandma passed away he could no longer cope. Plus Cleo is running from her past!

So when Cleo gets a letter to say she has 1 year left on her lease she is devestated.
There is no way she can afford to buy somewhere else. She just doesn't know what the future holds!

When Violet her best friend invites her to a party she really isn't in the mood to go, but she never gets out and maybe it's time to have some fun.
After a good few wines she relaxes.

In walks Dylan! He is very gorgeous!
They get talking over a bottle of champagne and he tells her that he had just buried his mother that day!
Cleo and Dylan instantly connect and their is obviously a spark and a very steamy embrace up a tree!! LOL

But Dylan has 2 children and Cleo really doesn't want to play mother.
She has a very strained relationship with her step mum and it's scared her.

Will things work out for them?
Will Cleo be able to let her guard down?
What are the secrets Cleo is hiding!
Will the Little Knitting Box survive?

Dylan is a fantastic Dad, Prue walked out on him and their 2 children as he lost his job and Prue was all about the money and lifestyle. Dylan could no longer provide her with her lavish lifestyle so she left!
Grrr now she's back.... but what does she want?

I loved Cleo she has a heart of gold, but clearly has a lot of issues when it comes to relationships.
Cleo loves Christmas and maybe it's time she had herself a magical romantic Christmas!!

I adored this beautifully charming book. There is emotion, romance, gorgeous knitting, loveable characters  ( especially Grandpa Joe who is a big charmer and a hit with the ladies) , family dramas, friendship, and best of all its Christmas!

I highly recommend this book to those looking for a warm, cosy Christmas read that will make you feel good, and fall in love with the charming Little Knitting Box.

I received this book from Rachel Random Resources in which I voluntarily reviewed.

What a wonderful festive read!

There is literally nothing I didn’t like about this book. I loved all of it. From the wonderful New York setting to the fabulous shop as well as the engaging characters.

The story flicks between Cleo and Dylan, this way we get to know both characters really well. Even though essentially this is a romantic read, it really was so much more. Both Cleo and Dylan have to overcome people and things from their past in order to move on with their lives. Seeing them deal with their situations had me well and truly hooked.

I’ve never been one for knitting. My mum tried teaching me when I was a child but was never great so didn’t take me long to grow bored of it. The parts in this story though to do with the Little Knitting Box had me in awe. I felt like a child in a candy shop. I could so easily visualise the wonderful array of colours and the feel of the different materials. It had me wanting to rush straight out and buy myself some knitting needles.

Christmas at the Little Knitting Box is the perfect read for this time of year. It’s all about friendships, loved ones as well as being true to yourself and going after what you want in this life. A book that you will want to curl up with and lose yourself into.

The cover on this book is perfectly adorable. It also makes me slightly jealous because I have the lovely cold weather but no snow. I will probably not see snow until 2021.. which again, sucks. I just want a white freaking Christmas but mother nature and Virginia just don't get along.

Back to the book. It was really cute and I enjoyed getting to know all the characters within it. Christmas in New York can be magical all on it's own but Christmas anywhere seems perfect to me. Unless, it's at the beach. Then no, go away fake Christmas.

In it, you will meet Cleo and Dylan. Once these two run into another, sparks start to fly. Unfortunately, once there's a hint of anything romantic between them - drama arrives. Which, okay, the drama was pretty entertaining on it's own because Dylan and his ex were a piece of work. It was also realistic that he realized moving on with someone else, aka Cleo, wasn't going to be easy either. No matter what path of love he decided to go on.. it was going to be a lot of work.

While that's all going down, Cleo is dealing with some other news that is about her store: The Little Knitting Box. Now this has been within her family for years. So when she gets bad news, well, it doesn't go well. So on top of all that, she might have feelings for Dylan and might have a new job opportunity as well.

In the end, the few twists and turns made this book enjoyable. I feel like I devoured this and I'm excited to dive into the next book of this series.

My grandmother tried to teach me crocheting and knitting when I was younger, but I never got the hang of it. Now I wish I had as it would have been more of a way to feel connected to her, but I have plenty of other wonderful memories.
I think this is only the second book or so that I've read of that takes place in a yarn shop. The descriptions of the varieties of yarns, the patterns, types of needles, haberdashery and the encouraging customers was a soothing balm. The book was a comfort to read.
An unexpected letter is what Cleo receives at the yarn shop that's been passed down through various family members for 40 years. The lease is up, and she'll have to relocate. New York's rents are outrageous and she's not even sure she can find an accessible shop not too far away from all her customers. New York is nothing like Cotswold where Cleo is from but it's home now that she's managing her family's Little Knitting Box yarn shop. How can she ever leave it?
Dylan, divorced father of two, a young boy and girl, has recently had his mother pass away and is enjoying working from home rather than at the corporate office. His wife is regretting the divorce and wants a second chance at their marriage.
All Dylan wants is to be the best father for his children he can and possibly a chance with Cleo from the Little Knitting Box. The author beautifully takes us through the ups and downs of the emotions involved in the various relationships. Cleo has a secret she's hiding from him. Will this relationship be able to progress with the controlling ex-wife seemingly dominating his time? I really liked Cleo's employee Kaisha; she has a great fun personality. Fun, festive, warm and welcoming this was a read I'll be reading again at some time.

I read this as part of the Boldwood Books read-along but unfortunately lost my reading mojo as well as being busy over Christmas so it took me a little longer to read than it should have.

I am a big knitting fan so this was the perfect Christmassy read. Set in a knitting shop in New York which Cleo has moved from England to run for her Grandpa Joe (yes I thought of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory every time I read his name!). The business had been started by her Grandma many years ago, but it is being forced to close as the little row of shops has been sold by the landlord. Who just happens to be the possible new man in her life!

Both Cleo and her possible new man Dylan are recently divorced but can they move on from their pasts? Will Cleo move back to England to run her Auntie and Uncle’s knitting shop now they are retiring?

A joyous read, and I look forward to book 2.

I like to read Christmas-themed books during December. That leaves me the choice of cozy mysteries and romances. I am not a big fan of either, but this was in my library so I took a chance. Plus it was set in a knitting store.

Knitters read fiction about knitters and knit shops with a very critical eye. Is the author just using this theme and setting to sell the book to knitters? Does the author actually know anything about knitting and yarn? Does she/he even knit? Well the premise is that a British woman,in her late 20's and recently divorced goes to New York to take over a knitting shop in the West Village, NYC after her grandmother, the proprietor, passes away. She doesn't know much about knitting but learns. After 4 years Cleo is very comfortable in her shop and life. Of course, there is a crisis - redevelopment means she will have to move and/or give up her business, and of course there is a love interest.

There are some flaws or questionable details. Who knits socks out of vicuna yarn - $225 for 25 grams (and you need more than that for socks)? In the description, the protagonist is described as arriving off a plane from the Cotswolds, as if there were an airport in that rural setting. This is a G-rated romance (there must be a term for that), so it is suitable to all readers looking for an entertaining and sweet romance for the Christmas season.

This was good for what it was. It’s nothing amazing but it was cute and I loved the Christmas atmosphere. I think a lot of things could have happened a little faster with these grown adults would have communicated, but that’s romance for you. This was exactly like a Christmas hallmark movie so if you like those I would recommend this!

Cosy, colourful, beautifully written, kept me guessing throughout and well its Christmas in New York what's not to love!

This is a rather warm and cosy story, its a rather sweet romance, and at the same time its so much more than that. Its a hug of a book with characters that I felt connected to instantly.

When I say colourful, wow did Helen Rolfe swallow a colour dictionary, so many different shades of the various yarns mentioned. I could visualise all the various tones and decided that it must be a very pretty knitting shop with them all on display. And the descriptions of the various wools and yarns were also well researched, and thankfully my wool allergy doesn't kick in just reading about it!

It truly was a beautifully written story, at times I was almost in tears just from things in the characters pasts, others I was just amazed how much I felt I knew both Cleo and Dylan. We see things from both of their perspectives, so I was able to fall for Dylan's children, as well as enjoy the interactions between Cleo and her new assistant Kaisha.

There was a real will they, won't they feel to the Dyland and Cleo story - I imagined just about ever scenario as to what may happen, apart from the real one, and I honestly had no clue which way it would go until the last few pages. In fact we don't even find out at least one of the secrets until really late on, and it does explain some of the hinted at thoughts throughout.

As you know from fiction and movies, Christmas in New York is magical, and I really feel as though I have experienced a Christmas period in this book from just before Thanksgiving, all through the run up to the big day and onwards. And in this book we get Christmas markets, lights, food, carols just the whole spirit of the season, it was wonderful.

Christmas at the Little Knitting Box is a fantastic festive tale.

Christmas at the Little Knitting Box
by: Helen Rolfe
First in New York Ever After Series
Boldwood Books

In her holiday story, Rolfe gifted me everything on my wish list for a warm, heartfelt Christmas book. It left me in believing in second chances in life and love, even after setbacks and loss.

Cleo left England for New York to manage the knitting shop. After four years, the business' future is in jeopardy. The male lead, Dylan, is a father facing a death in his family as well as marital upheavals.

Rolfe's writing is vivid with the snowy, wintry atmosphere of both New York and Connecticut at Christmas. Dylan and Cleo each need second chances at love, and I was captivated from their first magical meeting throughout their journey. From descriptions of grief and romance, to colors and textures of yarn, or outdoor holiday market scenes, all of my emotions and senses were stimulated by Rolfe's words.

This wondrous book is a delightful, lovely holiday treat. I'd love to find some handcrafted scarves, gloves, and mittens in my stocking from leading lady Cleo's family business, the Little Knitting Box.

Thank you to the author, Boldwood Books, and Net Galley for a gifted copy of this book. My review is my own.

Some of this book was cute but it was pretty generic. The two main characters had the most chemistry at the very beginning and then it just kind of flatlined after that. Nothing super interesting happened in the book that caught my attention and honestly, I don't think I could tell you half of what happened in this book. It's kind of forgettable.

Christmas at the Little Knitting Box by Helen Rolfe is the first book in the New York Ever After series. I found Christmas at the Little Knitting Box to be a satisfactory story. It has your standard romance scenario with two people who are drawn to each other, but there is something standing in their way. In this case, Dylan owns the building where Cleo has her knitting shop. Dylan needs to sell the building to pay expenses while he gets his new business off the ground. The two are attracted to each other. Cleo is hesitant to become involved because he has children and Dylan’s ex-wife still seems to be in the picture. There was chemistry between Cleo and Dylan in the beginning, but, as the book progressed, it seemed to dissipate. Cleo focuses on her issues and Dylan on his. The two took their time to work on their individual issues before diving into a romance. I had trouble liking Cleo. Her mother died when she was a child. When her father remarried after a few years, Cleo resented her new stepmother. It is natural for a kid to resent a new stepparent, but it is not natural to dislike the person over ten years later. I liked Cleo’s grandfather. He is a sweet man who is getting a second chance at romance. I enjoyed the descriptions of the yarn Cleo sold in her shop. I cannot imagine someone using expensive vicuna yarn for a pair of socks ($300 for one ounce 28 grams). There are some details that are dubious. There were British terms used throughout the story (flat and nappies are two examples). I understood Cleo using them, but they would not be normal for the other characters. I tried to get into the story, but I could not. Christmas at the Little Knitting Box is nice story, but it is forgetful.

Firstly there needs to be a nod to the designer as the cover is gorgeous, so festive and in keeping with the story!

Christmas at the Little Knitting Box whisks the reader to West Village in New York during the weeks leading up to Christmas. Cleo runs the Little Knitting Box, a business that has been in her family for decades and which has brought her over from England. Cleo is recently divorced and enjoying her new life in New York until a letter arrives jeopardising the future of he business.

Dylan is a single father of 2; 6 year old Ruby and 4 year old Jacob, following the breakdown of his marriage. Dylan is also a trained lawyer but has decided to pursue a creative career – much to his ex-wife’s disapproval!

Cleo and Dylan meet at a mutual friends party and hit it off straight away – it’s clear from the start that they are perfect for one another how both have a lot of emotional baggage.

Christmas at the Little Knitting Box is a beautiful modern romance but also an exploration into relationships across different generations. Cleo has a lovely relationship with her Grandpa Joe and his lady friend Maggie however the relationship she has with her stepmother is difficult – Cleo is almost still the difficult teenager she was many moons ago, due to the grief of losing her mother at such a young age.

It doesn’t take long in this book to really bond with both Cleo and Dylan, the author achieves this brilliantly through narrative from both their perspectives. They are both very real characters with their flaws and insecurities, but ultimately both have a heart of gold.

The setting, both in location and time of year are perfect for this book as both set each other off tremendously.

A wonderful, heartwarming and cosy festive read!

Cleo undid his jacket and his shirt, and when she reached the last button, she ran her hands across his chest, toned, defined and with enough hair to bury her hands in and let her know he was all man.(pág.49.1 🤷‍♀️ eso pone en mi eReader)

Ahí queda eso...

This is a beautiful, cosy, snugly, wintry read.  Meet Cleo, she ran to New York 4 years ago from England, leaving behind a failed marriage.  Now divorced she has taken over The Little Knitting Box, a family run business that Cleo fits into perfectly.  She has found her safe haven amongst the ribbons, buttons, threads and wool that makes up this haberdashery shop.
Now meet Dylan, ex husband, ex lawyer and father of two.  Things were going well until his ex-wife Prue starts spending more time with the children.  She has made a mistake, wants to try again, be part of the family.  Dylan thinks she has something up her sleeve.

But things for these two people are about to change.  Unforeseen developments are on the horizon that will make both Cleo and Dylan re-think their individual futures.
This is a story that has pulled on the city of New York, a city that does Christmas, and does it well.  Helen has managed to bring the sights, sounds, smells and atmosphere onto the pages and into my head.  She has invoked the warm cosy Christmas feeling into her pages and has wrapped it around a story very adeptly.  The Knitting Box descriptions are a delight, I could see the colours, shapes and feel the textures.

The plot hooked me from the first few paragraphs and kept me turning the pages. Among the plots that are told in this story, there is one that I really liked.  Second chances,  should people be given a second chance ? This I really liked as there were may different aspects, scenarios and situations that involved this theme.  A constant will they, won’t they plot, with some unexpected twists and developments.
This is a book that I fell in love with, it is out of my usual reading genres, but I am so glad I gave this book a chance.  I wanted a read that was Christmas themed, with a bit of romance and had a good story line.  This ticked all of those requirements and added quite a lot more.  A look at life, love, relationships and past personal problems that have an impact on life.

I would highly recommend this beautifully written Christmas book.  A great read that is perfect for snuggling up under a blanket or beside an open fire with a constant supply of hot chocolate.  Ideal for readers of romance, women’s fiction and general fiction.

Having previously read one book by this author (which I loved), I was delighted to discover this series of books. It was a perfect, Christmassy read and what’s more, it was set in New York! I did get slightly frustrated with the whole “will they, won’t they” between Cleo and Dylan but only because I was just desperate for them to get together! I loved their characters and everything else about this book! Am currently reading the second book in this series and am already hooked! A definite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.

If you like Hallmark Movies and predictable yet sweet romance books, this is the perfect Christmas book for you! Not a ton of “meat” but I definitely don’t want that in a book this time of year. Easy, sweet fluff read!

A gorgeous story full of Christmas spirit. I loved the sound of Cleo’s shop - a proper traditional treasure trove of a shop and one which I could totally understand was at the heart of the community.
The background to Cleo’s story was beautifully written - I loved learning about her family and the choices made in her life.
The relationship she started with Dylan and his family was definitely a slow burner - both with history it was obvious it was going to take something special for them both to be able to move on.
Full of Christmas treats like a craft fair and Christmas decorations this had me wishing the days away. The perfect festive treat.

I just did not understand or feel the connection between Dillon and Cleo.. perhaps being in the middle of a mixed family and knowing how difficult it is... I can't get excited for a family about to embark on the struggles... And then it was just ridiculous that they ended up getting pregnant even though she wouldn't do it with her first husband

This book is amazing from the first page to the last now want to read the rest in the series. It’s a book full of Christmas romance and heartbreak and learning to move forward from the past. The characters are brilliant and you think you are there with them simply brilliant.
Cleo left England after splitting up with her boyfriend and head to New York her family have had a shop called the little knitting box for years and she takes over running it and she’s done a great job but she gets a letter in the post that brings things crashing down and she really doesn’t no what to do. Then you have Dylan who has had a hard few years bring up his children when his wife left him. His mother has just passed away and he’s trying to pick up the pieces. He goes to a party and cleo is there and he can see something in her and wants to see her more. Problem is his ex turns up on his door and wants to get back with him and he’s not sure what he wants other than for her children to be happy. Cleo runs her shop and tries to decide what to do for her future she’s fallen for Dylan but she can’t see a future as she’s frightened about her future with having a hard past. Will they both decide what is best for them and will they will able to find love and happiness again.

DNF at 38%. I'm a knitter, so I thought it would be cute. One of heroines's hang ups is pushy stepmoms, which is of course, why she decides an excellent second date is to show up unannounced up to her love interest's Thanksgiving with his kids. Seriously deep WTF, so I noped right out. To that point, I hadn't found the book particularly engaging, so it wasn't a hard choice.

Christmas at the Little Knitting Box is the type of story that I love on the Hallmark Channel at Christmas time. The Little Knitting Box has been in Cleo’s family for nearly four decades. When she left the Cotswolds four years ago, she ended up in the West Village in New York and has been running the store for her Grandpa Joe. This is her best season yet, so she was not prepared for the letter she got. The block of stores has been sold and they will have to move or close their businesses. Fortunately, they will get one year to make their decisions. Dylan, the man who sold them has had a difficult few years. His father died and he has to help his mother get out of debt, his marriage breaks up, and then his mother dies. He was always a stay at home dad, able to work from home, so with the income from the sale of the buildings, he will be able to expand his business. One night, Cleo and Dylan meet each other at a party and there is an instant attraction. As they get to know each other, it seems things might work out, but his ex reappears and wants to get back together, and Cleo is trying to decide what to do about her business. Will there be a happily ever after?

This was a fun story, with lots of ups and downs. The characters were likable and relatable, but for me, Dylan's kids steal the show. There are a lot of Christmas festivities, fun activities and get togethers that give this that Christmas feel. Cleo is a sweetheart, one that always looks for the good in everyone and she loves her Grandpa Joe. She has a strained relationship with her step-mother, and I loved the scene where they actually talk and sort things out. This story has all that I love in a Christmas Romance. There is family, friendship, a bad guy or conglomerate, kids, christmas activities and that Christmas Magic that ties it all up nicely with a happily ever after. If you are looking for a sweet, uplifting, somewhat predictable, Christmas Romance, then you will love this one. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Andi Ackerman and Andy Ingalls. Because the story has both Cleo's and Dylan's POV, it was wonderful to have both a male and female narrator. It added to my enjoyment of the story.

I may not be able to afford Christmas in New York but this book is most certainly the next best thing to actually being there. With its stunning descriptions, loveable and completely engaging characters, and twists along the way which will blow your mind, CHRISTMAS AT THE LITTLE KNITTING BOX by Helen J. Rolfe is a mesmerising story that should be read by everyone - I guarantee you if it was, the world would be a better place!

Cleo left England and all of her troubles behind her four years ago when she moved to New York to take over The Little Knitting Box for her beloved grandfather. But when she receives a letter informing her that the space she leases will be sold in the near future, it forces Cleo to really think about her life and what she truly wants. And can she find happiness with a ready-made family and a gorgeous man whose own past resurfaces at the worst possible moment?

I fell instantly in love with this story and I really wish there was a little knitting box store where I live as it just created such a comforting, cosy atmosphere that was evident throughout. Cleo and Dylan have both suffered losses and grief, and as they tentatively reach out to each other and the connection that exists between them, we can see the cogs turning in their minds as they cannot decide whether they should follow their hearts or their heads. There is plenty of drama and secrets in this story which will throw you completely off balance, and the more I got to know the characters I could not stop myself from getting emotionally invested in their story.

CHRISTMAS AT THE LITTLE KNITTING BOX by Helen J. Rolfe is everything that is heartwarming about Christmas and romance all wrapped up in one perfect story and I cannot wait to read the next instalment in this series, which you can find out more about further down in this blog post. So take my advice and treat yourself to this beautiful story and its sequel. Happy reading!

Cleo moved to New York from England to take over her grandparents knitting store and get a chance to figure everything out after her divorce. But now, everything is not fine. The building with the shop has been sold, so now she's trying to figure out how to get through the holiday season without loosing it.

Dylan has his own set of worries throughout the holiday season. Divorced and a dad to two kids he's trying to navigate this new change. When he and Cleo meet, they connect, but will that connection last?

Christmas at the Little Knitting Box is a quick, nice Christmas story. There wasn't as much romance in this as I thought there would be as both Dylan and Cleo has their own issues to work out as they are trying to figure out what they are to each other. Dylan has to figure things out with his ex-wife while Cleo has to figure out things with her ex-husband and the shop.

This is a cute, cozy read, but for me there was nothing special about it that really made it stand out. Cleo was focused on her shop and Dylan was focused on his family. I did enjoy that the two took time to figure themselves instead of diving in head first to their relationship, but as I said, it wasn't anything special.

Overall I think the story was good, but I struggled through parts of it.

It was hard for me to get into this possible relationship between Cleo and Dylan, since it seemed like every encounter they had besides the first didn't end very well. Plus, it was just too many complications.

Besides the issue with the store, which was a non-issue, there was the exes that wanted back in. They didn't spend enough good times together to make the love believable.

I think it may be that I didn't connect to Cleo much. She dislike her stepmom since she was a kid, but the woman didn't do anything to warrant it besides get in a relationship with Cleo's dad. Grow up!!! You're freaking 29 years old, why is this still an issue???

I still liked the epilogue though.

I read this book for the #BoldBookClub readalong on Instagram.

I had trouble getting into the story and connecting with the protagonists. The story is about a woman, Cloe, who grew up in Britain and moved back to the US to take over her grandmother's yarn shop in NYC four years ago. Her love interest, Dylan, is a former lawyer turned web designer with two kids, who also owns the building where Cloe's shop is housed.

The author of the story is British and it shows throughout the story. Yes, Cloe grew up in Britain and would certainly use British terms when speaking, but everyone around her would use American English and hence say things like "apartment" rather than "flat"; yet everyone uses British vernacular.

This would probably work wonderfully as a film though.

This was such a...mature...romance. Problems come up and all the characters actually act like adults. A potentially big conflict comes up pretty early in the story when the hero realizes he is connected to the heroine...and instead of hiding it or keeping it a secret he just...tells her. No hesitation...lays it all on the table and they work through it. What? Lol...that was refreshing. The story itself is really cute too...I really enjoyed this as just a nice story. I'm not passionately in love with it...it's not a new favorite...but I definitely recommend this one if you are looking for a clean, sweet romance.
