Out of the The Final Yet more scary and often funny tales from the Royal Air Force and Friends Foreword by Air Marshall Cliff Spink CB CBE FCMI FRAeS RAF Ret'd
Now approaching my 90th Birthday I have very happy memories of my time in the RAF (34 years). This book triggered some of these but being a Shackleton Signaller, then an AEO on Valiants and Vulcans, I found it a little disappointing that it was so 'Pilot' and 'fast jet' oriented. I especially enjoyed the poems. Overall this is a good read and of especial interest to those who have a passion for aviation.
then this (and its 2 predecessors) need to be in your collection.
Mostly witty, sometimes exciting and occasionally sobering, these are salutary tales from brave and lucky (and fallibly human) pilots and support crew from the last 80 years.
Have read all three books in this series, fantastic collection of stories from a wide era of RAF flying. Encompasses a wide range of perspectives, not just the “hot seat” and as a pilot, I found these the most interesting. Highly recommended...
