By the time she entered kindergarten Ashley Romano was already binging on food and struggling with feeling unworthy and unlovable. Growing up, she played the part of a happy-go-lucky teenager while regularly and shamefully harming herself in private. As an adult, still struggling with self worth and mental health issues, she eventually found herself 300 pounds, homeless and working in the sex industry. This is the story of how a seemingly unrelated decision to lose weight and get physically healthy became the catalyst for a total life transformation. Until Recently provides an intimate and detailed look at Ashley’s journey from an existence overwhelmed with hopelessness, guilt, shame and depression to living a life bursting with gratitude, forgiveness and self-love.
I’ve known Ashley through social media and even had my hair styled by her once so i thought sure I know her, I’ve read her blogs, seen her photos, I’ll buy and read this just to continue to show my support. Boy, was I surprised to find I was wrong. I always knew she had a light that shone from her soul that was only confirmed when I met her in person, but to read this and learn that light was not always there actually broke my heart a little bit because I can’t imagine her any other way. The respect and admiration I have for her is now multiplied and I honestly can’t wait to read her next memoir. Congrats Ashley this is truly a masterpiece. Well written, well thought out and I’m grateful for you sharing your story.
