As a backer of this book on Kickstarter, thus someone who cared about its publication, I have these to say: -The writing is competent but there is nothing exceptional about it, leaving it as a forgettable middle of the road body of text your average reader will have nothing to remember for. -The setting lacks lore, thus it’s nothing more than a generic Dark Age kingdom. There is hardly any geography, scale, history, or even named areas. -The characters lack depth, becoming one-note caricatures. There is nothing special about the king or the seer, and I sure as heck don’t remember a thing about the hundreds of nameless soldiers who died, despite being constantly called “good people”. -The plot is slow and mostly consists of hollow dialogue and uninteresting action, becoming hard to turn the page. It took me 6 months to finish it. -There is hardly any tension. Even the most violent and emotional scenes come off as dull because of the mediocre style of writing. There is even a cliffhanger at the very end, and it reads like the most casual thing ever. -As a whole, it lacks everything that would make it worthwhile.
