Caitlyn has always been able to deliver a great book but with this one, she has exceeded even more in bringing her readers a great story. The book deals with gangs, bullies and how growing up with this affects a person's life. Hunter always protected Aliana and when he comes back expecting to find a shy, timid girl like he remembered, he finds a beautiful woman, who while having a backbone, is also still haunted by her past. Can Hunter and his SEal buddies keep Aliana safe when a gang puts a price on her head? And will Hunter be able to work this his own issues? This book made me mad, made me cry and made me happy!! I HIGHLY recommend this book!!

One of the books you forget before you even finish it.

Too much drama and heroism for a believable story.

What more, I haven't liked either a heroine or a hero. Hunter Diaz was... I don't know. He didn't make me sigh etc. And what is the point of reading this book if the story and the hero were... meh?

If it is still for free on Amazon and you are wide open for modern romances you can give it a try. Otherwise, leave it.

Aliana spent her childhood being bullied. Her differences, such as her Czech accent, made her a target for years. It was bad, and though the sudden protector she acquired in older boy, Hunter, made it a little better, it didn't end it completely. Then, after the death of her father, Aliana pushed Hunter away, causing both to lose their best friend. Hunter tried to figure out what happened, but it didn't work he lost Aliens. Thirteen years later, Aliana is once again being hurt, but now, this Vice Principal is defending a student against the local gang.

Hunter escaped a bad childhood and was taken in by a neighbor who adopted him. As he got older, he knew he had to leave his hometown, because if he didn't get away from the gang life he'd became a part of, he'd either die or be in jail. His mentor helped, pointing Hunter in the right direction, and that led to him becoming a SEAL. After a tragic mission, Hunter and his Black Dawn team were having a rough time, but Hunter was impacted deeply because of what they saw, and his boss knew it.

Aliana has been attacked, almost blown up, and her mom threatened. But she's not talking, knowing if she does, her mom, suffering from Alzheimer's, will become the gang's next target.

When Hunter receives a call from his adopted grandmother, and he learns Aliana, the best friend he's never forgotten, is in danger, he doesn't hesitate to rush to her side. Not only will he protect her, but he also vows to find out why she pushed him away.

They've both spent the years apart mourning their friendship, though Aliana believed she was saving Hunter. Hunter is shocked to see the shy girl he once knew has become a beautiful, confident woman, but she still won't tell him what happened, then or now.

As the truth unfolds about Aliana's current situation, Hunter works toward ending the danger to her, helping her save her student, and wondering if he and Aliana will have the chance to not only renew the strong friendship they once had, but also explore the change in it brought upon by the intense chemistry now between them.

What happens when Aliana and her family are safe? Will her student be able to have the life he wants, or the one forced on him? Will Aliana ever tell Hunter why she pushed him away? How will Hunter react to the news? Will they restore their friendship? Or start a differe t type of relationship? How will they adjust with the demands of their jobs? Is a HEA possible?

One-click now and follow along as two people, bound together before as best friends, realize they're meant to be so much more once reunited. This book deals with a very sad, and unfortunately real, fact of life...bullying. My heart broke for Aliana and all she went through, and applauded Hunter for striving to protect her, even as a child himself. The author did a wonderful job of putting this reality into words. The victims of bullies, in my opinion, are some of the strongest people you'll ever meet for enduring what they are, have, or will, as are those who fight for them. The bullies are the weak ones for believing it's okay to treats others as less than, for any reason.

Her Passionate Hero Black Dawn Book 3
by Caitlyn O'Leary
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Seriously, I cannot stress this enough I am a huge fan of Caitlyn O'Leary books. This book Her Passionate Hero is book number 3 in the Black Dawn series, it pretty much clinches it for me, everyone of her books I absolutely adore and enjoy reading. I know of one person who will be reading whatever she publish going forward. I promise if you enjoy military romance like I do than you will feel as I do, Caitlyn O'Leary is a romantic genius! This book is Hunter and Aliana story. I don't know too many authors who can keep me on edge with a character who dealing with the things that Aliana character is dealing with and make me laugh at the antics that main characters get into. Aliana internal dialogue is witty, sassy she has lots of confident when she is in her Vice principal role. Her interactions with her friends is very entertaining. Aliana Novak is fabulous plus this character is incredible and she rocks in this book. At first glance it may not seem she is a proud, strong and lovable. This is what I enjoy about Caitlyn O'Leary, she writes about women you will enjoy reading about oand ones that you can easily look up to, you may even want to emulate these women. I always enjoy the fact she doesn't make Aliana's character perfect by any means, because who would enjoy reading about someone who is perfect. Sometimes she could be a little weak and I think she is kind of stubborn but everyone has their flaws. Aliana is described as beautiful, curvy, and strong,I think she is all of those things plus she is vulnerable inside. Sometimes she trys to protect herself from being vulnerable so she lashes out. I really enjoyed Aliana. Now Hunter Diaz Wow I absolutely enjoy a gorgeous, sexy, man who wants to be your shining knight. Hunter is quiet, and endearing? I can imagine him talking to Aliana in his gruff, normally ok low, voice. My ovaries may have exploded a time or two when he said things to her. When Aliana does finally confront Hunter, it's so real, it made all that waiting worth it. Oh my, if this book isn’t proof that anticipation makes everything worthwhile I don’t know what could. Not only did Hunter and Aliana chemistry make the pages burst into flames, their scenes are blazing hot. Every time he took Aliana in his arms I could have swooned, of course by now I have hearts in my eyes. You know what else I enjoy that Caitlyn O'Leary does well? The East LA atmosphere where the characters live. I enjoy that she makes East LA just comes to life and explodes right off the page, It makes you want to go visit the place. I have to shout out to the secondary characters goodness gracious, they made the story flow just right. This book is absolutely perfect, I hope I have I given you enough about this book , to make you want read it do you think? If you’re not convinced yet, I can add a lot more about how I really really really really enjoyed reading it and this is one book that I want everyone to read. I really have enjoy talking and laughing about it. I want to thank Caitlyn O'Leary via Booksprout for providing this entertaining book. I highly recommend this series it's a great read.

If you read this without shedding tear, uttering a mouthful of profanity or laughing like a loon occasionally then you must be dead! A fiery mix of unrecognised love, inner strength, resilience Aliana always felt she was not good enough, an outsider. The only person who made her whole was Hunter. But she decided that she wasn't good enough for him and slipped out of his life.

Now older but no less self effacing and with a self esteem in the minus, she at least now has coping mechanisms and she ours her heart into the kids in her school. but Aliana has put a great big target on her back and she may just have taken on the local gang leader!

Hunter hates that he lost Aliana when he went into the Navy but hen he gets word from his grandma that she is in trouble, he has no intention of letting her say No to him this time. He may be a big badass SEAL but he had a tender heart and has seen more of the depravity of mankind that is good for him. He escaped the gang life once and has no intention of letting it suck in more of his life. Aliana is older, but still his Aliana.

He may not know all that has befallen her since they were parted but Hunter knows Aliana has some serious ghosts. But then he has some of his own.

OMG this book is full of the feels! There are some triggers in this book that may be uncomfortable for some: bullying, attempted sexual assault, gang-related violence but all are handled with care and great love. The characters are full of life and challenges and of course that little nugget of "something" that makes you love them! Aliana is strength personified even when she cannot see it herself. Hunter may be all Alpha male but he has wonderful way of dealing with Aliana.

The background characters are all fabulously quirky. Mamie and Mrs J are forces of nature. We all get to check in with the "Dawners" and meet Zed - there is a man full of mystery! It would not be a Caitlyn O'Leary book if there was not a seam of humour throughout. Whilst the story has dark elements, the characters have a way of taking the darkness and turning light upon. Won't say much accept to say "Bookclub"! OMG I snorted so much with that bunch of little old ladies!

Spectacular absolutely Wonderful.

I love this series it leaves me wanting more every time. This book was probably one of my top three favorites from this author. I loved these characters. Hunter left his neighborhood along time ago to be a Seal. When his grandma calls him home his drives straight their. To say Ally is having a rough week would be a big understatement. First she's attack outside her home and her mother is threatened. Then someone blows her house up, then just as she ready to leave the hospital who walks in. None other than Hunter her protector and savoir in their youth. She ran him away years ago but this time Hunter isn't going anywhere. Can Hunter break down Ally's walls? Can they figure out who wants Ally dead? Can Ally let Hunter in and let him sees all the ugly she thinks she has? I screamed, I cried, and I laughed all through this book. I'm so proud of this author she did this book justice. I highly recommended this series you won't regret it.

Author Caitlyn O’Leary has a way of dragging you into her stories! Her style of writing makes it as if you are surrounded by the story and the characters in such a way that you just cannot put it down. Her characters have depth and such intensity, that it feels as if you are right there with them.
Her Passionate Hero, covers an area in which many do not dare to go, much less dwell there in. This story pulls at your heartstrings as you cheer for the underdogs and cry for the bullied.
Aliana Novak and Hunter Diaz, come from many the same place, but at the same time are so very different. They both grow into their own strengths, but at a cost to their very souls. Grab your copy and discover the stories of their lives as Savior and Saved. And who saves who!

Aliana & Hunter have known each other since she moved to his town & went to his school at a very young age.. then after her father passed away, she becomes shut in & tells him to leave, that he is no longer held responsible for her... so off he goes into the Navy until years later with the VP, Ms. Aliana Novak, starts getting targeted by a local gang all because she is trying to help kids better themselves, but most importantly, helping a kid who is the son of the local gang's top guy.. now Hunter has to do everything in his power to protect her, all while figuring out how they feel about each other now, even though their friendship love has turned into something much deeper.. loved the book, characters, everything.. keep up the awesome work!!

As always when you read an advance reading book you have to prepare yourself to the unknown, but what make Caitlyn’s books special is that whatever she writes she can keep you stuck to the book till the end no matter what you are doing or what time is it late night early morning. Hunter and Aliana are a real example of endurance, and destiny, those endless up and downs, and the brotherhood protection all around them is for sure the best tingling note in the surrounding, that accompanies you throughout the intense adventure this book is made of, and it’s the real “the only easy day was yesterday” kind, prepare yourself for crying, gaping, and laughing because never a book was better wired for that to happen.... Enjoy Caitlyn’s world..

This book was kind of personal for me. Although my experiences were only verbal, I could have used my own Hunter to help me through school and the bullying I endured. Bullying is terrible. It played with my self worth and esteem similar to what happened with Alaina. When Hunter left her, so did her life jacket. Then her dad just added insult to injury.

I really think Hunter needed to grow and mature before he could be what Ali really needed him to be. Now that he is a SEAL, he is more than ready to save her from a gang and herself.

Aliana Novak finds Her Passionate Hero in Hunter Diaz in grade school when she was being bullied because she was different. Her returns years later as a Navy SEAL to help her with a gang attack and threats as she works to help students at the high school in East L.A. where she is vice-principle.

The plot is filled with many issues about teens being pulled into gangs, how adults can influence and change their lives plus it is an excellent romance too. I enjoyed the story and look forward to more books by Caitlyn O'Leary. Warning the book contains violent scenes.

I really enjoyed this book. It hit on a lot of the problems that you hear about in the world today. Bullying and gangs.
The book held my interest and is a pretty quick read. Aliana had dealt with a father who thought she was the reason he had life so rough, classmates calling her fat and bulling her. Through all this she could count on Hunter. But she turned him away 13 years ago.

Now she is dealing with more issues and he comes to the rescue. It really is a good book that holds your interest. I would recommend it.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

If you are craving a respectable, caring, protective, drool-worthy, dreamy hero who falls for a strong, compassionate heroine, and enjoy a romantic suspense that keeps you hyper aware and anxious to find out what happens next, than look no further, Her Passionate Hero is the BOOK FOR YOU!

I can't tell you how much I LOVE...LOVE...LOOOOOOOOVED Hunter! He made my heart melt, sigh, and worship the ground he walks on by his words, his determination to keep Aliana safe and cherished, and the way he took charge of such a scary and dangerous situation Aliana found herself in. And Aliana, I SO can relate to her and her insecurities and with the way she had to deal with bullies in her past, it definitely brought back memories of dealing with my own types of bullies in school. It made it...realistic and I dig that! Every time, I think you can't get a better book, Caitlyn O'Leary proves me wrong. EVERY. TIME. But this book signifies why I can't seem to stop reading her books. Her amazing way of telling a story is fantastic. You can tell there is plenty of research done and the situations seem realistic..like dealing with gang and gang members, dealings with bullies is another and especially when Aliana had to deal with her self image. Her Passionate Hero just felt profound and INCREDIBLE!

Her Passionate Hero gets a BEYOND AMAZING FIVE SHOOTING STARS!

Her Passionate Hero wrung me out, but made me believe in white knights. Alaina Novak had a horrible time in school. She was the target of horrible bullying. She had an older boy named Hunter Diaz come to her rescue. He became a buffer between her and her tormentors. But he was older, and when he left to join the Navy, Alaina sent him away and made him think she didn’t want to be friends anymore, even though Alaina was still suffering, on two fronts. Hunter becomes a Navy SEAL serving his country. Alaina finishes school, graduates from college and becomes Vice Principal of an inner city High school plagued by gangs. Alaina runs into trouble in Trying to help the brother of one of the gang members. Enter Hunter. His grandmother calls him home to help Alaina. Alaina is secretly happy to see him, but is still struggling with some demons, and try’s to push him away. Hunter calls on some of his SEAL brothers. What follows is good trying to triumph over evil. This book will restore your faith. Will you believe in White Knights?

Military heroes who have that alpha, protective instinct always find a way into my heart. Hunter and Alia both had difficult, troubled childhoods, but when they find each other again, neither of them recognize the adult in them, no longer the children they once were. This book was full of suspense and action, as well as more trouble at every turn. And still, Hunter and Alia manage to rediscover each other. The book kept me on the edge of my seat!

There is nothing funny about bullying as this author shows through many years and hurtful people one women is still fighting the bullies in her school but now she is fighting them for the students she watches over as vice principal. Aliana has gotten in over her head when her ex students step up the game putting her life in danger because she is trying to help others overcome their past and get out of the gangs. Some could really have a wonderful life and do something with it, being able to help others with what they have learned with the money they could be making. This is a very emotional, compassionated, heartfelt read from the here and now dealing with bullies and the past where one love that got away. This is a powerful outstanding story of second chances for more than one couple but students that have so much potential. Can these kids get out and make something of their selves and can one man and one woman who have always meant everything to each other overcome the pain, face the past and find the love that they always shared without anyone getting killed?

I loved the danger, the near death and the outcome of helping children make a better life. The author really pulls you in holding you on the edge with your heart in your throat as one group threatens Aliana in ways that will make you yell and want to grab her out of the pages. That is until one hero from the past comes and deals with them keeping you on your toes as he takes over putting a plan into action stealing not only Aliana heart but your own.

There are so many wonderful parts from the seal brothers coming together putting some gang members in their place to the laughter of the little old women who steal your hearts. They are something else. Yes this is a serious book but Hunter has a way about him that makes you smile as he does his best to keep Aliana, her mother and grandmother safe while spreading the smiles, laughs and joy. The teasing between the seal brothers is so natural you can’t help but chuckle. When the little old ladies do their best to help you have to laugh as you roll your eyes just like Hunters does. The grandmothers are something else as they do their best to do a little match making. This is a wonderful story showing how love can conquer bring so many people together for one common goal. The name fits this book to a T there is so much passion, love and hero’s that will bring a tear to your eye, a smile to your face and make you laugh out loud.

The characters are great even the gang members your heart goes out to a few so many people who need so much but only a few can be helped. Aliana is a strong, capable woman who doesn’t like to ask for help. She sees herself totally different than those around her. I loved how Hunter shows her just how truly beautiful she is inside and out. Hunter is just an amazing man who is strong but for the right person he isn’t afraid to show his pain, his love is raw you have no trouble feeling every emotion he feels. There is one boy I just wanted to grab and hold I was just so proud of him and all he does. Out of everyone I think he was my hero, I would have loved to have watch him become a man. Aliana friend is a trip an a half, a very bold woman I just adored. I loved how the author shows each characters true self, the wit, their pain and their love. Ms. O'Leary knows how to draw her readers in showing that people are not perfect but at the same time making the perfect in so many ways. The passion is strong I really liked how there was sexual tension with some very powerful love scenes. When they finally come together it is mind blowing. From the first page until the last the author held me in the palm of her hand. I enjoyed the twists and turns, excitement, danger never knowing what will happen next. At times I didn’t know how it was going to turn out my heart was in my throat. I found myself yelling, talking to the characters as well as saying you go girl. I had no trouble at all feeling Aliana pain from the past to the future as well as Hunters pain of the not knowing, confusion and heart break. It was an outstanding read from start to finish. I couldn’t put it down and plan to read it along with the rest of this series. It is truly one outstanding read from an author who knows how to writing giving you a touching, exciting, thrilling, and delightful read you are going to love.

Fantastic!

A story that touches the heart right from the beginning. He didn’t know it, but Hunter was born a hero. He may have thought he was messed up as a child, but his young life experiences made him the wonderful man he is today. Aliana is a woman who has fought to just be herself for as long as she can remember. If anyone needed a hero, Aliana is that person.

This story touches on several unpleasant topics. Bullying and gangs are a fact of life. I love how the author dealt with these sensitive issues while creating a beautiful and exciting story.

Hunter grew up where gangs are the normal way of life. He becomes someone he doesn’t want to be and does what is necessary to remove himself from that way of life by joining the Navy. Becoming a Navy SEAL, it his proudest moment and his new way of life. He spent his youth being the best friend to Aliana and protecting her whenever he could. Aliana was different. She was from a different country, spoke different languages, has an accent, was beautiful even as a young girl. Because of theses differences, several classmates felt the need to pick on her and were very cruel in their methods. Hunter fixes those kinds of things. He became her protector when he found out what was happening.

This story has many elements going on that make up the intricate background of Aliana. She experiences many things and fights her way up to become the professional that she is today. Her position at the school is her way to help kids make better choices and have a bright future. Because of her determination to help a certain boy, Aliana finds herself a target of the local gang.

I love Aliana’s sense of family and dedication to her students. A fast-paced read, many twists and turns that keep the reader glued to this story. I couldn’t put it down. The turn of events made me fear for both Aliana and Hunter, but the developing attraction and relationship between these two made the story even more interesting and satisfying. I loved the humor of the neighborhood watch ladies and the book group. This story is fantastic in it’s many layers. I loved it! Excellent job!

2 stars because I at least finished the book, though there were some moments that I almost quit. I got the book for free on Amazon at some point, so my only regret is wasting my time on a book that wasn't good. I haven't read any books by this author before. I definitely don't recommend anybody pay the $4.99 price that it's on Amazon for right now, you'll just be mad at yourself for paying that in the end!
The heroine, Aliana, was just too whiney and came across as a huge doormat. She just wasn't heroine material. Hunter was just bleh. He really didn't get to a point that I thought of him as a hero or drool worthy. I don't feel that either of these characters were strong enough to be main characters & support their own story. I almost wonder if they (or him anyway) were secondary characters in another book. The chemistry between the 2 was not great, didn't even register as more than friends for the most part. The end had a sex scene (the only one in the book if you don't count the 2 gang-bangers getting a blow job near the end), but by that point, I didn't care & skimmed thru it so can't comment if it was steamy or not. The world building was ok, I think it could have been better. I'm not a huge fan of continuous flash-backs used for info dumps instead of building the background with just one or two flashbacks for pivotal key points. The plot was a bit unbelievable, too many things happened that didn't make sense or were just unbelievable. It did flow decently, though. There was a lot of loose ends left in the story that just felt wrong or pissed me off. There were also a few things that were done in the plot that shouldn't have been (killing off the nice/good cop & just dropping it, like an oh well, too bad moment, really pissed me off). I also have to say, for supposedly bad-@ss Seals, the guys didn't seem all so bad-@ss to me, more like a bunch of gossiping old ladies half the time. Not sure if I want to read anymore from this author.

This is the second book I have read in this series, and loved it just as much as book 2.
This time the story centers around Navy SEAL Hunter Diaz, and Aliana Novak. They were best friends in their youth. He was her protector from the bullies she encountered in school and she was the girl with the “funny accent and dresses”. He loved her with all his heart. He leaves the LA gang with a broken heart when Aliana sends him away. She was fighting her own demons but never forgot him. He becomes a Navy SEAL and he too never forgot her.
Now a vice principal of a HS, Aliana has blossomed but has also acquired enemies within one of the local gangs. When Hunter gets a call from his grandmother telling him Aliana needs him , Hunter comes back to help her and hopes to find out why she sent him away.
It’s a story with an engaging main plot, as well as the sub-plots. The main characters are complex and the secondary characters well developed. It’s filled with suspense and bad guys, but also with honorable men, humor and a group of seniors that will make you chuckle.
In addition to a story that will keep you reading into the night, it’s a story about overcoming obstacles. The author reminds us that the gangs do exist and those individuals in them are not always free to leave that life. That our childhood and what our parents say to us, will affect us through all our lives but also that love does conquer all.
I have to add that I truly appreciate the fact that the author gave us people with imperfections, a world that is different shades of gray and that family, isn’t always that we are born into. Last but not least, we frequently read stories about Navy SEALs that are all about the sex, their prowess etc. Ms O’Leary makes them real and with a heart. Thank you.
I was gifted this copy. The opinions are solely my own.

Her Passionate Hero is a powerful story that brings together a terrified young woman, and her most unlikely knight in shining armour. Aliana is constantly tormented and abused for her appearance and her roots, enduring anguish and fear at the hands of her peers. But for a short time she cherished the devotion of her unexpected knight who willingly lived to serve and protect, so she began to hope that everything would somehow be all right. But Hunter knew his time with Aliana was limited, as boy immersed in the life of the gangs, he was set on a path, and to waiver would mean his ultimate demise. Yet during the time he spent as her guardian angel, a bond was formed that could never be broken; but dreams don’t last, and reality is cruel and unending.

Caitlyn O’Leary has never been an author to shun the hard stuff; she’s more incline to drag it kicking and screaming into the light. So it’s not surprising that Her Passionate Hero will deeply impact anyone who has suffered the consequences of being different, bullied, and subjected to self-doubt.

Aliana’s suffering will make your heart swell for the precious innocence of youth that was ripped away by hurtful, vile people, and a love that was shattered by the one person who should have loved her unconditionally. I was moved to tears many times during this story, but marvelled at the resilience and determination of this remarkable woman and the man who became a Navy SEAL, saw her strength, and never gave up hope of their future together.

If you haven’t read Caitlyn O’Leary’s books, you are missing stories of true-life situations and the passion she pours into each and every word. So get reading, cause every book will live on in your heart long after the last page is turned.

Alaina had never had it easy being a immigrant and trying to make it in school and in life. From her dad committing suicide in front of her and her mom being in the home the only brightness in her life was Hunter.

Hunter protected Alisna while in school against the bullies and the torments she faced. When Hunter joined the military to better herself she did the only thing she thought was Right was to push him away. Although, both of them failed to realize they were each other’s saving grace.

As the Vice Principal In one of the worst and the toughest schools in East LA, she knew she could make a difference as she use to be one of those kids struggling to make something of themselves. It wasn’t until she was in the fight of her life with one of the violent gangs in East Los Angeles.

After being attacked once, and her home blowing up did Alana realize she was in over her head. Luckily, Hunter Mamie made the call to Hunter to come home and protect his heart love.

When Hunter takes leave and comes to help Alaina he is stunned about where he sees. A strong beautiful woman with ice around her heart. Hunter never forgot about her and. Either did his Seal brother’s.

Once Hunter figures out what needs to be done, he calls in reinforcements and connects with his past he tried to forget. He knew he did the right thing in leaving, but could never forget why Alaina pushed him away until one night she told him why.

Can they save Alaina in time? Help the community struggling with violence. Change hearts that were broken. Will Hunter still be Alaina saving grace.

Her Passionate Hero by Caitlyn O'Leary breaks all the rules of a good romance. This is not a fluff book it tackles a number if hard subjects that many may find hard to read. Caitlyn O'Leary writes about school bullying, gang intimidation, threats to family and physical violence and counters them with one of the best HEA passionate love stories ever. I love second chance love stories and Aliana and Hunter with their history make a perfect pair. Hunter is one of the most loyal, protective, gorgeous alpha males ever. The minute he hears that his oldest friend Aliana is in trouble he immediately asks for leave to rush to her side. The fact that they parted in a bad way means nothing to him. He is totally unprepared for the gorgeous woman Aliana has become. Aliana is a heroine who does not see herself as having much worth and has no time for romance in her life. She survived the school bullies who made her life miserable but still hears their voices in her head. When Hunter returns and wants to help her she does not feel worthy. Their chemistry is off the charts and you will cry and laugh your way through this book. Character development is fundamental to a great story and this book oozes with great characters.Even the secondary characters are ones you care about and want to here more about but they never detract from Hunter and Aliana. This book so far exceeds five stars...it is a must read.

Aliana Novak spent most of her school years being bullied until Hunter Diaz saved her from her tormentors. But Hunter was a few years older and when he graduated the bullying started up again had escalated. Now she is the Vice Principal of one of the toughest high schools in East L.A. When a local gang threatens and attacks her and then blows up her townhouse an old friend comes to the rescue. Hunter Diaz, former gang member now Navy SEAL hasn't seen Alia, in thirteen years so when his grandmother calls he rushes home thinking he will find the same young girl he left but instead is blown away by the woman she has become. With The Help Of Some Of His Navy SEAL teammates and an Old Friend Hunter is determined to Keep the Woman he cares so much about safe.
Hunter and Aliana, Wow! Alia is a strong Woman That Has Been through Too Much and Is Also Caring For Her Mother Who Has Alzheimer's. Her back story broke my heart, I could definitely relate to her being bullied myself in high school. She has a nononess best friend Lotty who happens to be the school psychologist and a Dr of psychology. Hunter is a badass Navy SEAL who wants to protect the women in his life.
The story grabs onto you from the first page and doesn't ease up until you read the end. Caitlyn O'Leary doesn't disappoint can't wait for the next book in the series!

This was the third instalment of the series and to be honest, I was disappointed ….. at least a bit.

I thought that the series would gradually build up and fill out. More specifically, I was hoping that the instalments would be maturing as I read the series. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. I admit that the author tried to create the depth I somehow missed in the previous two instalments, however, according to my opinion very unsuccessfully. I felt that the plot remained linear and predictable, whereas the heroine was loaded chapter by chapter  with more “baggage”. Fair enough – as long as the storyline moves along and has the potential to accommodate this piling up.  During my reading I missed  this smooth transition, meaning that as the plot moves along, the main characters evolve with it.  Instead I had the feeling that major issues like racism, bullying etc. were thrown at me but weren’t adequately elaborated or processed in the plot. They just  remained  slogans  that were thrown at me to create emotion but in the continuation remained undeveloped. Needless to say that his let the female lead character appear to be very naïve. So much so that I just couldn’t build any rapport with her.

Maybe above sounds a bit unfair and harsh. Of course it’s always much more difficult to deliver and much more easy to criticize…. In any case, I hope that whoever comes across my review will appreciate my honest opinion of this book.
