The New York Times bestselling author of the “swoonworthy and addicting” (Kim Karr, New York Times bestselling author) Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club series is back with more bad boy bikers in this first novel in the Cursed Ravens Motorcycle Club series.Erin Dawson had the perfect life growing up in a perfect home with a perfect family. Armed with her original birth certificate, she finds her father, but begins questioning if her mom had been right all along to keep this information buried. It turns out he is the president of a motorcycle club, which could not be further from the life Erin leads. But, she’s determined to get to know the man who she gets her striking blue eyes from. Despite getting what she wants and finding her biological father, it’s the slightly older, much rougher but incredibly sexy biker Ace that catches Erin’s eye. Will Ace follow his President’s orders or will he put his heart ahead of his duty? A sizzling tale of family and passion, Ace of Hearts features Fernando’s signature “snark and sass” (Booklist) and is perfect for fans of Kristin Ashley.
Ace of Hearts is Chantal Fernando's first installment of her new series, The Cursed Ravens. The story brings her fans back to the MC world with this new club and follows Erin Dawson, the unknown princess of the MC.
I really liked Erin's character and thought that she was portrayed very realistically. She had a back bone and didn't back down from a fight, which I loved, but we still got to see those moments where she was unsure and hesitant to make waves while at the MC. I really liked that she was tough yet not in a unapproachable way.
Ace definitely took a backseat in this book but I still liked what we were able to learn about him. Even though he didn't get as much page time as Erin did I still felt like I knew him pretty well so I didn't mind that we didn't get a full backstory on him. He wasn't your typical biker manwhore and we actually got to see a lot of sweet times with him that made me love him. I liked the sexual tension he brought to the story when he was fighting the attraction to Erin and thought it added an extra dose of intrigue.
I love Ms. Fernando's MC books and this one is no different. I can't wait to see more from this MC and I'm already dying for a few characters to find their HEA. And as just a little tease to anyone that's a fan of the Wind Dragon MC series there was a character from it that popped up in this book that I think everyone will love.

I’m torn between a 2 and a 3 star rating for Ace of Hearts. For starters this is a biker/MC romance so going in you gotta know it’s not all glitter and roses. Our MCs are Ace, a member of the Cursed Ravens and Erin, the newly revealed daughter of the club President, Gage.
Erin has just found out that her mother lied to her and the man she grew up calling dad, isn’t actually her dad, but her stepfather. Her real dad is president of a motorcycle club and Erin takes off to meet him face to face. Told via Erin’s sole POV, the story follows a girl outside the MC lifestyle and how she adapts to her father’s life and family. And of course, how she falls for a bad boy. This was actually pretty decent considering the subject matter.
I liked that Ace wasn’t your typical arrogant jerk, yes he was prone to smirking and leaving things open to interpretation to rile the heroine but overall he was a rough around the edges nice guy. He wasn’t an a**hole just because and since meeting Erin and becoming interested in her, he doesn’t look at another woman.
The few other members we get to meet (Knuckles and Rogue) were definitely interesting and I’m a sucker for tough guys who love to play the big brother card and these two were pretty awesome in accepting and coming to genuinely care for Erin, it was sweet.
Gage, Erin’s estranged father and leader of the MC was such a contradiction. He’s this respected and powerful guy, but when he learns about Erin, I loved that he immediately accepted her and welcomed her into his home. Granted he has zero ideas on what being a parent (to a grown woman) is and so he does put his foot in it a few times, but he does it in his own twisted ways, with her best interest at heart.
That being said, there were a few things that didn’t really jive well. The more I read, the more it left me wondering what tone the author was going for. She does a lot of back and forth with the main characters regarding their personality traits. We’re told these bikers are tough and ruthless but we never see them act that way, they’re either talking like immature frat boys or being overly sweet and affectionate. Then there’s Erin, she’s ditzy, sarcastic, smart but naïve, trusting, suspicious, paranoid, aggressive, dominant, and fragile – all rolled into one confusing package. I just didn’t really connect with her. It was like she was a bit of everything but never really shaped up to be her own person.
This also had the typical MC drama. It wasn’t completely safe but it also wasn’t OTT with the unsafe aspects as most biker/MC books are, which I am grateful for.
Would I recommend? I would consider this one safe with exceptions. So if you're looking to venture into the biker/MC romance genre, this one would be a good one to dip your toe into to test the waters. It was pretty light, not too gritty and the characters aren't too dark.

3.5 ✦Ace in the hole, Ace up my sleeve, Ace… Ace… Ace✦ Stars!!
After twenty-one years, Erin finds out that a huge part of her life is a lie - her biological father isn’t the man who raised her. Determined to find out more about the man who gave her life, she visits his home, which happens to be the clubhouse of The Cursed Ravens. This sweet country girl was in over her head with these rough bikers, but luckily, these men took to her instantly. She and her father fell instantly in love and he wasn’t the only one laying claim to her heart. Ace was the hottest man she had ever seen and their connection was irresistible. Too bad they were off-limits * wink* Breaking the rules never felt so good!
I’ve never read anything by Chantal Fernando before, although her work resides on my TBR. I was so happy to see that she had a new series coming out and that I could get in from the beginning. I found this story to be really sweet, despite the drama and the bit of suspense that was thrown in. I would have liked to have gotten Ace’s perspective because there were many instances that I felt required his thoughts in order to give a clear idea of his motives, but I heavily appreciated Erin’s voice. She was spunky, easy going, and kind hearted, which showed in every part of this story. If this is what I can expect from this author’s writing, then I’ll definitely be reading more!

4.5 stars. I really, really liked this book. I've been in a reading slump and this was a book that I'd never heard of, but stumbled upon on Edelweiss, and I decided to download it and give it a shot. I'm glad I did. It was fresh and untouched in terms of expectations, and I really enjoyed it. Just what I needed, in the midst of a reading slump.

What I Liked:
This was an impulse read for me. I'd not heard of the book. I'd not heard of the author. But I stumbled upon this book on Edelweiss, and it sounded interesting, so I thought about giving it a chance. I've been in a massive reading slump for weeks, and the thought of just reading felt like too much. I am so behind in my review copies TBR, and I haven't had the zeal to read anything familiar. This book was totally unfamiliar and I've seen absolutely no early feedback for it (within my blogging circles), so I had no expectations for the book. I am so glad that I decided to give it a chance, because it was fresh and untouched and very good. I'd not heard of Chantal Fernando before, but I can see what critics are talking about, when they refer to her signature snark and sass, and great storytelling.
This is the first book in a new motorcycle club (MC) romance novel by Chantal Fernando. This author has written previous MC romances, but this series is new and separate. In this first novel, the heroine Erin has recently found out that her father isn't biological father - her biological father is a member of the Cursed Ravens motorcycle club. Erin decides to meet her father in person, and finds out that he is not only a member, but the president, and he had no idea she existed. Erin is welcomed with open arms, and she is labelled as the princess of the Cursed Ravens. She wants to develop a good relationship with her father... and maybe the sexy, brooding, intense man who didn't stop staring at her when she first came to the clubhouse. Erin has a lot to learn, and it isn't all fun and games. Is the new lifestyle worth it?
This book is written exclusively in Erin's POV, which was slightly disappointing at first (I love reading romance novels written in dual POV, with the hero and heroine's narratives). But I got over that quickly, because I simply loved reading from Erin's POV. She is sassy, tough, and bold. She says exactly what she means, and she doesn't play games. She goes after what she wants and doesn't let anyone sway her. There are times when she is vulnerable and unsure of herself, and I liked seeing this softer side of her. The tough, snarky side of her is so likable, too. She isn't rude and abrasive, but she does stand up for herself.
I adored Ace and so wish we could have gotten to read from his POV (though again, it was okay because I loved reading from Erin's). Ace comes across as the silent, brooding type. He is protective and alpha but not in an alphahole way. He is traditional is some ways, but very respectful and aware of Erin's boundaries. He doesn't push her, and he definitely doesn't want to go against her father's wishes (that no one touch her - she's off-limits). Ace is the blond-haired, grey-eyed sexy Viking that all the girls want, but he isn't an alphahole. He's a good guy with a lot of charm and broodiness.
I love the forbidden romance! Erin is supposed to be off-limits to all of the motorcycle club members, but she can't stop her attraction to Ace, and he can't stop his attraction to her. Their connection is undeniable, and they aren't the only ones that notice it. The tension builds as they risk more, and the chemistry gets steamier and steamier. Fernando does an excellent job of raising the tension and keeping the chemistry sizzling.
The chemistry is steamy and the romance is steamy but also very sweet. Ace and Erin are a cute couple who just click, and they get along very well. They are compatible in many ways, and it shows throughout the story. There is an age gap - Ace is twenty-eight, Erin is twenty-one - but they fit together regardless. Erin fights for her man and Ace fights for his girl, and this made me so happy.
I loved so many of the secondary characters! Gage (Erin's dad) is a complicated man, but you could see he was really trying to be a good dad to her. Knuckles is hilarious and adorable - a good friend to Erin, even if he is a big MC enforcer with two daughters. Rogue is probably my favorite (behind Ace), and I can't wait to read his book (book three, coming out in August). The MC members made this book even more worth reading - they're hilarious and also really good guys.
The conflict involves the forbidden romance, but also several attempts on Erin's life. Someone is trying to kill Erin, but how could it be a club member? There are several twists and turns to the ending. But the ending is a HEA for Ace and Erin. Things wrap up really well, which I wasn't quite expecting (Erin is doing one life path and Ace is doing another - but they end up compromising and it works out really nicely). I loved the ending. You all know how picky I am with happy endings!
What I Did Not Like:
Nothing specific! Perhaps more steamy scenes (and not just the alluded ones)? You can never go wrong with more written-out steamy scenes!
Would I Recommend It:
If you like MC romances, this is definitely one to try. I was laughing at Erin's snark constantly, I was swooning over Ace, I was sighing and fanning myself over Ace and Erin's chemistry, I was dying to see what comes next after the climax rolled around. There is a tiny bit of angst, but it's the best angst possible, and I loved it. I usually hate angst, so you'll have to trust me on this. No love triangle, very little drama, and a little angst. It was a great story!
Rating:
4.5 stars. I actually came across this book when I found book two on Edelweiss, and I read the first sentence and immediately decided not to read book two (Knuckle Down). The hero has two daughters so I was like NOPE, I don't read romance novels with children involved. But having read this book, which had the hero of book two featured, and the heroine of book two, I might actually read Knuckle Down. I loved Knuckles in this book, and I am curious to see what kind of match he and Celina will be. So perhaps I will read it!
I really like this author, but I was disappointed. Predictable history that has the basic elements already known of the genre. It follows the same formula already known. Cute heroine, alpha male hero, dangerous situations involving our heroine, club whores causing drama and so on. An ok story and nothing new.

Loved this first book!!!
I loved this series. Chantal Fernando is a new author for me and I started with this first book of the series. I've read books with MC clubs before and I usually find them grittier and darker. I guess this could be considered MC-lite. I actually liked that it wasn't as dark and harsh as other biker books. It is a little bit refreshing in that regard, but it felt slightly like I was in biker Disneyland and it was just a little too perfect.
The story is told all through Erin's POV, but it isn't too hard to figure out what Ace is thinking, so I'm not at all upset it was only one POV. I did think that Erin was slightly a bit OTT bratty and mouthy especially since she was raised by her mom who is a straitlaced teacher and her stepdad who is also a teacher. I think the author wanted to point out that she had that rebellious nature from her real dad and she never really fit in with her conservative family and that she felt like she was different. But I think it was slightly hard for me to swallow that she would just walk into a biker home and really be that fearless. I did like Ace's character, though it is a little hard to really determine how he is since we are only moving through the story from Erin's eyes, but from the limited view we had I thought the author did a great job.
Between the slight lack of grittiness and realism of a biker story and Erin's slightly annoying character I took off one star for this, but it is the first book of the series and I plan on continuing to read the rest of the series. The price for the other books looks like it is about $5 so it's not too bad, though I'm hoping there will be a sale. At least it isn't $8 which is what each of the books in the Wind Dragons series is costing.
Ace of Hearts was the first book in Chantal Fernando’s newest series, the Cursed Ravens MC.
Erin Moretti was twenty and just found out that not only was she not raised by her biological father but he didn’t even know she existed. She set off for the Ravens MC clubhouse to find him. Ace was the treasurer of the MC. He was gorgeous, alpha and totally protective of those in his circle.
I liked the premise of the story. It wasn’t a new concept, but I loved the characters and the MC so it was a great way to set the foundation and introduce the key players for the series. It was written from a single POV, Erin’s. She was hilarious, feisty and sassy so it worked well. It also had a suspenseful vibe, which kept me interested. The conclusion was a little shallow, but enjoyable none the less.
In the end, it was a quick, light hearted and suspenseful read. I love the MC themes and it was perfect for my current mood. Next up is Knuckles and I can’t wait!
Sounded promising.......had some amusing moments.......thought it would be a solid entertaining read......but......I ended up hating Erin and her fucktard father.
She ended up being a bitch! And her father was a cheating piece of shit who treated women like shit except his entitled "princess". She was not a strong independent woman when she assaulted one of the club girls who had the audacity to speak rudely to her, shock horror, miss self entitlement. No, she used her power as the daughter of the MC president over this girl who had no power. Shame on her. So the girl mouthed of because she was jealous and threatened by this new girl coming and taking everyone's attention, so fucking what!!! Why not show compassion and understanding, that would've made her a great female character for a change. No need to be the bitch that breaks her nose and gets her booted out of somewhere she's been coming to for years. Oh yes, it's the men that drag her and her friend (who did nothing by the way) out of the club house. Lovely that, these assholes dragging young girls out who they'd happily been using - way not to use your father's position. Bottom line is her father wasn't forced to sleep with the girl, neither was the H, they partook freely in the past. Eye roll, hypocrite.
Her father deserved a good woman? I don't fucking think so, cheating asshole. He deserved a kick in the nuts. No woman power here, she was fine with turning a blind eye to how most of these men treated the women, including any that would cheat on their old ladies, stupid cow. I despise women like that.
Why not punch her boyfriend or her father. But no, of course the "women" aren't good enough for these 2 dickheads. Double standard sexist bullshit.
I actually haven't read this author for a long while because her doormat women and cheating whoreboys got on my nerves, but I gave this one a chance. She's off my read list again. Not sure this author can write a strong likeable good woman worth reading.
What would've been impressive is if she told her father off for being a cheater. And told off the men for treating women like meat. THAT would've been impressive. But she just became "one of the boys', in other words, not standing up for other women. This is not a woman to be proud of or hold in any esteem.
Safety wise, neither are with OP from the moment they meet.
Ace of Hearts was a book with lots of sexy moments, humor, and hot men...what else could you want in a book?!
The main character, Erin, was a snarky queen who never backed down from a fight. She was a woman who wasn't afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what she believed in. Even though she was a tough lady, she also had vulnerabilities. The author was great at showing that even the toughest people have moments when they are scared or unsure of what to do. It made Erin feel even more relatable and human. There were times when I wanted to smack Erin's head because she was being immature or didn't think things through, but it did always make her seem more realistic.
Ace was not what I was expecting from a leading man in MC book and I LOVED THAT. Ace wasn't the typical womanizer that most men are in MC books. Ace was actually very kind and thoughtful, which was showcased a lot in this book. He wasn't AS present in this book as Erin was, so there were times when I was hoping to learn a little bit more about him. I found myself really craving his perspective in some moments because there were times when I questioned his motivations and feelings. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will be prevalent in the other books in this series so we can learn even more about him.
The author is great at creating lovable characters with insane physical and emotional chemistry, which was exemplified in this book. The romance in this book was STEAMY y'all and I was so into it! There were tons of sexually charged moments that made me want to fan myself off! There were a few times when I wanted the book to focus a little more on plot development and not sexy time, but I still enjoyed all of the sexy time moments!
Overall, this was a fun and light book full of romance and humor! If you are a fan of motorcycle club romances, then I recommend checking this book out!
3.5 / 5 Fangs
*This ebook was given to me in exchange for an honest review. *
This is one of those authors that I will read anything and everything of. And when this new series was announced I was so freaking happy. Erin is sort of a wild child, she is one of those people that takes no prisoners and says exactly what's on her mind. Now she has found out that her father is actually her stepfather and her biological father is a biker. So what does she do, she goes to find him. No stress about walking into an MC Clubhouse and asking for her father. So maybe she should have thought about it a little bit. The moment her eyes catch on Ace though, she knew she was in trouble.
Loved it, from the start till the end. Erin I absolutely loved her character. She was sassy, and definitely could take care of herself. And in this clubhouse she would need it. As some people might not be so happy as others that she is there and she is the clubs princess now. I can't wait for more in this series. Knuckles I have your number dude, can't wait for your story next!
Ace of Hearts is the first book in the Cursed Ravens MC series. I have enjoyed this author's writing, and I was curious to see how much I would enjoy this book and I have to say that I LOVED it so much. I didn't realize that I was in a MC romance mood until I grabbed this up and I found it so engaging. This features both a wonderful love story and also some personal growth and reconnecting a father and daughter.
Erin Dawson, thought her life was just about perfect. She has a great family life, grew up in a loving home and just about to start college to become a nurse. But when she finds her "real" birth certificate with a name listed as her father....a man she doesn't know. And she realizes that her mother has lied to her all of her life and goes in search of her birth father. She doesn't know what she is going into when she walks into the Cursed Ravens MC....she has never been in a MC club. But when she walks in she realizes that she is in a whole different world but finds that even though she feels betrayed by her mother, She wants a real relationship with her father who is just as clueless and feeling betrayed as she since he never knew he had a daughter.
But as Erin and her father reconnect, she finds herself spending time with one of her father's top men....Ace. Ace who makes her feel things she has never felt before and even though he is a biker and a member of a MC...she sees the good heart he has and how loyal he is to her father. Even though she is about to start college, her heart doesn't seem to listen. But during this journey of Erin's, there is also a danger, because she is being poisoned and someone wants to kill her.
I truly had a blast with this book, it was so sweet and engaging and one of the lighter MC reads I have read. Which is probably a good thing since I wasn't in the mood for something rough and gritty to be honest. I really liked seeing the romance develop, and the connection between these two grow and of course the attempted murder plot was really interesting and not who I expected it to be in the end at least not fully anyway.
Meh. It's okay, just nothing special. I was slightly bored parts of the book. I really enjoyed the characters as a whole which is why is a solid 3 stars. Most likely not buying the rest of the series.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. Erin is 21 years old and just finds out that her life is a lie, well most of it anyway. The man she has known as her father isn't her father at all. And she is on the doorstep of the place where her dad lives and she is not sure she should be here. Not only is there a loud party going on but it is a motorcycle club to boot. So she walks right in like she belongs and demands to see Gage. When one of the bikers grabs her like she might be there to cause damage, she is taken to him. She can't believe what she sees, he is in a room with a naked woman asleep behind him. And he can't believe what she is telling him. Ace notices the innocent girl when she first walks in and wonders why she is here. When he finds out she is the club president's daughter, this princess is off limits. He is drawn to her and she isn't making it easy to stay away from her. Ace is tasked with keeping Erin safe and the more they spend together the closer they become. Until she overs a conversation between Gage and Ace that has her running back home. Will Erin learn the truth about the conversation and forgive Gage and Ace? Who at the club is trying to get rid of Erin and why? Can Erin and Ace make a future together? Will she forgive her parents for the lie they kept from her most of her life? This is a really good story that had me glued to my kindle and turning the pages to find out what happens next and I can't believe this is a first for me from this author but it will not be the last. I can't wait for more from this series.
The princess has arrived. This is the start of another great MC series by an author who knows how to incorporate humor, suspense, and lust into a book that you can’t put down. Erin is a person with a great sense of humor which will give you laugh out loud moments. Ace is a man that all the women want.
Erin bravely walks into the Cursed Ravens MC clubhouse and stuns them all by giving them their Prez’s full legal name and tells them that she needs to see him. All of a sudden the flirtatious air of the men surrounding her turns into something full of animosity and suspicions. She has come to introduce herself to a father that never knew she existed. It shocked her as well to know that the man who raised her was not her biological father and her birth father was a president of the Cursed Ravens MC.
I am excited for this new series because we are given characters that will touch your heart just like Ace, Erin and Gage have done in this book. Be ready for suspense and chemistry that we can only hope for.
I received this book as an ARC for a freely given and honest review.
Update: 6/13/18 Sooo apparently this was a RARE love from this author. Since finishing this book I attempted to read Maybe This Time and only got 80% because I was so over all the cheating and the irredeemable asshole lead - wrote a brief rant/review on this book. Also, attempted to read Dragon's Lair and gave up before 50% after dealing with another asshole lead that treated the heroine like shit and looked to be leading down the same cheating path as the last. Upon reading some reviews from this author, I discovered that this author apparently loves CHEATING as she puts it in ALL. HER. BOOKS. I don't believe Ace of Hearts had any main cheating in it but it talked about it a lot. I will read the next book in this series Knuckle Down and if this book is more like the 1st, I will read this series. ONLY. THIS. SERIES. by this author. Maybe she is done with all the damm cheating.
LOVED. THIS. BOOK. 4.5 Wonderful Stars!! This was my 1st book from this author...and it most certainly won't be the last! I was hooked through the entire book. I swooned, smiled like a loon and fell in love with Ace. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. Luckily, I don't have to wait long as it comes out next month on 7-9.
I started this book just before bedtime last night. I ended up staying up way past my bedtime, skipped make-up and hair time this morning for more reading, and basically skipped working at my office to sneak read and finish the book on my lunch break. Lookin like crap at work and behind on my tasks...but it was all worth it!
Great start to a new series! Now time to go read every book written by my new favorite author ;-)
Ace of Hearts is the first installment of The Cursed Ravens MC
Chantal is know to deliver a great MC read and she didn't disappoint.
Erin Dawson has lived a lie her whole life. The person she's called Daddy since birth turns out not to be her biological father.
On the search for her biological father she ends up at the Cursed Ravens club house. Things really start to get really interesting. Erin becomes the Raven's princess, but that doesnt come without a price. While trying to adjust to this new life shes been exposed to she is confronted with a few challenges that will either make her run back to her boring life before meeting her father and the Cursed Ravens or she will stand tall and fight. I love all the characters in the Cursed Ravens. Ace oh my how I was drooling over him. They are a bunch of sexy Alphas who can be comical but fierce when it comes to protecting those they love. Great read
If you like young adult romance with a side of a motorcycle club of hot, alpha males, you’ll like this romance. Erin and Ace make a cute couple. Erin is 21 years old and she’s both sweet and tough. She’s a college student and still pretty immature. Ace is seven years her senior. It’s lust at first sight but it does take a little time to build to the hot sex scenes. This is a familiar trope with the girl setting out to find her biological father, whom she didn’t know about until just recently. Of course he’s the president of the Cursed Ravens MC. Erin fits right in with the guys and Daddy turns out to be a big softie when it comes to his baby girl. He’ll do anything to keep her around. Erin prefers to go back to college and party with her friends. Ace follows and grovels sufficiently to get back into her good graces. There’s no cheating but there is healthy dose of drama, drama, drama. The MC perspective is really lite with very little focus on exactly what the club does. If you like a sweet romance, hot sex scenes, a bevy of hot alphas who become bff’s of Erin’s and a dose of drama, you’ll love this one. I received an ARC from the publisher/NetGalley for an honest review.
The Cursed Ravens are every bit rough and ready....and then in walks princess Erin to find her dad who doesnt even know she exists.....can only spell trouble and in various forms!
And so begins the story of Erin, her new family and the great whodunnit mystery...and a love interest thrown in!
Ace: 'I wasn’t expecting you.' Gaaah I want him to say this to me!
Erin did grate on my nerves a bit, she was very jealous from the start but I skimmed over these thoughts as it's bloody Chantal Fernando! But I did love her made up reasons how they got their roadnames...it's what I'd do!
Was a great read, I do love an MC read! And I have a clear favourite so everyone can back off...Rogue!
I have said in the past that I am pretty over the MC genre - with the exception of just a couple of authors. And Ms Fernando is one that I will always pick up and read.
I have missed the Wind Dragons MC , and am excited for the new Cursed Ravens MC series.
Erin is the ballsy young woman who walks into the Cursed Ravens club house and turns everything upside down and inside out when she asks to meet her biological father.
Everything she has ever known about her family has been a lie, and now she is trying to create a new, additional family.
I adored those bikers, especially Ace, Gage and Knuckles. I love how they turn to putty in her hands as she worms her way into their club - and their hearts.
And Ace is all kinds of swoonworthy. You can't help but fall for him as the story progresses.
Lies, secrets, and a bit of mystery thrown in, Ace Of Hearts has a bit of everything.
Ooooh and there is an appearance by someone fromthe WDMC that made me smile large.
I really enjoyed Ace Of Hearts and read it in one night. I can't wait for more Cursed Ravens!
Ace of Hearts was an adorable read! Erin is a delightful character-she is vivacious and funny. I loved her interactions with all the guys in the MC. I also loved that the story is told entirely from Erin's POV so you aren't really getting the details of the MC. The club isn't the focus of the story and that was a refreshing change in an 'MC romance'.
Erin and Ace are certainly opposites in many ways. She was raised in the country by 2 loving parents. Ace's life is very rough-left home young, sleeps around a lot, willing to do anything for the MC. But, when Erin finds out her dad isn't her dad, she is determined to meet her real father and get to know him. Their interactions were very authentic. He doesn't know how to interact with a daughter and goes about it like he would his MC guys. Erin doesn't really understand the 'rules' of their world and isn't afraid to call them out or ask questions.
Erin and Ace have issues to overcome for sure: first, she is the prez's daughter and 'off limits'. Second, Ace is a manwhore whose past exploits are club girls who are still hanging around. Third, Ace is kind of hung up on their age difference (not that much of a difference though so I'm not sure what that was really about!). Finally, there is a miscommunication. You know this is my LEAST favorite trope, but it actually worked in this story and I didn't hate it!
If you like the gritty, alpha, no apologies type of heroes, you will love Ace. If you like the slightly sheltered, quirky, brave heroines you will adore Erin. Overall, I thought Ace of Hearts was delightful and endearing! I can't wait to read more in the series!
POV: 1st (Erin) Tears: no Trope: MC club, miscommunication Triggers: none Series/Standalone: stand alone Cliffhanger: HEA:
Marked by Drew Elyse, Blaze by L. Wilder, Close Cover by Lexi Blake...then you will probably like Ace of Hearts!

Good read. I read till it was done and knew from the first page I would. It was good, but had some weak points.
Erin is a strong character. She tends to be a tad over reactor at times. I like that she had her own mind and her own goals in life and didn’t just throw it away for Ace. She showed that you could have both if you just work it out. Ace was interesting. To me he wasn’t a typical MC member in some ways, but was in others. The MC workings seemed glossed over and it never really got into what the club was all about.
The twist in the plot seemed interesting, but it seemed glossed overvtoo, and the reasons behind it seemed flimsy to me. They also didn’t go after the person seriously then they allowed it happen again. That just seemed not developed well.
I enjoyed it overall. Lots of open characters like Clover, Eden, Rogue, and Knuckles.
Received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley.
Ok, so I hated Erin, yep, that's it in a nutshell, sorry, hated her! I couldn't remotely connect with her at all. Hated to stop but I just couldn't take much more of this dreadful girl:(
Ace of Hearts is the first novel in The Cursed Ravens MC series by Chantal Fernando. When I first heard Chantal Fernando was going to write a new MC series I was so freaking excited. I’m a huge fan of the Wind Dragons MC series, and I have a feeling after reading Ace of Hearts I’m going to love this series equally, if not more!
Let's talk a little bit about Ace of Hearts!
Ace of Hearts is told in Erin’s points of view. Erin Moretti was born with two loving parents in the typical small town country lifestyle. She’s had the same close friend since elementary and the typical teenage boyfriend drama. But still she always felt something was off. When she discovers a secret involving her original birth certificate and some other man’s name listed as her father. She decides to give it a go and meet the man whose blood runs through her veins. After a heart to heart with her mom, she learns her father is in a motorcycle club.
I loved Erin’s strength and stubbornness throughout this novel. I found it hilarious that she was a balls to the wall fireball and didn’t put up with anybody’s crap. However, when you have a character that shows so much strength as Erin, it's a hard thing to watch said character go through heartbreak. My heart twisted when she discovered the people she thought she could trust where only out to gain for themselves.
But as we all know, there are three sides to every story… her side, his side, and the truth.
Carson ‘Ace’ Kendrick is the treasurer of the Cursed Ravens MC. He’s also the official club manwhore and ultimately the man who captures Erin’s attention. Ace has never been in love, until Erin stomps through the clubs doors with a whole new level of determination he’s never before seen. He has no choice but to be all in. That is until his club president who also happens to be Erin’s estranged father puts his foot down and threatens any brother who decides to cross the invisible line he’s drawn.
I freaking loved the hell out of ACE! This man is swoony, sexy, and knows what he wants. He’s not above breaking a few rules in order to obtain what he wants even if it means going against his president. But Ace has secrets that Erin is unaware of. The only thing I disliked about Ace was the fact that he had so many damn chances to be real with Erin about what was going on…. However, he took too damn long and shit escalated fast! Ugh… men!
Chantal Fernando is an author who can guarantee sweet and sexy in her novels! This is an important fact for me, as a reader. I need the sweet to go along with the sexy in order to justify the character chemistry. With that being said, I felt the chemistry between Ace and Erin from the start. I loved the romantic and friendship bond that these two have. Its a bond that is simply unbreakable even through all the obstacles thrown their way, I knew these two would make it.
I also loved the bond between Erin and the other characters in this novel. Supporting characters are also an important factor for me, especially given the fact that this is a companion series. The supporting characters need to have a sensible roll and a strong vibe in order for me to continue on with the series. I am completely obsessed with these characters….already! I am needing more from the Cursed Ravens MC men in my life!
Overall, I can safely say Ace of Hearts by Chantal Fernando is a novel that I will be highly recommending all over the place! I loved the relationships, the friendships, and the strong connections between characters. I also loved the fact that there is a little suspense mixed in which will keep you guessing! If you are a lover of MC Romance, like I am, definitely pick up Ace of Hearts!
I cannot wait to read Knuckle Down and Going Rogue! This series is going to be entertaining and hot as hell! Bring it on!
I just LOVED this story. Erin fearlessly walked right into a MC clubhouse and showed all the sass and bravado she had so she could deal with the onslaught of bikers she faced. From there she was thrust into a world she knew nothing about but it was a world that felt like home.
In just a short amount of time she bonds with badass bikers so easily. Her personality is so easygoing that the guys take to her quickly and their loyalty to her becomes more about how they feel toward her versus her now having the coveting title of club princess.
Erin was so witty, her banter with the guys was funny and cute and sweet. To her these guys were just big teddy bears instead of how they appear to the rest of the world.
And then there’s Ace. They share an instant connection that forms into a friendship and quickly evolved into so much more. And as with any “MC Princess” she’s designated as off-limits to everyone. But, of course, that doesn’t stop her from wanting Ace and vice versa. Erin is strong willed and stubborn and she’s not going to let anyone tell her she can’t be with Ace.
This was such a great read. I fell instantly in love with the characters (especially Rogue and I can’t wait to read his book) that I read it in one sitting. I just couldn’t put it down. This was my very first Chantal Fernando book and I totally loved everything about it. Her writing was superb, the characters were completely likable and her MC world was nearly perfect. It had all the aspects of the whole one percenters vibe without delving into a much darker theme. It was much lighter than the MC books I’ve read and it was a refreshing change of pace. I just loved it.
This was very cute, which for me is an odd description for a "motorcycle club" read. But I digress, the characters were all incredibly likable. I found that to be refreshing. I think Erin was a very solid heroine. And again, it was cute and funny.
But it's another one of those reads that I'm not really sure what the point was. Nothing happened. And although I did like the MCs, I didn't necessarily buy into their love story. Which I think was due more to the storytelling than anything else.
This is my first read by this author. And I have seen that she has another popular mc series. What struck me as odd here was that to me, this read as a book that was written by someone that just took the introductory class on writing mc-light romance. After every mc-like thing would happen, such as introducing prospects, club business, old ladies vs. club sl*ts, the story would stop and explain how that fits into the mc world. All tell and no show.
The story def had potential. Again, it just all felt pretty basic and juvenile. It had all the makings to be something good, but fell flat for me.
I don't feel like I wasted my time or anything, but I wouldn't read another in this series or try her other mc books.
Would I recommend? Probably not. UNLESS, you really like motorcycle club romance but do not care for the edgier/grittier ones. I would categorize this as a safe read and it didn't pack much of a price commitment. But if you're an mc romance pro at this point, I feel like you could skip it.
I’m a huge fan of MC romance series; I adored Chantal Fernando’s Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club series, so I was excited to dive into Ace of Hearts, the first book in Fernando’s new motorcycle series that focuses on the Cursed Ravens Motorcycle Club. There’s just something about being in the biker world, surrounded by badass alpha males who protect their own and go after what they want with grit and determination.
Erin Dawson’s world is nothing like the one she’s about to enter, but she’s hellbent on walking into the Cursed Ravens club and demanding a meeting with Gage who just so happens to be the Cursed Ravens’ president. But, as much as she thought she was ready to meet her father…as much as she’s always felt like the black sheep of her family, it’s clear that her world is about to be turned upside down in unimaginable ways, and when it comes down to it, she’ll have to decide if she’s ready to be the princess of the Cursed Ravens or go back to the sheltered world she never felt accepted in, letting go of any contact with her biological father or the biker who she was instantly attracted to as soon as their eyes connected.
As soon as Erin takes one step inside, she’s initiated into ‘club life,’ and her moniker of ‘Trouble’ seems to fit her to a T, and because Erin’s story is told from her own perspective, readers come along for the ride, experiencing every ‘first’ that Erin has, all the ups and downs that come with it, finding her way and understanding how things work inside a biker club as well as forcing her to either accept how it all works or move on from what might be a family of bikers that she’s always needed.
Erin’s a sassy, smart-mouthed heroine who can definitely handle herself in the environment she finds herself in, but there’s also a learning curve for her because she’s not used to the no holds barred attitude that dominates the Cursed Ravens’ bikers’ lives or the fact that not all of her questions will receive answers.
Ace is all about his club, his brothers, and the code they follow, but Erin is a game changer for him, and while she’s supposed to be off-limits due to her ‘princess’ status, what’s between them is undeniable, so they’re both willing to face whatever consequences might be handed down from Erin’s dad/Ace’s President.
I really enjoyed Ace’s Heart; the interactions between Erin and her dad as well as the growing bond between Erin and Ace. I did have a few issues with the conflict/main antagonists given the setting of the storyline and the potential threats that the club could face; it felt a bit too contrived, but even though I struggled with it, I get that there needed to be events/situations that would lead to Erin’s realization of where she truly belongs, and what occurred did get the job done. I’m excited for Fernando’s new biker series, and I’m eager to be introduced to other members of the Cursed Ravens and see what trouble they can cause as well as see how these MC brothers react and handle the women who make these bikers’ lives both heavenly and hellish at the same time.
Ace of Hearts by Chantal Fernando Erin Dawson has just found out that the man that raised her, is not her real father. Her real father is the president of a ruthless motorcycle club, the “Cursed Ravens”. Armed with her birth certificate she is determined to meet him. Despite meeting her father, she can’t help but notice Ace, the incredibly sexy biker. There seems to be a mutual attraction, but her father has stated that she is off limits. While her father and his men welcome the new princess with open arms, there are those that despise her and will stop at nothing to get rid of her. Who can she trust and is this lifestyle worth it? Ace can’t help his attraction to the new Princess. A situation arises that puts Erin in danger. Will Ace protect her or is there more at play than we realize? We are introduced to secondary characters and they really make a huge impact on this story. They also left you wanting more. There were a few plot twists but nothing hectic. The story was enjoyable but a little predictable. This one ends on a HEA. Overall it was enjoyable. Reviewed for Hot books and Sassy Girls book blog
I have been a huge fan of Chantal Fernando since her Wind Dragons MC series and so was so excited to jump aboard this new series. I loved Erin and Ace and thought the whole cast of characters in the MC were fantastic!
When Erin realizes that her biological father is the President of the The Cursed Ravens MC, she could never have expected that her entire life would change when she met her father and his crew of MC Brothers. I thought Ace was fabulous. He was sexy, honest and blunt. While I did like Erin, I did feel like her constant jealousy was excessive and a little immature at times. I also felt that the ending was a little rushed and could have been fleshed out more. So many of the conflicts/issues were resolved so quickly that it felt emotionless at times.
All in all this was a fantastic start to the series and I look forward to more from the author in this series!
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publiaher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 Stars! ~Ratula
