When Janie Ryan met Nate Lexington sparks flew. He was the hottest guy she'd ever seen and she knew she would do anything to get to know him better. Even if that meant pretending to love chess or dragging her best friend to late night parties. Janie thinks that Nate is the one. He's the guy that she was meant to meet and live happily ever after with. Only fate never quite works out as we like and Janie might be in a little over her head with Nate. That Guy is the prequel to The Hookup.
What a jerk! I can't believe Janie feel for such a jerk. Makes you think twice about the One. Is there really that one person who's out there and is really your true love? I'll have to see what happens next and what will Janie do. A good start.
A little Prequel to Cooper's "The Hook-up" (date of release unknown). Suffice to say, it just didn't work for this reader. I have a history of hits & misses with this author's books, so I wasn't caught off guard or surprised when this one was a no-go as well. I just hoped for more -- and the blurb for The Hook-Up had already grabbed my attention -- but not sure I'll follow through with reading it.
Sorry....I feel bad, but it was kind of horrible. I’m not sure I’m a fan of Janie - delusional. I will not read the next book. It really pains me to leave reviews like this.
This was a painful read. I'm being honest here. Janie had to be one of the most frustrating female leads that I have read about. This girl is all over the place. Her emotions ping pong back and forth. Happy then angry and snapping then bubbly and ( in love) then jealous again, all in the same sentence or maybe short paragraph . This girl was a waiting target for bad things seriously. Oh no he would never drug my drink, Grrr. Then there is Nate who contradicted himself saying that he didn't want Janie but then he gets mad that other guys are paying attention to her and she is flirting as well. Oh but the fun really starts when Nate see's Janie in her underwear ( to swim) and decides that he has to have her. Funny enough he thinks shes sexy but feels a brotherly protectiveness towards her. What?? Lets not forget the whole blow off things and the lame texts later. This was a seriously frustrating read. I wont be reading any more of this series sorry. Just not the book for me.
This was a free prequel book on kindle. It’s not very well written and has a lot of editing errors. Honestly what’s the point of having editors if these books get published and you have to guess the grammar? Anyway, I didn’t hate it. It was kind of entertaining and I’m considering finishing the series even if it doesn’t have great reviews. I feel for Janie because I feel like I was her my freshman year of college. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this book but if you’re looking to make your reading goal it was less than 100 pages.
What a great start to The Hookup with this prequel Well written with great characters and a good storyline. Can't wait for the Hookup. This is the story of Nate and Janie. I read an advance copy and voluntarily chose to write a review. J.S. Cooper doesn't disappoint.
Wow.... I hate saying this but this book was terrible. Okay, so Janie was an annoying, whiny college girl. She seemed creepy, like to the point where she may as well be stalker creepy. She was truly annoying, clingy and acting dumb. Her friend is more of someone I’d read about. Honestly it sounded as though the author had no idea what she was writing. It was boring, it ended too soon with out really going anywhere in the first place. I can’t say I would recommend or read more. I didn’t want to finish this but tried giving it the benefit of the doubt. Waste of time.
Well written and has me excited for the release of, "The HookUp." I guess the only thing that bothered me was how naive she was... OK, if I'm being totally honest, she was just stupid! I do like that in the start of the book she seems to have matured. I am hoping Nate gets a wake up call, but then again, some people never do. I think you'll like reading this, and the next in the series. Enjoy!
This was a great start for a fantastic book to come. I'm really looking forward to rest of this story, it's going to be awesome. Can't wait to find out what happens between Janie and Nate, personally Nate seems like a jerk to me hope he can change my opinion of him..
I can not wait for the next book to come out "The Hook Up"!! I can't wait to see if she is pregnant or not. This book was Amazing it has everything. You can not put it down. Fast paced, SOO, SOO HOT and SEXY!! You fall in love with Janie from the start. I am going to read it Again. And that says a lot coming from Me.
That Guy was a great read by J.S. Cooper. This book is a prequel to The Hookup. Janie Ryan met Nate Lexington and sparks flew. He was the hottest guy she had ever seen and wanted to get to know him better. Even if she had to pretend to love chess or drag her best friend to late night parties. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
How can a hookup with a crush become a scandalous affair? My wheels are spinning...what would you do? All girls have had a crush that ends in tears. Loved the prequel can't wait for the hookup
Gah! Ms. Cooper has the art of the tease down pat! This story gives you a small taste of what’s to come and leaves you begging for more! Cannot wait until The Hookup comes out!
Amazing, so intense, exciting, crushes, young love, heartbreak. Hen one person feels they can use another without consequences to what happens after, in regards to their feelings, well being. Cannot wait to read The Hook Up!
Can't wait to read the full book. I hate I have to wait for nine days. But oh well. The wait will make it much better I'm sure. Loved these characters already.
Really enjoyed this prequel, makes me really anxious for the full book. Had to give it four stars due to some pretty significant editing issues, kind of hindered some of the reading enjoyment. Otherwise great lead up to the book.
I found the editing errors a tad annoying, and just wanted to slap Janie by the time I got to the last chapter! Hallelujah for the last page or two, otherwise I was ready to give this book 2 stars!
The book is good but it is just start to the Hookup. It is ends in a cliffhanger and is pretty short. Janie seems pretty flighty to me for a college student. Or maybe the word I am looking for is immature. Ante is your typical rude, using woman for sex college male.
The Hookup will now need to be ordered by me, oh you sucked me in
This is a story of college students who aren't ready for a real relationship. Yet. I hope in the next one Janie makes Nate work for it and gains more self respect.
I’m really starting to hate when a novelist publishes a “novella” that’s nothing more than a teaser to another story. Okay, I got it for free but time is a valuable commodity too. I love J S Cooper but please, the story or nothing.
Ms. Cooper always writes a fabulous story. Although I have to say I was ready to slap Janie. And Nate was a jerk. But I can't wait to see what happens next!
