Do you ever fall in love with the characters in your books? Well, don't if you read this one. The characters die when you least expect it and it is gut wrenching. Imagine a world where the adults have all either died or contracted a terrible disease that makes them want to eat children. Here is the tale- or the start of the tale of such a society. Be prepared to need to read the rest of the series once you finish this book. Each book tells the tale of a group of children, all mini-societies are intertwined in some way.

I'm usually a dark romance girlie but my best friend asked me to read this and I'm so glad she did.

This book is incredible, it really makes you think about the luxuries we take for granted every day.

Charlie Higson has a fantastic way of describing things so it feels like you are right there along with his characters, who are also beautifully written by the way.

Do not get attached to anyone in this series, it's honestly a risk you take, people will die and it will effect you to the point where you are still thinking about that person hours later.

I loved this book and even if it's not your usual genre you should still read it!!
