A deal sent them to the altar—and now desire is leading them to the bedroom . . .After her twin sister disappears—with thirty thousand dollars of his money—Harper McDonald is given no choice but to step in and honor the agreement Leah made with formidable tycoon Vieri Romano. Even though the thought of serving as his fake fiancée sets her heart racing . . .After she’s stolen away from his New York nightclub to his Sicilian castle, Harper is at the mercy of their mutual longing. But when consummating their vows has consequences, she must Dare she trust Vieri with more than her body?
I found this to be fairly enjoyable. The story line was interesting and there was a significant amount of angst, caused in large part by the H's tendency to spread his toxic invisible circle of bitterness onto the poor heroine. I felt pity for Vieri because of what he had experienced in his life at the age of 18 but I still thought that he had spent 14 long yrs dwelling on that situation to the point where he became a really bitter, cynical and toxic individual. When Vieri was an 18 yr old virgin, he was seduced by his godfather Alfonso's 30 something yr old niece Donatella. The impressionable teen Vieri fell in love with the married Donatella and was hurt badly when she aborted their baby, laughed at him for being enthralled by her and dumped him. It's awful when people go through shit like that at such an impressionable age but, as often happens in real life, Vieri never let go of the bitterness and it grew to such toxic proportions that it impacted negatively on his relationship with the heroine Harper. He's a bit of a misogynist manwhore as well. I know women in real life who have become misandrists ( man haters ) after bad relationships and it's really emotionally unhealthy to be in their sphere of influence since their bitterness and cynicism tend to drown out everybody else's optimism and happiness. I can sympathize with an individual who's become radically bitter because of failed relationships, but I cannot personally be in their company for long periods of time because they tend to make me depressed and sometimes I even feel guilty that I'm so happy when they're so bitter.
Harper's twin sister Leah worked as a waitress in Vieri's nightclub. Leah took $30 000 from Vieri to play his fake, platonic fiancee so that he could make his dying godfather happy. Vieri was not attracted to Leah and had not been in any kind of relationship with her, other than an employer/employee situation. When Leah takes the money and runs off, Vieri blackmails the heroine into taking her place. The H finds himself attracted to Harper and is confused about it since he had not felt an inkling of chemistry with her identical twin sister. The 25 yr old Harper is the sole member of her family who always gets the unwanted responsibility of cleaning up her relatives' various messes. Harper's a 25 yr old virgin and contrary to what a lot of people will say, that's not such a miraculous thing in today's world. I felt the need to mention that because a lot of women in my generation are choosing to wait until after marriage to have sex but the preponderance of virgin shaming ( just as bad as slut shaming ) keeps them silent about their personal lives. I've been one of those women although I got married right after University and I saw women at college being made fun of for still being virgins. The really introverted virgins were mocked the most. People learned not to mess with me because I'm confident with a loud mouth and I know how to use it very effectively. Lol. But I'm a more placid soul right now since I've learnt to disengage from toxic and bitter individuals. Having lots of dogs and a happy married life helps...
So the 25 yr old virgin heroine goes to Sicily with Vieri and things begin to heat up as they spend time in each other's company. Alfonso is a wonderful old man and he soon grows to adore Harper. Donatella, Vieri's former OW, turns up again in her Botoxed glory, to spread her poison. She comes across as a caricature of a pathetic hag and Vieri's bitterness makes him vulnerable to her toxic influence. He's not attracted to her nor does he like her, but his bitterness towards her makes him so cynical about women in general that he ends up being a cruel asshole to Harper. Alfonso uses emotional blackmail to con the MC's into marrying before he dies. The platonic MOC agreement goes up in flames on their wedding night when they have sex but everything falls apart the morning after: Alfonso dies and Donatella pays a visit to the castello. Vieri is angry and he ends up insulting Harper, making fun of the latter's (former ) 25 yr old virgin status and tells the heroine to pack her bags and leave. He regrets it soon after she departs but waits until a few weeks have elapsed before going to Scotland to effect a reconciliation. Meanwhile, Harper finds out she's pregnant and is on bed rest due to minor health issues. The reunion works out after an initial conflict due to Vieri's misinterpretation of a comment made by Leah. The H thinks that Harper is in bed because she's had an abortion and he is ballistic with rage. Things work out after they share their feelings and confess their love. The epilogue is set after their son's birth and the MC's are back at the castello in Sicily since Alfonso had left it to them in his will. The best part: Alfonso did not leave a dime in his will for his evil niece Donatella !

Harper's sister, Leah maded a deal with Vieri, the hero.
She'll be his fake fiancee for 30,000.00 in cash.
Vieri's godfather is dying and his greatest wish is to see Vieri married.
Leah disappears, with the cash. Harper comes to Leah's place of work hoping to find some information so she can search for her. Harper and Vieri meet, with Vieri saying she can take her sisters place.
And so the story takes off from there. The majority of the story takes place in Sicily, with Harper, Vieri and his godfather, Donatella. Donatella comes to care and love Harper, his hope is to see Vieri and Harper married. So he does all he can to see the two wed.
Vieri was not the most endearing hero. He had something happen in his past that embittered him and he's never moved past it. Harper is sweet and endearing.
Found the development of the two MC relationship to be lacking. The warmth or connection just wasn't there for me.
I loved Vieri and Harper. He was a sexy alpha hero and she was the sweetest heroine ever. Glad he got over his evil ex-girlfriend and created a family with Harper. But something was missing. Like my friend Esther said the development of the two MC relationship was sadly lacking.
This was such a good read, I really enjoyed it from page one, a set of twins, a Sicilian Tycoon and journey to a beautiful HEA that was the beginning of new feelings, of learning to love and the joy that, that love will bring two people. I loved the setting and the characters and can highly recommend this one.
Harper McDonald will do anything for anyone really especially her twin sister Leah and when Leah vanishes it is Harper who is off to find out what has happened to her never dreaming that this trip to New York will bring her love and happiness with the strong and formidable Vieri Romano and her agreeance to be his fake fiancé.
Vieri Romano is an orphan who has no family the only person he has is his loving Godfather Alfonso and he will do anything even marry to make his last days happy and when one of his workers absconds with the down payment to be his fake fiancé and suddenly her sister arrives he convinces Harper to become that fake fiancé, and for someone who was always determined to stay single being with Harper opens up a new world for him a world of true love.
This is a beautiful story although Vieri comes across a bit hard in the start he has been hurt badly before and puts up a brick wall and to see Harper break that world down is just so lovely, you see Harper really has spent her life doing for others and now Vieri is getting that help to open up and learn to love and he returns it so well. This is a beautifully written story fabulous characters and with a HEA that left me sighing and smiling, thank you MS Brock for another fabulous story and I do hope that Leah gets her HEA.
Vieri’s Convenient Vows by Andie Brock: Vieri’s Convenient Vows by Andie Brock is a passionate romance with two people who start out in a fake engagement but end up in a real loving marriage.
Vieri Romano has been waiting for his runaway thief of an employee to show up back in his nightclub, but when it’s her sister Harper who appears instead, looking for her wayward sister, he can still make his plan come to fruition. That plan? To have the woman pretend to be his fiancee to appease his elderly dying godfather who wants him to find a partner, and soon. Since Leah took his money for the gig and took off, it falls to Harper to fill in for her missing sister.
Harper has spent her life taking care of others and feels obligated to fix this latest mess by her sister. Pretending to be Vieri’s fiancee means being whisked off to beautiful Sicily and a gorgeous estate, wined and dined but trying to resist the handsome and charismatic Vieri. She finds she really likes Vieri’s godfather Alfonso and doesn’t mind playing the role if it will fill his last days with peace. But when their engagement leads to an actual wedding, will their pretense of feelings for each other become all too real?
There are twin sisters. Harper and Leah MacDonald. Harper is the Good Twin and one who is also good, kind, sensible, hardworking, trustworthy, selfless, caring, loving and self sacrificing. This is her book. In fact the Heroine is so self sacrificing that she easily qualifies for an award for being so GENEROUS AND SELF-SACRIFICING.
So that leaves us with Leah…. the not-so-good Twin. She is all things that her sister is not. She is flighty. She has a chip on her shoulder. She is trouble with a capital T. She doesn’t think before she acts. She feels no guilt over her actions. The author would also like us to believe that she is very “Naive”(Imagine this… A guy tells you that he’ll double your money in a casino and you believe him and hand over all the money to him!!!!!! Can anybody be that “Naive”? Well…. The author would like us to believe that the Heroine’s twin is!!!!!) She can be found in Kidnapped For Her Secret Son
I was looking forward to Andie's latest book and I definitely wasn't disappointed. I love the way the characters are described. So much so that I felt I would like Harper to be my friend - she was very down-to-earth and with a heart of gold. I love the nuggets of subtle humour that Andie introduces into the text. Andie has a great knack of leaving each chapter such that you want to read the next and you don't want the book to end. When, however, you have read the book you have a smile on your face and a warm feeling inside. What's not to like?
Harper McDonald has spent most of her life protecting her family with no regard to herself. So no surprise when she enters spectrum club to find her twin sister. She doesn't find Leah instead comes face to face with Vieri Romano. Finding out her sister took money from him and then left leaves her in a position to again protect. Vieri has no family as he was an orphan and only has one man he looks up to Alfonso Calleroni and when his dying wish is to see Vieri married that is exactly what Vieri will do. Ms. Brock has truly written a lovely story of two people from different countrys but with dedication to whatever family they have. Follow Vieri as he finds the family he has always wished for, its not easy as he has lived so long alone but the journey has a wonderful HEA.
VIERI’S CONVENIENT VOWS by author Andie Brock is a Harlequin Presents release for April 2018.
Vieri Romano makes Harper fulfil her twin sister’s commitment after she fled. So now Harper had to play the role of Vieri’s fake fiancée.
But playing fake fiancée was one thing, now she had to actually marry him and play fake bride. Could she do it? Could she keep playing a role while keeping her heart intact?
VIERI’S CONVENIENT VOWS is a romance filled with emotions and drama. Author Andie Brock brought this story to life on the pages where a reader would sympathize with the hero and heroine yet root for them too.
Harper has no choice but to honor her runaway sister’s agreement—even though becoming the fake fiancée to formidable tycoon Vieri Romano sets her heart racing! After she’s stolen away to his Sicilian castle, Harper is at the mercy of their mutual longing. But when consummating their vows has consequences, she must decide: Dare she trust Vieri with more than her body?
"Vieri's Convenient Vows" by Andie Brock brings us the story of Vieri Romero and Harper McDonald. As Vieri makes the forceful suggestion that Harper stands in for her twin sister as his fiancee she doesn't anticipate that her feelings would turn into something more than just standing in for her sister.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is your classic happy ever after with the angst and trust issues of the hero Vieri thrown in. THe godfather of Vieri wants to seem him settled and happy. He strikes a deal with Leah who abscounds with his money. Enter Harper looking for her sister who disappeared off of the grid for awhile. SHe honors the the agreement and finds out she really wants to make Alfonso, the godfather happy on his dying days. Enjoyable.
Well that was interesting and kind of fun. I feel as if I know Harlequin Romance books very well by reputation, although I had never actually read one. So when I noticed a bunch of them for sale in our local library for only 25 cents apiece, I couldn't resist the urge to buy one and satisfy my desire, so to speak.
But which one? Of the books for sale, every last synopsis talked of a woman being wooed by some fabulously wealthy jet-setter. I later discovered that this is because all of the books were from the "Harlequin Presents" series, which specializes in this particular sub-genre. And apparently they turn out eight of these things every month! There's obviously a market for them...
At any rate, I ended up with "Vieri's Convenient Vows", in which a real estate magnate tries to please his dying godfather by pretending to have a fiance. Of course the woman who ends up filling the role thinks he's a horrible rascal, yet can't help but feel the flutter of her heart and the stirring of her loins.
The book was very much as I expected, which was halfway between a soap opera and very soft pornography with enough of a plot to provide a more-or-less plausible framework to give some weight to the emotional content. It's meant to be escapist entertainment and it succeeds pretty well in that role. It was an easy and quick read and while I'm not likely to read another I'm now able to honestly say that yes, I have indeed read a Harlequin romance.
Switching places is more than she bargained for! A delightful story of twin sisters where one finds herself always cleaning up after her wayward twin, and this time just might be the catalyst to make her put her foot down! The story was fast paced and the characters were easy to be drawn in by. There were a few spots where the plot could have been developed a tad more, but overall it was an enjoyable read!
Harper McDonald would do just about anything for her twin sister, but finding herself stuck living up to a bargain in her place with a ruthless international tycoon seems to be going too far! She's willing to play the part, but when the stakes are raised, will she be able to live up to his expectations?
Vieri Romano might agree to let Harper fill in for her sister in the pretend fiancee deal that they had made on his trip to Sicily, but it doesn't take him long to figure out that they are nothing alike. It's clear he has gotten the better end of the bargain when he begins to see what a genuine soul she truly is, but when consequences come out of their time spent together, will he mistake her intentions or be patient enough to see her goodness through it all?
A deal to please his dying godfather sends them to the altar…But desire leads them to the bedroom! Harper McDonald has no choice but to honor her runaway sister’s agreement after she stole $30,000 from her employer and didn’t deliver—even though becoming the fake fiancée to formidable (business tycoon) Vieri Romano sets her heart racing! After she’s stolen away to his Sicilian castle, Harper is at the mercy of their mutual longing. But when consummating their vows has consequences, she must decide: Dare she trust Vieri with more than her body? She’S pregnant and he thinks once again, a child of his has been aborted.
"Harper watched his retreating figure, so tall and imposing. So unmistakably Vieri. This impossible, arrogant, gloriously perfect specimen of manhood who turned her life upside down. Who drove her crazy in every possible way. And from whom, no matter how short their so-called marriage might be, whatever might happen in the future, she feared she would never fully recover".
Loved this book, the family ties and obligations that bind Harper and Vieri together eventually becomes more complicated as they start to realise this might not be a strictly contractual relationship...
Loved chemistry/interaction between Harper and Vieri, blackmail, romance, enjoyed this read. Harper's twin sister, Leah, takes thousands of dollars from Vieri Romano to play the role of Vieri’s fake fiancée. Leah disappears with the money and Harper goes looking for her, Harper is brought to Vieri thinking she is Leah. Vieri makes Harper take on the commitment, to appease his dying Godfather's wish to see Vieri married. So now Harper has to pretend to be his fiancee. Godfather gets them to marry. Good story, it's a keeper to re-read
Vieri Romano needed a fiancee. The woman he paid to fulfill that role took the money and disappeared. Harper McDonald appears and is the twin to the missing woman. Harper gets to honor the agreement her sister made.
An OK story overall.
I probably would have liked it a lot better if I didn't spend half the time trying to figure out how to say Vieri (Google translate was no help) Then I would waste time trying to make up a new name to replace Vieri (Barry was the closest) . And I don't know why this one just hit me wrong, but even the sci-fi names I have less trouble with.
Veri and Harper make this wonderful story what it is; from their very interesting and enjoyable meeting, through to their journey of learning about each other, finishing off with their happy ever after. But it's a bumpy ride full of angst and feelings either party didn't know they were capable of feeling. With very, very interesting side characters and snappy dialogue with a touch of humor, I thought Andie Brock's story "Vieri's Convenient Vows" was exciting, dramatic and wonderfully told in a way that lit up my imagination and transported me far away. Loved it!
- After recommendations and trying to branch into other genres I decided to pick up a Mills and Boon romance novel at the library. The story appears very similar to 50 Shades of Grey. Boy meets girl, girl is a stand in for the original girl. He is a wealthy businessman devoid of emotion after an affair with an older woman and she is the forbidden fruit - a virgin. It won’t set the world on fire but for a short story read in a couple of hours it was fine
Nice little fake engagement tale with a real angsty H and sweet, good-hearted h. The characters played out well together, but whenever the OW showed up it went into high drama overdrive. Given the amount of time and space that had occurred since the H's and OW's relationship, I really thought the H should've mellowed somewhat. I guess time doesn't heal all wounds.
A MOC to ease the mains of the H’s elderly godfather who is ill and may be dying.
The book is ok. The H is a bit unstable. He’s blows hot and cold way too often. The h is kindhearted and has a father and a twin that take advantage. Which is how she ended up as a fake fiancée to the H. I adored Alfonso, the old Sicilian godfather. He was a sneaky old sweetheart.
Rated 3.5. The story was actually very nice. Though I felt like the development of their relationship (the hero and heroine) was kind of lacking, like wait how could they fall in love just after that one time? It was good nonetheless, they got married and she got pregnant.
Andie Brock knows how to keep the electricity whizzing between her two main protagonists in, Vieri's Convenient Vows, her latest release. Harper McDonald is in a fix and marrying Vieri Romano in a fake ceremony may well be the solution to her problem. Except, she cannot keep her heart from racing each time she set eyes on her fake husband. Being alone with Vieri creates wicked temptation in Harper's heart and it's not before long that she gives into these raw desires. However, the price for her passion will test her self-will and resolve. Could she dare trust her emotions when it comes to the formidable husband whose broody persona and gorgeous looks set her soul in fire? With passionate emotions bubbling between Vieri and Harper, the author does an excellent job keeping the flow fast-paced and the characters engaging. To sum it all, Andie Brock brings Vieri and Harper to life with vivid, articulate storytelling where deep emotions and vivid scenarios keep you hooked on the unfolding journey where two people head to the altar with undercurrents raging beneath the surfaces of their reserved, outward bravado.
