Safe Haven is leaving America Safe Haven has abandoned the cursed mountain in search of a boat to take them to Pitcairn Island. Population cut in half, they have a long month of travel ahead and not enough fuel, water, food, or Eagles to make the journey. Forced to resume scavenging for their needs as they roll, the refugee camp is a target for other survivors who are still determined to be a part of that light. Angela needs to get her people south without being discovered. It is an impossible goal in a harsh, unforgiving environment where the only truth is survival.
Last Call. Who will go and who will stay? The light is fading. The descendants in camp have been weakened. Forbidden by the boss to use their power or draw energy, the hosts are becoming fragile and the camp around them is helpless to protect their gifted members. When Angela leaves camp on a run and doesn’t return, Safe Haven begins to tear itself apart and not even Marc can stop it. Will Angela be found in time to keep them together or will an unknown contagion keep Safe Haven from getting on the boat at all?
I love this story. I honestly hope it never ends. Post apocalyptic stories give us the best and worst of humanity. Angela White honestly writes that both of those exist in most of us. And seriously, someone needs to create this story for the small screen The editing errors were more prevalent in this book but, in a way, it adds to the realism.
Yes, I did notice a lot of grammatical errors but I love this series and that did not stop me from enjoying the story.
Was pleasantly surprised by The Sanctuary city all though it seemed too good to be true. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Lol, but that’s how good a writer Angela is.
Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Safe Haven is under attack. Everyone is super tired and no powers left
Safe Haven is under attack and everyone has used their powers to the point they have little left. They are almost out of ammo. But something strange is happening, their attackers are under attack from an unknown source. What is happening? Who is helping?
It is really hard to write a review for Angela White. Everything you want in a book is in her book 9. It is a pleasure reading any book she writes. And the book is long enough that you really get into the plot and the characters. This is one series you have to read.
I love the storyline of the series and have a love/hate relationship with the characters. I have purchased the whole set, so far. I, like many others, have found MANY grammar issues. But, choose to make my best attempts at reading in favor of the good story. However, something that is really challenging for me is research issues. For instance, do you use a map on the wall with distance and measurements while you write? On what U.S.A. map is a Mississippi Naval base just across the Georgia State Line? How does one get from Georgia to Mississippi in such a short time while driving in a in a tight line of 2o+ vehicles going around 35mph? During the govt battle the soldiers were mostly on foot and on a 100 mile a day march to get to the mountain on foot. The survivors were into positions and duties from state to state and on foot in hours . Those soldiers on the 100 mile a day marches would have bleeding and bloody feet and to tired to fight a 4 year old over his Lego house. I lived in the area of that mountain. Been to Lookout, and Ruby Falls, Stone Mountain and know the area fairly well. Most of your distances and timing were so far off that even I was lost. Like Marks trip out west through Indian lands, Denver etc. Mostly on horseback. There is no way that the distance and timing works. I saw in another review post where someone mentioned firing your editors, I will second that. I still plan to get the next books and to finish reading the series as it is completed , and I will still enjoy them.
Just like the previous books in the Life After War series, this book is extremely hard to put down once you start (alert - you may want to re-read the last chapter of book 8 to keep up with the story line ... some people even re-read the entire story from the beginning when each new book comes out). Granted this issue is an early release edition and does have some typos and other spots that need cleaned up, but for all of us die-hard LAW readers who can't hardly wait for each new book to be released we don't really worry much about those spots as we don't want to wait any longer to read the newest part of the saga.
Book Nine of the Life After War series continues on the story of a group of survivors that are called Safe Haven and their escape to Pitcairn Island from what remains of the old US after a last massive world war and a vengeful nature has killed off the majority of the population, and what remains are mostly groups that just want to kill everyone else. In book 9 we get a twist in the story line as Safe Haven meets up with another group that is much like them and are peaceful, yet they chose to stay and rebuild in a bit of the old west Fort style (their "town" is surrounded by a thick wall that was made from parts of destroyed houses with entrance through a main gate, and they grow their own food/raise animals inside much like the frontier army forts did).
Very disappointed. Once again, the author has failed to use a good editor. There were words missing, wrong words, misspelled words from chapter 1 onward. This doesn't even address grammar and punctuation problems. Her early books in the series had the same problems, but the last two, I thought she had finally sprung for an editor.
I admit I am hooked on the series and the characters. However, this book she repeated within it a lot of information and character reasoning "repeatedly". The plot only progressed at the end. I think she should have tightened up the first 75% and at least taken us as far as getting ready to board the boat in this book. It felt like too much filler and not enough time taken to write a complete book in the series.
did rushing to publication shortshrift the writing process?
This was another long instalment of a complex and detailed post-apocalyptic fantasy series, which sees Safe Heaven attempting to reach the boat for the island. There are battles, dilemmas and changes.
I liked the writing style, all except 'me either', when it should be 'me neither '. It was extremely detailed and frequently switched between characters so we knew what was happening as a whole - well done.
Guilt was a common theme, though, in my opinion, it was sometimes misplaced - evil must be vanished when possible without guilt.
Angela is a complex character and her powers amazing and yet she's vulnerable and susceptible to numerous things. I would not like to be her.
Overall, this was a good story with familiar characters and new ones, together making an intriguing mix and satisfying read.
Angela White evolves with each book she writes just as her main character Angie does. I enjoy her interesting take on theology even though I would be considered heretic within my own sphere of living because of my reading habits. Plus the fact that I believe in magic, (cue song here). I have a unique relationship with our Creator that many Christians would cringe at. I argue, cuss, and fight with God a lot. I have trouble accepting things as they always expect to be done. Angela's writing shows that too. This book 9 is incredibly illuminating and book 10 even more so. The Apocalypse has never been so exciting or terrifying as the Life After War series is. Tighten your 5-point harness my friends. The ride ain't over yet!
I have read all the books in this series and this is one of the best. I am anticipating book 10. I have reread some of the earlier books to keep up with the characters. The earthquake in the mountain was so sad, so many good people lost. My biggest complaint is the proofreading, misspelled words, incomplete sentences, and grammar errors. Angela White is an amazing and imaginative writer, with a bright future. I hope the next book will bring happiness, love, and peace to Angela, Marc, and all of Safe Haven.
A good read, with great characters and storyline, though the flow can sometimes be hard to follow. Many grammatical errors and some spelling errors as well. I don't know if an editor is being used but one should be considered if not; if one is, then find a good one because they aren't good at their job. At a minimum have someone with good grammar and spelling skills read and edit before publishing. It is easy to his our mistakes when only the writer reviews their work.
As the group gets ready to leave Ciemus and America for their journey to the ship and then their new home for the next few Yeats on the island, gifts begin to return to the descendants and Angela regains her glimpses of the future... Optimism and hope make a long missing reappearance for the Safe Haven crew and the new members from Ciemus... even as some of the Safe Haven group remain behind in Ciemus...
These books definitely need to be read it order. Especially after they've been edited again. I still find some wording mistakes but at least now you're able to follow the book without having to reread the page a few times. Every LAW book is better than the last one and I can't wait for the next one!!! Hurry up Angie !!!
Love this series! Non stop action. If the world was ending and changing as we know it now...you would want to be a member of "Safe Haven" with Angela and Marc guiding and protecting you.
Lovely books but need editing to be clearer. I agree with one rating where the last Sanctuary town seems too good to be true, that something is going to change. I am looking forward to the next book, #10.
As always, this book in the series kept my attention all the way through. I have read the entire series thus far and look forward to more books and adventures. Angela White brings these characters to life and I truly like the love/hate relationships between the characters.
This is one of my favorite series to read over and over. Interesting characters, original plots...it's never boring. One chapter I'm laughing, the next crying. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Safe Haven is making progress in living through the refugee attacks and battles. Many were hurt and killed during the battles at the cave. Healing has begun as Safe Haven readies for a trip to sanctuary.
But the editing is still abysmal. Whoever is doing the editing is not doing the author a service. No matter how good the story is , it can't flow if all the editing errors make it seem like rollerskating over a room full of marbles.
Great read. I am already looking forward to the next one. Some of the characters seem to have stopped growing. They were strong, loyal and had a personality of their own. I hope that they continue to grow.
This is a very fast paced book and you won’t want to put it down. The characters are complex and layered, so nothing is quite predictable. Can’t wait for book 10!
