Third in the Alaska Oil Baron Harlequin series. It can be read as a single romance. Trysten takes on the role of family spokesperson. Isabeau, as his media consultant, must get her lusting thoughts for him under control. But then the two of them have an uncontrolled moment of passion and now there might be an unplanned baby. A secondary background story of Royce and Naomi takes an unexpected turn.
This book took to the very last page to come together. I was a bit worried but shouldn’t have been. These stories make me want to visit Juneau again and maybe stay awhile. The first time I was mostly just in the town and only saw the beautiful scenery from the shoreline of the cruise ship. On to the next story in the series.
"She'd spent countless hours in the company of naked and near-naked men in her profession as a media consultant."
But it didn't prepare Isabeau for sexy rancher and Alaskan mogul Trystan Mikkelson. The makeover is the easy part. Keeping her profesionnal distance is the real challenge.
"Those. Eyes. This. Man. Heaven help her. It was going to be a long month."
The public scene is not his forte so Trystan wonder why the family picked him to be the face of the new merged company. But all for family ; that's his motto, and the reason why he accepted begrudgingly to a makeover and to be the enterprise's spokesperson. But why not mix business with pleasure in asking Isabeau to be his date for his sister's wedding.
Trystan is making her feel safe. Something she fight every day to manage. He's never feel drawn to a woman the way he's with her, but Isabeau is used to hold herself apart from people. Will he be able to take down her barriers ?
This book came with a great surprise : a service-dog :) I love the "giving a character a name" for a good cause. Unfortunately, the story didn't completely lived up to my expectations. I should have guessed the pregnancy mentioned in the blurb would only happen toward the end and there was a sort of limbo in the romance where their relationship was on standby for too long. And trouble in paradise for a previous couple took too much space for my taste. Trystan was a very supportive hero. Honorable, honest and attentive too. I liked how the author showed a heroine with issues, without it taking over everything and I also liked the special bond between Isabeau and her working-dog.
“The Love Child” is book 3 of Catherine Mann’s drama-filled saga Alaskan Oil Barons.
In this installment Trystan Mikkelson is tasked to be the ‘face’ of the Mikkelson-Steele merger and Isabeau Waters is the image consultant to help Trystan go from jeans and flannel to suit and tie. Neither expect instant attraction followed by an intense, passionate night after a wedding. Trystan and Isabeau are perfect together. He’s a man of few words but manages to say the right ones when it matters. Isabeau goes after what she wants even when she’s scared of the risk.
In the “The Love Child”, Ms. Mann gives insight into the life of a service dog and the important job these animals do. We also check in with Royce and Naomi who had their HFN in “The Double Deal” and who will again be featured in book 4, “The Twin Birthright”.
“The Love Child” is about the strength of family and the power of love.
Catherine Mann is the face of the new Desire. Where one in her Alaska Oil Barons series ends the next one takes off. There isn’t always a HEA, but there are HFN. The even more fun part is catching up with the characters in the secondary storylines in new books. The HFN is put to the test in many cases. While officially this is Trystan and Isabeau’s story, it is so interwoven with the rest of family it is hard to know when one starts and the other ends. This is what makes this series so page-turning. This one definitely ends on a cliff-hanger. I want the next one now!
I just can’t get enough of this series ! Every book I read I discover my new favorite couple ! Trystan & Isabeau were quite the couple who immediately clicked& thier chemistry was crazy fun trying to balance professionalism! I love a romance that includes a medical condition of significance also that happens to require the heroine having a dog to assist with medical issues which was kind of fun too learn about . Naturally Trystan the alpha male was so alpha when It came to Isabeau & respectful of her independence ... the continued sagA of these Oil families merging & thier events are so fascinating & the Alaskan scenery portrayed has been the absolute best! There is a twist with a couple in this story that has me nervous but I’m sure Cathy Mann will come through for me ! Great book , great series!
This is the third book in CM's Alaskan Oil Barons series and my favorite so far. I really liked Trystan and Isabeau and her working dog Paige. This couple both have rough childhood backgrounds. They find their missing piece in each other. CM hit a homerun with this book! Highly recommended!
