She’s going to crush his resistance… For Micah, an Earth Elemental, there is too much noise, too much chaos down in the mortal world. He prefers solitude. This mission in the mountains is perfect for him, until a lovely human prospector shows up, and now he can’t stay away. He must guard the enemy portal while trying to keep her safe, and trying to keep his hands off her. Because each encounter, each touch, awakens urges he’s been denying for decades. But she knows nothing of his kind, the enemy that threatens to destroy the world, or the powers in her own blood.
He’s going to rock her world… Jade McNally will never fall for a mining partner again, especially not while she’s working herself to the bone trying to mine enough gemstones to pay for her mother’s care. She doesn’t have time to notice the huge muscles, sexy tattoos, or tender heart of the quiet man she’s hired to keep away claim jumpers. She notices anyway, and the closer she gets to her mysterious security guard, the more she realizes he has secrets; big ones. However, it turns out the most earth-shattering secret could be inside her.
Each book in this series can be read as a stand-alone; featuring a different couple with their own HEA ending. No cliffhangers! But your reading enjoyment will be greater if you start out with Book 1, BURN!

I received this book from the author who always lets me know when she’s finished with her newest book because she’s just that way! This is my honest review for which I receive no compensation of any kind.
And here begins the reveal…
The cover tells you that the book has explosive things happening and that the romance is hot, which it is.
The story is great. I love the way the two of them, Micah and Jade face off right from the start over the campsite, neither one willing to give an inch of ground. Literally on opposite sides of the campfire. They fight throughout the book over the slightest infractions of space, imagined or otherwise. Each is so on alert. For Micah, he has to guard against the Chaolt. He knows they will find the portal and slip through. He knows that Jade has a power that will attract them and they will drain her if they find her. Whereas Jade is trying to find enough crystals of high quality to be able to put her mother in a quality nursing home that will take care of her for the rest of her life. Her mother suffers from Alzheimer’s and Jade is her only support person. Being a teacher doesn’t give her the income to take care of her mother very well, and she worries about her all the time.
The pace stalls between the work at the claim and all the tension there between the two of them and the Chaolt and when Jade is at the nursing home with her mother going through memories of her father and mother at their claim. I had a hard time making my mind transfer back and forth. I got pulled into the nursing home scene and almost didn’t want to go back to the more vital scenes with Micah and the mountain. Also, there were times when I wondered if Jade wasn’t getting a bit nuts when she was digging for crystals the way she was talking to herself. Maybe obsessed is a better word for it.
I love the magic that Micah has that connects him to the earth, finding crystals, creating the crevasse, redirecting the landslide. Their connection is a golden thread and his eyes turn golden when their connection is complete and he needs her. He shows her the Earth power and shares everything about himself with her. Then he sings for her. That is his gift.
The tension suffers from having two peaks – the explosion at the mountain and then the baby. To a group of people who aren’t supposed to be able to procreate (Warriors are supposed to be sterile), Brooke’s baby is something of a miracle. Micah even sings for it. It will be interesting to see what the author does with that line as the baby grows.
Crush is Jayelle Morgan's third book in her Elemental Hearts series. I thank the author for the privilege of an ARC, and this voluntary review is my personal opinion. Micah is the Earth Elemental whose mission it is to guard the portal between Earth and Chaos. The portal is high up on a mountain peak, right near Jade's gem-mining claim. Jade is a teacher, geologist, and gem miner. She's also an Earth Erratic, a human with latent Earth powers, and therefore a target of the forces of Chaos. While Micah can't legally keep her from working her claim, he determines to keep her safe from the Chaolts who might come through the portal by draining her latent power. However, doing that safely requires touching her, and she doesn't even trust him enough to shake his hand. Micah must slowly win her trust to accomplish his goal, before the Chaolts can attack her. This is a remarkably character-driven romance, and I've never read a book more thoroughly imbued with the spirit of its main character. Micah and Jade are both paralyzed by grief and loss. He has a history of (supposedly) failed attempts at protecting Erratics. His nature is to protect and nurture, but his mission is to fight a war - to kill Chaolts - and the centuries of collateral damage to innocent humans weigh on his heart and his conscience. His inarticulate shyness will not let him share his grief or his guilt. Jade has lost family, lover, and property - she has only her mother, whose descent into Alzheimer's dementia robs Jade of hope and love even as her expensive care takes all Jade's time, energy and money. Fueled by betrayal and anger, she retreats into isolation and guilt. Micah's calm, patient protective nature erodes Jade's mistrust like wind and water erode rock. He sees the forces of Chaos gathering, knows the attack is coming, can't make Jade leave her claim, yet he must find a way to save her and keep the portal closed. Waiting for the climactic battle is like waiting for a volcano to erupt - the tension builds and builds, and even knowing what's coming, you can't put the book down. The whole book is an incredibly touching journey through grief and danger to love and peace.
Crush is the third book in Ms. Morgan’s Elemental Hearts Series and it features Micah, an Earth Elemental Warrior. Strong, silent, and dependable, Micah has been tasked with guarding the Chaos portal that is located on top of the nearby mountain. Independent and determined Jade needs the mountains, needs the gems found there, to help her mom. While they initially clash, Micah knows his first priority should be to the mission, but once trust is gained, will the mission continue to be first, or has Jade taken his heart?
Oh my goodness, I loooved Crush! These books are like a slow burn that dig into your heart a piece at a time and then swallow you whole. These books could be real people living these real emotions. It might not be insta-love, but it has all the makings of falling in love, if only Micah and Jade could take the chance. Similar interests, compatibility, being comfortable, but it all comes down to the trust in themselves and each other. It’s beautiful to read. I loved Micah, big, silent, but so caring. All the hurt he’s experienced, I just wanted to give him a huge hug. Jade was strong and so independent, but was slowly learning it’s okay to not always be alone and to open her heart to others. Together, they were perfect, the ending made my heart happy, but make sure to bring tissues. While this book could probably stand alone, I think it’s best read in the series order. I highly recommend this book/series and I am happy to give my honest review!
Can Micah find his happiness while still dwelling in the past?
Micah is in charge of watching over the Chaolt portal that is located on top of a mountain. Because he is an Earth elemental, he can move the rocks and earth. While he is at the mountain,a woman comes up to his camp site. Jade can't believe that she has to share a campsite with someone else. She is there to mine her claim in order to gems to help pay for her mother's care. No one is going to stop her, not even the huge, gorgeous man that is warning her of danger. The past interferes in both Micah and Jade's chances at the happiness that could be between them. The Chaolt also play a significant part in this story by causing chaos and trying to destroy a city. The book started a little slow but then picked up. Micah may not communicate well with his words but every thought and action was heartfelt. He is a very understanding, calming, loving but very shy man. He and Jade had me in tears a couple times in this story. I think these stories just keep getting better. Next is Rowan's book but I desperately want to know what happened in Walker's past. Can't wait to read more!
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Crush is Book 3 in the Elemental Hearts series by Jayelle Morgan. This is my first Jayelle Morgan read. Despite the fact that I did not read the previous books in this series, I really didn't feel lost. I certainly want to go backwards as I believe that the storyline is enhanced by reading the books in order, but with that said.... I really enjoyed the book. I love the chemistry between Jade and Micah. From interest to flaming the pages, there is something for everyone. Action, drama, romance, denial, sex and highly charged emotional situations. From the moment I picked this book up I couldn't put it down. I highly recommended read for the weekend when you can sit and enjoy the romp uninterrupted!
I really liked this well written story! The characters in this book were so easy to like! They were a great match and it was so nice to be able to enjoy their discovery of each other as the storyline unfolds! I have come to love this series and truly can't wait for the next release! While I was given an early release of this book, I purchased my own copy in support of this authors talent!
Micah is the strong silent warrior, preferring his solitude. Though that's all about to change when he meets the beautiful Jade. Jade is one determined woman set on a goal, and as she works to meet it. He protects her from the danger on the mountain. Great story love the chemistry between Jade and Micah. Can't wait for the next book.
The perfect combination of romance and elemental magic will have you begging for more. Jade is a mortal, unaware of the magic she holds deep within. And Micah is an Elemental, a Warrior tasked with keeping the world safe from the Chaos, which is always threatening, drawn to the erratic energies humans carry. The result is explosive!
There were a few typos throughout, but this was by far the best and my favorite book in the series! I read it all in one sitting because I simply couldn’t put it down. Micah is hands-down, my favorite Elemental, and he and Jade are very sweet together.
I absolutely loved this book. I loved Micah before but even more now. He is amazing. Jade (I love that her name is Jade and she digs for gems) is emotionally scarred but truly loving and strong. A lot like Micah actually. The slow growth of their relationship makes this book hard to put down. Their connection to earth and to eachother is powerful. The attraction is immediate but the love grows from molehill to mountain and everlasting. I read it straight through and although I was exhausted, I wished for more. I can hardly wait for the next book in this series. So good.
