There are certain authors that you gravitate to their books because of their unique writing and storytelling style, Ms. Piper Stone is one of those authors. She has a way of pulling you into the storyline, with fascinating characters, interaction, mystery, suspense, angst, action, and romance. Her new series of Smokejumpers will keep you entertained, guessing, and pages turning as the story unfolds. In the prequel, Fire at the River's Edge, we had a glimpse into three lives, Stoker Hanson, Landen Weaver, and Garcia Puevos.
Garcia Puevos chose to become a smokejumper after college when he and several friends were rescued during flash floods, and the man who saved them was a smokejumper. It changed his life. Now he is part of the Jackals Smokejumping team in Missoula, Montana.
Laney Cavanaugh is a woman with many secrets and past that is haunting. She has been hiding and even allowing her parents to believe she perished in her house fire to protect them and herself. But has her past started catching up with her and is she in danger again?
The plot will have Garcia and Laney meeting when she has a flat tire on a deserted road, and he stops to help her. She is spooked by unknown number phone calls where the caller won’t talk. Making plans and getting things together, she may be running again. Dealing with a charismatic widower of one of her students has her feeling uncertain, while he is charming, he also leaves her feeling uncomfortable.
When Garcia shows up to her school to talk to her classroom about fire safety, she sees a side of him she likes. Meeting again by chance at Ziggy’s will lead to more and the beginning of a relationship. When he sees her diary and reads her latest entry, she is incensed he violated her privacy, until he makes her fantasy a reality. Two people who each want a unique relationship that include discipline will learn that they are just right for each other, and through the spanking, passion.

Garcia will witness the fear when Laney gets the unknown caller phone calls and steps in to protect her. While she isn’t willing to tell him everything, he senses that there is trouble and she is genuinely afraid. When a smokejumper dies during training because of budgeting issues, Garcia will second guess his career choice and is willing to quit and walk away.

The new relationship between Garcia and Laney is full of passion and chemistry when they are together, but do that have what it takes to stay together and confront the demons? There are also intimate scenes with mild elements of dominance and submission, along with a couple of spankings, and explicit sex scenes.

Forged is the third book in Piper Stone’s Missoula Smokejumper series. It is about smokejumper Garcia Puevos and his lady love Lacey Cavanaugh. Garcia and Stoker are out horseback riding when they come upon a ranch fire and save a rancher’s life as well as his horses, but Garcia suspects that it wasn’t an accident.

The book Forged is an excellent story! Although part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone as well. The plot had many twists and turns and kept me guessing from the start of this page turner. The story brought fear with heart stopping moments, sadness with tears and heartache, happiness that made your hearts huge with joy and brought many smiles, along with fun that filled many parts with laughs brought on with the interplay of the characters. These characters were old characters as well as new ones. They were complex and showed their many sides. Part of what made the story so special was the friendships not only between the jackals; but also, the women they loved. They were tight with those they worked with as their lives depended on each other but also protective of their women and those that surrounded them. I loved that the story took an unexpected turn with the plot and the people involved and also included plenty of spankings as well. Overall the author gave the reader a fabulous book with great length and I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series! I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book!

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the third book in the Missoula Smoke Jumpers. In this book, Garcia is starting to question what he is missing in his life and if he really wants to continue to be a smoke jumper. The team are facing budget cuts and an uncertain future. When Garcia goes to the local elementary school to visit the children, he meets the beautiful woman who he helped the day before with a flat tire. Laney is a school teacher and she is hiding from her past. When she sees Garcia, she was first scared until he helped her and then she couldn't get him out of mind. When he showed up to talk to the kids, she was even more intrigued. Laney and Garcia have a connection and they would like to continue to see each other, but Laney is scared her past has found her and danger will come to Garcia. In the meantime, there are some fires that have Garcia thinking things are what they seem and the more he looks into things, the more they don't make sense. I enjoy this series. I love the strong alpha males and the way they love and protect those they care for. There is danger and suspense, as well as some really steamy scenes. Great series.

Hiding from the past
The female Lahney? She is kind of a mystery in the story and it takes the whole story to figure out what happened. There were a few bits I wish were expanded and others that maybe could a been skipped... The part with him teaching fire safety to her class I really wanted that in the story but it just gets skipped... I think there was potential for a bit of humour that got missed there. But the part where the parachute doesn't work was pretty intense... The missing other Captain was another mystery that never really got resolved. The whole investigation into the faulty equipment it just pretty much disappeared from this story after it was introduced... I know they did some fires in this story but clearly it was more focused on the shady gangster from Lahney's past. It is a good story pretty much keeping the excitement up throughout. There are fires, gunfights, truck chases. Horse riding, and investigating, along with spankings too. Oh and the question of if the Jackels get funding or disbanded. And there is a wedding too. So it has a lot happening.

This book is about a special fire unit, called the smokejumpers. Garcia is working there, but he is doubting what he really wants.
He has to do a class visit and meets Laney the teacher again and sparks fly. First time they meet he helps her with car trouble, but she is afraid of him.
Her past is playing up and it is a nasty one. Her parents even think she is death, because she had to keep low after the fire which burned her house down. The mob is still after her it seems. That is why even though she and Garcia have very hot times together and he is giving her what she wants and needs, him dominating her, she can't give herself totally to him. This because she is afraid her past is catching up.
Next to that Garcia is trying to find out what the thing is with certain fires, he just has this feeling something is wrong.
Will everything turn out fine in the end?
For that you have to read the book. You won't regret it, it is a great one.

Forged is book three in the Missoula Smokejumpers series. Each book is standalone, but as you meet the characters of the former books I would recommend you read the books in the order they were released. In this book we meet schoolteacher Laney and smokejumper Garcia.
Laney nearly runs Garcia off the road when her car spins because of a flat tire. Of course, he helps her. The next day they meet again at the school and this is the beginning of their relationship with many bumps along the road. They both do have a pretty dark past and they have to fight to overcome all this so their relationship will last.
Like with all the other Missoula Smokejumpers books, there is a lot of action, mystery and suspense. The love scenes and spankings are hot and the characters do have great chemistry. I loved reading this book from the beginning to the satisfying end.

Ms Stone is a talented storyteller. This story was riviting and I had a very hard time putting the book down. I have read everyone of the books in this series and each of them have had some of the same characters but have had there own storyline for that reason I think that this book could be read as a stand alone. Garcia Puevos is a smokejumper and Laney Cavanaugh is a school teacher with a dark past. They both meet one day when as Laney is driving home she gets a flat tire and almost runs Garcia off the road the next day they meet again when Garcia goes to the school to give a talk on being a smokejumper and it happens that it is for Laney's class this is only the beginning for Garcia and Laney's relationship. This story is beautifully written and engaging.

Both Garcia and Laney are both lost, Garcia just doesn't know what he wants or what direction to go in even though his loves his fellow Jackals while Laney has been on the run for a long time and doesn't trust anyone. They meet when she gets a flat tire and while not trusting him gives a false name alas she sees him again and has to fess up to it when he meets her while going to give a talk to the class she teachers. The fact we really don't know what she is running from for awhile in the book gives some great suspense as well as being unsure who Troy really is or his motives. There are plenty of times you wonder if Laney is going to split and leave Garcia while he still tries and to help her as well as save his team before they are no more.

This was a pretty good book. Laney was running from a past which held a dark secret. Garcia was floundering, not sure if he should continue to be a smokejumper, or sure about what his future should hold.
Garcia and Laney had a combustible chemistry and they satisfied each other's needs. This story was full of mystery, suspense, action and intrigue. You get to experience the smokejumpers love of family and loyalty.
I just wish the writer had included what happened to Troy. Laney's tale was a little confusing, but the writer pulled the pieces together at the end. This is not a short book, but the story will keep you engaged.

This is a great series and this was a great addition to the series. Garcia has been an entertaining character and a ladies’ man, so it was great to read his love story. Laney has a haunted past and is afraid of getting involved with Garcia yet he fulfills All her needs and desires. Garcia knows Laney is the one,now he needs to help her get beyond her past.
This was a great read and had enough twists and turns to keep you guessing and flipping the pages. This is a fantastic series!

I just love this series. These can be read as standalone s but if you are like me it is better to read them in order. I also love it that this author writes them that way instead of cliffhangers. She has a haunted past and secrets. He has problems also. But they both hit it off really well. It is exciting, suspenseful, fun, emotional and so much more. And has some twists and that makes it so you can't put it down. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.

Garcia Puevos is with the Jackals Smokejumping team in Missoula, Montana, and Laney Cavanaugh is a teacher with things in her past that she is hiding from. This book has suspense, danger, drama, bad guys, arson would I recommend this series the answer is YES! This is the third book in the series and they just keep getting better and better.This book is Garcia's story he became a smokejumper after being saved with some of his friends from a flash flood.Laney is a teacher she is all alone she has been hiding for years and has let her family believe she is dead to keep them safe.These two meet when she has car trouble and he helps her they meet again when he shows for fire safety course and decided to meet up they have tons of chemistry but with her past catching up with her will they have a chance to be together.A great read I just loved it

A well written story that surprised me in all the best ways. It has a great storyline and plot. The characters are well described and likeable. They develop nicely through the story.

WOW better than book 1 and book 2. Garcia is the typical fireman with alot on his mind and contemplating his role is life... Laney is a second grade teacher that uses the stereotype to hid behind because she has a past that she doesnt want to catch up with her. We all know how that works out but in this case it helps fuel the fires between the two characters to the point the reader will have to have a whole lot of will power to put this book down.....

This is the first book I have read by this author, although it is book 3in the series. I didn't feel like I missed anything. Laney is hiding from her past and Garcia a smokejumper is trying to find his place in the world. Loved this story, lots of twists and turns. I could not put it down. I want more. I'm gonna have to go read the other 2.

Fantastic book!!
A beautifully written story with mystery, suspense, love and some steamy sexy scenes. I loved reading this book and couldn't put it down until I finished it!! The characters were great. The men were strong, loving, dominating and very sexy. The women were also strong, loving and beautiful inside and out.

Loved this plot as well as the series But can be read as a standalone but highly recommend you go back and read the other 2 books. If you enjoy suspense, mystery, erotic and intense interactions between the main characters then this is the story for you. Read this book, you will enjoy and want to read the rest of the series.

Garcia meets Laney and they find they have an instant attraction. He’s a smoke jumper she teaches 2nd grade. They both have secrets, it’s fun to watch them unravel them. The sciences and hot and steamy. I would definitely recommend. Looking forward to reading more of this series.

I have to say this one is my favor so far out of the series. I felt so much for the main characters and so wanted them to get their HEA. I would definitely recommend this series. I love it so much.

I loved this story!! The suspense and the love was so hot I was afraid my kindle would catch fire. Can not wait to see what happens to the rest of the team

Laney Cavanaugh, she’s been running so long she know nothing else. Garcia Puevos, being a smokejumper is everything to him, at least it was until it wasn’t … when they meet it’s like “Wildfire”. They’re perfect … destined … unless the nefarious … get … their …way! I have been waiting for Garcia’s story and holy moly was it ever worth the wait! The writing is divine, the plot everything you could ask for, fast moving, mysterious, THRILLING and action packed! My heart was pounding, my entire being edgy, awake and breathless far into the night! The characters are beautifully crafted, believably human, their dialogue so natural, so believable! I loved everything about Laney and Garcia. I wanted their happily ever after, I wanted their demons gone, and the bad guys sixty feet under! Did I get my wish? You’ll have to listen and see, but trust me, that will not be a hardship thanks to smooth, polished, emotive narration perfectly bringing the authors vision to vibrant life! A stunning five stars across the board. I loved it.
