Dixie James moved cross country with her beloved dog, Amos. Determined to heal after the unexpected deaths of her parents, she is grateful that her longtime friend, Annie, still lives in Cherokee. Annie, who has been there for everything, great and small, in her life. Annie, who got her cabin back in order after the tenants trashed the place. When Amos gets sick unexpectedly, Annie once again comes to the rescue, giving her the number for the local vet. Isaac Hamilton is lonely. He’s also overworked and at the brink of exhaustion, being the only local vet. He never expected his world to turn upside down when he met Dixie. Yet, he’s drawn to her and despite his chaotic schedule, he makes time to get to know her and it’s not long before he realizes that she’s the one for him. Wedding bells ring but when faced with a tragedy, will they spend all their Christmases together?
Lover of words. Author of "perfectly imperfect romance". Since starting this journey in August 2016, I've published eight books, two children's books, and have been part of two different coloring books. In short, I'm fulfilling a lifelong dream and would love to have you join me!
I absolutely loved this book and was pulled right from the start. I felt everything the characters did, so if they laughed I did, if they cried, so did I and it was like that right throughout the book. I will earn you though, I started with the tears in the prologue. There are surprises in this story some you will see coming and others you won't. But take it from me if you decide to read it you will not be sorry. So worth the five stars I have given it. I will be looking into other books from Darlene Tallman.
I've enjoyed all of Darlene Tallman's books, and this was no exception. It begins with the heroine tragically loosing her parents in an accident, and then making the decision to move across the country to a cabin owned by her parents. She spent her childhood summers in this cabin with her family, and it's also where her best friend lives.
Dixie meets Isaac, the local vet, when her dog gets sick in the middle of the night. When there is an immediate attraction between the two, they start going out. Turns out, Dixie is everything Isaac needs. She is supportive, understanding and loving. And Isaac is everything Dixie ever wanted. This story is probably about the sweetest love story ever!
Throughout their story, there are good times, and bad times, twists and turns. It shows how a good relationship is supposed to be, not only between a man and woman, but between best friends. It also shows that family is the one that you make, and with good friends, you really are never alone. It demonstrates small town living at its very best, and makes me nostalgic for home and childhood!
When Dixie finds herself alone she decides to move back to Cherokee to be close to her best friend in a place where she has happy memories of the family she lost.
Isaac is the town vet who keeps to himself and doesn’t let anyone too close primarily because he hasn’t met anyone that he was willing to arrange his schedule for.
When Dixie needs to take her dog to the vet she and Isaac have an instant connection. They are perfect for each other as she helps him realize that there is more to life than work and he helps her heal. Their journey has its ups and down but the outcome makes it so worth it.
This is a heartwarming story about healing, romance and love that doesn’t disappoint.
Dixie us rocked to her core after a tragic accident. Told by her dad to start over in the town her parents grew up in she is rooted almost cross country. When her dog became sick she was able to get him into the vet right away. Where she meets Issac. A very handsome vet and recently single. He sees how she cares so much for her dog she left the house in such a rush she had her pajamas on. That draws him in to ask her out. This book is a very sweet romance.
I truly loved this book and the story. many people take foegranted that they have family and friends to lean on at a certain point in their life Dixie had a wonderful friend that was there for her whole life. this was a sweet and loving story that really pulled at your heartstrings. yet another great read provided by Darlene Tallman...
I loved this book and it was a pleasure to read. Emotions well described and such a well rounded description of Community/unconditional regard and support. Some passages were so beautiful they deserved rereading, alongside descriptions that prompted smaller and appreciation. Recommended
Annie and Isaac were so perfect. The love and support that he gave her through everything was just amazing. I matter what happened and no matter what was going on in both their lives they found......balance. This story was a reminder to not forget to love and don't let life just push you through, find your balance.
Sniff. Sniff. This book is everything. It has everything. I started it with tears and I finished it the same way. And I loved every moment. All of the relationships were so good. So important. It’s a wholesome love story with so much impact. I loved every moment and every relationship - friends, pets, lovers - forever. So good! 💜
What a beautiful read. I laughed, I cried, I smiled a lot. Enough to make my husband ask if I was okay. This is such a wonderful heartwarming story, Andi can't wait to read Annie's.
Dixie kept her promise and moved back to her patents cabin. Isaac is a workaholic. When a emergency and a good friend bring these two together you cant help but follow their love for each other as they work on building their relationship.
i loved the book! didnt know if i should cry, laugh or punch someone. she lost her parents. now she has moved to be with her best friend. she meets the vet when her dog gets sick. they start a relationship, but there is a person trying to come between them.
A real love story from page 1 until the end. I love the writing and the connection between the characters. Darlene has written this story with love for the characters. It pulled me in from the start and gives you a nice warm feeling. Recommend this
She moves to the small town where she spent her childhood summers with her best friends Annie and Pete. When her beloved dog gets sick she rushes him to the local vet.Follow their romance.
I think I like Darlene’s stand alone book more even than her MC books. This one is an excellent read, so much love and tenderness, no cheating, a little OW drama but just enough. Highly recommend.
Dixie comes home after her parents death to her best friend Annie and meets Isaac the local vet. What a beautiful story about like time friend and finding everlasting love.
