Ian Whybrow is a British writer of children's books, first published in 1989. He has written over 100 books for children, has been translated into 27 languages and is published in 28 countries. His books are humorous and range from picture books to novels, short stories and poetry.

I love Little Wolf, which is great, because my parents said "WHAT did you borrow from the library?" and I said, shrug, shrug, maybe it's only for the young at heart, har, har. A big arrroooo! to all of Little's friends: Yeller Wolf, Stubbs Crow, and Normus Bear--and Smellybreff. I think they make the series better in each successive book. Once again, the villain smells like pepper, but this time Little faces him on the high seas! Which gives Smells the perfect opportunity to learn about gunpowder, ooo-er. I adore Stubbs' sparkling vocabulary of association, kiss, kiss. Yeller would say, "WE HAVE TO FIND THE TREASURE, LICKLE," instead. I don't believe I've read the volume where son numero un (French) meets Normus, but his size and strength compliment the wolves' conniving well.

Little Wolf writes in a very particular way, which I've always assumed would reassure young kids reading his letters, with their splotches and crossed-out misspellings. His English follows strict rules unlike any other English I've read, in line with his equally-unique worldview and sense of appropriate maybe-boarding-school activities. Little Wolf's Diary of Daring Deeds will always be my favorite LW adventure, but his writing and absurd friendships have strengthened since those travels, as has their funniness. Who wouldn't appreciate a letter written in the "Cupboard (where they keep the buckets, mops, etc.), Up the Pointy End [of a ship]" or "In the Sea (the wide part)"? If you've enjoyed the other books, you'll love this just as much; if you've never read Little Wolf before, start with Little Wolf's Haunted Hall for Small Horrors and proceed in any order, hint, hint.

Мій синочок обожнює піратів. В нас є величезний лего корабель, шапка пірата і маленькі лего піратики, розмальованки, і звичайно книги 
Книгу Іана Уайброу "Піратська книга Малого Вовчика" ми проковтнули за два дні. Син сидів слухав і майже не ворушився. 
В ній настільки гарно і захоплююче описані піратські пригоди Вовчика, що неможливо відірватись від читання. 
Головне для Пірата це карта, і вона є в книзі. Велика, з точним маршрутом до заповітної мрії - острова зі Скарбами. Синок роздивлявся її довго і слідкував за пересування Вовчика і його друзів.
Здається в цій книзі наш Вовчик став ще хоробрішим і безстрашнішим. Не лякають його ні акули, ні жорстокі пірати. Він впевнено йде до своєї мети і вірні друзі завжди поруч з ним.
В своїх листах до матусі і татуся Вовчик робить значно менше граматичних помилок, що радує і полегшує читання.
Майже на кожній сторінці є малюнки, які доповнюють пригоди і дозволяють розширити політ фантазії. 
Рекомендує книгу. Вона дуже цікава і навіть дуже непосидючих дітей вона зацікавить і спонукатиме всидіти на місці.

Ахой, моряци! Нова книга дясно на борд! Сухоземните плъхове Иън Уайброу и Чичо Коля Воронцов отново са тук, а заедно с тях е и един малък вълк. Този път – малък МОРСКИ вълк! Издателство „Миранда” и попътният вятър довяха насам шестото и последно приключение от илюстрованата детска поредица, която зорко следим от върха на мачтата. This Little Wolf book made me laugh out loud multiple times, and has a much better plot than the last one I read. I'm glad that I requested this one from ILL last, because it was a terrific way to finish this series from my childhood.
