Algumas pessoas se opõem a fazer votos, mas na Bíblia você encontrará muitos grandes homens de Deus dirigidos por convênio, votos e promessas. O salmista não era avesso à tomada de votos: "Seus votos estão sobre mim, ó Deus", disse ele. "Eu te louvarei" (Salmo 56:12).
O meu conselho nesta matéria é que, se você estiver realmente preocupado com a melhoria espiritual - a conquista de um novo poder, de uma nova vida, de uma nova alegria e de um novo avivamento pessoal dentro do seu coração - você fará bem em fazer certos votos e continuar a mantê-los. Se você falhar, descer com humildade e se arrepender e começar de novo. Mas sempre mantenha esses votos antes de você. Eles ajudarão a harmonizar seu coração com os vastos poderes que fluem para fora e para fora do trono onde Cristo está sentado à direita de Deus.

After coming to Christ at the age of seventeen, Tozer found his way into the Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination where he served for over forty years. In 1950, he was appointed by the denomination's General Council to be the editor of "The Alliance Witness" (now "Alliance Life").
Born into poverty in western Pennsylvania in 1897, Tozer died in May 1963 a self-educated man who had taught himself what he missed in high school and college due to his home situation. Though he wrote many books, two of them, "The Pursuit of God" and "The Knowledge of the Holy" are widely considered to be classics.
A.W. Tozer and his wife, Ada Cecelia Pfautz, had seven children, six boys and one girl.

Very timely and heartfelt
On a personal note I was dying from the Hong Kong flu in the sixties I was only 14 I made a vow to God and that was the first time ever heard his voice or ugly and he healed me amendment scene this book helps me to refocus and understand what it takes to maintain a bow to accomplish it and the cost which is daily you will enjoy it he will be focused you will be strengthened you will understand the cost that is required to the walk and be blessed of God in every way.

Simple, but Profound
If there was ever a man or woman who was or is able to distill the true components of Christianity, it is A.W. Tozer. He will not
leave you where he found you as you begin to read and apply what you have read what Tozer imparted to you, those truths that God, through the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost imparted to Tozer.
Tozer was the human conduit through which the Holy Spirit transmitted His wisdom and knowledge to the person who was hungry for a taste of the Spirit-filled life now and on into eternity.

Excellent - Inspiring
Definitely motivated me to go write the 5 vows down and really pray through each one while giving action to each vow. Can definitely see how I will grow from this. I believe we need to return to our older sound writers like Tozer, Lewis, Spurgeon etc instead of wasting time on contemporary writers who change their position with God due to the temperature of the culture

Great Message and very timely!
People want Christ without the cross. In America we peddle greasy grace that promises fire insurance with no cross to bear. Jesus said if anyone will come after Him they must take up their cross daily and follow Him. It is not legalism. It is loving God with all your heart, soul, and strength.

easy read, deep materiall
This is a good book. Awfully short, it is to the point. I think the author could have went into more detail about his subject. By the time I was getting into the material, it was the end of the book.

2. Never Own Anything Everything you own is God's since you work for him. Don't let possessions be a ball and chain. Or in the words of Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club, "The things you own end up owning you."
3. Never Defend Yourself You don't have to fight because God does that for you. See Exodus 23:22 and Isaiah 54:17.
4. Never Pass Anything On About Anybody Else That Will Hurt Him self explanatory

How close do you want to walk with GOD?

It's more of a pamphlet than a book, but it is fully a great revelation. Make the Five Vows and be ready for a journey in your relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
