Rebecca Doogan is a romance novelist with a problem… she has no romance in her life. After a savage beating at the hands of her husband, Rebecca meets a stranger named Brendan. Rebecca must decide if he is truly the man of her dreams or if she is slowly going insane and retreating to the make believe worlds that she creates in her novels.
Rebecca’s current novel is a love story that crosses the ages. A man vows revenge for the death of the woman he loves and makes a pact with the devil. He searches throughout time for the reincarnated soul of his lost love. Rebecca’s question is if a story is just a story…
I really tried to give this book a shot and did manage to finish it, but if it had been much longer I probably would have thrown in the towel (& I rarely don't finish a book). The premise was alright, but getting to the point of where it all made sense took the majority of the book and it was very anticlimactic and flat. The bulk of the story seemed forced and very repetitive (a character's action only needs to be mentioned once). I'll be honest - when I started reaching the italicized sections (the 'book's the main character was writing), I started to skim/skip because after the first introduction I was not a fan. To be truthful, I probably will never read something by this author again.
First time reader of this author Very different take on a story line I must say I was bored half way through and considered not finishing But I persisted and did enjoy it in the end
The story has a flow and energy issue. Some parts I liked others where wth. There seems some pulling together at the latter points in the book, but can't put my finger on it. Like the author was distracted. Maybe the author was writing from dreams.
