Blood Will Tell by Colleen S. Myers is the first book of the Blood series. The series a bit of a young adult/new adult paranormal fantasy mixed with science fiction and romance. The main character in here, Isabelle, is only eighteen but she was married young so the content in here is definitely meant for an older more mature audience with numerous sexual situations.

At the beginning of the story Isa finds herself sick to her stomach and stays home with her mother for the day only to awaken to alerts of a virus going out on the television. Isa wakes her mother who rushes the pair off to safety.

Then the story takes a six year jump and joins Isa in a walled city surrounded by vampires who are now in control. Isa has been forced into a marriage at a young age and she’s lost her mother in the time span that passed.

Now Isa is approached by a vampire named Roke who seems to have a message from her mother but Isa doesn’t know how that is possible since she died. For some reason Isa finds herself trusting Roke though so when he says to come with him and he’ll protect her she believes it.

The story is a very fast paced read that jumps right into the action and does the world and character building along the way as events go flying by. The normal vampire rules are out the door as this one takes on a science fiction edge to everything involved with viruses and DNA manipulation and more mixed in.

Along with the sexual content warning I would also warn readers of a love triangle forming in this first book of the series for those that are opposed to them. This would be one that I didn’t actually mind it myself and even went back and forth on which I would even root for. In the end I would rate this opener at 3.5 stars and I was certainly curious what will happen in the rest of the series as this one only opened doors for so much more with a bit of a cliffhanger end leaving questions for the next book.

I received an advance copy from the author and Barclay Publicity.

This is a different world, a world ruled and owned by vampires.
Prior to the Madness in 2019 the vampire clans lived in enclaves. But the Madness allowed them to take control, to take over. Now they live in the cities surrounded by walls made of pure steel, a hundred feet high sealing everyone in.
The humans are controlled. They give blood every month to the city keeper. They work ten hours a day, exercise two hours a day regardless of weather, eat food that’s barely edible and take vitamins daily and physicals monthly.
All women of reproductive age are forced to marry, regardless of age.

The book opens in 2019 on the day that Madness strikes. Isabelle is twelve years old.

The next chapter takes place in 2025, six years later. We catch up with Isabelle and discover she lost her mother at fourteen the same age she was forced to marry. She was just sixteen when she discovered she was pregnant. Which was the reason for the forced matings the vampires wanted children after all that was the reason for the forced matings.

Isabelle is living a lie and everyone seems to know but her.

This is an interesting book with some fascinating world building and characters.

I enjoyed this and fully intend to continue on with this series.
Getting the balance of a book right is an art, I know I complain if a book is too slow, too fast or jumpy, if the balance of sex to story ratio is out etc and very occasionally I’ll complain a book just has too much going on and that’s a little how I felt here.

I know what you’re thinking I’m picky and never satisfied.
I obviously don’t know what’s to come the author could have a whole host of surprises waiting in the next book for us. I just felt I’d rather have slowed this down a bit, settled into the characters a little more and kept the last surprise for later. We all knew it was coming but I’d have preferred to hold off. After all we’d had so many already.

But seriously don’t let that put you off this is an interesting read which keeps up a good pace and I’m looking forward to seeing where it’s going.

I’m always looking for something new in paranormal fiction and spotted this new adult book that mixes science with romance. Now I’m going to say straight away if triangles bug you then be prepared to gnash your teeth as Isa is an annoying can’t stop leading on type of heroine. Still she does live in a truly terrifying society with humans seen as cattle so I can understand wanting to grab at happiness. Forced to marry at fifteen and then losing the boy she had always trusted sees Isa on the run with the quintessential brooding Vampire Roke and his friend Alex who is a boat captain but honestly I thought he made a rather sweet river pirate! I don’t wish to spoil the plot but Isa has a lot to learn about herself and exactly why it seems everyone is chasing her.
I hate saying this but I didn’t like Isa which makes this a difficult review. Plus Roke felt one dimensional and Alex somehow felt so very juvenile. Now add in that everyone is madly in love with Isa ( why?) and have creepily been spying on her for years and honestly I’m thinking does this girl have a magic hoo ha ? I did finish this but I’m not sure if I will read anymore and there has to be a follow up because the end was absolutely bonkers but to find out more you need to read this book.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Blood will tell is the first novel in a new series by Colleen S. Myers. The blurb made the story sound very interesting and I was looking forward to read it, but I ended up disliking the book if not hating it. For most of the story, we see three people, our heroine Isabelle, a human named Alex and Roke a vampire. And guess what. There is a love triangle with the three of them involved. Isn't that great? No. The triangle is always present and it was annoying. Isabelle could have spent her time doing more productive things like finding out the truth, training or even making a decision on which man is the right one for her. I really hope that the main focus of the next book will be the war between humans and vampires and not Isabelle's love life. Love triangles are not my thing. I would have liked to have the world explained in more detail since everything seemed to cover just the surface. I wouldn't recommend the book, but my opinion might change when I read the second book. I am not familiar with the author's writing style and maybe that's the reason I wasn't a big fan of the book, other than the love triangle.

OMG! Colleen Myers knows how to write strong Sci-fi romance! This story revolves around Isabelle (Isa), Roke (a Vampire guard) and Alex (ships captain). Isa had a loving family once. Then suddenly the Madness took over, her father is dead and her mother was killed not long after. Now Vampire Clans rule areas and humans are their food source. Humans work, exercise and give blood. That is all. Isa wants to escape. She tries one night and is "caught" by Roke who has been watching and protecting Isa since her mother has died. He lets her know that the ship she was going to escape on was a trap. He helps her get to a real ship...Alex's ship and together the two men smuggle Isa out. Why do both men know so much about Isa. Because Isa is famous. Her parents were scientists and her father changed her DNA. Now the Vampire clan she "belongs" to wants her back... really bad...she is important leverage in something much bigger. Isa needs to figure out what all of it means.

Myers has a fabulous way of writing suspenseful love triangles. Should Isa love Roke...he is a vampire for heaven's sake or human Alex? Both are in love with her and she really has feelings for both. This is an ongoing story so cliffhanger BIG time. I can not believe how fast I read this book. I could not put it down. Can not wait for the next book!! Myers is Queen of the Suspenseful Sci-Fi Romance hands down!!!

Blood Will Tell: The Blood is Key (The Blood Series Book 1) by Colleen S. Myers is her first book in her The Blood series. This is my first book by this author and I am excited to see what she has next for us readers. I loved this book. I loved how this author pulled me right into the story and keep me engaged until the end. This is a fast paced story that kept me turning pages until the end. Her characters took me on an emotional roller coaster ride with all the twists and turns that are going on. They are both connectable and lovable. This is the story of Isabelle. There is a war going on between the human race and immortals and Isabelle is the key to the whole thing. Unknown to Isabelle, her father had inserted a strain of DNA into her body that makes her resistant to vampires. These characters are strong willed and strong headed. Isabelle can be a little sensitive at times but others, she if just as feisty as any man. To me is a little bit of a mystery and I wanted to learn a little more about him. The hero of this story is a hot, sexy vampire that you will have to read this story to find out more of him. His job is to protect her which isn't an easy job. What will happen between these two? Isabelle has trust issues but will she trust him? I found myself pulling for these two even though they seem to be opposites. But sometimes opposites attract. There are some other characters in this book that I didn't necessarily care for but they added to the thriller part of the story. There is no doubt that I was left sitting on the edge of my seat a few times because of the characters. I highly recommend this book. Find out what happens to Isabelle and how she is the key to the war.

This book really had a lot going on, it felt rushed and I think I would have really enjoyed it without the kinda sorta love triangle or really any romance at all. Now this is odd because I always like romance sprinkled on my paranormal but I feel like it took away from the story line. Books that detail vampirism as a virus always intrigue me, I loved The Strain trilogy. But it felt weird to have all these sorta insta-love feelings in the middle of a story where they were just trying to survive. For me personally I would have liked to see these feelings evolve maybe after several books. And maybe without a love triangle, love triangles don't bother me really but this one just seemed a little weird. However, I really like the world created, a world basically ruled over by vampires where humans do all the work and nearly live as slaves. The science behind the Imortalis virus was great. I think if the romantic feelings had been cut down just a little this book would have easily been a five star read for me.
I won this book from the giveaways at Goodreads.

or some reason, I don't remember that synopsis being the one I read before agreeing to review this...because it just doesn't sound like my cup of tea - but I can't find any other synopsis. I'm making that point because the given synopsis sounds incredibly cliched and I feel like that could turn some people away from the story.

Blood Will Tell was strangely addicting and once I started reading, I became sucked into a futuristic world where vampires ruled. This gave me flash backs to Julie Kagawa's Blood of Eden trilogy which is one of my favorite series ever - but the only real connection we get is the vampire and futuristic society. More on the writing - Colleen S. Myers does a fantastic job building tension and moving the story forward so that the readers are constantly interested to find out what happens next.

My only qualm with this book was the romance. I enjoyed the characters individually but the romance became such a big factor of the story to the point where it detracted the value of the plot. There is so much happening the Myers is telling us which is propelling the story forward, but because we're focused on Isabelle and whether she should be with Roke or Alex. I'm not opposed to love triangles if they are done right and this one was fine to a point but it took up too much of the story.

As this is the first book in a series, I am intrigued to see how the story progresses particularly with that slightly frustrating (and a bit cliched) of an ending. The story is full of very commonly found elements but for some reason it was still so addicting to read so I think it's still worth a shot.

First I would like to state that I received this book through the Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. I would like to thank the author for giving me this opportunity and honor in being able to read this book. When I received this book I began reading it at once. I really enjoy the authors writing style, the author pulls you into the book from the very beginning and makes it so you don't want to put the book down. It kept me on the edge of my seat reading from cover to cover. This book was a very interesting read. The author kept you interested from the first chapter to the very last. It pulls you in quickly and keeps you hooked wanting to read and find out what is happening. I would recommend this to anyone.

Blood Will Tell
⭐️⭐️.5

This book is supposed to be mainly a fantasy/ science fiction story, but about 90% of the book is about a love triangle. To be very honest I disliked both of the love interests, and the main character wasn’t my favorite either.

The plot and world-building were pretty good, just not anything special. The pace in which the story is told is extremely fast and there’s a lot happening at the same time, causing the book to be kind of hard to follow.

All by all, it wasn’t a bad book, just not my cup of tea.

Hello, love triangle! And hello, webs of betrayal!

Isabelle's life changed when she was young and a virus took over. It gave way for the vampires to take over and herd the humans into their cities. The enforced marriages and mating of all women of child-bearing age. She was lucky and got matched with someone she actually liked, but shortly after their marriage he began to change...becoming addicted to the vampire's bite, and getting in way over his head. It's about here the story begins and it's also when Isabelle's life takes a completely different route.

"Next time, I strip for you, and we won't have an audience."

Roke is a vampire who was charged with keeping an eye over Isabelle. For years he's watched her without her knowledge. He fell for her without ever having said a word to her. Then he has to step out of the shadows and protect her from other vampires who want her. He's in love with her and would never let anything happen to her, but if he could also make her fall for him then everything would be perfect.

"Okay, let's go to my place."

"I wish you said that under different circumstances and that you appeared happier about it."

Isa groaned. "Do you ever stop flirting?"

"With you? No. Us vampires have great endurance."

She grinned reluctantly. "Awful. Just awful."

He smiled, a wicked gleam in his eyes. "But you liked it."

Alex is human and pretty much falls for Isabelle the moment she steps onto his boat. He has no problem stepping up every time Roke steps back. He wants to teach her, protect her, and love her, but he knows how she feels about Roke and he doesn't want to be a third wheel.

"Last thing I want to do is hurt anyone, especially you."

"Why especially me?"

"You know why."

"Say it. I need to hear it. You have no idea how much I need to hear it."

"Why?"

"Because you fucking slept with Roke."

Tensions get hot between these three at times and oh how it makes for a really good read. They are both alpha males who flirt endlessly, sometimes to the point where all you can do is laugh. Too bad she can't pick them both!

On top of their little love triangle, you have people trying to kidnap Isabelle, you have ones who just plain want her dead and are trying to kill her, and you have a tangled web of lies and betrayals that will keep you glued to the pages. Although I did receive an ARC that wasn't completely edited and had an occasional typo Blood Will Tell was a suspenseful read that kept my interest throughout the entire book and left me ready for book two. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

I originally heard about this book on Kindle Scout and I voted for it based on the synopsis and an excerpt. It didn’t make it, but I preordered it when I was alerted to its upcoming release. NOWHERE does it say anything about a love triangle, although to be fair, maybe I should have picked up on the hint when it compared itself to Twilight. *sigh* A perfectly good story ruined by a adolescent melodramatic “love” triangle. We have Roke the vampire and Alex the human pirate....both head over heels for the girl they’ve been hearing about for years and occasionally spying on. Then there’s “not so sweet” Isa who is just so drawn to them both and just can’t decide who to drop her pants for...but never fear she’ll keep kissing and teasing them both. Can you tell I don’t like love triangles? I think it’s a cheap way for an author to create drama, but this went beyond the pale and just made my eyes roll so often I was afraid they’d get stuck and I’d be staring at the inside of my skull the rest of my life. She spent so much time on this idiotic “who will she pick” nonsense that she faltered in her world building. What could have been a kickass urban fantasy based around an apocalyptic disease that let the Vampires rise to power....along with some creative genetic alterations turned into a mishmash of teenage melodrama and incomplete story. Hinting at the back story does not fulfill the duties of creating the world. You need to hook your readers, and by the end I was not only ticked by the cliffhanger wannabe ending but indifferent to ALL the characters. My guess is in a week I won’t remember this book at all....and on the off chance I do have some lingering memory that sticks with me until book two comes out I know for a fact I would be reading the reviews before purchase....if she continues with this stupid love triangle I won’t be wasting my money on book 2. If she gets a better editor who gets her to focus on world building and less on romance I might come back because the premise has so much promise.

This is the first book I have read from this author and she blew me away. This is the first book of The Blood series and wow what a book. I have not read a paranormal fantasy book in a long time but this author made me want more. These characters drew me into the story right from the start. I could not put this book down. It only took me a little over a day to devour this amazing book.

Isabelle (Isa) is a normal eighteen year old but everything changes in one day. She wakes up on a early morning and all the things she knew has completely changed. The vampires now rule the world. Isa is trying to leave her hometown to get a new start. She doesn’t know but she is a very special woman and now she is being hunted. Isa is attacked and when she thought it was over a beautiful vampire, Roke saves her. He has been watching her for a long time. Roke tells Isa that she is going to fall into a trap and then he helps her escape. Isa is on the search to find out what happened to her parents and why were they killed. On her journey she meets another beautiful man, Alex. She ends up having strong feeling for both men. Isabelle has more bigger things to worry about than guys because vampires and humans are after her. Will Isa find out what happened to her parents or will she be left in the dark? Who will Isa chose Roke or Alex?

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, suspense, and mystery. You will fall in love with all of the characters. Isabelle is a very strong and brave woman. She wants to find out what happened to her parents. Roke is a very well known vampire. He protects Isa with his life because he truly loves her. Alex is a beautiful and fun loving guy that has fallen for Isa too. He also has deep feelings Isa and he too wants to protect her. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This book will have you on your toes all the way until the end. The ending will leave you in complete shock. I loved all the twists and turns that this talented author took me on. This was the perfect way to start an amazing series. I can’t wait to see what will happen next to these amazing characters.

Blood Will Tell (The Blood, #1) by Colleen S. Myers was a unique read that will leave you with am mix of emotional so strong you'll be frustrate that the next book hasn't been release yet.

What a read, I'm not normally into love tri-angles, I find when they aren't written right then they're just annoying and childish. This however was fan-freaking-tastic. I actually believed that Isabelle cared deeply for both Roke and Alex, it was hard for me to know how to root for and in truth, I still can't pick. Though I am leaning towards Roke, only because he was introduced first.

I like this unique take on the whole, virus whips-out humanity trope. I liked the twist, the supernaturals, vampires taking over in the wake of chaos. Pure genius.

The world building was detailed and sinister. The plot was on point and had a steady flow and kept you engaged. I do wish that the boat ride was a little faster, but I get why, Isabelle needed some bonding time with Alex.

I liked Isabelle's character, she had a good head on her shoulders and though she was quick to fall for good looking men, I do kind of get it, her "husband" wasn't really all that.. engaging.

In all I loved this book and I can't wait for the next instalment. That ending, you just can't end a book like that.. my heart, my feels!. I highly recommend you get our hands on this one-of-a-kind book.

Happy Reading

At one time all I read what vampire books. I thought I had read it all. Blood Will Tell proved that there is more to tell about the world of vampires. I love this mix of vampires, DNA mutation, and romance.

Isabelle is a great character. She grew up in a world that she didn’t know about; her parents hid what was happening in the world from her. As she grew up she learned about the rest of the world and how it changed around her. I enjoyed watching her open her eyes, realize who was working against her, who was working with her, and who she could truly trust. Although at the end of the story I was not entirely sure who she should trust and who was just telling her what she thought she wanted to know.

The romance of Isabelle and Roke and Alex was intriguing. I thought I knew who the best guy was for her. I am not sure even now that I finished the book. I liked how the men called her out on her feelings. They made her think about what she wanted and examine her heart. While I do think she was stringing them both along, I don’t think that she was doing it intentionally.

I am excited for the next book in The Blood series. Colleen S. Myers is an author that I am putting on my must-read list.

Lies, deceit and betrayal and that's just from her parents.
Isabelle lives in a world where humans are ruled by vampires and are nothing but a good source.
Her dad was a geneticist and disappeared after the madness leaving only her and her mom.
Her mom also a doctor is killed fighting to stop her marriage at 14, she picked her best friend for her husband.
Her world is turned upside down by a vampire named Role and finds her life wasn't what she thought and she has been lied to and betrayed by everyone she knows.

Blood Will Tell by Colleen Myers is the first book of The Blood series. It is paranormal and sci fi. If you like vampires you will probably enjoy this take on them. Overall I enjoyed the book and the writing and would read others in the series. There is a bit of a love triangle and a cliffhanger. The ending was pretty crazy and I really didn’t see it coming. I would rate this 4 stars.

Blood Will Tell by Colleen S. Myers is an exciting beginning to The Blood series. It is a sci-fi story of vampires and humans with lots of heart-stopping action-packed scenes that keep the reader's interest high and pages turning quickly. Suspensful and tension-filled, Blood Will Tell lures the reader in immediately and doesn't let up. We are caught up and compelled by the lives of the characters and their stories. Strong, vibrant characters and a love triangle to boot! This is a great start to a new series that readers of vampire stories will not want to miss!! And as much as I liked the story I will add a note that the book (with language, violence, and sex) is definitely for the New Adult.
I was given a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

“UNKOWN CONTAGION: STAY IN YOUR HOMES.”

This book has a little bit of everything, so there is plenty to love about it. Suspense, vampires, humans are nothing but prey, and a love triangle to cement the romance. Basically you have a sci-fi and paranormal romance with this book. I was really impressed with the overall book. Not my normal, but I loved the cover so gave it a try and wasn’t disappointed. I will warn those that aren’t huge fans of cliffhangers, this has a mega-sized one coming your way. I think it will be worth it though if the next book to come is anything like this one. You are sucked into this whole new world and submerged into the characters’ lives so much that you will think about it long after you finish the book. I am positive this will be a new obsession of mine in this series.

“She passed the living room as an alert flashed across the screen. The volume was down on the TV but she slowed to watch, the words catching her eye. UNKOWN CONTAGION: STAY IN YOUR HOMES.”

“There has been a nation emergency declared. A contagion causing mass casualties is being reported in Fayette and Allegheny County and worldwide. FEMA has been activated but response times are slow. Recommendations are for citizens to stay in their homes and await further instructions. Again this is not a test.”

Isabelle, or Isa, never expected that her life would never be the same after the day she woke up sick. But her world is turned upside down when a contagion begins a war for survival between vampires and humans. On top of that Isa is unaware at first, that her father had given her a DNA sequence that allowed her to be resistant to the immortalis virus. This also gives her capabilities that she has no idea what to do with but could be the key to an end to the war between the humans and vampires, restoring order.

Roke, the vampire, and Alex, a boat captain or pirate are the two men that she also has to decipher her feelings for. Can she choose between the two already! I will say that the romance that is going on between the three make for a very interesting addition to this story. I was a bit bored with the games that Isa is playing throughout the book with them, but was glad to see that it was written well. I can’t wait to read the next one and find out what is to come for them all!

Blood Will Tell is the first book in the Blood Series by author Colleen S. Meyers. The story is a cross between Sci-Fi and Urban fantasy and tells the tale of Isabelle who lives in a world that has been changed by the Inmortalus virus and is ruled by vampires. The story begins with Isabelle (Isa) as a twelve year old the night the virus becomes live and begins to destroy the human population. Isa’s mother Rosa, a doctor, decides to get both of them out of the area they live and to safety but they are stopped and taken to a Clan home.
Fast forward six years and Isa is on the run, she has been living in Pittsburgh with her husband under rule of the vampires of the Romeran Clan. She has had enough and wants to be free but things aren’t going as planned, she is found by the vampire guard Roke, who tells her that he is there to help her. Isa’s journey of freedom has just begun. As the journey progresses Isa finds out things that will change her life forever and possibly not in a good way, lies come to light, she is being hunted for reasons she doesn’t know and Isa doesn’t know who to trust.
This is the first book I have ever read by author Colleen Myers and I can honestly say it was very interesting. Every book I’ve ever read about vampires the take on them and their abilities are different and this book doesn’t disappoint. I liked the storyline about the virus and how it affected the population and the idea behind the walled cities, it was a refreshing change. I liked Isa’s character and at times I forgot that she was only supposed to be 18, she was far more mature. The secondary characters, Roke, Alex and Rosa just to mention a few were well fleshed out and their interactions with Isa were believable. What I could have done without was the romance aspect, not to mention the love triangle between Isa, Roke and Alex. I think it was so action packed and well written that the “love” was getting in the way. In the end I can honestly say that I can’t wait for the next book to see where Isa’s life will go now that things have changed so drastically.

Blood Will Tell (The Blood #1) by Colleen S. Myers

5 out of 5 stars
Blood Will Tell by Colleen S. Myers is the first book in the blood series but also the first book that I have read by this author. This new series a bit of a young adult/new adult paranormal fantasy mixed with science fiction and romance. I read this book in one sitting I just couldn’t put this awesome book down. The characters are amazing the storyline is great I love reading about vampires and this is all about vampires but with a twist.
Isabelle a.k.a Isa, is the main character we start off with her and her loving family. Then the madness took and she loses her father and soon after that her mother. Then she is forced to get married because all women of child-bearing age are to be married. She was lucky and got matched with someone she actually liked, but shortly after their marriage he began to change he became addicted to the bite.
Now thing become more interesting when we meet Roke a vampire and he is in-charge of keeping her safe he had been protecting her for a while. Then we have Alex a human who falls for her as soon as she walks onto his ship. They are on the run and both Roke and Alex want and try to keep Isa safe.
With all of the drama and the love triangle we also uncover lies and betrayal when Isa uncovers secrets that her father inserted a vital DNA sequence into her blood that made her resistant to the immortalis virus, but unlocked other capabilities that prove to be the key to the war between the human and vampire race.
This story ended in a big cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read more of this series.

Blood Will Tell is the first book in Colleen S. Myers’ new series called The Blood. I had not read anything else by this writer before and I have to say the synopsis was very ‘sterile’ and the only thing that made me to actually pick up a copy was that someone wrote it is ‘Twilight meets Divergent’ and as I am a hard core fan of both then I decided to give it a go! And I tell you I am happy to report that it was a very fortunate decision and I would not really say it is ‘Twilight meets Divergent’, I think it does disservice to the writer and to the story! Yes, it is a series that is a bit of a YA/NA paranormal fantasy mixes with science fiction sprinkled with a dash of romance but that does not mean that it does not stand in its own rights!
Blood Will Tell gives us the opening to the world after 2019 and is ruled by different vampire clans. They live in cities surrounded by walls made of pure steel and control the humans to the minutiae – how and where they work, that they exercise daily regardless of weather, take vitamins and … breed …and of course they give blood every month! In this world we meet Isabelle or Isa and she is our heroine and it is her journey that we will be taken on and then of course there is betrayal and danger and despair and hope and love triangle with Roke (a Vampire) and Alex (a human who captains the ship Roke and Isa use to escape the city) and … there are so many layers and intrigue and at the end of the first book you are left with ‘WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE BEING PUBLISHED’ and the story keeps hounding you and it probably will until Colleen hands us the next instalment in the series!

Interesting tale, poor execution

There is an interesting premise behind this story, a mix of dystopian and vampires but the writing is inconsistent and the timelines are confusing. The Madness occurred when Isa was 12, the modern portion of the tale happens when she is 18, and Rosa died when she was 15. Later on though, it says that Isa hadn’t seen her mom since she was 12.

The storyline was also rushed. Where Isa “gradually”gets stronger occurs within three days? Honestly, there is no noticeable difference with training, strength and muscle memory that occurs that quickly. The whole story occurs within the span of a week or so, for the amount of events crammed into that week, other authors would have dedicated at least a month to make the tale more developed and feasible.

As a married teenager who found her estranged husband brutally murdered, Isa falls for two people immediately thereafter (within a few hours). With all of the romance novels and tales of vampires, I can buy off on her infatuation with Roke. Alex though, as a human, I just cannot even begin to fathom that love triangle.

The author needs to find better editors and reviewers. In addition to the flawed storyline, the writing was fraught with typos and incorrect word usage. I know that spelling errors are common enough nowadays, but there is a problem when it becomes a distraction due to sheer volume.

(DISCLAIMER: This review is based on my opinion only and may contain coarse language)

In the future, where a contagion has been going around, vampires offers food, power and life in exchange for monthly blood harvests. Isabelle and her husband Jack, were intending to run away until she finds him dead. She is saved by Roke, a vampire who swears his life on protecting her and Alex, a human who endlessly flirts with her. Along the way, she discovers a ton of secrets.

Personally, I didn’t feel that the world building was done very well. And the love triangle was really annoying and derailing the entire plot (And I’m actually a fan of love triangles if done properly.) Because the love triangle took up so much time in the book, I felt that there wasn’t a proper story.

I did like Roke, but I hated that Isa was so indecisive and stringing both the guys along throughout the entire book when it was pretty obvious which guy she actually liked.

Personally, I would not recommend this book.
