I’m told if you love someone you should let them go. Nobody tells you that doing so will break your soul in half. My life was easy when I had the college boyfriend who ticked all the right boxes. The night I laid eyes on Enoch Carter everything changed. I thought I was doing the right thing. Now I know I was wrong. I don’t know how to retrace my steps, how to repair the distance, fix the mess I made. I never meant to fall in love.
I stayed away because she was off limits. I broke the code, then left her bed without a backward glance. All the black marks on my heart would make her dirty and I won’t allow that. Friendship is all I can offer. Even if she doesn’t want my friendship, she needs it now more than ever. I shouldn’t love her. I can’t love her. I won’t.

As I write this review my heart is so full of emotion! I can not begin to say how AMAZING this story was...I think I can actually say it’s my favourite of Maria’s books so far...
From the very beginning I fell completely for these characters...Morgan and Enoch (Noc) are the best and throughout the book I was there fighting with them to get their happily ever after...at times in the book I was shouting to my kindle and just wanting to jump the book and tell them what to do...
This book honestly had me on the edge of my seat at times and even had me guessing how the end would be! My emotions where all over the place while reading.
Maria is hands down an amazing author and the book she has produced just proves how talented she is! An amazing 5 ⭐️ read and one that will stay with me for a while. I can’t wait to read more in this series. Brilliant and one everyone should read.
Another great read from MacDonald, and the third in the Deliverance series, with yet another fabulous and eye-catching cover to entice the readers. While it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommended reading the series in order to get the full back-story on the other characters lives, and to avoid any spoilers. This was a bit more raw and gritty compared to the other two books in the series. Enoch Carter is the proverbial bad boy, a former biker gang member, tattooed, dark and brooding, who’s left a string of one-night stands in his wake. But when he meets his best friend’s sister Morgan for the first time, something inside him changes, even if he doesn’t show it on the outside, for fear of dragging her into his unsafe world, or upsetting the man he’s come to look upon as a brother - who warned him his sister was off limits. The romance and friendships, not to mention some beautiful writing, are a five-star all the way, I just missed the drama and suspense of Enoch’s past colliding with his present - it was built up, then disappointingly over in the blink of an eye. That would have cemented that as one of my top reads this year. Even without it, it’s a highly recommended series. 4.5 stars from me! **I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This was an angst-filled, hang onto your heart kind of read! Morgan was at a crossroads and Enoch was definitely part of the many decisions she had to make. She felt stuck, not a little having to do with expectations from the brother she adored. Enoch’s best friend was Morgan’s brother and starting a relationship with his sister was not going to happen. But life is life and you should never say never…
“You undo me.”
“She’s every dirty thought I’ve ever had, every wish I’ve ever wanted and the win I’m so desperate for.”
There was heat and heart and a lot of back and forth between Morgan and Enoch as miscommunication, stubbornness and the love they shared for her brother caused friction to explode. Morgan was young and you could see that in some of the choices she made. Enoch, despite being older, had a hard time finding a way through the differences that cropped up.
There was drama (just the right amount) and lots and lots of angst and steam, which made for a great addition to the series.
I have loved every book I have read by this author and this was no exception. The third book in this series brings us Morgan's much awaited story. I love everything about all the characters Maria has created... Noc (Enoch Carter) though brings it up a level.. ex biker bad boy with a broken past and the softest heart where Morgan is concerned. She is off limits as his best friend's sister but as Ms Macdonald is fond imof reminding us (not only in this book) the heart wants what it wants ... and this story is another where try as they might the characters cannot convince themselves to stat away from each other ! Morgan - strong and independent, but Enoch (as he will always be known to her) finds an unexpected place in her heart. Side characters who we've mostly met before.. love seeing everyone again and catching up with them, they are all firm favourites of mine! I totally recommend all the books in this series and would say that whilst you could read this as a standalone it's much better to read them all to give you the best experience !
Formative by Maria Macdonald “Unlikely love, 5 stars”
Enoch never saw Morgan coming. He knew who she was but when he met her he didn’t expect for her to be so much more than he expected. Morgan was kind of having an identity crisis and was floating, until Enoch. These two don’t have an easy or smooth ride. Formative has so many twists and turns that sometimes you wonder which way is up. Morgan goes through all the emotions and through it all Enoch is there in some way pulling her back. These two really have an uphill battle to fight in order to get their happily ever after. Will they make it? Or will the past prevent these two from getting what they really deserve? I liked these two as induvial, but I loved them together. Enoch screams alpha, but he knows how to be soft for Morgan. She is his weak spot. Morgan is fully of sugar and spice. In Formative you also see previous couples from the Deliverance series who just help round out this couple’s story. Its easy for me to say that so far this is my favorite couple by Macdonald. Plot-5/5 Characters-5/5 Heat-5/5 Writing style-5/5 Overall-5/5
I loved this couple so much Enoch is the perfect bad boy that as a reader I just love. We first met Morgan in Dazed, I couldn't wait for her story to come to life and it didn't disappoint at all.
I loved the relationship between them, all that will they won't they tension just made it hotter when they finally give into the inevitable. There is a sense of danger and mystery all relating to Enoch's past that has come back to haunt him and he'll do anything to keep Morgan safe.
I love this series so much I can't wait to get my hands on the next one.
This is Maria's third book in the Deliverance series and it delivers on every level. We met Morgan in book one (Dazed) and knew right away she had her own story to tell. From the prologue to the first chapter to the epilogue Maria keeps you teetering on a knives edge with angst and will they won't they situations. Enoch is every girl's wet dream, I mean who doesn't like tall dark and handsome. But I know he's spoken for so I'll not gush too much lol. Yes this bits a spoiler but I swear I was panting reading it. I loved when they went to the nightclub and the guys walk off to give Morgan, Laura and Caden gossip time, but then Enoch strides back to Morgan just so he can look at her again *****swoon***** To finish my review of this amazing book i have to praise Maria for her fantastic imagination and writing skills, you slay me with your hot n heavy men. And THANK YOU for introducing me to Rob Thomas and Little Wonders, it's my face song at the moment.

She didn't want him because he was a bad boy with tats and a bike ok well it didn't hurt. But that's not what drew her to him. When everything goes south after their wild night she locks down her feelings. The tension and play between these two is crazy. You can't help but love them and push for them to get it together. Problem is Enoch has plenty of secrets and his past may block their future. When danger pops up he and brother Max may have more on their hands than they imagined. I love that these two find their way. And can't wait to hear Max's story next. I love this author and the way she mixes it up. She keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps the sexual tension high.
You can't help but want to read more of this author's work. While this is a series, each book is a standalone read with cross over characters that you will love more with each book. The love and support from this group of folks keep them protected and safe and full of love. Just awesome sauce.
Each book in this series has been such a rollercoaster and very enjoyable to read. I really liked Enoch and Morgan's story and how it was written. I can't wait for Max' story now :-)
Morgan has been through so many things these last few years but she's always had her brother's support and a small circle of good friends who stood by her. When one night her brother's best friend Enoch steps into her life, there's an attraction between them they can't seem to deny but Enoch doesn't want to let her get too close to him. And when one thing changes it all for Morgan, she'll have a few decisions to make regarding her future but will it involve Enoch?... Enoch may try to keep a distance from Morgan but the more time he spends with her and the closer they get, the more difficult it becomes. And when his past catches up with him, he'll have to decide what is now worth the fight...
And Bam! Maria strikes again with her amazing writing. This book is a little more gritty and a tad dark than the previous two books in this series. Oh my god! The book gave me literal goosebumps and I could still feel the after effects of the story once i was done with the book. Morgan has been my favorite character right from Dazed. I couldn't wait for her story right from the start and Maria completely did justice to this character. Enoch and Morgan are custom made for each other. They complement each other so perfectly that you cannot help but fallen in love with them. You would definitely not want to miss reading this one!
This is yet another amazing read by Maria. I have totally fallen in love with this series of books and the characters within them. This is the 3rd book in the series so far and follows Morgan (Laura’s best friend) and her relationship with her brothers best friend. I love the fierceness of the characters in this book in how they love and protect what is theirs. This book is slightly darker in places than the previous 2 which gives it a bit of an edgier feel and also adds to the intensity of the characters. I absolutely loved this book and would recommend everyone to read it.
This is the third book in the Deliverance series and you really need to read the other two in the series before this one, firstly because they are fabulous and secondly because the books need to be read in order. This story focuses on Morgan and Enoch and I have a feeling that Enoch will have many readers claiming him as their own! I love the characters and the story line and I just didn't want the book to end! I believe there is another book coming in the future and I cannot wait to read it. This series is becoming a firm favourite of mine and I would totally recommend you read them.
I’m not even sure where to start......Right from the beginning I was so caputured, I fell hard and fast with both Morgan and Noc. From the start my emotions were all over the place. I didn’t know if I wanted to laugh or cry. In my eyes any book that can make me feel the way Maria’s did deserves 5 stars and more! Keep going Maria I can’t wait to see where you lead me too next!
OMG totally in love with Enoch, super stud bad boy. such a great read with twist and turns I never saw coming a fantastic follow on to the previous books
Formative is book 3 in the Deliverance series and by far one of the best books she has ever written.
The love between Enoch and Morgan is one that is hard to find. But when you find it, it is one that will last forever. The book is emotional and exciting.
Morgan is the little sister of his best friend. However, feelings are growing. Feelings he doesn't know if he can't fight. Will acting upon his feelings loose him his best friend?
He is the best friend of Morgan's brother. He read a her like a little sister. But recently he has been giving off mixed signals. Will her brother approve of their relationship or will it drive a big wedge between them? He is her everything. He has looked after her all her life. Given up his dreams for her.
I really enjoyed seeing the other charchters from Dazed and Conflicted. The story at the beginning entwines with Conflicted. You get to see it from Morgan's point of view though and why she was the way she was.
I am so looking forward to Max's book next. He has given up everything to look after his sister. Now that she doesn't need him where will his story take him and what with all the secrecy?
How do I write a review about one of my favourite books? This book is fantastic. I’ve fallen head over heals in love with Enoch. He is the perfect book boyfriend but he’s mine. Morgan has been one of my favourite characters since Dazed and it’s been fantastic that she got her own book. Formative answers any questions you had about her in Dazed and then some. It’s been great to follow her from the first chapter of Formative all the way through and to see what both her and Enoch go through and overcome to get to where they are at the end. Such an amazing book. Maria’s writing just gets better and better and Formative proves that. I can’t wait to read whatever she releases next. She’s fast becoming my favourite author
Like always! An extraordinary read. This is a follow up to the other books in the series and this didn't disappoint me at all. Like always Maria had a thing to bring your emotions to the limits. I have totally fallen in love with this series of books and the characters within them. I love Enoch the chemistry with the heroine was super good and his a super stud bad boy. This is such a great read with twist and turns that will keep you hook from the beginning till the end.
